Hello, I just have a few questions about trying water fasting?

I have done quite a bit of research tonight and I have come to find(even with everyone saying "don't do it") that it not only helps you lose weight, but it cleans out all the crap in my system as well. I really like that idea. I know some say it will cause my body to go into starvation mode but from what I've hear my body would go into ketosis. I already know what the side effects will be like, I've watched videos. I would just like to know if I would be safe doing it. I have a bmi of 29.0-30(ya obese haha so funny...) Personally I would love to give it a try but I'd also like to know if I need to start off with 5-10 days of fasting first and then work my way up to longer periods? Or can I just start off with a 40 day session? I do have a lot of fat my body can work off of, I eat plenty of salt, I have plenty of minerals flowing through me. If I was okay to do a 40 day session, is it true I should be taking multivitamins with the water? How much water would I need to drink in 1 day to aviod dehydration? I know I can't exsercise a lot but from what I've heard I can still walk and do some light exsercise to help shed some pounds. Is that true? Don't worry I'm not doing it just for weight. I'd like to clean out my body as well. Now I smoke a considerable amount of cigarettes per day. If I were to smoke any during/after the fasting would it basically defeat the whole purpose? If I were to lose weight doing this, would i gain it back? I understand some of it is water weight, but not all of it. I know its not all muscle mass either. If I keep eating healthy and working out after that there is really no reason to gain the weight back right? How would I prepare my body for fasting? I know some people say I would need to change my diet ahead of time, and some say I just need to fill my body up with the essentials before I try. And after fasting once or twice does the body become used to fasting? In other words will I have to fast all the time to keep my body in check? I know it will slow my matabolism a bit at 1st, but I've read that if I slowly allow it to adjust I'll be fine. I heard if I do the water fast when its over I will need to start with no acidic juices, then slowly move to actual fruit and steamed vegitables, then I can allow protien back in as well. I've also heard from a few people that they did basically a lemonade fast with something else and it still worked to lose weight. But that kind of fast wont clean out my system will it? I already eat(what many consider) "healthy". I also belly dance, I do push ups, sit ups, crunches, hiking and a few other things. But I feel pretty discouraged because after all this time it hasn't seemed to make a difference. I've always been athletic but it seems like my workouts become more fat than muscle. Please any advice on water fasting or juice fasting would be fantastic. I'd also like to hear from anyone that has given it a try not just for religious purposes, but to help their bodies as well. I really would rather not have a bunch of shit being talked on me, so please if thats what you want to do..dont. Thank you everyone

How to Lower Cortisol Levels and Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:

Just do this: 30 mins before you eat drink alot of water so when you eat you get full faster and you gain no weight because the water fills up your stomach and you loose weight (its not starving yourself) dont ever do any type of fasting its horrible and you dont get skinner you get bloated and look bigger

Other Answers:

  • Your body is 80% water if you stop giving your body this vital liquid 1 you are going to become bloated because your body is storing as much water as it can to survive it can cause urinary tract infections kidney infections your cells will slow down trying to use less water and you will become tired easily and weaker and will get headaches ( even in short term) DON'T DO IT if you want to lose weight and cleans your system you need lots of water not cut it off drink 1 glass 30 min before every meal and sip on water through out the day
  • Drinking water is the key, however, your body does not store water - it stores salt and it's the salt that holds onto and stores the water. And the only reason it stores salt is because of dehydration. And this doesn't seem to apply in your case, since you're eating plenty of salt - although you are dehydrated. Now, we just have to work out something that will help you lose the weight.I am shocked to see other answers advise to drink water 30 minutes before eating - this is absolutely correct. The reason isn't just to fill you up. Drinking water before eating also helps break down and assimilate the food so that the nutrients can go where they need to and the waste is disposed of properly. It also sets up the pancreas to produce a bicarbonate solution that protects you from acid indigestion. After eating, drink more water to help complete the digestion process. Try to avoid drinking water during the meal and within 2 - 2 1/2 hours after eating. Doing this dilutes the stomach acid and it won't be as effective in breaking down the food, causing fat deposits - just the thing you're trying to avoid. If you MUST drink during this time, keep it minimal. The hard part for you is to limit yourself of food. You need to eat three balanced SINGLE SERVING meals per day, spaced at least 4 hours apart (normal spacing between meals). If needed, you can have a light snack at certain times - this information is given in the guide for correcting dehydration given below.Avoid ALL soft drinks, alcohol, energy drinks and caffeine. Do NOT use artificial sweeteners nor anything containing artificial sweeteners. If you feel hungry, drink water. If this doesn't work, then go ahead and eat - but keep it as light as possible. The whole idea of this exercise is to burn off more calories than you're taking in.You also need exercise - a simple 1 mile walk twice a day will keep your metabolism in gear 24/7 to help dissolve the fat. Once in the morning and once in the evening. It should only take about 1/2 hour.I was in the hospital for 10 days last December and I used this plan (other than the walking. I did walk, but in a hospital, walking a mile is out of the question.) and lost about 30 lbs - an average of 3 lbs per day.Whatever you do, stay with it. It may not seem like you're getting results at first, but it took a long time to gain the wait, and so it will take time to lose it.Because you're dehydrated, you've confused your perception of thirst with your hunger perception and this is why you ate when many times, you should have drink water instead. It's a common occurrence - just look around you. You're not the only one who has this problem. But following the plan you'll find through the link below, these things will reset themselves.
