  • You wouldn't be losing fat, but yeah- you'd lose weight for a VERY short time. It'd be better to eat MORE and eat BETTER.
  • Yes. A professor from Kansas proved this unequivocally:http://www.delish.com/food/recalls-reviews/twinkie-junk-food-dietYou probably wouldn't feel very good, but you would maintain (or lose, if you controlled your calories).

Will someone let me know if my workout routine is good?

I'm trying to lose weight and i'm just starting off for now with this routine i'll eventually do more but for now I do 100 sit ups, 50 jumping jacks, and i run for like 5 minutes. Is there anything else suggested? I really wanna work on losing arm fat and on my face also. Please don't leave rude comments lmao I know I'll eventually work up to more workouts i just have to get my body used to this first.

How to Lose Weight Quickly for Women Over 40

Recommended Answer:

You can't spot reduce such as reduce fat from a spot on your body like your arm or face, if you reduce it it will be from your whole body. Running 5 minutes will do very, very little for you, I suggest 30 minutes, you can take walking breaks as necessary but keep going for 30 minutes. Diet is 85% of weight loss so look to see what changes you can make there. Finally rather than sit ups I would suggest squats, the bigger the muscle the greater the calories burn and squats work the biggest in the body. Good luck!

Other Answers:

  • it's ok for starters. but why sit ups? i would recommend more compound exercise rather than isolation. for example push ups, pull ups, dead lifts, and squats. but since you're trying to lose weight it's more on your cardio workout and diet.

Why do people that smoke get such a hard time, but fat people...?

Get a free pass? Why is it socially acceptable to tell someone that they're gross and disgusting for smoking cigarettes in their own free time, but it's not acceptable to tell some morbidly obese person that they're disgusting and killing themselves quicker than cigarettes would? And for that matter, why do obese people get handicap parking strictly for being obese? Shouldn't they be forced to park in the back of the (Walmart) parking lot so that they would have to walk farther? You don't eat yourself into a disability.

How to Lose Weight With Gluten Free Foods

Recommended Answer:

As with so many bigoted people, you make the assumption that someone is overweight by choice.A person chooses to smoke but many people have health issues that make weight loss virtually impossible. Also, unless you're on a plane, it's rare that an obese person has any effect on your health the way 2nd hand smoke can affect others.I assume that since racial jokes are now considered offensive, you are rather provoked that you can only humiliate and attack the overweight. Please tell me that you are childless and will not be training a new generation to be as nasty and offensive as you are.

Other Answers:

  • Indeed we need to help both out say not to smoking and eath unhealthy.
  • your point are well taken
  • Actually cigarettes are much more harmful. I wish they would ban cigarettes forever. Like 2nd hand smoke is bad for people. Obese people don't have a "2nd hand" thing if you know what I mean
  • From a public health standpoint I think obesity is a much bigger problem. For one thing you must eat to survive (unlike smoking).Imaging telling an addict they had to quit, but giving them just a little bit of their drug every day for the rest of their life.
  • It's rude either way (unless someone is smoking in your face). Everyone has the right to do what they want in there life weather that effects there health or not and no one else has a day weather they can or cannot do it. At the end of the day IT'S THERE LIFE. Not yours or anyone else's. so to JUDGE someone else is rude and disrespectful. Unless you are an all around 'perfect' person then you don't have the 'right' to judge someone else period. Why care? That's there life, there consequences so let them deal with it. People just need to mind there business and stop looking to judge others. If they're wrong? Tell them politely and if they don't listen? So be it. Live your own life and move on. Don't dwell on other people's actions that have nothing to do with you.
  • Obese people don't threaten my health or impact my enjoyment of the locale by eating a big mac within 3 meters of me. I can't say the same about a smoker. A smoker puffing away within 3 meters is likely to involve a lot of coughing by me and any bystanders in proximity to this guy's cloud of exhaust.
  • I can smoke, drink, fart and tell dirty jokes. If someone doesn't like it they can f^ck off.

I lost 10 lbs, why do my jeans still fit?

I'm a 15 year old girl, about 5'4 3/4. I lost like 10-12 pounds. I now weight 145. I am not really that fat. I have sort of a large frame, like an athletic build and my legs are muscular because I have played soccer for years. I'm a size 8-10. It varies on the store but usually Im like a 9. I am really worried because I just tried on my jeans and they all still fit the same as before.. My goal weight is 136 because that's about how much someone my height should weigh. I'm worried i will never drop a size at all?

It's probably because of how athletic you are and that you are muscular, you are probably loosing weight in a different area. Also if you have been excersising a lot you have probably been building muscle while loosing weight, so the muscle takes up the room in your jeans that fat used to. Congrats on the weight loss!

Am I plus size? Why its hard to lose weight?

I'm 29 years old, height 5'1, weight 64kg. My body measurement is 34D-30-39. I'm newly married and I don't know why it seems hard for me to lose weight. I've been fasting, exercising, detoxing and dieting for 2 weeks now and I only managed to lose 1 kilo (it was 65kg before). Back then when I was younger, I used to be much more slimmer, I could even fit into size S. I gained weight easily although I ate as normal as other people and it drive me crazy. Maybe it because of all the rice that I took almost everyday when I'm still working before. My previous job was really stressful and hectic, I got hungry easily. People keep saying I look older than my big sister (even tough she's bigger than me, I guess its because of her small narrow face), when I asked my husband, he keep saying I look fine and I look better than the early time we're dating when I was also chubby back then. But I think my weight back then was the same or less than now, but he said my body seem more tighter. I did took some kind of herbs that claimed to shape and tighten body. Please advise and no mean words please... Its not like I want to be skinny, just want to get the normal BMI again since now my BMI is already overweight. Anyone out there with same experience?

How to Lose Stomach Weight

Recommended Answer:

Well you said you are fasting and exercising and dieting and stuff, but it didn't work? Well either you just didn't do it right or you have a medical problem. Just because you say you exercised and stuff doesn't mean you were doing enough. I'm sorry if that came out mean, I don't intend it to, I'm honestly trying to help. But maybe you weren't burning enough calories. Some people think that just going for a walk should burn them enough calories so that they can eat half a chocolate cake. And did you diet correctly? Some foods we think are healthy when they really aren't. Haveing a salad that is swimming in dressing and covered in cheese is just as bad as a piece of pizza. I'm not saying you are doing these things, I'm just saying maybe you are doing something similar. Try downloading a calorie counter app on your phone. It will help make sure you don't go over your phone. It also might be a medical problem. It wouldn't hurt if you went to a doctor and explained your problem. He might find that you have a thyroid problem or maybe your metabolism is super low. He might even have helpful suggestions.Hope this helps, good luck girl! And if it makes you feel any better, I looked up your measurements on a height and weight chart, and it says you are only 19 pounds (9 kg I think) overweight. That's not that bad! And it sounds like your husband loves you. Good luck

Other Answers:

  • Why are you fasting? And what kind of detox exactly? These are temporary diets that are bound to fail. Once you do lose weight, you'd gain it back anyway once you went back into your old eating habits. If you actually want to lose weight and do better for your body, you're going to have to change your eating lifestyle overall. It's hard to know whats healthy for your body because of so many diets they have out their, but to be truthfully honest, there's only one way to eat healthy. And that's by eating natural, organic foods with no added chemicals. That includes, fruits, veggies, SOME nuts (Organic Almonds) (Organic Dried Fruit) And chicken and fish have a lot of health benefits as well. (As long as the chicken is grass fed, meaning no added hormones) You can find a lot of ways to make food you enjoy healthy! For example, if you really want pizza, you can buy wheat bread (no added ingredients) Soy Cheese (vegan) And tomato sauce! You find ways to make the food you enjoy in a healthy way. Organic is the way to go, and eat as vegan as possible, although its fairly difficult. Good luck! :)

How do you stop hair loss due to deficiencies?

My mother is convinced that the reason I'm losing A LOT of hair as of recently (and I mean a lot...but not in clumps or anything) is because of deficiencies. I'm a vegetarian, and even as that, I don't eat as well as I should (I skip a lot of meals, don't always eat enough fruit and veggies, and lack a lot of stuff in my diet)Since the beginning of summer i've been trying to lose weight, and I've been losing more and more hair.I'm going to the doctor in a week to do a blood panel and see which deficiencies I have. I'll probably have an iron and protein deficiency, and some other vitamins i'm sure. By taking supplements in case I have those deficiencies, will the hair loss stop?Or what do I need to do to stop the hair loss? and how long will it take?

How to Detox Your Body and Lose Weight at The Same Time

Recommended Answer:

IF it is because of nutrient deficiency then yes, after replacing what you need you should see the hair loss begin to slow down and eventually stop. It could take up to 6 months. As a vegetarian it is SO important to ensure you are getting enough nutrients! Good luck.

Other Answers:

  • You will need to wait for the diagnosis. You could have alopecia. Regarding hair loss from nutrient deficiency, hair is made from protein. Have enough of that and what you need for cell regeneration. That would be what you've learned in school. Your mdr of essential and trace vitamins and minerals from the primary source, vegetables, fruit, whole grains, nuts, seeds and beans. Have fish three times a week. Ask if the hair follicles will produce growth. Ask a well educated stylist to evaluate.

Can a caloric restricted diet mess with your brain?

Ok weird question. I had anorexia and when I gained all the weight back I tried to lose it again but failed for I''m trying to do it slowly and healthy but i have to start very low so I won''t gain. So I''ve haven''t been eating very much and been exercising a pretty good bit. The weirdest things have been happening though: like I can''t remember how to spell certain words sometimes right off (like I normally can) I can''t remember anything, things like that. This probably sounds crazy but I was just wondering

7 Tips to Help You Lose Weight Now

Recommended Answer:
It is possible if you''re not eating enough for your brain functioning to be off. You''re brain, like the rest of your body, needs the energy you get from food to function properly. But if you feel like you''ve been forgetting things way too often and making too many errors, you should go see your doctor. And It''s really awesome that you want to try losing weight the healthy way now! Instead of calorie restriction though, try eating healthier foods, like oatmeal, brown rice, lots of vegetables, fruits and lean protein (chicken, turkey, eggs and fish). These foods will be good for your body and brain and they''ll keep you full for a longer time so you don''t have to spend time counting calories.

are there any carb blockers that have been approved by the FDA?

Can Starch Blockers Help You Lose Weight?
A closer look at the promise of guilt-free carb consumption.

By Shahreen Abedin
WebMD Feature Reviewed by Michael W. Smith, MD

Some dieters are tempted to turn to dietary supplements called starch blockers to try to sidestep carb calories. But do these products deliver? Here''s what experts told WebMD.

Also called carb blockers, starch blockers contain an extract called phaselous vulgaris, which comes from white kidney beans. Makers say that by blocking a starch-digesting enzyme called alpha-amylase, starch blockers prevent the body from absorbing carbs -- sparing you from the carb calories.

Supplements, Not Drugs

Starch blockers aren''t the same as the prescription drug Precose, used in some people with type 2 diabetes to slow starch absorption for blood sugar control. Precose is not used for weight loss.

Starch blockers are dietary supplements, not prescription drugs. Since they don''t go through the FDA''s drug approval process, the FDA has not signed off on whether starch blockers -- or any other supplements -- are safe, effective, or contain what the label says is in the bottle.

“The manufacturer is responsible for marketing a safe product,” FDA spokeswoman Siobhan DeLancey, RVT, MPH, tells WebMD.

WebMD contacted the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), a trade group for the dietary supplements industry, representing dietary supplement manufacturers and ingredient suppliers, for its response.

In a written statement, Duffy MacKay, ND, CRN''s vice president for scientific and regulatory affairs, tells WebMD that, in general, studies show that "extracts of phaseolus vulgaris appear to be safe and have potential promise" to help overweight or obese people lose weight. But further studies with more people in them are needed to confirm that, MacKay notes.

What the Experts Say

Starch blockers probably do allow complex carbohydrates to pass through the small intestine largely undigested, says Christine Gerbstadt, MD, RD, an American Dietetic Association spokeswoman.

“But when they get to the large intestine, the starches ferment, give off gas, and cause bloating and diarrhea,” Gerbstadt tells WebMD.

Gerbstadt says she doesn''t recommend using starch blockers because there haven''t been enough tests done in people showing that the products help.

Obesity expert Louis Aronne, MD, says his patients usually don''t stick with starch blockers for long.

“We just don’t see people taking stuff like this on an ongoing basis. When patients come in taking a carb blocker, they end up stopping either because of the side effects or because of lack of effectiveness, or both,” says Aronne, who directs the Comprehensive Weight Control Program at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

MacKay stresses that it''s important not to rely only on supplements for weight loss. As he puts it, those products "are not magic bullets," and a healthy diet and exercise are also needed for successful weight loss.

"If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” MacKay writes.

Focus on Fiber Instead

If you’re going to take a supplement for weight loss, Gerbstadt suggests taking a fiber supplement instead.

According to the American Dietetic Association, people who get 20 to 27 grams of daily fiber from fruits, vegetables, whole grain, legumes, or up to 20 grams from dietary supplements are more likely to be successful in controlling their weight compared to those who don’t.

Studies also show that a high-fiber diet makes you feel fuller, less hungry, and is more satisfying to the appetite.

If you’re thinking about taking any dietary supplement, do your homework. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, which is part of the National Institutes of Health, recommends getting reliable research about the product and telling your doctor about any supplements you take.

Switching up my gym routine?

I normally use the treadmill everyday for an hour and I'll usually walk fast on 3.5-3.7 without an incline and then run for 20-30 mins (depending on what my asthma lets me run) on 5.0 without an incline and then the last 20 minutes I'll walk again on 3.5-3.7.
After that I use the machines and do my own pilates moves in an area of the gym and leave. I'm thinking of switching it up this time though because I've been doing this same exact routine for a while now almost everyday and my body is probably really used to it so I want to switch it up.
So my question is..what should I do instead? Should I do 30 minutes on the treadmill, some weights, back on the treadmill then pilates? Should I do treadmill, weights, elliptical, pilates? I don't know, I only find the treadmill to be the most effective for my body compared to the elliptical or any other machine. I'll probably do this new routine for 10 days and then switch it back up to lose weight more effectively.
Can someone help me figure out a good routine or should I just stay with the one I'm on now?

Top Five Tips to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
I always have so much trouble trying to come up with a routine and timing myself, or counting sets and reps so I find that it's easier to just do a workout video for exercise. I use p90x or insanity and I like both of them because the routines aren't the same. p90x you can pick what muscle groups you want to workout and insanity is split up by DVD's ( 60 days long) and the intensity increases each DVD. I like it because it takes like the least amount of time compared to going to the gym.I’m not a gym rat and my schedule is pretty tight so this was a good solution for me. You work out from home, so it cannot get more convenient than that. Could be an easy fix for wanting to switch up your routine!

How to lose weight? really quickly!!!?

Top Five Tips to Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
You can't lose weight quickly... in a healthy way I mean.

Firstly, cut out all the junk food, processed food, sugary foods, sugary drinks, white rice, white bread etc etc.

What you want is brown rice, brown bread, all the complex carbs. They're healthier for you as you break them down slowly so it provides you with a constant source of energy, whereas (i.e.) white bread would give you a sugar spike which isn't healthy.

Secondly, eat several meals a day. Don't eat too much at one time. Eat a balanced meal, enough veggies, proteins, carbs. Try not too eat too late either. If you're eating real late (i.e. midnight snack) be vary of what you're eating. You also don't want to eat out that much, never sure what they put in your food. READ NUTRITIONAL LABELS. You just gotta.

Thirdly is Sports/Activities. You gotta do them. Use up your energy, burn up the calories, stay healthy. I.e. go jogging. What's best though is interval training. What I mean by that is running for 1min, jogging for 1 min, repeat several times. This'll really get your heart pumping and'll shed tons of fat from you. Resistance training (working out) also burns lots of calories. You should mix up your exercises.

SLEEP IS IMPORTANT. You need at least 8 hours of sleep per day.

If you're really serious, you can count your calorie intake.DRINK PLENTY OF WATER! 4 Litres a day. Stress also directly & indirectly causes you to gain weight. So chillax if you're feeling stressed out :D

  • If you don't want on exercise, try walking. Anywhere you have to go walk there. Try to find something you like which will motivate you. Kickboxing is fun as well as spin class. Find something you enjoy so its not a chore
  • you really need to exercise even if when your walking round your house you jog on the spot lots and never stand still - this way it will take a long while though
  • Although I always prefer exercising there are ways other than that.
I think you really should consider exercising it is the best way to lose way (although not for everyone).
Most of the weight loss products are not that good and if they help you loose your weight they can ruin your health a bit.
I recently found a good way to loose weight. When you are lazy you can still do other things of course it's just that it is harder without exercising (in some cases impossible). Well you can check the video which recommends the way I lost my weight.
Just check the video first and if you don't like it just don't buy it. I just have no reasons to not recommend it, it's your choice in the end. http://fatlossfactorway.blogspot.com/
    Never forget considering exercising!
  • If you're trying to lose weight fast then you can lose at least 10 pounds in one week. All you have to do is not eat anything but fruit except bananas and exercise at least 5 times a day
  • okay, to get into shape , speed up your metabolism, rid yourself of excess fat and lose weight ,,,,,do as follows:

Stop drinking & smoking (if you do this regularly)
eat fruits & vegetables all you can (buy a slow cooker /food steamer & rice/pasta cooker to make it easy on you)...(vegetables might not seem "tasty", like junk foods,, but can be as you aquire your taste to them..and are loaded with energy and nutrients)...avoid all junk food, cokes, sweets, etc...and drink mainly water (green tea , juice & milk being the other options you drink). If you eat meat ,,use only steamed, baking or grilled methods for preparing fish or chicken.

also, do an hour of walking each day at least. or some type of excercise.

    * you should lose about 10 lbs per month

Oh.. Another weight worry ah? Well don't threat! It's pretty easy to loose weight unless your addicted to junk food. Just hold on tight and you'll get through it!

Steps:
1.) Every night before bed do 5 push ups and jog in place for like 3 minutes, (Every night because it is very little exercise) Do that for about 6 weeks.
2.) Do not over do exercise, believe it or not too much exercise a day can make you gain weight! Also it is bad for your heart. You're heart gets to pumped, don't act like your on steroids.
3.)Eat right. I'm not saying never drink a soda, eat chocolate, or just kick back and watch a movie with popcorn! I'm saying like don't over do it. Here's something you can do! Get a notebook, write down 'week one' Choose either a soda, candy, or popcorn, or whatever! Only about once a week. Control yourself.
4.) When your at school and it is recess time, jog around the field twice a day. Then just enjoy yourself!
5.) Don't forget about chores/work. Don't get so worried, caught up in exercise that you forget about schoolwork! School is school, and school is were you learn! Do math, science, just do good!
6.) Take classes, Like karate, etc.
7.) Do not starve yourself or try to purposely throw up. I'm going to be honest, it does very much make you loose weight! But do not do it. It becomes a addiction and soon you will get to the point when you either die, or get serious injury. It's called being anorexic, you can easily die from that. Super models do it, and they end up dying after awhile. So please do not do it.
8.) Remember you're true beauty. You may not believe me or anyone that tells you this. But you may be ugly on the outside, but everyone even murderers. Have beauty some what within them. But since you are a young girl who is seeking help you are smart, and beautiful. And don't worry! 175 pounds? Not fat, you should refer to, 'Thick'. Fat is about 200 pounds. And even them are beautiful.

Good luck (x.. Happy summer! and get a new swimmy suit C:.
If you really put all your effort and do what I told you will lose weight. You could get down to like 90 pounds! (Probably 100 or so) But yea.! :P

Bye!

I know this will sound weird...but I just make a playlist of songs and go into large area of space in my house and just dance. Crazy dance like you would at a bar lol. If doesn't have to be a choreographed dance, unless you wanted to make one. Dancing burns calories fast and is a great way to use most of your muscles. I do this for about 30minutes-1 hour a day or every 2 days. Also, Just Dance, Zumba Fitness and Wii Fit for any gaming system (wii, x box, playstation).I all recommend. Only wii fit is only for wii. All fun and help you lose weight fast!

  • Make fun music mixes! I bribe myself to go to the gym with new ipod music.
Try listening to a genre you don't usually listen to- maybe hip-hop or R&B cause it has good beats, especially the faster songs, or do some dubstep! I saw on iTunes the other day that there was a whole album of "runner music" that was really cool dubstep mixes!

Are muscles built when you consume protein while being sore?

Just had some abs-intensive exercises with my gym trainer yesterday and so my core has been kinda sore (hurts a little when I poke it) all day long today. I was told that this soreness will likely last a couple days and that this is the period of time where muscles are built - as long as sufficient protein is consumed.

Six Simple Ways For You To Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
You were told wrong. The soreness is not an indication of muscle growth.

Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) happens in poorly trained muscles. Well trained muscle have very little DOMS if any. Eventually, if you continue to train and train properly, you muscles will adapt to the regimen and no longer experience DOMS. However, they will still grow.

Also, you require a lot more than just protein for muscle growth so don't focus on protein. Protein is just one of a constellation of nutrients required for anabolism in muscles and all other tissues. So, focus on eating a proper diet and avoid supplements.

DOMS is not due to the production of lactate and you don't need protein supplements to grow. In fact, they are to be avoided according to the entire health care establishment of the US Government, the best minds in nutrition in the world.

PS: You may want to evaluate your trainer because, if you quoted them correctly, they don't know some of the most fundamental issues related to strength training.

  • Isn't the soreness lactose being released ? Maybe research this from a medical study but most trainers and nutritionists are full of cr@p

How do I get a thigh gap?

I have a very small one and when I say small I mean like 1/4 inch one and I need to lose stomach fat also. Please help!!

Lose Weight As You Get Older - Ezine Articles

Recommanded Answer:
If you don't have a thigh gap, you have thigh fat and you'll have to lose it. Your only choice is to lose fat and wait for the gap to appear. How long that takes will depend on your skeletal structure, pelvic width, thigh muscle size, and amount of thigh fat so there's no way to predict it. And, you may not like where else on your body the fat leaves as you diet down in body fat. For example, you could lose cup size as well.

In case you don't know how to lose fat, read my answer about how to lose fat ---> http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=As615QJM4X_3ID9_05qmmlXty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20111028185603AAVcP4D

There are no exercises which will help in any significant way because spot fat reduction is impossible without surgery. Where your body stores and removes fat is determined by your genetics and there is nothing you can do to change that short of radical procedures such as liposuction. And, in general, where it stores fat first is where it will lose it last and visa versa. The world of health and fitness has an unfortunate abundance of myths and spot reduction is one of them. There is no exercise, no pill, no supplements, no spa treatment, and no natural way to spot reduce. Your only choice is to create a caloric deficit with diet and exercise, burn fat, and wait for it to leave the desired body parts.

Always remember that any exercise will burn calories but no exercise will burn fat unless your diet allows it. You can burn fat in your sleep or you can run all day and never burn any fat. It all depends on your diet.

Fat loss is determined by calorie control, not by exercise. Good exercises for burning calories are speed walking, biking, swimming, and ANY other physical activity which makes you move a lot of weight for a long time. But NO exercise is good for burning fat if you eat too many calories because you can always eat more calories than you can burn.

Too many people waste energy and time because they do not understand this one simple point. The result is too often giving up in frustration, abandoning gym memberships they continue to pay for, and many other unnecessary problems not the least of which is a lack of success.

An average person must walk about five miles every day of the week to burn the calories equivalent to a pound of body fat. So, unless you think walking five miles a day or doing that amount of exercise is for you, focus your fat loss program on diet.

Diet for fat loss. Exercise for fitness.

Losing 20 pounds in a month isn't healthy. I'm proud of you to lose the weight, however, you must take your time while doing so. If you want to lose 20 pounds in a month you should probably eat about 1200 calories a day.

If I dance for 2hrs once a week, use the elliptical on medium to high intensity 5 days a week, and eat healthy?

Will I lose weight?

@applebutter

I don't weigh myself because the number on the scale is not important (muscle weighs more than fat). I am making a lifestyle change not going on a diet of any kind. I do find ellipticals fun. I was seeing a personal trainer before I started exercising on my own. I am a girl. I have always eaten healthy (dad is a bodybuilder) so I have grown to enjoy healthy foods. I also know about water weight and how your weight can change throughout the day. I do know good form because of my trainer.

4 Simple Tips On How To Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
You don't want to go that route. I know it sounds good to your mind, but your body and brain will have more to say on the matter than your mind will and it's even more important because you are still developing hormonally and will be for the next two years, going to the extreme like this will mess up that developement ( becoming a man or woman) you don't wanna mess that up! The key to long term success is keeping your exercise enjoyable. You don't want to go over an hour a day tops! It's counter-productive otherwise, it's just how your body and brain work, don't make me get all scientific on you ha! Think more long term, you are going to want to look and feel your best for the rest of your life, so it's important that you start right from the beginning. And you have to give your body and brain at least 6-8 weeks to break in to this new routine, they canjust flip the switch like your mind does.
The Most Important Thing You Must Understand is you need to keep your program ENJOYABLE! If your brain or body find it too painful, no matter how strongly your mind is committed to working the program, eventually, (usually less than 6 weeks) your brain will make you quit! It won't tolerate pain.At the same time it's so very important that you allow your body and brain time to adjust to your new training. From tendons being stretched to complicated metabolic issues, to learning proper form, pace and routines your brain and body need at least 6 weeks to line up to really get things going.
Don't give much credit to the scale when first starting, it's normal to retain more fluids, it's your body's way of being ready for the next workout. Don't micro-manage your calories either. Sensible wholesome meals, the quality of the calories is more important than the quantity. Your diet should be ENJOYABLE too, and something you can develop and maintain as a habit.
Workout at your own pace, which in the beginning should be slower, focus more on how you move ( your form) as it's important to how your body will shape up and that you don't get injured. Just about any exercise is good and will work, walking, jogging, running, cycling but my favorite and number one choice for losing or gaining weight is weightlifting aka bodybuilding. If your a girl, don't worry that you'll get manly muscles, the average steriod-free female builds only a small amount of muscle each year. But that muscle is awesome! Because not only does it burn calories while your working and using them, and while they are repairing and replenishing themselves, but 24/ 7 they consume calories just to stay alive! Just try not to miss a single day of working out for the first 6 months without a real good reason, otherwise slacking off can become the habit. Other than taking your two scheduled days off per week. Rest is important, so get to bed at a decent time as well. Make sure you drink plenty of water everyday. Learn to drink water warm, so you can have it anytime/anywhere. Other than keeping it sensible and enjoyable, remember all the benefits you'll get from exercising and a decent diet. You'll sleep better, have better energy, breathing, moods, concentration, endurance, strength, self-confidence, and so much more. It's really the closest thing to magical powers each human has, so don't miss out! 45-60 minutes a day, 5 days a week is ideal, but by all means start with less if need be, again keeping it enjoyable is everything! Just start easy, give your body time to start providing you additional energy, keep learning more as you go, and before you know it, you'll have the body you've always wanted, with the loads of extra benefits I pointed out.

  • Yes, but make sure you eat about 1500 calories a day, otherwise you won't eat enough, therefore you won't lose as much weight. I'm 15 and trying to lose weight by August, and so far, that is working for me:-)

How do I get motivated to lose weight?

My sister started the Atkins diet 4 months ago and she has lost 40lbs. She even has 1 cheat day a week and she is still losing weight. How can I get motivated to do this diet and lose at least 60lbs.

Recommanded Answer:
If your sisters example is not enough motivation, I don't know what is.

Give your sister (or somebody else you trust) $1000 dollar for a bet - or any amount which hurts you to lose. If you can lose a specified amount of weight in a certain time (1 lb per week is realistic), then she gives you the money back, if not she gets to keep it. That would add a financial incentive. You could also pay yourself $10 per pound lost, if not you give it to a charity.

  • You can die if ur fat:(
  • I would imagine yourself 60 pounds lighter.
  • Here's one suggestion to get and stay motivated. Buy a nice pair of jeans (or whatever you like to wear most of the time; for me it's jeans) one size smaller than you wear now. Make your first goal to lose enough to fit into those jeans or whatever. Every couple of days, try to get them on. Once you can fit into them, buy another pair, again, one size smaller then the jeans you just fit into. If you make your goals small, they're easier to achieve than looking at the whole picture. Instead of saying to yourself "I have 60 lbs to lose" say instead "I have 10 lbs to lose to fit into these jeans".
  • You must design a diet/fitness plan specifically for you
