Why is it that so many people want to drop pounds without working out?

Not just on this site but all around me I see people wanting to lose weight without exercising or eating right. They want starve themselves,go on strange liquid diets, diet pills, every cheat out there. Yes, dieting and exercising is hard, very very hard, but it''s so much more rewarding to know your doing it right! I also don''t get all the questions about how they can lose excessive amounts of weight in a small amount of time. Is it a lack of dedication? Impatience?

Because they don''t know any better. If they new the proper methods of exercise and nutrition, they wouldn''t be fat in the first place.

    Humans (unlike many animals) make short term judgments on things a oppose to long term judgment. Meaning: when we see working out, we think "no enjoyment". We don''t tend to think about the enjoyment we''ll get down the road.

Does he have to drop down to starvation rations just to lose weight? Eat less and exercise more, while seemingly sound, are a recipe for disaster.

    So I get the fads. I also get that real change, the idea of fundamentally altering how you relate to food, how you organize your time, and how active you are, are difficult and scary.

    If a person is genetically predisposed to be overweight, it can be extremely difficult to find the self discipline to change their body, but it can be done.

    I guess that would mean that the primary reason is lack of self discipline.
