help with weight loss?

you see, I've met some significant results in weight loss in the last couple of months. I have lost about ten pounds but ever since new years my weight loss has been stagnate. I started my own plan a few months before this. I was cutting meals and nearly killing myself everyday with exercise. I felt a bit weaker every day but I did see results. I lost nearly 30 pounds before I stopped. Instead of this, I began to eat about 3000 calories a day again, as a teenage boy apparently should, and continued to exercise vigorously. I also cut a lot of carbohydrates from my diet and stopped drinking pop.Bad: I gained about 20 of the 30 I lost backGood: My athletic ability has improved unbelievably. I used to have an asthma attack every time I ran about a quarter of the school track and now I can run a full lap with ease. I feel better than I have ever in my life. but I still haven't lost any more weight. the problem here is that I can't seem to find a happy medium between the two plans. I'm afraid my athletic ability will suffer if I stop to much eating but I also fear that I won't lose any weight if I keep my current plan.I don't understand. any extra tips on when and what I should eat and when and how I workout would be really appreciated.

  • you weren't eating enough before. (that actually can lean to breathing problems) you need to calculate your BMR and eat that. never eat below that. with lots of exercise you will probably need to eat more than your BMR but i dont think any more than 200-600 calories more. do what feels best to you. here is a bmr calculator: http://www.webmd.com/diet/healthtool-metabolism-calculatorwhen trying to lose weight, you shouldnt feel weaker. you should feel like you are getting stronger. watching this video might help to clear this up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4fKr4o0Yc4i hope this helps.

those exercises are just going to tone uan they are not even going to build all the muscles in the bodyits not complete enoughyou need running for 30-40 mins to lose weightan also you should be lifting weights first.. to build up your body an muscle toneit will help a lot.... so get into weight lifting, you need to train each muscle 1 a week.. 4-5 gym sessions total.. 40-60 mins. 3 different exercises per musclean eat more proteins

Other Answers:

  • You should try ab crunches
  • All exercise you do will reduce body fat if you burn more calories than your daily intake is. Important thing to realize is that you cannot target fat burning to specific location, the body burns fat evenly and usually last fat to burn is the one which came first. Push-ups, pull-ups, jogging, crunches etc. are good basic moves.
  • Sit ups are good and leg raises are good for abs, try the plank aswell. To loose weight you need more cardio, Skipping rope is good for cardio
  • Exercise can only do so much. You are 120 lbs or so, How tall are you? Doesn't sound like you are overweight if your are of average height.Stretching is, for the most part, worthless. Spot jogging won't do a thing for face or abs. Neither will pushups. You are only 17 and still have baby fat. Wait a couple of years. Your face should change into more of an adult. Running and ab work will get rid of belly fat.

How do I grow my thick hair longer and not thicker?

I have very heavy thick hair. I want to grow about four more inches and it is taking forever. Everything I find online says "add thickness and length.: I have more than enough thickness. I just need length... anyone have this problem? I tried way to grow (not your mother's) shampoo. It did nothing for me. :/Im a graduate student and my hair stylist straightens my hair to make sure my layers are right when i get a trim. I will not try pills or anything and I have heard coconut oil serum may help. In the past year my hair has grown quite a bit so i guess I should be patient. :)My hair is also the oily type and so I have to wash it every day. I have researched this and it is not the wrong thing to do.

How much should i weigh?

okay so i am 5''1 and i weigh 109.8 and i really want to get to 100 is that a healthy weight for me?

Losing Weight Fast - The Side Effects of Losing Weight Fast

Recommended Answer:
Susan, 95 to 100 pounds would only be accurate for your gender and height *if* you have passed puberty and you also have a slender genetic build type (like Meg Ryan or Olivia Newton-John). If not, if you have a more Germanic build type (i.e., wider hips and/or shoulders -- like Sandra Bullock), then 105 to 110 pounds would be more like it. So, don''t just lose weight to reach an arbitrary number. Make sure the number you pick matches your genetic build type.

Note that it is easy to accurately figure out the healthy, post-puberty weight ranges for any height by starting at 5 feet tall with a 90 to 95 pound range for a slender female build. From there, add 5 pounds for each additional inch of height and then add 10 pounds for a more Germanic build. For guys, add 20 pounds to whatever weight you come up with for the same height and build and increase the healthy range by 5 pounds; because, guys have heavier bones and greater average muscle mass.

Cheers.

  • I think you already have a perfect weight, and I don''t think it would be really healthy if you wanted to get to 100 :)
  • No, thats a perfect weight
  • 110 is a healthy weight, and so is 100 for your height. just use this bmi calculator :)

  • Depends on your age, but most likely 100 would still be in the healthy weight range.
  • I would say around 190-220

Well first it''s LOSE not loose. Loose is not tight. OTC wl pills are NOT good to take. Cut out meat, make every meal vegetable based. Check out the vegetarian section, theres a ton of great tips on meals. Ignore the trolls. You''ll lose.

  • Dancing. Dancing is a great way to get a good exercise -- and it''s a lot more fun than push-ups and sit-ups. It''s also a really good time consumer. You could also do little things throughout the day, nothing too big, like stretches. ALWAYS include water in your diet. Make sure you''re getting a good amount of foods such as meat, carbohydrates, fruit, veggies, all that good stuff. They also say painting your kitchen purple could motivate you to lose weight, but i''m not too positive about that one. Just stay active, it''ll pay off eventually!

  • building muscle is better for you in the long run..
  • Lock yourself to a threadmill so you can never escape. put it on maximum speed. place super slippery walls, so you can never ever stop running. If you get tired, and stop running, you are forced to run, because of your legs getting scraped off its skin by the threadmill if you stop running. Have a friend feed you four times a day, do this for a week, and i promisse you, you will get all better, though some pretty nasty feet, which will heal pretty quickly.
  • OK...... first download an app on whichever phone u using which records your running time, distance, etc and you have to give yourself a target maybe 1km a day or any u like and jogging is the best way of losing fats im also fat but after jogs for few month i slim down and don't eat too much fatty stuff especially kfc and etc.....
  • You should go and see your doctor and tell them, just remember losing weight isn't a quick fix but it seems you already know that :)
Ask your doctor about seeing a dietitian to set you up a good meal plan for you to lose weight, and try to get in 30-60 mins of cardio at least, like a jog and walk or something. As you're still pretty young you probably shouldn't go too hard with the exercise but if you get a good meal plan to follow it will work wonders in helping you lose weight ^-^

Drinking protein before bed?

So I'm really skinny and need to gain weight/muscle. And i know to drink a shake before & after a workout, but my friend said to drink one before bed too, and i don't know if that's really correct or will help. So what are the best times to drink protein, and should i drink them everyday?

Six Simple Ways For You To Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
I agree with Antwon. You should be looking for a more complex protein source if you are looking to repair your muscles in your sleep. However, this does not need to come from a protein supplement. You can also do it by drinking milk. However, you will also need a high calorie diet throughout the day, sleep enough every day as well as do the right workout.

In terms of diet, you need to consume way more calories than you are eating right now. This does not mean junk food or fast food 24/7, but rather eating more meals which you have to plan to have more carbohydrates. My practice is to eat 3 meals a day and drink milk 3 times a day. This will ensure that you remain healthy with the benefits of protein to build muscles, calcium to provide strong skeletal structure and also enough calories to be used as a meal easily. The best thing is still to eat home cooked meals which you carefully planned out weeks in advance, but for now why not give this a try and watch the scale go up by 1-2 pounds first? My suggestion is to start by measuring your weight now. Once you have taken note of your weight, take note of the day and time when you do so because this will become the habit for you to do on a consistent basis every week to ensure that you are consuming the right diet. Once you have done that, start by drinking 500ml of milk 3 times a day first. If after a week you still do not gain weight, simply drink an additional 100ml of milk each time. Keep increasing the amount by 100ml each time until you gain 1-2pounds. Once you are there, you are ready for step 2 and 3 which is to workout and sleep well.

In order to gain muscle mass to give you more weight, you need to do an exercise which stimulates a lot of muscles so that you can produce the most growth. You will also need to do a high intensity workout which will cause the muscles to need a lot of energy fast in order to get muscle mass. One guide which does this very well is called the real natural guide to gain weight at http://gohforth.com. I found it a few years ago and have been using/teaching it since. It has not failed me so I'm certain it will produce the same results for you as it meets all the criteria of a good workout to gain muscle mass.

Lastly, sleep is the tip which is often left out. If you do not sleep well or have interrupted sleep pattern, chances are you are going to burn more calories. Coupled with your high metabolism rate and your body's need to use nutrients to repair your muscles, you will lose weight rather than gain it. A good tip I use in the past until now is to sleep and wake up by myself. This means you do not fall asleep with alcohol or sleeping pills. Similarly, you have to wake up yourself rather than be sounded awake by the alarm or the sunlight spilling into your room. I did this on the weekend so that I know the hours I need and simply replicate it everyday and my weight did go up. Remember that weight gain is a long process and you should be looking to gain around 1 pound of muscle a week, any guide out there which promises more is lying or making you gain more fat than muscles.

  • before bed wouldnt hurt, because a lot of muscle recovery is done overnight as you sleep

Switching up my gym routine?

I normally use the treadmill everyday for an hour and I'll usually walk fast on 3.5-3.7 without an incline and then run for 20-30 mins (depending on what my asthma lets me run) on 5.0 without an incline and then the last 20 minutes I'll walk again on 3.5-3.7.
After that I use the machines and do my own pilates moves in an area of the gym and leave. I'm thinking of switching it up this time though because I've been doing this same exact routine for a while now almost everyday and my body is probably really used to it so I want to switch it up.
So my question is..what should I do instead? Should I do 30 minutes on the treadmill, some weights, back on the treadmill then pilates? Should I do treadmill, weights, elliptical, pilates? I don't know, I only find the treadmill to be the most effective for my body compared to the elliptical or any other machine. I'll probably do this new routine for 10 days and then switch it back up to lose weight more effectively.
Can someone help me figure out a good routine or should I just stay with the one I'm on now?

Top Five Tips to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
I always have so much trouble trying to come up with a routine and timing myself, or counting sets and reps so I find that it's easier to just do a workout video for exercise. I use p90x or insanity and I like both of them because the routines aren't the same. p90x you can pick what muscle groups you want to workout and insanity is split up by DVD's ( 60 days long) and the intensity increases each DVD. I like it because it takes like the least amount of time compared to going to the gym.I’m not a gym rat and my schedule is pretty tight so this was a good solution for me. You work out from home, so it cannot get more convenient than that. Could be an easy fix for wanting to switch up your routine!

Is juicing healthy for you.?

Friends keep arguing that there is too much sugar in green juices. And that its not healthyfor you to do. I'm trying to clean out my system and reboot it and get on a healthy diet to loose weight. Any links to research or info on juicing would be great. Thank you.

Lose Weight As You Get Older - Ezine Articles

Recommanded Answer:
This question cannot be answered with a "Yes" or "No". Here, however, are some considerations.

Once you get into juicing, you'll probably realize it was a bad idea. It takes a lot of time, you throw away much of what you're paying for as well as much of your nutrition, and you may suffer GI problems more often, especially if you juice veggies, not to mention that juicing is not as healthful as you think. In general, juicing on a daily basis is a bad idea. My juicer is sitting in a cupboard somewhere gathering dust. If you wan to drink healthy, drink water.

The problem with juicing is the process eliminates much of the fiber and some of the nutrition available in the fruits and vegetables. However, it passes on the sugars and calories in concentrated form. The result is you miss the normal digestive processes and the satisfaction that goes with it so you'll be hungry sooner. What you throw away when you clean your juicer is part of your food and that's not only part of what you're paying for, it's part of what your body needs. For example, the fiber you lose when extracting juice will help keep that 15-20 foot long GI tract (smooth muscle) healthy and you regular.

Also, when you drink your juice it goes much faster because there is no mastication involved. That makes it easy to dump the sugars into your stomach before your blood glucose increases and suppresses your appetite. So, you can drink the juice and get all the fructose of ten oranges in half the time it takes you to eat one orange making eating rather than drinking the obvious best choice for dieters and the best way to get all nutrition the fruits and veggies have to offer.

Also, if the fruit or vegetable contains a systemic bacteria such as e.coli (which caused an epidemic among spinach eaters in the US a few years ago), you'll get much more of the bacteria by juicing. The same applies to contaminants such as pesticides which are sometimes spilled in the fields and end up in the food in trace amounts. Juicing not only concentrates the good substances, but the bad ones as well.

Time is another problem with juicing. If you can save one minute per day at the end of a year you'll have six hours to spend doing what you want. That's dinner and a movie. When you find out how much time is takes to shop for fruits and veggies, prep them, juice them, and clean up after, if you juice daily you're going to spend about one whole week of 24 hours days (168 hours of your life) doing nothing but making juice each year.

Eating food is a natural process. Extracting juice and drinking it, it not a natural process. Generally, the natural way is better because we have evolved using it.

Good luck and good health!!

  • Your friends are crazy, watch fat sick and nearly dead, It changed my life.
  • I wonder what your friends are putting in their green drink? Juicing is good for you if you are juicing healthy foods which normally consist of vegetables and some fruit. As long as you don't add sugar or use store bought fruit juice then it's perfectly healthy.
I make a green drink of kale, broccoli, cucumber, fresh squeezed lemon juice, mix of fresh berries and filtered water. It's not that great tasting but I feel hella good!
ps. Stay away from ready made juices and smoothies.
  • Depends how your body handles it. If you eat as well as juicing then you will get fat.

If you juice all day, make sure it's not high in sugar because sugar IS FAT!!

Juicing alone will make you lose weight, but he also added exercising (walking).

Losing 10 lbs a month is a good and safe target. Any faster weight loss is likely to be temporary only and in most cases you regain it all.

Running, jogging, cycling, swimming, dancing, push ups, sit ups, squats, brisk walking and power walking all help for weight loss but dieting helps more.

One of the healthiest weight loss diets is the DASH diet.

The healthy DASH diet can help you lose weight safely and effectively, lower your cholesterol and lower your blood pressure.

It is based on an eating plan rich in fruits and vegetables, and low-fat or non-fat dairy, with whole grains. It is a high fiber, low to moderate fat diet, and is rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

You can see further details in a web search for "dash diet" + "lose weight".

  • chicken eat lean chicken for protein. You still have to eat protein so try eating chicken or fish. boil it instead of frying it.

Eat brown rice instead of white rice...

instead of candy eat a fruit.

replace chips/junk food w/ salads and greens. Maybe have carrots or celery to eat.

drink lots of water... and most importantly,

work out. jog. play a sport.
  • Simple walking is good.
Swimming is quite good too, probably doing laps for about 1/2 hour per day, for as many days per week as you can.
You having had recent back surgery, I would consult your doctor before doing the more aggressive forms of exercise.
  • eat less.. it's pretty simple
