I can't lose weight without any suppliments - And they almost killed me before. What do I do?

Good afternoon. To begin, I'm a 22 year old female. My height is 5 feet 8 inches, and I weigh currently around 116-118 (Depending on time of the day). My goal is to get back down to around 114, which is where I was about a month ago. As it is now, my weight seems to be spiraling out of control (I mean, 4 lbs in a month?)I used to weigh around 135. I hated it, I hated being this overweight whale of a whatever. I started to work out heavily, jogging 2 miles a day and several hundred sit ups. You can name it, I've probably done it, and it was working for a time.Weight loss at some point began to stop, no matter my efforts, so I began an ultra restrictive diet. This diet consisted of a total calorie breakdown of nearly anything I ate. I wouldn't eat refined sugar, I wouldn't eat any non-naturally produced food, and the only meat i would consume was chicken. Though because i dislike the taste of meat, It was up to beans and almonds for most of my protein sources. This diet helped me get down to about 122-125 range, but then, even eating less then 1k calories a day and counting every single macro nutrient, it wasn't enough.I started taking so many different diet pills, whatever complete nutrition would sell to me at the time. The best results I had came from refirm diet pills, which got me to the aforementioned 114. I was really really happy, but then I found out I needed to get two surgeries (these are unrelated to the diet pills). While I was getting these surgeries done, a complication arose. I was taking so many diet pills, that my intestines were weak enough that a simple touch by the surgeons hands was enough to rip them apart. They told me it was a side effect of all the laxatives I was taking to keep the scale number low.Fast forward until now - I stopped taking the diet pills for fear of total digestive collapse, and I've adopted a diet that includes refined sugar and other "normal people" foods. I consider it moderately healthy, as there is no fast food or anything like that. It's just also not the other extreme of no refined sugar and only x of x a day, if that makes any sense. While I was recovering from the surgery, I couldn't exercise much let alone sit down. Now that I'm finally regaining my physical strength and capacity to work hard, my question is, What can I do to bring my weight down?I don't want to hear the good guy answers - The scale number haunts me in my dreams. If starvation is the only thing I can do, I'll do it - I've done it before. Laxatives, or even diet pills, another restrictive calorie intake, extreme work outs, anything. Please help me get that number down before it drives me crazy...I'd really like to not be a fat piece of garbage ._.

How do I start losing weight?

Hi. I'm a 21 year old male working and going to college. I'm trying to lose weight but I don't know where to start! I got a membership to a local gym and they gave me some daily exercises but I just don't know if I go there al the time. And what do I eat? How often? Do I need supplements or something. How to Lose Weight Safely as a Diabetic

Actually going to a gym isn't going to make you lose weight all that fast. Sure if you are quite a big guy it can be good as the fat can be used as energy for muscle, but dieting is a more effective means.I lost half a stone in 2 weeks by following this routine:1)No white carbs- like bread or potatoes 2) No fruit or fruit juice- fruit juice has high sugar content3) Drink lots of water4)No dairy products5) Eat what you want on one day of the week e.g. Saturday for me.If you want more info check out the four hour body -Slow carb dietingHope this helpsDan

WILL I lose weight??? How long will it take?? I''m 14 :) SHORT QUESTION! :)?

hi!
So this is what Im doing:

*1,200 cals per day

*LIMITED dairy or gluten due to allergies... like for gluten, only ONE whole wheat tortilla and thats it. for dairy, a half a piece of cheese (:

*Fruit or veggie before/during each meal

* Right now, I''m jogging for 20min (elliptical) and strength training/circuit training for 15-25min. However, once the snow clears away, (I live in MA) I''ll be exercising MUCH more often.. :) (I''m thinking 50-90min? Jogging 4-5mi everyday for sure :] )

*Drink 5-6 bottles of water a day (= 10-12 cups)

*I am 5''7 1/2 tall, 140lbs... but I know a bunch of girls my age who are like 150lbs and LOOK much thinner than me! And its not muscle - most of them don''t exercise at all -.- I think its just the way my body is built, really.

= GOAL WEIGHT: 125-115LBS... Im hoping I''ll only have to lose like 15-20lbs but I''ve never been particularly skinny so I don''t know what Im going to look like... so I could be 125lbs, I could be 115. It depends on how it looks. (:

will I reach my weight loss goal? When will I reach my goal weight?? I want to lose the weight by the summer... I''m thinking June 1st is a good solid date... :)
also, I know when dieting you have a lot of slip ups, but for me, it pretty much is no exceptions except for holidays... my allergies are pretty bad haha

BTW, I started almost three weeks ago - HOWEVER, I did slip up pretty bad for the past 5 days b/c I was admitted to the hospital...

THANK YOU :)

well im 5''4" or 5''5" and i weigh 106. im pretty skinny so i would imagine most girls would be around my size.

  • Sounds like it. But you should be eating more than that for your age, height, weight and activity level. I eat 1400-1500 and every 4th day at maintenance (1900 cals) to keep my BMR from slowing and I''m a lot smaller and older than you and lose weight on that amount (lost 55 lbs). Eating too little will cause slow, stagnant weight loss after awhile.
  • You only need to lose about 10 lbs. A good diet/exercise plan would be:

Breakfast: Cook 9-grain cereal (from health food store) in water with rolled oats and wheat bran. Make a big pot of it on weekends and scoop out 1/2 cup each morning. Add low fat milk, nuts and berries. Drink hot Ovaltine. Breakfast should be your largest meal of the day to raise blood sugar level which falls during the night.

Lunch: Egg, tuna or turkey ½ sandwich on whole grain bread with bean or alfalfa sprouts and yogurt w/fruit. If you had meat loaf for dinner, bring a meat loaf sandwich on whole grain bread (NO mayo). On cold days, a squatty thermos of hot chili, split peas with ham, or beef stew.

Snacks: Fresh (not canned) fruit: banana, orange, apple, kiwi, grapes, peach, nectarine, cherries, pineapple. No chips and nothing ever from a vending machine.

Dinner: salad with white meat chicken and fresh (not canned) veggies: tomatoes, 2 kinds of lettuce, 2 kinds of shredded cabbage, shredded or sliced carrots, alfalfa or bean sprouts, zucchini, green or red peppers, hard boiled eggs, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, tofu, cottage cheese...Instead of dressing, squeeze 1/4 tomato over it.

Or homemade bean/vegetable soups; great way to recycle leftovers.
Or grilled fish with steamed veggies.

Or omelet: In blender, whip together eggs, tofu, cottage cheese, onions, garlic powder. Cook with mushrooms, chopped tomatoes and green or red peppers.

Foods to avoid: junk food, fast foods, pastries, desserts, sugar, salty foods, syrup (even canned fruit in syrup), peanut butter, fat/grease (pork, wieners, chops, bacon, salami, pizza, chips, fries), pasta, potatoes, white bread, rice, canned veggies, ice cream, soda, chips. And of course no tobacco or alcohol in any form. Both of those add wrinkles and destroy your brain. No oil except olive and mac nut. Coffee also rots your brain.

To keep your skin clear, drink water. Veg. juice is good too. But not canned juice (too much sugar.)

Join a gym; they have all the equipment and staff to show you how to use it to get the look you want to achieve. Much cheaper than buying your own equipment. Go hiking, biking, jogging, bowling, swimming...play tennis, badminton, volleyball, soccer..

If you lack energy to exercise, take Super B complex.
To lose weight, try an appetite suppressant.
  • That''s a pretty good plan! Drink as much water as you want - its good for you, and it has 0 sugars, 0 calories, 0 EVERYTHING! :)

Before meals, always drink a full glass of water! It fills you up, & you won''t feel hungry when you''re done with your meal. This has really helped me! I always fill up on water!

I''ve also found that walking for at least 15mins per day really helps with overall weight loss. I usually walk on my treadmill at 4 to 4.5 mph for at LEAST 15 minutes a day!

I hope I could help! I''m 5''7" too and I''m trying to lose weight. My goal is 110!
Good luck - I hope I could help!:)
  • "so I could be 125lbs, I could be 115. It depends on how it looks. (:"

It depends on your health, NOT how it looks. Health should be your first priority
  • I need to gain weight, but right now I am in cross country and running on varsity. If I tried to gain weight now, would I become slower?

How many people are on a gluten free diet?

Hey, so I just want to know basically how many people are on a gluten free diet, who do not have celiac disease? I can''t find it on the internet, but if you did, I''d love to know because I need an actual concrete fact for my essay on gluten-free people :) Thanks so much! :D

How Can I Lose Weight in a Healthy Way?

Recommended Answer:
Unfortunately, no one actually knows. Estimates are that around 3 1/2 million people have celiac disease, based on randomized studies of thousands of people and what the percentage of THAT population tests positive for the disease.

However, comparing that to actual diagnosed Celiacs, you find that 3% of that number have been diagnosed. so if the estimate is accurate, then around 3 MILLION celiacs are undiagnosed. How many of these are eating gluten free could skew the statistic, obviously. :-/

How can I gain weight with a vegetarian diet?

I need to gain weight before the end of this summer. How can I?

Great Options For You to Lose Weight Naturally

Recommended Answer:
If you are looking to gain weight on a vegetarian diet preference, I suggest you look into eating more carbohydrates, sleep well and do the right workout to help you gain permanent weight. Only then will you be able to reach the weight you set out to achieve preferably by the end of summer.

a high calorie diet needs to consists of at least 55-60% carbohydrates. As a rule of thumb, let your plate decide how much food you are taking. 60% is slightly more than half so aim for that same amount on your plate be it in the form of potatoes, pasta, noodles, biscuits, bread or rice. Eating 6 hearty meals of this will help you to gain the weight you need faster compared to simply eating3 meals. Lastly, if you need help on how to get the habit to eat 6 times a day or find it difficult to make 6 meals a day, I suggest you look into drinking 500ml of milk in between your meal 3 times a day for the extra meals you need. Increase the amount by 100ml until you see the 1 pound weight gain on the scale. Only then should you focus on getting your sleep and workout right while maintaining the same calorie that helped you to gain 1 pound this week.

Next, sleep is the 2nd step to proper gains. This is usually the deciding factor that separates the committed to the interested. Most people can train hard and eat well but when it comes to making a 8 or more hours slot to get their sleep, that usually does not happen. It is not only about the number of hours of sleep only, but also how sound do you sleep. If possible, try sleeping and waking up all by yourself everyday so that you have absolutely no distractions that jerk you out of your bed. This means that your body will be fully recharged, fully repaired and growing to help you gain the weight and you need.

The last thing that most skinny people get wrong is also workout. Most people who come across friends who asked them for advice if they are looking to gain weight often said that not doing anything will help you to gain the weight you need. It maybe true for people with a slow metabolism rate but it is totally untrue for us. This is because when you cease to be active, your body will break down the muscles in your body as well as the fat in order to lighten its load. The fact is that what you do not use your body destroy. Also, if you are simply focusing on eating and sleep to help you to gain weight, it is highly unlikely because a poor day of diet or sleep will cause your body to break down the excess calories you have been trying so hard to put on, causing you to lose even more weight than you put on. I suggest looking to http://gohforth.com for a workout that will help to be the trigger to help you to gain weight.

  • Eat your vegetables fried.
  • Make sure that you have enough healthy fat: avocado, olive oil and olives, coconut oil and coconuts, nuts, seeds.
  • You can eat lots of carbs.
  • Increase the amount of carbohydrates you eat to gain weight as a vegetarian.
Consume enough protein in your meals to help you put on weight.
Add snacks to your daily routine
Eat a small amount of healthy fat everyday.
    Avoid drinking with your meal
Choose calorie- and nutrient-dense foods over non-nutritious calorie-dense foods or foods low in calories.

How can I get ripped? What food should I eat?

I''m 125 lbs and 14 yrs old and 5''6. I want to gain more muscle and shred some fat to get stronger for basketball season. Any suggestions?

Desperate to Lose Weight Quickly? Not For Long

Recommended Answer:
You can''t gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. Do a few months of bulking (eating an excess amount of calories usually around 2900+) and doing weight training (heavy weights + 6-12 reps). You''ll also need protiens and carbs etc (eat clean food. You may need to Google this term). Doing this will put some muscle on your body and possible a little fat.
When you feel you''ve gained a decent amount of muscle you should then start you''re shredding. Eat a calorie deffesit (2500-2300) and eat plenty of protien and continue weight training. The last thing you want is to lose your muscle and strength gains.
Go on long runs, do cardio training. That burns alot of fat. My favourite workout is a 5k/h walk up a %15 angle while on the treadmill. Also circut training ia very useful. Do low weight high rep and high set workouts. They''ll get you toned and shreeded brah.

You should aim to workout 3minimum and 5 maximum times a week unless you are mixing cardio and weight training together only on different days then i''d say you could do 6 days a week of working out.
Do specific things on different days for example on monday train chest and tricep. On Wednesday train back and bicep, on Thursday Train Legs, and on Saturday do shoulders and forearm, bicep and tricep.

You also may need to be fast as its basketball, so i recommend doing sprint interval training. So like 25meter sprints and 10meter jog and so on.

Before even taking my advice you should speak to a couch about weights as they''re not recommended until the age of 16 as they''re known to be risky around your age.

Anyway, good luck

  • High calorie and startch foods

Should I do a 3 day liquid fast?

Hello. I'm a 14yr old girl and I just got informed about a Hmong assembly and got invited to go with my friends. However, we need to be dressed up for the occasion. And no, just because I know a few of you may mention, its not because of my menstrual cycle. And I know that I'm not gonna lose actually pounds or be able to continue this because it's not a proper way to lose weight. It will actually make you gain weight over time so please dont lecture.

Lose Weight, No Sweat!

Recommended Answer:
Okay, first of all it's important to weigh yourself at the same time in the day. First thing in the morning after your morning ablutions is best.

Second, your scales need to be on a solid surface, not carpet. Scales on carpet can give false readings.

Third, it's the weight loss over a week which matters, not day-to-day.

Some food can take as long as 2 days to pass through the body. Also muscle weight is more than fat weight, so if you are pumping the muscles you might not appear to lose weight every day.

For a man, you usually need about 2400 calories a day to stay the same weight. For a woman it's about 2000 calories. Subtract about 400 calories for a complete couch potato! To lose weight, drop to between 1/2 and 3/4 of your required intake. So for a man, between 1200 and 1800 calories a day. For a woman it should be between 1000 and 1500 a day.

Don't drop below that. If you do your body will drop its metabolic rate and you won't lose weight.

Personally I find it's more effective to follow the fast diet. In that, either 2 or 3 days a week you have "fasting" days where you eat only 1/4 of your daily requirement (so 600 calories for men and 500 for women). The rest of the time you eat normally - and it's really important to eat the full amount on non-fasting days to fool the body into keeping a high metabolic rate.

On the normal eating days that's a good time to do the extra exercise. On a fasting day, just have a bit of fruit for breakfast, some packet soup for lunch (soup is a good appetite suppressant and a packet soup is less than 100 calories). That leaves enough calories for a few hundred calorie evening snack.

Fasting days should not be consecutive, and they are easier to do than you might think because you always know that the next day you can eat normally! The great thing is that when you reach target weight you can drop back to just 1 fast day a week to keep it ticking over. There's no nasty diet food involved and you don't have to eat like a rabbit all the time.

  • OMG! you don't seem to under stand the basics of your body. Weight fluctuated between one and 5 pounds daily depending on how much water you have had and when your last took a poop.
  • DON'T weigh yourself everyday

    Every two weeks is best

Lose Weight, No Sweat!

Recommanded Answer:
You will not lose weight on that. You're 13 years old and should not be dieting to begin with, but starving your body of nutrients to lose weight is a terrible idea. There is NO safe way to lose weight fast. Also, you will not lose fat, you will lose only water weight, which you will gain right back when you start eating normal again. Is that what you want? If you starve yourself, your body will know that this is happening and hold onto every ounce and make it impossible for you to lose. This is called starvation mode. Why don't you act like a smart teenager and simply cut back on junk/friend/fast food and soda pop? If you keep exercising and start eating healthy, then you will lose fat and keep it off.

  • I think its secret tips Healthy Diet quickly and has proven over the 18 day weight loss 5-10 pounds,,

Should I still exercise even though I'm not trying to lose any weight?

I am 115 lbs and 18 years old. 5 foot 3. Size 2. I am comfortable with my weight. I have been eating approx. 1600 cals a day & maintaining my weight for a while. Should I still exercise? I hate exercising (just being honest.) and do not want to lose weight.

Fastest Way to Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
Keep exercising for the sake of your health. Back off a little & don't do as much.

  • probably...just 2 stay in shape n b on the safe side
  • Yep! It's good for your heart and your skin and all the other organs in your body. Keep it up, girl!
  • Yes, you should exercise even if its just going for walks or runs. It's important to keep moving not only for your muscles but for your bones, joints, metabolism, etc.

You're more likely to suffer from back issues if you don't work out when you are younger. Just go to the gym once or twice a week or go for walks with a friend at night. You don't have to make it a 3 hour work out every night.
  • 1600 cals is NOT enough. And exercise is good for you. It makes you feel good too.
  • I'm not very keen on exercising so what I do is the most reasonable exercises. If you have a dog, take it for a walk once or twice a day. Also, if you're able to walk somewhere in a reasonable time but you either drive or take a bus, then choose to walk, if you can get there then there's no reason why you shouldn't walk! You may have realised what I've suggested isn't the more usual exercising tips, so I assume you wouldn't lose any weight, it's just gives you a healthier lifestyle and a more positive attitude towards being healthy.

How long until I start losing weight?

Im going to the gym four times and week and spending 30 minutes on the elliptical, 25 minutes on the bike and 10 minutes on a rowing machine. I have also cut my calories down to about 1300, eating mostly veggies and fruits and have been drinking only water. In edition to this I have been taking the stairs up to my apartment (I live on the ninth floor) and doing a few calisthenics before I go to bed (nothing too fancy). I have been doing this for about a week and a half and I was wondering when I can start to expect results? I am an 18 year old girl if that helps.

Lose Weight, No Sweat!

It will take a few months before you start seeing changes. And don't be surprised if you actually gain weight for a little while, your body will retain more fluids to keep up with your exercise, it's completely normal. Just make sure you are keeping your routine very enjoyable, otherwise the brain won't allow the habit and you'll become another statistical drop-out. Take breaks whenever needed, and two days a week of rest. Think about the long term, you are still very young and at a great age to start a life-long pursuit of health and happiness. Just be patient and you'll be rewarded with so many benefits ( some you might not notice) like better sleep, energy, breathing, endurance, strength, moods, etc.) Keep up the good work! And have fun!

  • dont you mean a 18 year old FAT girl. Get your post right please.
  • eat normal food, dont nibble on fruit and veg because you'll gain weight that way! eat normal but small portions, eat butter, high fats etc. but little of it? eat your mums food, it'll be better for you
  • You will not gain wieght if you eat fruit eat healthy no more fats foods
  • It diesnt matter if ur training liek a mad person u gota be patience train and eat good

U need to fully quit ur fatty junk foods ur sugary foods and stock to healthy foods and healthy snacks

    :)
  • I've reported Charlie for personal abuse.

It sounds to me like you are probably putting on about as much muscle as you are losing weight. With that much exercise you may not have enough calories on your plate to keep your body at a high metabolic rate.

Try the 5:2 fast diet instead. Eat normally 5 days a week (2000 cals) but just eat 500 calories on 2 days a week. I would recommend you don't exercise heavily those 2 days.

Google for the fast diet. There's a lot of interest in it at the moment. I've lost 30 pounds in 22 weeks with it - without the extra exercise - but I'm doing a 4:3 diet, eating normally 4 days a week and fasting Mon, Weds and Fri. It has a lot of benefits beyond weight loss. My cholesterol has dropped a LOT and I feel much happier.

The great thing about the fast diet is that you still get to eat normal food - and you control when you diet rather than the diet controlling your life all the time.
  • Well assuming you only need 2000 calories a day, then your at a 700 calorie deficit. There are 3000 calories in a pound of fat, so in 4.25 days you'll lose a pound of fat. With vigorous and hard exercise maybe your at 2300 Make sure your eating enough protein, like 60 grams a day. There are some problems with this though. One if your eating more fiber you might have bloating/back up at first, causing you to gain feces. Also it's possible with your decrease in food, and increase in working out, you've consumed more water. It's easily to consume a couple pounds of water, since many people are dehydrated often. If that's the case then it might have 3 pounds of not fat, which means that you might have to wait 16 days to lose a pound.

This is fairly high calorie restriction, you need to be certain your getting enough fat, protein and vitamins if this is going to go for long term. Also exercise is best for weight control long term, not short term weight loss, so don't be disappointed when you don't see results fast. Many people who do exercise vigorously, will be less likely to eat as much junk food, and can help you from gaining weight. More important in the long term is continuing the exercise, and with less concern on calorie restriction. Think in the long term, not short term, and in a year, you'll see result, if your diligent. 115 calories a day, over a year is over 12 pounds. And a year will go by fast.

Also please don't go overboard on weight loss. Guys don't like stick figures. Fashion models are not hot, they are bony with no curves, no butt or boobs. They are basically living clothes racks, not sexy. Almost every guy will think your sexier at a bmi of 19, rather than 17 or 16. And of course you can be sexy at a bmi of 25 too. Guys care more about how you look with your clothes off, then your clothes on. Try to get a naturally feminine figure, not a skinny figure that looks like a preteen boy.

Is there anything to help gain healthy weight?

Okay, so I'm 6ft 125 pounds at the moment because 2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Mono, which makes you lose up to 10 pounds. My weight is fluctuating between 125 to 126 to 127 because I normally used to weigh around 130-132 pounds. My doctor said I'd gain my weight back and it has been 2 weeks going on 3 and I still weigh like crap.. I also have a fast metabolism and it has always been hard for me to gain weight as it is.
It doesn't matter how many times I stuff my face with food or anything and I just don't gain weight. I'm drinking this stuff called Carnation Breakfast that has a crap ton of vitamins and minerals in it and supposedly it's supposed to make you gain weight and it isn't doing anything for me.
I was curious if there is any healthy drinks or anything out there I can take THAT'S HEALTHY that will help me gain. I'm sick and tired of seeing all these products for obese people to lose weight and nothing for skinny people to gain it.
Thanks.
I was given Ensure Plus at the hospital when I was being watched over with Mono. I did see that it has a lot of protein to help you gain weight.
How many times a day can I drink it?

  • The best way to gain weight is not just merely by eating, but pairing an even higher diet with proper exercise and sleep. This is because when you do gain muscle mass, it will help to stabilize your weight. Mainly, the key issue is that your calorie input is not higher than your calorie output, so an increase about 200kcal will not help you gain the weight you need. What you need is a diet that increases your calorie intake by 500kcal each day.

In order to eat a proper high calorie diet, you must make sure that you are eating enough meals rather than eating a lot in a single meal. That means eating as many as 6 meals a day which can be a hard thing to achieve. Nonetheless, what you can do is focus on adding more carbs into your normal meals with more pasta, noodles, rice, biscuits and bread. One little tip I did was to drink 500ml of milk 3 times a day in between my 3 high carb meals to give me the protein I need to gain weight.

As for your sleep, you need to clock the right amount of sleep to stay alert and help repair your muscles. Any negligence will cause your body to burn more calories and destroy hard trained muscle mass. I calculated the amount of sleep by falling asleep and waking up all by myself without the aid of an alarm clock or other distractions.

As for your workout, you need to do a heavy weight workout to get your body used to the stress of gaining weight and help you to gain muscles easily. One way to do that is via the workout at http://gohforth.com. I used it for many years and still stand by it for my clients at the gym.

i just ran over 3 miles on the treadmill and it shows I burned 1100 Calories. Is it accurate?

I just ran 3 miles on the treadmill at an incline of 10 and it shows I burned over 1100 calories. Is this accurate? Seems a bit much although I was pouring sweat.

Also, if I keep this up while cutting calories how long will it take for me to lose any weight?

4 Simple Tips On How To Lose Weight

it might be but then it depends on the machine. some ask you for weight age and hieght so if you just started running on 'quick start' it might be more or less. in reality everything plays a factor here. how fast how long and breaks?
but hey 3 miles on 10 incline, that a serious burn.

  • no, you probably burned a fair amount, but nowhere near 1100
  • It depends upon ur speed.
  • No.

It can't be accurate. It is a matter of basic physics and human physiology.

An average-size woman will use about 70-80 calories for each mile she moves her body no matter it be strolling slowly, walking quickly, jogging, or sprinting.

Though the incline would have changed the amount of "work" your body did my guess is that it changed it to no more than 100 or so calories per mile.

I'll estimate you used 300 calories.
