Why did I get heavier/fatter (best answer 20 pts)?

I'm 5ft and I'm 56kg. (127 lbs) I'm on a diet and I'm trying to lose 5 kg in like, 3 months.I started eating really healthy, but if I had to have noodles, I would have half portion. I ate a lot of fruits, often snacks but really healthy snacks like Hawaiian Yam. I'm going on walks almost everyday after dinner. I'm drinking lots of water (in fact, i'm drinking one right now!).So today, I ate:Scrambled Eggs with Green OnionA Peach2 slices of MangoKiwiHalf of a YamHalf bowl of Kong Gook Su (Korean cold bean noodles)A YamAn AppleA boiled eggAnd that's pretty much what I ate today. I'm going to have dinner soon. Before using the restroom, I checked my weight. It read 57.1 KG!!! I freaked! All of this hardwork was nothing. My results were worse! I looked in the mirror, and found my arms sticking on because of the fat under my armpits. My stomach was bigger(not gas), and my face was bigger also. I used the restroom and checked again. It was 57.0KG. I was so...shocked!Can you tell me why, and give me some tips for a good diet? How can I lose 5KG in 2-3 Months? or even better, one month or 3 weeks? The 2nd word in Konggooksu (g...) got censored...um...well...i didn't mean it as a curse :/

How to Fast and Lose Weight Safely

Recommended Answer:

Your eating is not good...where's the protein??? There's a lot of carbs and other than a little egg, no protien and no green leafy veggies...and plenty of water (which you say you are drinking, so that's good)...The ideal diet is not fruit, noodles, and eggs...you need lean protein, veggies, healthy fats, and complex carbs also...calories around 1300 - 1500 a day....Exercise...some cardio to burn some fat, and lots of exercise with weights or resistance bands to build muscle and speed your metabolism...shoot for around an hour a day of exercise, at least 5 days a week...A couple of tips...weigh no more than 1x a day, and do it when you first wake up, after you pee, while naked...understand that your weight may fluctuate as much as 5 lbs from day to day, due to water weight gain/loss so don't trip out over a gain or not seeing a loss if you know you are eating right and being active...You can lose up to 3 lbs/wk in a healthy manner if you eat clean and exercise...just have patience and understand when you consume too few calories (which it appears you are doing) your metabolism slows, your body uses muscle tissue for fuel, and fat loss is very slow (if at all) but you may see a change in the scales...also, expect your weight to be higher near your period, when you are retaining fluid...

  • I see your problem. You are eating too many fruits. Fruit is good for you, but they produce their own sugar. And you are not eating enough. Eat more veggies, drink more water, eat fruit but in moderation, and you need protein.
  • You are always skinnier in the morning right when you wake up, so no matter how little you eat during the day you will be heavier in the afternoon. You also should weigh yourself at the same time once a day to make it more accurate.
  • Girl you can do it, have vegetables and protien. Maybe do some exersize at home. You need to burn calories. Mornings have oatmeal and hard boiled eggs, snack with carrots or fruit. You can also make a shake from apples, carrots, grapes, orange, and water with ice. Dont starve yourself. Im 5ft. And weigh 157lbs and trying to lose this baby weight. I need to lose 20lbs at least. In one month you can do, if you are determined!
  • It's pointless to weigh yourself later in the day, after you've been drinking fluids and eating. You've got stuff in your guts weighing you down that hasn't been processed yet. You brag of drinking water, well do you realize 1 pint of water weights 1 pound? You drink a tall glass of water, you just gained a pound. But that's meaningless fluid weight.Weigh consistently 1st thing in the morning, or not at all. Your weight could easily vary by 3 or 4 pounds throughout the day in fluid and food mass, but that's meaningless.

Is applesauce not healthy for you?

I know it might sound dumb because I could just read the label or whatever, but I mean if you're trying to lose weight is it something you can eat that's healthy? Or is it just a 'in between' meaning it's sort of good for you, but not really?

If you get the unsweetened applesauce all it is is apples cooked and processed to remove skin and seeds. It would be healthier for you to eat a whole apple as there is fiber and vitamins in the skin. But if eating an apple is not an option and having a serving of applesauce is the only option then it is fine.Notice I said a serving. Pay close attention to what they are calling a serving. It is probably 1/2 cup so don't go eating a bottle of the stuff thinking it is healthy.

Trying to tone my stomach?

I have minimal belly fat, meaning i'm quite skinny but there's still fat there because I haven't been working out like i should. I just got a treadmill. Can just running on the treadmill daily and burning between 250-500 calories + doing a mixture of crunches at night, drinking 8 8 oz glasses of water, and slowing down on junk food tone my stomach? I don't want a 6 pack or anything, I just want to be rid of the jiggle!

How to Eat Food in Combination to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:

•Do aerobic exercises daily. Cardio exercises will heat up your core temperature and improve circulation, both of which will aid in acquiring a flat stomach. Strive for at least 30 minutes a day minimum, but include one to two days of rest each week.•Eat healthier and cut down on junk food. Replace sweets and chips with fruits and vegetables.•Eat lots of lean protein. Beans, nuts, and lean meat are rather good for you as long as you do not eat the fat!•Drink water. You should replace all your regular beverages with water, especially soda and sugared drinks. Water will make it easier to lose weight. Consider flavored water as an alternative if you must.

The term "cardio" has come to replace the (IMO) better term... Aerobic. As the other fellow says, you can do aerobic exercise daily, if you you keep it in the lower levels of work.
If your heart rate is maintained in the "training zone", 65-75% of your maximum heart rate, then you can do a workout daily, even alongside your weight training.
If you push it harder, so that you''re getting up through the 85-90% range, then that''s a pretty hard effort and more recovery is needed.
As to what to do... Doesn''t matter much as long as it pushes your heart rate to the desired level and keeps it there. That''s the important thing... A continuous level of effort.
Running, cycling, treadmill, stationary bike,...whatever.

  • You can do light cardio everyday, running, punching bag, walk, anything that makes you sweet is good

How can a 16 year old lose belly fat before summer?

I''ve been trying to lose belly fat by eating healthy and exercising. But besides my belly fat, I think my stomach might often be bloated, but I can''t tell. When ever I eat something little, I think I get bloated real easy but I don''t know why and I hate it. I weigh about 124 and I''m 5''6. I don''t have much belly fat, but it sticks out farther then my chest, and I don''t like that. Is there anything I can do?

NOTHING seems to work in helping me lose weight...I''m so discouraged, and hungry. What do I do?

I''ve tried SO MANY different things to lose weight. All kinds of diet plans, workout plans, cardio exercises, interval training, strength training, bikram yoga...everything. Nothing seems to work.

I''ve done all my homework on weight loss. I know about the whole BMR, calories in vs calories mechanism, everything. I give all my friends advice for weight loss because they know I''m so knowledgeable about it by now. I''ve been trying hard to lose weight since October and nothing has worked.

It breaks my heart. I''ve never been this way, I feel like it''s not me. I''m not overweight, but hardly. I''m 17 years old, 5''3'' tall and I''m just over 57kg or 126lbs. I gained almost 9 kilos (20lbs) over a six-month period despite trying hard to lose weight (eating at a caloric deficit and exercising). In fact, it''s odd because I gave myself a break recently, and my weight has stabilized.

I''m not gaining anymore but I just can''t lose weight. I''ve NEVER been like this. My entire life, I always ate as I pleased and was always quite thin. My maximum weight before this, ever, was 52kg (115lbs), and that was when I went to Hawaii for winter break and spent two weeks stuffing my face with high-calorie foods and laying in the sun all day.

I''m so discouraged. I don''t know what to do anymore. All of my friends lose weight so effortlessly, and I''ve been working my butt off and depriving myself of food (god I love food) and it hasn''t helped at all. It''s been four days now since I''ve gotten so upset, I''ve been starving myself. I haven''t eaten a single solid food this whole time. All I have is water and occasionally soup. I can''t even stand to look at myself in the mirror, or be seen in all my short shorts and dresses that I always loved to wear before. I can''t stand getting my picture taken.

This has made me depressed, and I hate it. And I feel like it''s getting worse everyday.

What do I do? :(
Thanks for your answers. And, there''s a couple of things I know aren''t the problem.

1) Thyroid and hormonal imbalances. I got checked for those, and everything''s normal.
2) Eating too little - Until now at least, I was not by any means eating little enough to put my body into starvation mode. I never ate below 1300 or 1400 calories in any day.
3) Things like polycystic ovarian syndrome or diabetes/high blood sugar...I got checked for those too.

sounds more emotional issue here than weight. The more you ''feel'' you are overweight the more it sticks. Quite frankly you aren''t really overweight..you dont'' like the way you look perhaps and maybe you could be more ''fit''. Time to start liking yourself again and stop beating yourself up. Hormones and even your thyroid could be some of the issue here...so maybe a basic blood test at your doctors. In the meantime - I''d concentrate on eating healthy...and getting ''fit''. Muscle is much more sexy than being flabby...which I''m sure you are not...but still - having curves from muscle is attractive while still having a little meat on your bones. Time to adjust to where you are at the moment instead of complaining about it all the time. Try and retrain your thinking process to ''i want to be and look healthy'' instead of worrying so much about the weight. How about just focusing on some general things in your life that you enjoy or like instead of what you don''t? Also too little calorie intake can cause the body to go into starvation mode, and will try to hold on to weight...so again, trying healthier foods while still eating enough will help in long run.

  • You can not change your body type.
Superman will never be as thin as Spider-Man no matter how he diets, and Spidey can never bulk up to Superman''s level.

But you can be the best of your body type.

When you say you are hungry, you have to understand there are two types of hunger.
People fail by using the wrong method to sate their hunger.

Are you hungry for anything...or hungry for ONE specific item?

If you just need to eat something: eat a salad...LOTSA salad.
    It will fill you up

but if you are dying for a chocolate bar....eat a salad
    FOLLOWED by a fun-sized bar.

Chocolate will be the last thing you taste,,,,and you''re full

Hope this helped...wish I could have cut and pasted it (this was a lot of typing)
  • You won''t want to agree with me, but you are eating too much milk, cheese and meat. Non-fat milk and grilled chicken are things that people think are healthy but are super unhealthy.

You must eats loads of fresh fruits and veggies, and get lots of sleep, and excercise first thing in the morning.

Nothing is wrong with your body, your diet just has too much meat, milke and cheese, and not enough fresh fruits and vegetables.

Am I anorexic? This is a serious question?

Hi, we''ll I''m really concerned about this question, and I''m wondering if I might be anorexic?
Back when I was a kid, I was chubby, but didnt really notice or care. It was until freshman year in high school when I started to notice that guys my age were a lot skinnier. So I decided to go on a diet, and I restricted my caloric intake to 1200 per day. I started to loose weight slowly. But I felt it wasn''t fast enough and so I started eating 1,000 calories per day. I progressed for the worse. I started walking a little over two hours everyday to burn calories, and started skipping meals. I was eating 800 calories a day now.I was horrified to eat food. I was aware of all the calories in every food. Everyone was flooding me with compliments, and I finally reached my goal weight within two months. I went from 155 lbs to 120 lbs. But this wasn''t skinny enough for me now.
Summer break came, and I decided to get a "fit" body before school started again. I constantly starved myself, but would constantly binge out of hunger and felt horrible when I did. I felt fat. Everyone told me I wasn''t. Arguments with my mother about food became common. I didnt care.
School started Annd I was still 120lbs. Everyone was amazed at how I lost so much weight over the summer as well, and how tall I had gotten it. I had gotten taller, but stayed at the same weight. I was happy of the compliments, but felt fat.
Now, a year after I initially lost weight, I feel obese. I have started cutting meals again. I look at all the skinny people and feel fat. I''ve started to work out now, and went on an extreme diet. My friends have show concern about my eating habits, but I don''t care. I just want to be skinny. I am on a 1,000 calorie diet, at least 30 minutes of exercise per day, and have successfully lost 4lbs in a little over a week and a half. My goal weight is 105lbs, and I am 5''6. I feel fat, I don''t know what to do,.I want to be skinny. I feel fat.But BMI''s say I''m healthy weight. Am I anorexic?

Why You Must Exercise to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
Not exactly but you shouldnt be starving yourself if you didnt know this but when you skip meals or start starving yourself you Gain More Weight because your body is starving and needs food. And plus you shouldnt care about what other people look like and dont compare yourself to other people BE Happy with yourself :) Right now im losing weight but im just watching my calories like you too but dont skip any meals and defintiely dont Starve yourself!! Anorexia can make you very very sick. And the problem seems to be mostly that you have a low self esteem and its hard espically when your in high school becasue you see guys or girls and wanna look good to but thats why you should just take one day at a time :) Hope this helped and i hope you get better :)

  • You might be, ask a doctor.
  • it seems like you have a problem. http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ you are very underweight you need to gain about 30 pounds. if you feel sick its probably because your underweight. you need therapy for your self esteem or it will take you to very bad places
  • I dont think you are anorexic but i think you may have a different type of ed. You should talk to someone like a trusted adult, guidance coucilor or dr. what you are doing is not healthy, and its slowing your metaolism down. you may be losing weight now, but you will start gaining since you messed up your metabolism. 1000 calories isnt cutting back too much because i only eat 400 calories a day, but still you need to talk to someone.

How can I lose weight quickly?

I think my main problem is that I can get full after only eating a few bites. When someone makes food and I only ask for a little or dont eat all my food they always ask "what, are you on a diet?" so I always eat more. I'm too young to go to a gym, and I don't have a bike or anything. Also, when my mom goes grocery shopping, she buys food that we can make on our own, like frozen pizzas, stuff like that. I would really like to lose about 20-25 pounds. How long will this take? Are there any exercises I could do around my house?

How Can I Lose Weight in a Healthy Way?

Recommended Answer:
Losing 10 lbs a month is a good and safe target. Any faster weight loss is likely to be temporary only and in most cases you regain it all.

Running, jogging, cycling, swimming, dancing, push ups, sit ups, squats, brisk walking and power walking all help for weight loss but dieting helps more.

One of the healthiest weight loss diets is the DASH diet.

The healthy DASH diet can help you lose weight safely and effectively, lower your cholesterol and lower your blood pressure.

It is based on an eating plan rich in fruits and vegetables, and low-fat or non-fat dairy, with whole grains. It is a high fiber, low to moderate fat diet, and is rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

You can see further details in a web search for "dash diet for weight loss".

  • Well, your age is relevant here. If you're too young for a gym and too young to learn to cook, you're too young for us to give diet advice to. Talk to your parents.
  • i wish i knew how to help you but im going through the same.... looking for answers... if i find out anything ill let you know
  • Since your young as long as your active then exercise is not an problem. You need to watch what your eating, DO NOT EAT FAST FOOD, fast food is empty calories and will only hurt you in the end. If your serious about it then ask your mom to make you more meals with much more vegetables in it. It may not taste good but will help your body and your weight loss. Also eat more chicken, not fried or kfc but lean white skinless chicken breast and lean beef. This will help your muscles grow and recover faster. Don't drink soda at all, limit the amount of juices you drink also. You should be pretty much be only drinking water, your body needs a lot of it. Don't serve yourself big portions, eat until your not hungry, don't eat to get full. This should be all you need to lose weight at a young age. Don't forget to exercise everyday, like sports or walking, biking, something active. Goodluck, the weight can take more than two months depending on how much your excersizing and how healthy you eat
  • I think you should check out http://goo.gl/3uIy3 for an amazing toning and weight loss technique
  • Fatty foods are actually more addicting than people would think. Ever notice how it's hard to just eat one chip or m&m? Your body adapts to the simple sugars and it becomes easy to digest those. Your body is very smart and has the ability to adapt very well to different situations. But when we put our body in bad situations constantly and supply fatty foods our body will actually have a harder time digesting fruits and vegetables. Ever get cravings? That's your body telling you that you need something, like a vitamin. But with an extended time without fruits and vegetable your body will no longer crave for that and recognize it as vital, however your body still needs this in the long run. Its important to build habits. It also goes the other way. It gets easier to eat healthy the more you do it. Your body will crave those healthy foods. I started making smoothies. They're delicious and satisfied my munchies and also were very healthy. Now I always crave smoothies. I lost 60 lbs!

Drink a glass of water before each meal. That will help fill you up a little so you don't eat too much.
