Yes, eating so few calories can make you tired. If you do not get enough nourishment and calories, it is like you are trying to drive a car somewhere, without enough gas in the tank. The car slows down, and stops, before you arrive. Because it has run out of fuel.
500 calorie diets may have even more dangerous risks than just getting more tired. You might want to do some more research before continuing with this. Besides, there are easier ways to lose fat, that will actually give you more energy. Like eating a more reasonable amount of food, and doing a few quick (10-20 minute) kettlebell workouts each week. Plus eating foods that boost your metabolism, like coconut oil.
Speaking of sleep, people who are sleep deprived who start to sleep more at night, and do not diet, often lose weight naturally. Getting the right amount of sleep actually helps your body have the optimal hormonal balance for fat loss.
"On average, we need about 7.5 hours of quality sleep per night, he says. “If you are getting this already, another half hour will not help you lose 10 pounds, but if you are a five-hour sleeper and start to sleep for seven hours a night, you will start dropping weight.”" -Dr. Breus, PhD, author of Beauty Sleep and the clinical director of the sleep division for Arrowhead Health in Glendale, Ariz.
