I''ve done all my homework on weight loss. I know about the whole BMR, calories in vs calories mechanism, everything. I give all my friends advice for weight loss because they know I''m so knowledgeable about it by now. I''ve been trying hard to lose weight since October and nothing has worked.
It breaks my heart. I''ve never been this way, I feel like it''s not me. I''m not overweight, but hardly. I''m 17 years old, 5''3'' tall and I''m just over 57kg or 126lbs. I gained almost 9 kilos (20lbs) over a six-month period despite trying hard to lose weight (eating at a caloric deficit and exercising). In fact, it''s odd because I gave myself a break recently, and my weight has stabilized.
I''m not gaining anymore but I just can''t lose weight. I''ve NEVER been like this. My entire life, I always ate as I pleased and was always quite thin. My maximum weight before this, ever, was 52kg (115lbs), and that was when I went to Hawaii for winter break and spent two weeks stuffing my face with high-calorie foods and laying in the sun all day.
I''m so discouraged. I don''t know what to do anymore. All of my friends lose weight so effortlessly, and I''ve been working my butt off and depriving myself of food (god I love food) and it hasn''t helped at all. It''s been four days now since I''ve gotten so upset, I''ve been starving myself. I haven''t eaten a single solid food this whole time. All I have is water and occasionally soup. I can''t even stand to look at myself in the mirror, or be seen in all my short shorts and dresses that I always loved to wear before. I can''t stand getting my picture taken.
This has made me depressed, and I hate it. And I feel like it''s getting worse everyday.
What do I do? :(
Thanks for your answers. And, there''s a couple of things I know aren''t the problem.
1) Thyroid and hormonal imbalances. I got checked for those, and everything''s normal.
2) Eating too little - Until now at least, I was not by any means eating little enough to put my body into starvation mode. I never ate below 1300 or 1400 calories in any day.
3) Things like polycystic ovarian syndrome or diabetes/high blood sugar...I got checked for those too.

sounds more emotional issue here than weight. The more you ''feel'' you are overweight the more it sticks. Quite frankly you aren''t really overweight..you dont'' like the way you look perhaps and maybe you could be more ''fit''. Time to start liking yourself again and stop beating yourself up. Hormones and even your thyroid could be some of the issue here...so maybe a basic blood test at your doctors. In the meantime - I''d concentrate on eating healthy...and getting ''fit''. Muscle is much more sexy than being flabby...which I''m sure you are not...but still - having curves from muscle is attractive while still having a little meat on your bones. Time to adjust to where you are at the moment instead of complaining about it all the time. Try and retrain your thinking process to ''i want to be and look healthy'' instead of worrying so much about the weight. How about just focusing on some general things in your life that you enjoy or like instead of what you don''t? Also too little calorie intake can cause the body to go into starvation mode, and will try to hold on to weight...so again, trying healthier foods while still eating enough will help in long run.
- You can not change your body type.
Superman will never be as thin as Spider-Man no matter how he diets, and Spidey can never bulk up to Superman''s level.
But you can be the best of your body type.
When you say you are hungry, you have to understand there are two types of hunger.
People fail by using the wrong method to sate their hunger.
Are you hungry for anything...or hungry for ONE specific item?
If you just need to eat something: eat a salad...LOTSA salad.
It will fill you up
but if you are dying for a chocolate bar....eat a salad
FOLLOWED by a fun-sized bar.
Chocolate will be the last thing you taste,,,,and you''re full
Hope this helped...wish I could have cut and pasted it (this was a lot of typing) - You won''t want to agree with me, but you are eating too much milk, cheese and meat. Non-fat milk and grilled chicken are things that people think are healthy but are super unhealthy.
You must eats loads of fresh fruits and veggies, and get lots of sleep, and excercise first thing in the morning.
Nothing is wrong with your body, your diet just has too much meat, milke and cheese, and not enough fresh fruits and vegetables.
