Help me loose weight and gain muscle?

I have been working out 5 days a week for 54 days straight. I switch between cardio, yoga, weight resistance. I have been eating an organic, limited dairy, mostly gluten free diet. I have been taking vitamins for my pcos. I have been been walking everywhere. I even tried weigh powder. I have lost twp pounds. No inches. My clothes feel the same. I sweat hard everytime I workout. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??

Lose Weight Fast - How NOT to Lose Weight Fast!

Recommended Answer:
Actually, it''s totally possible to gain muscle and lose weight at the same time. Lift more (weight), run more (if you''re not already, work up to it - running is a great cardio exercise that will definitely help you lose weight) and stick to a schedule with both diet and exercise. Know what exercise you''re going to be doing on any given day and try to eat at specified times. Some people swear by eating six small meals a day, while others say you shouldn''t eat more than three. Find out what''s best for your body, some trial and error can be expected. Also, drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated is crucial. Make sure you work out at least four times a week but give yourself adequate rest (listen to your body). Other than that, sometimes t just takes a while for people to actually start "dropping" the weight. Remember that this SHOULD take a while in order for it to be maintained weight loss. Stick to it and you''ll see improvements.

  • Its actually almost impossible to lose weight and gain muscle at the same time.

First work on gaining muscle and eating lots of protien. Dont worry about losing weight but gain muscle. (After a few weeks of this you may end up a few pounds heavier but thats okay)

Then after a few weeks of that work on losing weight to show off the muscle you have gained. Eat less calories a day and do cardio. If you count your calories and do lots of cardio then u shud loose weight.

So for 2 weeks work on strengthening (with normal amount of calories)

Then for 2 more weeks work on cardio
    (Small anount of calories)

Losing Weight and Losing Those Love Handles

Recommended Answer:
You have to maybe wait until you''ve lost more of your weight to see the difference on your calves and thighs. Maybe you store more fat there than other parts of your body.

Also you could be doing exercises that bulk up your calves which you should then avoid.

Keep your diet on track so that you get to you goal weight and start doing workouts that create long, lean, toned bodies and not bulky or masculine muscular ones.

Try ballet/barre inspired, yoga, pilates or fusions of them. Those create great bodies especially for legs! Look into:

Lotte Berk or Bar Method
Pure Barre
Ballet Body Signature Series from leah sarago
Rockin Models
Pop Physique
Physique 57
Cardio Barre
Ballet Beautiful
Tracy Anderson Method
Ballerobica
Barre3
Booty Barre
Exhale Core Fusion
Winsor Pilates
AeroBarre
anything from Ellen Barrett or Kristen Mcgee
Xtend Barre

These are all great. Also try Tonique workouts.

  • Your probably gaining muscle.
  • What exercises do you perform? Try swimming an cycling as they target the leg area. And don''t get upset but it may actually be your genes, you may be bigger bones and your muscle mass may be different compared to your family. Also try hiking and walking more frequently
  • Omgosh I have the same problem too, but apparently mine is genetics. I seriously want to wear boots.
One of the trainers I talk to said that there is fat around the calves area and we need to work it out by doing calf raises, but i feel like that is going to make mine bigger. You should try it out.
Also, if you have been running and doing any sports at a young age that is also a reason why you have big calves.
Eventually, if you keep on working out, your calf will decrease.

How did you lose weight around your thighs ?? I have been doing squats and lunges with weights and elliptical for 40 mins for 2 weeks now. No improvement at all. :( But I lost 20pounds prior to that..
  • My calves took a while to slim down when I lost weight. I wanted a pair of knee high boots and I bought a pair I could just squeeze into without any socks or pants and over the course of two months of running I slimmed down enough to get into them comfortably.

Try doing some different exercises to tighten up all of the muscles down there and continue to reduce your body fat percentage with diet and hopefully your legs will slim down.
  • Ok if you dont wanna listen to people telling you the truth, then ask a nutritionist or another expert, why are you instructing people to be stupid for you? Your calves are a muscle, nearly pure muscle, how do you lose muscle? you stop training that area, but there isnt anybody thats not training their calves, when you walk you use them all the time, you know? Any fat that you take in doesnt go to your calves, it goes largely into your belly, hips, and thighs, the only way calves would have fat in them is in a severely obese person and even thats rare. Keep working on your legs and thighs, maybe when that starts getting slimmer your calves will naturally ''appear'' smaller. And we are also not exact copies of our parents, we also carry our own set of unique variations and mutations that our parents did not have. I have real big calves, the kind you see in sprinters, my dad has baby calves, my mom has an athletic body type so her calves are as average for a fit woman as it gets, so how do I have the calves of a sprinter then?
  • I know how you feel! i have massive calf muscles but no one else does in my family! Im a dancer so this probably builds up my muscles a lot. I actually asked the doctor about it and he just said its the way im built and theres not much i can do about it. :( The only way to get rid of muscle like that is to not eat much and sit around without moving for a long amount of time so you lose muscle. But then you wont be able to run and jump etc since all your muscle is gone. I have recently lost 4kg and am at my healthy weight, and my calf muscles stayed the same, i suppose its somthing we will have to learn to love :)

What is a healthy weight for a 6''1 female and how can I get there?

Okay, So I am 19 years old, African American, around 6''1 and about 200 pounds. I have a "large frame". I wouldn''t consider myself horribly over-weight. The "extra" is pretty much just in the stomach and arms, which I have gotten really good at concealing. People are shocked when I tell them how much I weigh and they say the weight is because I''m tall. (But I know my deep dark secret. haha) I actually lost around 20 pounds in the last 7 months. Not by choice really, only because I now live off campus and have to power walk a mile to the bus stop 2-4 times a day(because I live in the mountains, the walk is mostly up hill) with a 30-40 lb backpack. I feel like I should have lost more, but my weight just seems to teeter around 200-202.
It''s a little hard to keep my diet in check. I''m constantly on the go (and your typical "broke" college student ;) ) so I grab a banana in the morning and if I forget or don''t have time to pack something I usually skip meaIs until I get home in the evening, or I give in and grab a slice of pizza or a gyro. I don''t even drink soda once in a week...maybe every other. But I do binge on orange juice(might be a problem?)- Not the best diet, I know.
Any ideas for a poor big girl, who''s ready to squeeze in the time to take care of herself?

How to Lose Weight - Don''t Lose Your Sleep and You''ll Lose Your Weight

Recommended Answer:
Around 160lbs is a healthy weight for your height, but that also depends on your body composition. You may have a muscular frame, so give or take 5 pounds. Anyway, the best thing for you to do is drink a gallon of water a day. Seems like your walk is about all the exercise you really need. Keep that up.
Also, plan your meals the night before. Its okay to skip a meal, but you need to skip the later one (dinner) rather than the ones in the middle of the day. You want to get your calories eaten by 6 or 7pm. Drink water and eat fruit after that if needed. But the biggest key is the water. It flushes your system and allows your digestion to be better, and helps increase your metabolism. Oh, and the orange juice (although it has vitamin c that is good for you) is FULL OF SUGAR and calories. So, limit how much you drink. You may want to switch to grapefruit juice instead. I''m sure you can do it. Drink the water, you will see a transformation in a few months.

  • Anywhere in between 142 - 180 pounds.
  • I believe 150-190lb is the healthy range. To lose weight, you need to reduce calorie intake by about 500 per day. So let''s say you burn 2500 calories in a typical day (with a moderately active lifestyle), if you consume 2000 calories a day, you should lose approx 1lb of fat per week. Hope this helps.
  • You should check out http://goo.gl/QTjqU for a superb weight loss program
  • do some weights, maybe some cardio
  • Yeah thats healthy you could even put on more weight and it´d still be healthy
  • I am a 5''1", 18 year old female....what is a healthy weight for me?

Will 20 minutes of step-ups help me lose weight?

I''m fourteen years old, dress size 14 (UK) and I weigh 11 stone :( I started jogging with my dad after Xmas and we attempted 2 miles (but I ended up walking most of it). Now, because the weather is so bad, we do step-ups at home on the stairs (always the second step, not the first one in case that makes a difference) and I can now do 20 mins of step-ups without having to stop. I REALLY want to be happy with my weight by the time summer arrives because we’re going on a holiday to Majorca and I want to be confident when we visit the beach! lol

So, will 20 mins of step-ups make a difference? Of course, I eat a lot healthier now too. I have corn flakes & raisins for breakfast, two small tuna rolls for lunch (sometimes I have reduced-fat mayonnaise with turkey breast instead) and for dinner my dad always makes something relatively healthy (and I have reduced my portion sizes). My only downfall is that I still have sugar in my coffee & tea :P

Please reply quick & thanks in advance!

What is the Best Way to Lose Weight Without Exercise? Discover the Truth Behind Losing Weight

Majorca, very beautiful place.

The 20 minutes will help, IF you are doing at a decent pace. This is a pace that keeps you breathing a bit harder than normal, say a light jog, also make sure you are sweating a little bit at the least! The harder you are working the more calories you will burn.

You should add in some light yoga to help with making your muscle long and strong, along with a core workout plan that only takes 5-10 minutes (use this as a warm up).

The diet is great and I''m glad your father is helping. Tell him thank you, because support is worth it''s weight in gold!

You should also drink plenty of water. 500ml when you wake up and before bed, also try to drink 500 ml before every meal (this will suppress appetite and help you eat less portions). That''s a grand total of 2.5L of water a day. I know it sounds like a lot, but if you break it up into 5 times a day it wont be much at all :)

Here is a site for abdominal exercises to help you out. The more muscle you build the more calories you will burn! GOOD LUCK!

  • It''ll help, but it will be slow and maybe not so effective, it depends on your body, but other things you can do are things like jogging on the spot inside or star jumps or something since the weather in England is always terrible
    For me anyway,

But uh yeah, it should cut down so long as you keep at it.
    Dancing helps too
And do lots of stretches and some muscle work for toning afterward
  • You should use acomplia, it is the best about it you can get information from here page => webmd.life-to-you.info/AAVnxyq

Weight loss at 14 weeks pregnant without nausea?

I''m almost 14 weeks pregnant, 120lbs 5''2". I''ve lost 5 pounds so far and eat every hour, on the hour and have been staying away from rigorous exercise. I can''t figure out why I could be losing weight with all of my calorie intake.
I had issues gaining weight with my daughter and only got up to 120 with her. I''ve been eating as many carbs as I can and my doc is concerned and wants me to keep an eye on food intake.

How to Lose Weight in 2 Weeks by Eating Healthy Food

Recommended Answer:
Dont worry that is fine! I lost 20 lbs my first 4 months. I am 5''2" as well and was 127 when I started. I never threw up once from nausea. My diet did change I didnt want to eat anything but fruit and salad but it was all the time. I wouldnt be worried about it. I ended up gaining my 20 back plus 40 more. As long as you are eating healthy and taking your prenatal vitamins... There is nothing to be worried about.

I would go to the docs just to put your mind at ease! :)

  • If your weight loss is causing you to be concerned, honey, then I would call your doctor and make an appointment to get checked out. There are many reasons why you could be loosing weight, and to find out why, you should see your doctor to put your mind at ease.

Maybe you have a high metabolism, and you need to eat foods that will "stick" with you during the day to keep you filled up, so talk to your doctor and see what you can do.

    G♥♥d luck :-)
    (((hugs)))♥♥♥
  • I would figure out how many calories you are actually eating and then talk to your doctor. List the items you are eating every day. You don''t really want to lose weight.

How much weight will I lose eating 50-100 calories for the next 3 weeks?

I know its stupid. I''m 116 pounds, 5''5. I don''t exercise because I''m more than busy. (Im so busy being on yahoo answers is like a big hunk of time)
I''m proud of my body, although my friend and I in our dorm room are actually doing a study in our human health class and we have to do a project on eating disorders, but more complex than you think, its also the psychology we''re researching.
We wanted to find out how much weight a female weight 116 height 5''5 would lose at eating 50-100 calories each day for the next 3 weeks for our diagram. kinda urgent, we''re to lazy for math xD
without exercise, too. thanks

That''s extremely dangerous! I sure hope you''re not actually planning to carry out this experiment on yourself.

Keep in mind the body can end up going into starvation mode with that few calories and may cling to every little bit that''s taken in. It also depends on metabolism and genetics so there is no set formula to determine just how much would be lost.

  • Seriously, you will die with this diet. A woman your height and weight needs at least 1200-1500 calories. Anything less than 700 is dangerous.
  • lol this girl just wants attention

everyone go look at her posted questions...
just five days ago she was 107 pounds! just two days ago, she was eating 25 calories a day!

How to lose weight fast?

ok so i wanna lose a bit of weight(im a girl) but my trouble area is my tummy any body got any thing they did from websites to diet plans to exercises?

Is It Possible To Lose Weight Fast?

Recommended Answer:
The only secret to losing weight is exercise. Yes, you must start exercising. Try this:

Go for a walk in the morning and evening everyday for 30 minutes.(If you have the time, extend it to 1 hour instead)

Start eating healthier:
No fast food
No pop/soda
No chips
Eat lots of veggies/fruits
Reduce the amount of calories you are intaking to about 1500(confront your doctor on this number)
Drink plenty of water(about 1 gallon everyday)

Do some bodyweight training aswell. This means squats, lunges etc for your legs. Upper body you should do basics such as pushups, crunches, chin ups, etc.

Building muscle will improve fat loss and help you tone up. Don''t believe that you will get muscular and big from working out, girls just can''t.

Do keep in mind that fitness is a lifestyle, so please don''t stop eating healthy/exercising once you are at your acquired "weight". Don''t look at the scale.

Anyways, hope I helped.

  • Key points:

Eat a higher proportion of fruit and vegetables
Eat a lower proportion of fats/meat/sweets
Try to stay away from fast food
Try to exercise daily, running/jogging/swimming etc

I personally lost 4 stone to achieve a healthy weight after turning vegetarian, but whatever works for you?
  • Just count how many calories you eat, aim for around 1100 and do cardio 5 days a week.
  • South Beach! I lost 13 pounds in two week. Just stop eating all carbs, milk and sweets:)
  • higher rep weight training
an also use cardio exercise directly after

an reduce carbs, an eat more lean proteins
    an drink green tea
  • What do you mean by fast?
If you''re looking to drop 20 pounds in 2 weeks, don''t bother trying. Getting rid of tummy fat is probably the hardest to get rid of (it''s the last place that comes off). I''ve been on a fitness plan, and have lost 40 lbs in about 4 1/2 months, and I''ve still got a bit to go on my belly.
Do abdominal workouts, cardio, basic strenght training, switch it up, and try counting calories. Don''t eat too many "bad'' carbs, and cut back on sugar.
Here are two websites that have been extremely helpful for me:
    http://www.fitnessblender.com/
    http://caloriecount.about.com/
I do a 1200 calorie diet, but they usually give you a bit more.
