Does eating less affect your sleep?

I've been eating 500 calories or less since Monday and I've noticed I'm becoming more tired. Does eating less calories make you tired?

How to Lose Weight Fast: 14 Things You Can Do to Lose Weight Quickly!

Recommended Answer:
Yes, eating so few calories can make you tired. If you do not get enough nourishment and calories, it is like you are trying to drive a car somewhere, without enough gas in the tank. The car slows down, and stops, before you arrive. Because it has run out of fuel.

500 calorie diets may have even more dangerous risks than just getting more tired. You might want to do some more research before continuing with this. Besides, there are easier ways to lose fat, that will actually give you more energy. Like eating a more reasonable amount of food, and doing a few quick (10-20 minute) kettlebell workouts each week. Plus eating foods that boost your metabolism, like coconut oil.

Speaking of sleep, people who are sleep deprived who start to sleep more at night, and do not diet, often lose weight naturally. Getting the right amount of sleep actually helps your body have the optimal hormonal balance for fat loss.

"On average, we need about 7.5 hours of quality sleep per night, he says. “If you are getting this already, another half hour will not help you lose 10 pounds, but if you are a five-hour sleeper and start to sleep for seven hours a night, you will start dropping weight.”" -Dr. Breus, PhD, author of Beauty Sleep and the clinical director of the sleep division for Arrowhead Health in Glendale, Ariz.

Hope that helps!

Is weight lifting or yoga better?

I need to take one more Physical Education course for college credit. I took two semesters of Pilates and I enjoyed it. I am a thin girl but I want to get a toned body. I want to take a weight training class but it doesn't fit well into my schedule. Hatha yoga fits into my schedule well but I feel like its light exercise that will not do much to my body. It can make me feel less anxious. I can also take P.E. class in the summer or next semester and just do my own weight training workout this semester. Should I take it now or later?

Why Losing Weight Fast is Bad!

Yoga is fun and easy.

Yoga (Yog – the ‘a’ is silent) originated in ancient India. It is derived from the Sanskrit word, ‘Yuj”, meaning “to join”, concentrate ones energies on, bend, and is one of the six Indian orthodox philosophies. Sages in forests taught members royalty ways of meditating and exercising to live healthier, longer lives. Yoga is not all meditation; it is a combination of exercises and meditation. Yoga consists of 175 brief aphorisms and is believed to be a means to commune with God.

Today, yoga as a form of exercise is practiced the world over by people from all walks of life. The Asanas (Postures) should never be practiced immediately after practicing rhythmic breathing. There should be an hour between breathing exercises and exercises. What was once the secret of “yogis” and royalty is now common knowledge – but it still needs to be done right. A man who practices yoga is called a Yogi and a woman who practices yoga is called a Yogin.

What Is Yoga?

Did you ever hear of a Ýogi (Hermit) meditate and levitate? Levitate as in float in mid air with no support under or above him? It does happen, but the only one who “experiences” it is the yogi himself. This is because he does not physically levitate – it is all in the mind! When one achieves perfect meditation though yoga, one does not feel anything around him, no voices, no sound, no feeling even someone touching him, and no sensation of the seat he is seated on while meditating. This is a feeling of floating in space and is called levitating. So intense is the level of meditating that a yogi can stop his heart beat for some time – and this is total bliss!

Meditation helps clear and calm the mind, reduce stress and blood pressure, while the other exercises of yoga help build a better immune system and strengthen all the internal organs of the body.

Yoga is a means of heart disease prevention and health benefits. Certain breathing exercises help strengthen the cardiovascular system and the lungs. Together the heart and the lungs provide oxygenated blood to the rest of the body.

Other forms of exercise in yoga help massage the organs in the abdominal cavity and effectively aid and strengthen the digestive system and improve ones health. However, nothing comes overnight – not even with the magical effects of yoga. Yoga has been known to cure chronic and terminal diseases, but this has got to be practiced over many years under expert guidance – or it can actually do more damage than good!

Yoga for Weight Loss

Yoga as a form of exercise is also known to be very effective for weight loss. There are certain breathing exercises, postures that release pressure on veins, pressure points that are stimulated and glands are stimulated to help the body burn fat deposits.

While yoga is a great means to lose weight and health benefits it also professes eating healthy food and cultivating a healthy lifestyle. Yogis were primarily Pundits (Hindu priests) and they never touched meat, fish or eggs. Therefore, they always professed that their pupils stay away from such food. Even today this culture prevails. People who teach yoga will advise their pupils to stay away from such food that is rich in fat.

If dieting and exercise is combined with yoga, it can be the most effective way to lose weight, improve health, fight disease and prevent heart disease. However, it cannot be reiterated enough that yoga must always be performed under the expert supervision of a trained yogi if damage to muscle tissue, bones and internal organs is to be avoided.

Hypnosis - Lose Weight With Hypnosis Easily, Naturally & Permanently For Anyone and It Works

You really do answer your own question.... There are no tricks...

... to lose weight a bit more 'efficiently' you could adopt the alternate day fasting (ADF), or zone diet strategy. ADF requires a person to know their daily/weekly calorie amount and then reduce that amount to create a deficit to lose weight (ie if you must eat 3000 cals daily to maintain you current weight and you wanted to lose 1kg per week for 12 weeks you would have to simply reduce your daily cals by 500 per day, and eat 2500 calories daily), with ADF you fast for two days a week and eat your weight loss calorie amount total for the remaining five days. You only eat one meal of 800 calories for breakfast on your two fast days and then zero calories for the remainder or the day, which also means no drinks or beverages that contain calories either. So... if your daily calories amount to lose weight was 2500 (2500x7 = 175000 calories you need to eat (or slightly less) per week to lose weight... if you eat 800 calories only for two days (1600 total) then the other five days you can eat more than your 2500... 2500 cals X 2 days - 5000 cals ... 1600 cals - 5000 cals = 3400, which can then be spread across the other 4 days. (3400 / 5 = 680 calories more per day) ... 2500 + 680 = 3180 calories per day!!! ... in a nutshell you eat 3180 calories per day for five days a week and 800 calories on two days; your weekly calorie amount to lose weight will still be the same (total of 17500 for the week), but the two days you fasted for will have created a larger/faster calorie loss compared to what you would have lost over a week if you had just eaten the same amount of calories each day.

The zone diet is almost the same as it uses a weekly calorie amount, but instead of having fast days, it has a different calorie amount each day. Some days are high and some are low.

The results from both diet strategies work... but with ALL diets to lose weight, you have to stick to them 100% ... doing it 99% often does not work... at the end of the day it all boils down to 'those people who know exactly what to do, and then do it... and those who know exactly what to do and choose not to do it' .... which type are you?

Good luck... ;0)

How long will it take for my metabolism to go back to normal after a juice fast?

We have a juicer at home, so I figured I might as well try a 2-week juice fast; nothing too long or intensive.

I'm worried, though, that it'll be more trouble than it's worth. I know you regain a lot of it back afterwards, because it messes up your metabolism--but how long will it take for my metabolism to go back to the way it was before the fast?

For example, if I continued eating the same way afterwards, will I end up gaining even more weight than I lost?

Best Diet to Lose Weight - How to Lose 20 Pounds in 10 Days

Recommended Answer:
You don't need to worry about your metabolism because it won't get messed up. There are many reason why juice fasting is unhealthy and foolish but metabolism is not one of them. The answer to your question is, your metabolism is normal and will continue to be normal, doing what metabolism does by reacting to the demands you make of your body chemisty.

You cannot make your metabolism speed up significantly or more than briefly without adding muscle. Here's the story.

One of the most common myths or misunderstandings in diet, nutrition, and fitness is that metabolic rate is responsible for a person's natural tendency toward being fat or thin or muscular. Or that metabolic rate can be changed to help lose fat or gain weight. This is not true and easy evidence of that fact can be found here ---> http://www.calculator.net/bmr-calculator.html where basal metabolic rate (BMR) can be calculated with only height, weight, sex, and age. If metabolism was responsible for gaining fat or staying thin, that natural tendency would have to be included in the calculation of BMR. It's not.

It's important to understand this fact because it will put an end to the frustration that comes with trying to change the metabolic rate to create a specific effect such the loss or gain of body weight, fat, or muscle. Unless you have a real medical issue, your metabolism is fine and nothing you do is going to create more than a normal temporary change in metabolic rate with one exception. Adding lean muscle mass will raise your BMR by about 50 cal/day per pound of muscle for as long as you maintain that muscle. That's a lot of work for a little change but for many, it's an excellent metabolic investment.

If it's important to you to blame something for being an easy or hard gainer, then blame your parents because those propensities are inherited...genetic. Or blame your soma (body) type (ecto, endo, or mesomorph) and the number of fat cells you have. But don't blame your metabolism because it is nothing more than the totality of the energy exchanges which happen every second of every day as required to sustain your life given the demands of the moment.

Most people would be well advised to not even use the word metabolism as it has no real relevance to the problems of being an easy or hard gainer. It makes no more sense to think about your metabolism in regard to diet or exercise than it does to think about your car's horsepower when pressing on the gas pedal to go or the brake pedal to stop. If you're concerned with losing fat, gaining weight, building muscle, or maintaining, follow good diet, exercise, and fitness strategies and your metabolism will take care of itself.

For more about metabolism, go here and see what the experts have to say ---> http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/metabolism/WT00006

NOTE - It's worth mentioning that there are websites with articles about "boosting" the metabolism. Livestrong.com and WebMD.com are examples of credible websites which suggest ways to boost the metabolism. And, although what they say is true qualitatively, they don't provide any quantitative information thereby leading the reader to believe they may be able to make fat loss easy. The truth is anything you do to increase your energy output temporarily will increase your metabolism. However, nothing other than adding muscle will boost your metabolism significantly and permanently. Be very careful about information you glean from dot coms. There is as much bad information on the internet as there is good and most of it is driven by profit motive.

Don't drink your food. Eat it. I don't have the room left to explain why juicing is bad. Suffice it to say you deprive yourself of a significant part of the GI exercise that goes with eating...mastication, salivation, digestion, peristalsis, etc. And, you get more calories fasting drinking while depriving yourself of the fiber-rich pulp you get from eating whole fruit.

The reason you'll regain fat lost with juice fasting is because you'll return to your normal eating habits which gave you the fat to begin with.

Good luck and good health!

The famous Cabbage diet?

How much weight would i loose if i stuck with the cabbage soup for 2 weeks drinking only water, unsweetened green tea,& eating uncooked veggies. And of course exercising minimum an hour a day.

Best Weight Loss Diet - Why Eating Healthy is a Far More Effective Way to Lose Weight Than Fad Diets

Recommended Answer:
The cabbage soup diet is a crash diet that is very good for a very fast and very temporary weight loss. In most cases you will regain all your lost weight.

If you lose weight too fast, as with crash diets, you will most likely regain it all.

Losing more than 2 lbs or 1 kg per week is too fast and you will regain it all in most cases.

Walking to Lose Weight - Fitness Tips For Any Season

It is okay to have a some fat (you really do need to have some fat on your body in order to be healthy). The weight increase is probably due to muscle increase (muscle weighs more than fat). Remember to stay away from sugary beverages (they add too many extra calories into your diet). Since it seems that you are being healthy, my best advice is to be happy with yourself. And remember the saying "meat is for the man, bones are for the boys" because men really do like some meat on their women and they do not like to hug a women that goes "crunch". Good night.

  • diet and do more exercise!
  • Eat healthy(kale is very good), try a new sport, don't go to the gym and lift weights.
  • The problem could probably be with the food that you are eating and the intervals (meaning the duration of time between each meal) that you are eating in. If you are eating fatty foods (rich in saturated, trans fats) throughout the day its not going to help even if you lived at the gym. The fastest and easiest way to lose weight is to combine healthy food with going to the gym. You don't necessarily have to go on a diet, just the word itself usually stops people from wanting to lose weight. Just eat better more nutrient dense food. (Instead of a donut and coffee for breakfast, with very high sugar and calories, try omelets, a bowl of fruit, and a glass of orange juice, not that many calories and very nutritious and really not that bad to eat) Just make small adjustments in your diet and I'm positive you'll see results instantly.
  • Gym is good but , instead go for swimming !!
daily1hour morning and 1 hour in evening swim gives you a faster results !!
  • Take the stairs.
Park way in the back of the parking lot and take the extra walk.
    Avoid fatty foods.
    Set goals.
  • Gym helps but it does not work well if you are not maintaining a good diet.
