how to keep up with my stamina when running?

I started cross country just today and I realized I am not as good as I was last year. I lost some stamina and I just ran two laps and I was practically dead. I do admit I did gain some weight over the summer and yeah. I honestly love running but soon my team is going to run 1.88 miles and I was perfectly fine last year. but I only ran two laps and I was out of breath. we're gonna run the 1.88 course in like five days and worried. I was the top runner of the girls and I don't know what I should do now...I lost so much stamina and my team needs my help. also I feel like I'm gonna throw up whenever I run a lot. please help!

How to Lose Weight Using a Treadmill

Recommended Answer:

Hi.Do you remember when you first started running? What you did to get as good as you were? Just follow that guideline again. If you were doing interval workouts or running 3 days a week, then do it all over again

Other Answers:

  • The only thing you can really do now is train and do your best. Training your hardest at practices is really the only way to improve. A mix of speed work and distance will help. Make sure to control your breathing and to hydrate throughout the day. You could be eating too close to practice or drinking too much water before you run, and this could be making you feel like your going to throw up. Stay hydrated, but don't gulp down a water bottle 10 mins before you run, bc it could make you feel nauseous. Don't worry though, I'm sure you just need to get back into the groove of things and you'll be fine:) Good luck, hope I helped!
  • Practice consuming more antioxidants, stretch more, run more, exercise more.
  • Hey!! I have the same problem but I I started cross country one 1 week ago. Well...I didn't but because I didn't turn in my physical. So I've only started only 2 days....I haven't been running in a LONG time and e are running 2 miles. I'm starting practice tommarow again every week. I'm the slowest right now and losing motivation. My stamina and endurance are low also my breathing is the biggest problem. Why don't you MSG me and we can talk about this. Im in 8th grade.

Does anybody find themselves always hungry on a vegan diet? Tofu question?

This is my main concern turning veganAlso Is tofu unhealthy to have 2-3 times a week (weight loss wise)

How to Detox Your Body and Lose Weight at The Same Time

Recommended Answer:

I do find myself hungrier as a vegan, yes, but that just means I eat more foods fortified with protein and eat more often. Although I'm eating more now than I did as a meat-eater, I've actually watched my weight drop drastically. Tofu is very healthy to consume 2-3 times a week. I eat tofu pretty much every day and I am very fit and healthy, according to my doctor.

Other Answers:

  • Tofu is healthy, I eat it at least five times a week. No vegan should be hungry maybe your not eating enough. Fill up on fruit, vegetables and cereal, if your hungry eat until you are full just eat healthy food. I am never hungry, I eat until I am full, your body tells you when to stop.
  • After I became vegan, I did find myself eating more often. My weight remained healthy, however, Starchy vegetables and sugary fruits are very low in calories, and you may need to eat more to maintain your weight. For instance, a medium potato only has 100 calories, and a large peach only has 86 calories. By going to a nutrition data website, you can look up the calorie, protein, and vitamin/mineral content of the foods that you eat. One such website is www.nutritiondata.com .

I never understood how you lose weight by exercising more?

When i say this i mean how when you excercise more your supposed to eat more aswell. How are you supposed to lose weight if your eating more because your excercising more?

How to Lose Weight as a Kid

Recommended Answer:

Exercise more, burn more calories...even if you are eating slightly more calories to fuel the exercise, there should still be an increased deficit to cause fat loss...also consider exercise boosts the metabolism (burn more calories) and often adds muscle tissue to the body (which causes a higher calorie burn even at rest)...However, fat loss is 70 - 80% diet, and only 30% or less based on your exercise...so if a person isn't eating right (eating the correct foods and the proper amounts of them) all the exercise in the world isn't going to give them the lasting results they desire...

Other Answers:

  • See If you cut back in foods, you reduce the calories therefore getting slimmer. But if you exercise, you'll get fitter, healthier and muscles (so you maybe heavier on the scales). Also, exercise burns calories. So yeahhh. And all in all, you want a calorie deficit right? So exercise burns calories and eating less mean consuming less calories.

Are suspenders appropriate for my situation?

I have been losing weight monthly. I am 5'11 male. i used to weigh 270 but I now weigh 220 and I am still trying to lose more weight. I can no longer use a belt to hold my pants up. I would buy a new pair of pants but if I end up losing another 20+ pounds then i will have to buy a new pair...I was thinking I could wear suspenders until my pants and shorts are too big, then I will buy new pants and shorts. My final goal is 170

How can I make sure I dont lose muscle during track season?

Wrestling is ending now and next I''ll start track. I''m very good at track and once it starts I run constantly. Every season I tend to lose a lot of weight and I''m afraid that I will lose all the muscle I gained from wrestling is there any way that I can preserve muscle while I run and make sure it doesn''t die out?

Why People Want to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
Workout 3 times a week and eat at least 0.8 grams of protein per lb of bodyweight. Also make sure you eat enough, eat alot of carbs, particularly pasta.

This will be your routine

Workout 1 - Chest and Triceps
Workout 2 - Back and Biceps
Workout 3 - Legs and Shoulders

12 sets per muscle group of 6-12 repetitions each set

  • Work out in your spare time.
  • Eat a carb jelly before running or have a good meal 1-2 hours before,so you make sure you dont end up burning your hard earned muscles. Some supplements can help too.
Casein (a type of protein) is dissolved very slowly in your body and it makes a great pre-workout (and pre-run too) supplement.

Have you ever taken Alli, the diet pill.?

Hi, I am looking for the best kick start diet pill. I have gained over 30lbs in the year of 2012. I have tired green coffee bean, and advocare.
Let me know what has worked for you! Thanks

Why Don''t I Lose Weight?

Recommended Answer:
I have never taken Alli. Some of the side-effects I''d read about, to me, just weren''t worth it to even try it. I haven''t taken anything to help with weight loss except chromium picolate. It is supposed to help you lose weight, but I can''t say one way or another if it helped me or not as I was already losing weight without it.

In all honesty, the best kick start to a diet is to kick the food and eating habits to the curb that helped you gain the weight, and pick up sensible eating habits and sensible exercise habits. 30 lbs in a year is a good bit to have gained, make sure you speak to your doctor. Unless you just really decided to feast last year and not exercise at all, gaining that kind of weight can be a sign of a problem...anything from depression to a metabolic or thyroid issue. Just mentioning that because if there''s an underlying issue such as that, losing weight can be nearly impossible until the underlying problem is resolved. Although, with depression not caused by metabolic or thyroid problem, losing weight can be very possible if you can get and maintain motivation, and with the weight loss, many times comes relief of the depression.

Why am I not losing weight?

I''ve being going to the gym for a month now, and have been given an excellent program designed for me. I burn at least 500kcal every second day, but usually more, and more often. This is done doing both weights and cardio. I have a BMR around 1650, and have been told to eat 1500kcal a day. I''ve stuck to it religiously. In theory, I should have lost weight, or at least lost fat and put on muscle, but I haven''t seen any changes in me at all. What is it that I''m missing?

I am a 5''3", 175lbs, 21yo female who desperately wants to be 45lbs lighter.

How to Lose Weight Really Fast in 3 Easy Steps

Recommended Answer:
1st I applaud you for the ambition and desire to lose weight. I lost 45 pounds in 19 months. I don''t do gyms or whatnot. All I did is consume 500 less calories than I eat. I also try to walk 2 to 3 miles a day. I''m also not in a hurry to lose the weight. It took me 10 years to gain 60 pounds and I expect to take 3 years to take it all off.

Losing weight involves a lifestyle change, will power, and above all patience. Not just a change in diet and not repetitions at some gym. If you try to do it too fast your body will go into some type of survival mode and you will get weird cravings for food and crash the diet and binge.

Some facts here. Each pound of body fat is about 3500 calories. 500 calorie deficit a day would take 7 days to lose a pound. Just that alone will allow you to lose 45 pounds in 45 weeks. Muscle weighs more than fat so if you are working out and building muscle while losing weigh you could see slower results from that too. Your body requires more calories at 175 pounds to maintain that weight than it needs at 130 pounds so if you are currently consuming 2500 calories now just to maintain that weight and you cut your food intake to 2000 calories as you lose weight you should keep decreasing your calorie intake proportionally to keep losing weight. There are charts on the internet that can help. Just search for them. As exercising for me goes, I burn only 450 calories in a 3 mile walk in the cold wet snow. It''s easier for me to just give up the 400 calorie pop tart. Take an account of what your average day''s caloric intake is from the types of food you are eating and go online and find a chart of your body''s daily calorie requirements are and do some simple math to figure out how much food to reduce. Then just make smaller portions of what you are eating now. One of the things I got into while on a weight loss diet regimen was to start making my own food from fresh ingredients. I made myself work for my calories instead of buying mass produced crap loaded with artificial and preserved whatever. I also take a break from the diet and maintain a weight for several months or even let it go back up a tad before starting again. I do this so I relieve stress on my body. My thinking is that when I''m losing weight my body is actually consuming itself to make up the deficit. I want to give it a break to rest. Notice my weight loss scheme involves mostly what I consume and not much about exercise? Exercising is ok, I consider those calories lost a bonus but as I stated before I get greater and faster benefit just cutting out some of the crap I eat.

Next is to make sure you are eating a balanced diet. Not too many carbs and sugars and too few meats or vice versa. Stay away from sugars and stay well hydrated. Drink a lot of water. Can''t stress that enough.

Last part and probably the most important is the psychological aspect of dieting and weight loss. If you adjust your consumption of calories as above with a healthy well balanced diet with some exercise you will ajust to it pretty easily. Kind of like a set it and forget it once the routine is established. Don''t make your weight loss objective such a priority of your life to a point where you are constantly thinking about it. Not only will that cause you unnecessary stress and anxiety it will depress you. Just relax and enjoy life while your doing it and don''t worry about it. You''ll get there.

  • U could be gaining musclet at same time so the loss I weight is not showing try taking measurements
  • Mix up your calories every now and then. If you constantly eat 1500kcal per day, drop it down to 1400kcal for a week or so. You need to keep tricking your body so it won''t get stuck in a rut. The same thing happened to me. You reach a plateau, so you need to make small changes.
  • Rejoice! That’s the holy grail of fat loss. How can you tell if you’re losing fat and gaining lean body mass? Track your body fat percentage over several weeks. You may see your weight staying the same but your body fat percentage dropping.
If you don’t think that any of these reasons apply to you, you may want to discuss your concerns with a doctor. Be sure to keep a detailed log of your foods and activities so that your doctor can get a better idea of the whole picture.

Working out and Eating Healty but no weight loss?

So I've been working out 6 days a week for a couple months now. I lost 7 pounds in the beginning just working out and not changing up my diet too much and then I started to plateau at my weight loss so I changed my diet and started eating very healthy. Lots of fruit, veggies, protein, and not a lot of carbs (just the occasional brown rice or whole grain bread). I also switched up my work out routine to some interval training to see if that helped and nothing has changed in fact I've actually gained a pound. I'm 19 years old and weigh 132 lbs (fluctuates between 132-133) and am 5'8". my goal weight is 125. I started out at 138 but have gained back a few which is super frustrating, especially since for a couple weeks I've been counting calories like crazy, I eat between 1,000-1,200 calories a day and with exercise I burn at least 400 calories six days a week. I'm not sure what to do, it could be that I'm eating too few calories but I'm nervous to eat more because I don't want to gain more weight. I drink plenty of water about 3 liters a day

I know some of you will say my weight is fine and not to worry about it but I need to get my weight down for my job and its important that I do because my job is what is paying for my college education.

If anyone has any suggestions or tips it would be greatly appreciated because I'm started to get very frustrated

You're not eating enough calories which is causing your metabolism to slow down.

You also need more carbs. Fiber is important to weight loss and carbs give you the energy to workout.

Also you could be in ketosis which is what happens when you don't eat enough carbs. Its very dangerous and actually hurts your ability to lose weight.

1) Take a free day and pig out to let your body know you're not starving.

2) Then restart eating more calories. Around your BMR for a few days. I usually eat around 50/40/10 (carbs/protein/fat). And try to get more than your RDA for fiber.

3) After that, cycle your calories to confuse your body. Like 1400 one day, 2000 the next.

4) And focus on your metabolism. Add some muscle mass and check your thyroid to see if its functioning properly. Here's a home test:

Quit smoking for a whole month, now NEED to loose weight?

I am about 10kg overweight, but I have quit smoking for over a month now :) Still I'm taking the nicabate mint lozenges.

I need to loose weight now, and I want to do an exercise that doesn't need concentration as I like to listen to music while exercising and dream about rather than running in the outside etc to watch out for cars.

I haven't been eating healthier lately, but doing that too and not eating after 5pm also (but a healthy breakfast and lunch with fruit and veggies inbetween).

Can someone help me with this? Also something that I can do at home would be great as I don't want to join a gym.

WOOHOOO!!!! I QUIT A MONTH AGO TO ! EVEN IF I DONT KNOW YOU CONGRATULATIONS ! i know after you smoke you replace it with eating for every cigarette and doesn't it suck?! now i replace every stress and cig craving with a workout. Joining the gym is POINTLESS ! trust me until your at the weight your satisfied in then dont go. Once you are go to get toned and you say now you dont want a workout that takes alot of concentration but little do you know once you've worked out for a 1 week or 2 you'll wanna push yourself to something different and more that does take concentration like swimming in an indoors pool running WITH HEADPHONES and watching for cars. Plus you need to put the work to look good ;) trust me ! I was sooo over weight and now I push people to workout with me I feel so good now. My opinion though go on youtube.com and search insanity workout day 1 and do all of those its just running but im letting you know now it is going to kick your butt not really concentration just letting you know as the workout routine ends you have to go faster and faster until its time to stop and take a rest good luck god bless and do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best strategy is a combination of calorie reduction and exercise; fairly simple.
The best form of exercise for the purpose of loosing weight is aerobic or "cardio" work; exercise that gets your heart rate elevated into the working zone and maintains it there for the desired period.
    There are lots of choices...
If you don't want to dodge cars outside... Then consider a stationary bike or treadmill. Efficient if boring. You can "dial in" the amount of effort and if you stick with it they can be quite effective.

Also, various forms of "aerobic" exercise... The currently-popular "Zumba" thing is just yet another form of the "heavyhands" exercise program developed by Dr. Schwartz many years ago.
Aerobic exercise with light hand-weights... Done to music.
Richard Simmons isn't bad... I've watched some of his programs and there is nothing there that will hurt you... He may be a little over the top but his exercise physiology is sound.

I need to lose weight. Advice?

I really want to lose a little weight on my legs, they are slightly on the heavier side, my calves and thighs. I'm not fat, but it would feel great to lose just that little bit of extra weight. Can anyone tell me how to go about it? I've tried running on the treadmill, but I find it incredibly boring, and there's no one I can go out for a run with. Also, what should I eat? No crazy food please, I don't want rabbit food.

Best Exercise to Lose Weight For You

Recommanded Answer:
I'm so sorry that you have to read really rude posts by others.

It's great you're so concerned with your health at a young age! Way to go! As for toning up your legs, the best thing I've found is squats, leg lifts, stretching, water exercises that include jumping (stand in the shallow end, put on ankle weights and just keep moving. Also, you could put ankle weights on your ankles while you clean, do chores, or watch TV.

In highschool, I took 35 min for myself before bed. In these 35 min, I had my nightly routine. Brush my teeth, wash my face, then I'll spend 20 min doing random core workouts. And, my night work outs included incorporating the ankle weights any way I could. After the exercises, I would shower and get all the gross of the day off of me. After I showered I made sure to moisturize my skin, and drink at least 2 bottles of water before bed. I'd then make sure everything was ready for the next day, picked up my room, tied my hair loosely on top of my head with a scrunchi (to have extra body in my hair) and went to sleep

After only a week doing this, I saw myself losing inches everywhere! It was great. I never thought it would be that easy. The truth is, the hardest part of working out is starting. The thing to remember, if you've spent time improving your body, you'll see that everything else starts to look better too.

You'll have clear bright skin, healthy hair, you'll function better and probably see a rise in grades, you'll also experience a boost in self esteem. At your age, it's important to have something you do privately to improve yourself and let other people notice on their own. (That's how you'll really know when you e made progress). Don't forget, taking care of your physical body is only half of the requirements for a healthy life.

Good luck!

  • Cut off your leg
  • Just move. Swim, run, jog, swing, horse back ride, join a sport, find activities. Play with some little kids.. jump rope. ...

Don't worry to much abuot the food you're eating. I mean don't eat tons of carbs, and drink tons of soda. Try to make healthy choices when you can, but if you're moving you'll burn calories. If you're not into moving more. Switch to just plain water, no other drinks.
  • cut out the junk food and sodas...or if you can't do that just reduce quantity.
try weightlifting and alternate with different types of exercise. Listen to music or think about something that you need to do for the day when you exercise...
Diet matters the most when you are trying to lose weight! I mean you need to exercise but if you don't eat right (eat frequent smaller meals), then you won't accomplish much. ask that person who answered before saying exercise is the only thing that matters but later said that she gained it back! lol
  • Start jogging plus sit-ups, plus walk at night must
  • Well congrats on spelling lose right. You're already one step ahead of the other gerbil minds who want to lose on here.

Cut out meat , pasta , rice, NO simple carbs. Add grains, oatmeal etc.. Make all your meals vegetable based. I'm not going to go into the "rabbit food" comment. I'll let that slide since you're 14. Thin people do not eat "crazy" they eat healthily.
No sugar besides fruit. Eggs, whey protein. There are TONS of meal suggestions in the vegetarian section thats not "rabbit food" use the search bar ^^.
  • Running really makes your legs look better, after 2 months of running and healthy diet my legs looked way better than before, now they look even nicer. I ran 5 times a week, I started with 30 minutes and raised it to 50-60 minutes within a month. When you stick to it you really see results. Walking is really good for your legs too. If you don't want to run 5 times a week, you can replace 1-2 times with walking, but do it with fast speed and 60-90 minutes each time.

I ate 1000 calories a day, but that's not a lot, I recommend you eat 1200 if you want to count calories. If you don't want to, just try to make healthy choices and eat regularly. Breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. Try not to eat anything with sugar (except sometimes of course) because it can make you crave more sugar or food. You should eat all kinds of vegetables, fruits, berries, oatmeal, low fat yogurts, low fat cottage cheese, wholegrain rice/pasta instead of white, chicken breast/other lean meat/if you're a vegetarian/vegan eat soy protein or tofu, they're extremely healthy (low fat content and lots of protein). 100g of plain soy protein contains 45g of protein! You're 14, so if you don't want to cook for yourself that's fine.

Then Drink 2 liters of water a day. Green tea boosts up your metabolism -> you burn more calories.

    Good luck! :)
  • Do you have any friends at school that might be interested in walking around the track or some area that is interesting? Just try to keep the pace up with legs & arms in sync. For aerobic action. As for food just cut back on foods high in fat or cooked in fat & watch your sugar intake, high fructose corn syrup is in drinks & juices: try to limit intake of these but drink filtered water or water processed by osmosis. Make fruit infusions with water, just cut up fruits you like & add them to water. Green tea & herbal teas are fun. Try to eat more fresh vegetables. I hope this information is helpful to you. Also yoga is a good healthy strengthening exercise which you can do indoors.
  • Lots of sports and activities help to strengthen and tone legs. Some
of these include running, swimming, cycling, blading, ice skating,
skiing, and jumping rope, just to name a few.
Specific resistance exercises can help strengthen and shape specific
muscles in the leg. You may wish to begin by doing exercises that use
your own body weight and require no special equipment. Here are a few:
    Lunge
This exercise works the quadriceps (muscle of the front upper
    thigh).
    (1) Stand with your feet together, keeping your head up and looking
    straight ahead.
    (2) Take a long step forward with one foot, making sure this leg is
at a right angle (don't let your knee bend in front of your toes), and
bend the knee of your back leg until it's as close to the floor as
    possible.
    (3) Hold this position for a second or two and then slowly push back
    to a standing position.
    (4) Repeat with the alternate leg going forward.
    (5) Be sure that your movements are slow and controlled.
    (6) Build up your repetitions over time.
    (7) To increase resistance, you may hold hand weights alongside your
    body.
    Heel raise
This exercise works your calf muscle (official term: gastrocnemius).
(1)Stand with the balls of your feet on a step -- hold onto a wall or
    handrail for balance.
    (2) Slowly rise up on your toes, pause for a second or two, and then
    decline.
    (3) Progress slowly -- don't overdo it at first.
    (4) Increase repetitions as you become stronger.
    Toe raise
This exercise for your shin is particularly useful if you are a
    runner.
(1)Sit on a stool, bench, or chair with feet flat on the floor.
    (2) Raise your toes toward the ceiling while keeping your heels on
    the floor.
    (3) Hold this position for a second or two and then slowly lower your
    toes.
    (4) Increase repetitions as you become stronger.

    Squat
This works the hamstrings, located in the back of your upper thighs.
This exercise is difficult for beginners. It is best to do this in
front of a mirror to check your form.
(1)Position your feet shoulder width apart, with your hands on your
hips or the front of your thighs.
    (2) Slowly lower your body until you're in a "sitting" position. Your
front thighs should be parallel with the floor. You may also feel
muscle contraction in your rear end (you're working these muscles as
    well!).
    (3) Hold this position for a second or two and then slowly stand up
    straight.
    (4) Increase repetitions as you become stronger.
    (5) With increasing strength, you may also wish to add resistance by
using a barbell, held behind your neck, that's resting on your upper
    back.
    Lying side lift
To work the outside muscle of your leg called the abductors:
(1)Lying on your side, slowly lift your top leg as high as you can
while keeping it straight, and then gradually lower it.
    (2) Repeat as many times as comfortable.
    (3) Lie on your opposite side to work the other leg in the same
    manner.
To work the inner thigh muscle (adductor):
(1)Lie on your side, crossing and slightly bending your top leg over
your bottom one. Be sure not to let your hips roll back -- stay
    exactly on your side.
    (2) Slowly lift your bottom leg as high as you can and then lower it
    gradually.
    (3) Do this as many times as possible (without extreme pain).
    (4) Repeat with your other leg.
    (5) Some people like to use ankle weights for these exercises as they
    become stronger.
If you have access to a gym, you may wish to use machines to
accomplish the same exercises. Particularly useful ones are the leg
extension (for quadriceps) and leg curl (for hamstrings). A seated leg
press is also beneficial for quads and gluteal muscles. If you use
weights, don't increase the load too quickly because you may injure
    joints and connective tissue.
One other thing that some people don't realize is that leg exercises
like squats and the stiff leg deadlift, or any other leg exercise for
that matter, will only help build muscle and increase strength in your
legs. Leg exercises DO NOT target any of the fat that is specifically
located on your legs. If there is any fat, muscle will be built
underneath this fat. The ONLY way to lose fat from ANY part of the
body is through either a proper diet, cardio or a combination of both.
I ran ot of space, answering you about exercising. Please, ask about food separately.
  • Since you are so young this will be a good time for you to learn how to keep your weight in check through exercise and physical activity as well as eating the right foods. Please don't let the word exercise make you scared or skeptical. That would be the state of mind of a lazy person. And lazy people who have physical weight issues and more than likely keep having these issues.

my weight is being weird..?

hi guys.. i just need some opinions. i've been healthy dieting for about a week now, and after 3-4 days, i lost 3-5 lbs.. i was pretty content.

however, i gained it all back even though i've been restricting what i'm eating. i'm confused.. i don't think it's water weight.

i also think it may be my scale. every time i wear clothes it adds 5 lbs to my weight! when i take my clothes off, it goes back to the normal weight. I weighed my clothes and they were only 1-2 lbs.

PLEASE HELP! any also, any weight loss suggestions would be appreciated as bonus.. :)

It's better to weigh yourself on a scale in dr. office or a drug store. A good plan would be:

Breakfast: low fat milk on cooked 9-grain cereal (from health food store), mixed with cooked oatmeal and wheat bran. Add some nuts and berries. Drink hot Ovaltine.

Lunch: Egg, tuna or turkey sandwich on whole grain bread with bean or alfalfa sprouts and yogurt w/fruit. If you had meat loaf for dinner, bring a meat loaf sandwich (NO mayo). On cold days, a squatty thermos of hot chili, split peas with ham or beef stew.

Snacks: Fresh (not canned) fruit: banana, orange, apple, kiwi, grapes, peach, nectarine, cherries, pineapple. No chips and nothing ever from a vending machine.

Dinner: salad with white meat chicken and fresh (not canned) veggies: tomatoes, 2 kinds of lettuce, 2 kinds of shredded cabbage, shredded or sliced carrots, alfalfa or bean sprouts, zucchini, hard boiled eggs, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, tofu, cottage cheese...Instead of dressing, squeeze 1/4 tomato over it.

Or homemade bean/vegetable soups; great way to recycle leftovers.

Or omelet: In blender, whip together eggs, tofu, cottage cheese, onions, garlic powder. Cook with mushrooms, chopped tomatoes.

Foods to avoid: junk food, pastries, desserts, sugar, salty foods, syrup (even canned fruit in syrup), peanut butter, fatty/greasy foods (pork, wieners, chops, bacon, salami, pizza), pasta, potatoes, white bread, rice, canned veggies, ice cream, fast food, soda, chips. And of course no tobacco or alcohol in any form. Both of those add wrinkles and destroy your brain. No oil except olive and mac nut. Coffee also rots your brain.

To keep your skin clear, drink water. Veg. juice is good too. But not canned juice (too much sugar.)

Join a gym; they have all the equipment and staff to show you how to use it to get the look you want to achieve. Much cheaper than buying your own equipment. Also hiking, biking, jogging, bowling, swimming, badminton, tennis...

If you lack energy to exercise, take stress B vitamins.
To lose weight, try an appetite suppressant

I want to loose weight.?

I'm 15. I'm 5'5 and I forgot my weight. I don't own a scale but the last time I was at the hostpital, the doctor told me I was above my BMI. I think I weigh about 160-165. My stomach is very big, my waist line is fat, my chest and back is fat and my face is fat.

I really want to loose weight. I can't go to a gym and I'm too broke to afford a trainer. I tried loosing weight twice before and I cant seem to stay motivated. The longest I went with dieting and working out was about 4-6 days and I saw that I lost a TINY bit of weight.

Bottom line is that I know that I can loose weight fast, I just have no motivation and I have no where to start and no one to help me. I just need advice and motivation..

Can someone help me with what my meals should be like? my workout routine? and how long it should take for me to loose atleast 5 pounds or more?

Fastest Way to Lose Weight

I was like you i was 20 years old 5'4167 lb male i know I'm short as fuck
But after many failed attempts i finally stuck to it and 4 months later of clean eating with occasional cheat days I'm 137 lbs my motivation was if i continued doing nothing and being inactive I'd just keep getting fatter and fatter

  • You can start by doing something like 1 hour of Basketball or go to the nearest park with running tracks and go for like an hour a day.
You can also do programs like insanity, 1 hour of zumba on game counsels , or 1 hour of just dance on game counsels
you can also try to eat less each day and healthy food choices
  • For dieting,I would say get yourself a chart sorted out of the different food groups so that you have a healthy amount of each, lower portion sizes, eat slower too...it sounds silly but eating slower allows your brain to recognise what you are eating and therefore can process the food correctly instead of storing it as fat. Drinking lots of water before meals helps too, water is very filling and therefore you physically have to cut down your portions. For exercise I would suggest doing thirty minutes at least every day. Go for a jog, walk the dog,get on your bike or something. Get yourself out,if your not at home you won't be tempted to give up and have some chocolate or something. I know a great app (which has helped me) where you record all your exercise and food consumed for a particular day and it saves it as a diary, this is helpful in order for you to get a routine sorted. Also,if you find yourself snacking, punish yourself with exercise...try looking at people who you would like to look like, jealousy is a great motive! ;)

How many calories would be safe for me?

I'm anorexic and gained a lot of weight because of upping my calories(not on purpose). I don't know why but only when I started upping my calories I began to have bad chest pains, shortness of breath( I mean was going up and down with my calories and upping my exercise). I want to lose weight but I don't know how many calories would be safe for me to START losing weight. I'm eventually going to start eating right but only when i lose the weight. How many calories would be a good start

Tips on How to Lose Weight Fast for the New Year

Recommanded Answer:
The exact number depends on your activity amount. Somewhere in the range of 1200 to 2000 for most people. I go for around 1500 but really don't pay much attention to number of calories. I pay more attention to how much total carbohydrates, how much oil, how much sugar, and protein. I used to measure but now just eyeball the quantities. I pinch my belly fat and if its over 1/2 inch, I cut back a little on portion sizes. It seems to me the easiest and therefore the best approach to weight loss is accepting that a very gradual loss is the best strategy. A person harms their body and their emotional strength if they try to achieve too quickly.

I eat a lot of high fiber, low calories density food (meaning fruits and vegetables). They give you a feeling of fullness and decrease hunger and food cravings. Plus they are nutritious and health promoting.

is this dinner healthy for weight loss?

i've been trying to stick to a pretty regular diet but i was wondering if the salad i eat usually every day is doing the trick. it's a pretty large bowl of mesculun lettuce (probably a good three handfuls) with sliced onions, peppers, only a few bleu cheese crumbles, tomato chunks, and oil and balsamic vinegar for dressing.

4 Simple Tips On How To Lose Weight

It's not bad, but where's your protein? Protein is very important for people trying to lose weight because it helps feed your muscles and makes you feel fuller. Add a 4 ounce chicken breast (baked or poached) and maybe another vegetable that you like and it will be the perfect dinner. Good luck!

What should I eat in order to lose weight? (17 yr female)?

I'm 5 foot 3 and I weigh around 105 pounds (BMI of 18.6) but I'm not happy with my body and I want to lose excess fat.

Would you be able to give me a rough idea of how many calories I should consume each day if I want to lose a significant amount of weight in 3 weeks?

My daily exercises:

30 mins of walking.
45 mins of dancing (rather energetic)
30 squats
30 lunges
As many bicycle sit-ups as I can manage.

Given my daily exercises, how many calories should I look to be consuming in order to noticeably lose weight (several pounds) and tone up?

Thank you.

Six Simple Ways For You To Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
there are no magic pills or drinks, unfortunately.
When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It's not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

  • 30lbs a month 1 pound a day it's as simple as that plus diet so it should not be that hard depending on how athletic you are.
  • It will be tough, I would suggest hiring a personal trainer to keep you on track and doing the right exercises to make sure you are utilising your time.

I use a website called Fit Network for all my knowledge, it has loads of videos about health and fitness

    http://www.fitnetwork.co.uk
  • The only way is if you change your eating habits gradually, or else it will fail. Start adding more vegies, fruits, nuts and proteins & lots of water. If you do that you will be to full to eat other foods (eliminating junk)

Change your diet mentality into a lifestyle change. Don't think about the future but take it as each day comes.

I was at a stand still like you, i did gym everyday and did it hard out. I recently got a trainer and now its all about weight training combining with cardio, the main thing is what you eat! 70% eating and 30% exercise. Master both and you will be shredding fat!

I know you want to lose weight fast probably for an event or whatever, but honestly the faster you get on track and eat healthy and exercise then you will start seeing results gradually, its proven that diets that make you lose weight fast, in the long term the weight is put make on plus more! do it the healthy way, you could research it as well.
  • you will have to burn off 3500 calories per day more than you eat..so basically if you can stick to about 1400 calories a day and run 35 miles a day, you ha e got it made. your expectations are way too high.

Best Exercise to Lose Weight For You

Recommanded Answer:
Losing 10 lbs a month is a good and safe target. Any faster weight loss is likely to be temporary only and in most cases you regain it all.

Running, jogging, cycling, swimming, dancing, push ups, sit ups, squats, brisk walking and power walking all help for weight loss but dieting helps more.

One of the healthiest weight loss diets is the DASH diet.

The healthy DASH diet can help you lose weight safely and effectively, lower your cholesterol and lower your blood pressure.

It is based on an eating plan rich in fruits and vegetables, and low-fat or non-fat dairy, with whole grains. It is a high fiber, low to moderate fat diet, and is rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

You can see further details in a web search for "dash diet" + "lose weight".

  • There is no way to lose weight FAST that isn't possibly dangerous. Really the best thing you can do is eat right and workout. I'm in my second year of college and I know exactly what you're going through. I don't drink, and I STILL gained the "freshman 15" and even more my first year. Campus food is, for the most part, not very healthy for you. I would stick to eating healthy. What I try to do is eat a salad at least 4 times a week, maybe more, and instead of getting burgers I get turkey or veggi burgers. Cut out things like cheese as much as possible, because it's basically entirely fat which you don't need. If you really get a craving for something salty, try getting just plain potato chips instead of all the funky flavors. Try not to drink juice or soda as often, or if you do get low cal or diet drinks. If you are someone that LOVES snacks, bring snacks from home that you know are better for you, rather than getting the unhealthy things served at school. Also, eat lots of veggis and fruit, and east less pasta and other carbs.
I try to go to the gym at least 4 times a week, and I try to eat as best as I can (I know, it's hard.)
But do this and you should not only lose weight but also feel really good about yourself!
  • Dear Gabi,

You can surely lose your weight in 8 months only. A healthy diet helps you to lose your weight and stay healthy but one of the biggest challenges to eating healthier is finding substitutions for existing foods in your diet. Here are some tips to make the transition easier:

1.Use mustard instead of mayo on your sandwiches. You’ll get lots of flavor with much fewer calories and fat.

2.Select whole wheat bread over white bread. Be sure to read the label to ensure you’re getting whole grains, not just colored white bread.

3.Eat the white meat like chicken, which is lower in fat than dark meat, red meat. Animal fat is the number one dietary source of unhealthy saturated fat.

    4. Start using fish instead of high-fat cuts of meat.

5.If you cook, then change your cooking methods. Bake, grill or boil your meals instead of frying. Use non-stick sprays—or better yet, non-stick pans—instead of oil.

6.Drink more water. Slowly reduce the amount of soda you drink and replace it with herbal tea like green tea or water. Aim for eight cups of pure water each day.

7.Don't drink your calories. Eat a whole orange instead of drinking a glass of juice, for example. Real food is usually more filling and more nutritious than juices, fruit drinks, and other high-calorie beverages.

8.Gradually switch to skim milk. Milk commonly comes in four varieties: whole (4% fat), 2%, 1% and skim (0% fat). Gradually wean yourself from the higher-fat varieties to the lower fat milk every two weeks. For example: continue drinking your normal 2% milk for two weeks, then move to 1% for two weeks, and then your palate will be ready for the consistency of skim milk.

9.Switch from full-fat cheeses to reduced-fat or fat-free cheeses the same way you would with milk (see tip above).

10.Order vegetables on the side instead of fries. Flavor them with lemon juice or herbs instead of butter.

11.Snack on fruit and nuts instead of sugary treats. The fiber, protein and healthy fats in this combo will sustain you to your next meal and you won’t have the energy slump that comes after eating candy.

12.Reduce your portion size. Most people will eat whatever amount of food is in front of them, so start putting your meals on smaller plates. You will be just as satisfied because your mind "sees" that you’re eating a full plate of food.

You need to do the following also:

1.First calculate and then limit your calorie intake commensurate with your BMI. Don't stop eating food, all what you need to do is to just cut down your meals into six and eat healthy food.
2.Cut down your oil & fats intake.
    3.Cut down refined sugar intake.
    4.Avoid soda's like soft drinks.
5.Go for a brisk walk everyday for atleast one hour/ Yoga/ Jumping rope/ Dance/ Aerobics.
6.Drink hot water before your meals also take it in the morning with added honey & lemon juice, it may dissolve your fats inside.
7.Drink Green tea , as it is good for health and may help you to lose your weight also.
    8.Avoid junk.
9.Most of all, proper sleep of 6-8 hours is must.

Remember --- Never starve yourself !!!
When you fast, your body slows down your metabolism in order to conserve energy and survive the perceived famine. When you do go back to eating, your body wants to store up for the next starvation period, meaning that you are likely to gain weight even if you consume fewer calories.

Cutting calories can help you shed pounds, not eating altogether or fasting for weight loss is an extremely dangerous technique. Not only can it do damage to your body, but it can lead to serious problems, such as eating disorders. If you truly want to lose weight, eating a healthy diet and exercising daily is a better idea than starving yourself to become thinner.

Instead of skipping meals and depriving your body, eat foods that are low in calories, yet rich in nutrients, such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. These will help your body function while providing the calories your body needs.

    Eat healthy & Stay fit!!!
  • You need a good fitness workout program. I suggest you insanity. and you have 8 months, it is enough time for you to lose weight.

@applebutter

I don't weigh myself because the number on the scale is not important (muscle weighs more than fat). I am making a lifestyle change not going on a diet of any kind. I do find ellipticals fun. I was seeing a personal trainer before I started exercising on my own. I am a girl. I have always eaten healthy (dad is a bodybuilder) so I have grown to enjoy healthy foods. I also know about water weight and how your weight can change throughout the day. I do know good form because of my trainer.

4 Simple Tips On How To Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
You don't want to go that route. I know it sounds good to your mind, but your body and brain will have more to say on the matter than your mind will and it's even more important because you are still developing hormonally and will be for the next two years, going to the extreme like this will mess up that developement ( becoming a man or woman) you don't wanna mess that up! The key to long term success is keeping your exercise enjoyable. You don't want to go over an hour a day tops! It's counter-productive otherwise, it's just how your body and brain work, don't make me get all scientific on you ha! Think more long term, you are going to want to look and feel your best for the rest of your life, so it's important that you start right from the beginning. And you have to give your body and brain at least 6-8 weeks to break in to this new routine, they canjust flip the switch like your mind does.
The Most Important Thing You Must Understand is you need to keep your program ENJOYABLE! If your brain or body find it too painful, no matter how strongly your mind is committed to working the program, eventually, (usually less than 6 weeks) your brain will make you quit! It won't tolerate pain.At the same time it's so very important that you allow your body and brain time to adjust to your new training. From tendons being stretched to complicated metabolic issues, to learning proper form, pace and routines your brain and body need at least 6 weeks to line up to really get things going.
Don't give much credit to the scale when first starting, it's normal to retain more fluids, it's your body's way of being ready for the next workout. Don't micro-manage your calories either. Sensible wholesome meals, the quality of the calories is more important than the quantity. Your diet should be ENJOYABLE too, and something you can develop and maintain as a habit.
Workout at your own pace, which in the beginning should be slower, focus more on how you move ( your form) as it's important to how your body will shape up and that you don't get injured. Just about any exercise is good and will work, walking, jogging, running, cycling but my favorite and number one choice for losing or gaining weight is weightlifting aka bodybuilding. If your a girl, don't worry that you'll get manly muscles, the average steriod-free female builds only a small amount of muscle each year. But that muscle is awesome! Because not only does it burn calories while your working and using them, and while they are repairing and replenishing themselves, but 24/ 7 they consume calories just to stay alive! Just try not to miss a single day of working out for the first 6 months without a real good reason, otherwise slacking off can become the habit. Other than taking your two scheduled days off per week. Rest is important, so get to bed at a decent time as well. Make sure you drink plenty of water everyday. Learn to drink water warm, so you can have it anytime/anywhere. Other than keeping it sensible and enjoyable, remember all the benefits you'll get from exercising and a decent diet. You'll sleep better, have better energy, breathing, moods, concentration, endurance, strength, self-confidence, and so much more. It's really the closest thing to magical powers each human has, so don't miss out! 45-60 minutes a day, 5 days a week is ideal, but by all means start with less if need be, again keeping it enjoyable is everything! Just start easy, give your body time to start providing you additional energy, keep learning more as you go, and before you know it, you'll have the body you've always wanted, with the loads of extra benefits I pointed out.

  • Yes, but make sure you eat about 1500 calories a day, otherwise you won't eat enough, therefore you won't lose as much weight. I'm 15 and trying to lose weight by August, and so far, that is working for me:-)

Will I lose weight drinking only ensure?

If I eat nothing and only drink ensure and exercise, will I lose weight?

Perfect Ways To Lose Weight

You need to realize your brain and body are very sophisicated and won't do well on just one food, infact they will do quite badly. But the answer to losing weight is actually quite simple-
The Most Important Thing You Must Understand is you need to keep your program ENJOYABLE! If your brain or body find it too painful, no matter how strongly your mind is committed to working the program, eventually, (usually less than 6 weeks) your brain will make you quit! It's really the closest thing to magical powers each human has, so don't miss out! 45-60 minutes a day, 5 days a week is ideal, but by all means start with less if need be, again keeping it enjoyable is everything! One other piece of advice in this, and that's don't do situps! They don't work the muscle properly so growth is very doubtful, and they risk lower back and hernia injuries. If you must, which most ppl don't, do crunches. Most ppl don't need to worry about their abs, they are small muscles that do alot of work already, every time you move your upper body they work, as well as working during many of your other movements, so if your working your body they are getting theirs. The diet industry has hyped up abs so much, because they know most ppl will fail, because they are too painful and produce little to no results, which they hope will lead people to buying their junk products ( it's working, they've been doing it a long time) seeing your abs is a matter of having a low body fat percentage, even as a competitive Steroid-free Bodybuilder, I only do crunches starting a few weeks before a show, so I can flex my abs over and over with ease and to give them a little more definition, other than that, they're already built from my many years of training the rest of my body and the low body fat percentage I obtain for doing shows, is only for the show, I wouldn't consider it healthy to keep year round, and it would defiantly hinder any further muscle development. Remember the only thing your belly fat and abs have in common is location, other than that, they have nothing to do with one another, so don't burn yourself out working your abs, when it's your whole body that needs the workout and will produce the results you want.

Just start easy, give your body time to start providing you additional energy, keep learning more as you go, and before you know it, you'll have the body you've always wanted, with the loads of extra benefits I pointed out.

  • Not a good idea you can pass out from not eating
  • You'll lose all muscle and then you'll gain twice as much when you start eating again. Even if it's a little bit of food
