How to Lose Weight Safely as a Diabetic

Recommended Answer:

How to motivate yourself to lose weight. 1. Announce it to a bunch of people. Tell your family and friends that you are going to lose N pounds a month. It helps, because, others will expect you to change and will ask you about your progress. 2. Make a bet. Either with another friend, who is trying to lose weight, or with someone who does not. You will feel like winning, and winning that (maybe not that large) sum of money. 3. Buy a cute outfit, the size you want to become, and try it on every evening. 4. You will need to exercise to lose weight, so find an activity that you really enjoy. 5. Combine your goals. Say, you joined a gym, or started using a swimming pool, or joined a badminton club - use the occasion to meet people of opposite gender and socialize. This way, exercise will be more enjoyable. 6. Keep a track of your progress. Photograph yourself once a week, weight yourself, put the data down and make it your weekly ritual. Seeing progress really helps. 7. Put photos of athletic looking men or women on your fridge. Every time you open the door, you will look at them, and want to be like them, that will help with binging. 8. Find same-minded people. Join a club, or find a group of people who are trying to lose weight, to mutually support each other. It will boost your social life, too. 9. Often, people eat because they are bored. Evaluate your life and try to find ways to make it more interesting (evening classes, going outs, volunteering, a new hobby). This will keep you busy and keep your mind off eating. 10. Spend more time with your dog or get one from a shelter. You will do a good deed, plus will keep active and occupied, walking it out. Meet other dog lovers in your area, to make it more sociable.

  • For weight loss, dieting is more effective than exercise. Reducing your intake of junk sugar will help as in items 22 and 106 in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htm The natural sugars in fruits are OK as they are metabolised to glucose slowly due to their high fiber content. Fruits are low in calories and are not fattening. Most fruits are metabolism boosting foods and most vegetables as well and that helps for weight loss.
  • Don't even keep hi calorie food in the house. Here's a good low-carb food/exercise plan:Breakfast: Cook 9-grain cereal (from health food store) in water with rolled oats and wheat bran. Make a pot of it on weekends and nuke 1/2 cup each morning. Then stir in low fat milk or yogurt, banana, walnuts and berries. Drink hot Ovaltine. Breakfast should be your largest meal of the day to raise blood sugar level which falls during the night.Lunch: Egg, tuna or turkey ½ sandwich on multi-grain (not just whole wheat) bread with bean or alfalfa sprouts, yogurt, fresh fruit. If you had meat loaf for dinner, bring a meat loaf sandwich on whole grain bread (NO mayo). On cold days, a squatty thermos of hot chili, split peas with ham, or beef stew.Snacks: Fresh (not canned) fruit. Nothing ever from a vending machine. Fruit smoothies. Dinner: salad with white meat chicken and fresh (not canned) veggies: tomatoes, 2 kinds of lettuce, 2 kinds of shredded cabbage, shredded or sliced carrots, alfalfa or bean sprouts, zucchini, green or red peppers, hard boiled eggs, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, tofu, cottage cheese, spinach...Instead of dressing, squeeze 1/4 tomato over it. Or homemade bean/vegetable soups; great way to recycle leftovers.Or grilled fish with steamed veggies.Or omelet: In blender, whip together eggs, tofu, cottage cheese, onions, garlic powder. Cook with mushrooms, chopped tomatoes and green or red peppers. Avoid junk food, fast foods, pastries, desserts, anything with sugar (cancer cells feed on sugar), gluten, syrup (even canned fruit in syrup), peanut butter, fat/grease (pork, wieners, chops, bacon, salami, pizza, chips, fries), pasta, potatoes, ramen, popcorn, white bread, rice, canned veggies, ice cream (it's lard + chemicals), chips, tobacco, alcohol (kills brain cells) and coffee (carcinogenic). No oil except olive and mac nut. Sodas (loaded with toxins; leads to stroke, obesity, kidney damage, high BP and inhibits bone growth in kids. To keep your skin clear, drink water, tea, veggie juice, unsweetened fruit juice.Join a gym; they have all the equipment and staff to show you how to use it to get the look you want to achieve, but you have to ask them. Much cheaper than buying your own equipment. Go hiking, biking, jogging, bowling, swimming, rowing, jump rope, play tennis, badminton, volleyball, soccer, jumping jacks, lift weights, trampoline? To tone your tummy, do sit ups, push ups, pull ups, leg lifts, butt raises and crunches. For more energy, take Super B complex. Try appetite suppressants.

I'm done with my weight loss journey and completely happy with how I feel and how I look right now however losing weight is a challenge for anyone and even losing 5 pounds and keeping it off isn't an easy task. Also I bet you didn't know that 5 pounds of fat is about the size of 8 cheese burgers? That alone should be enough to make anyone want to get on the ball and start a change for the better. Weight loss can be really easy to learn but the problem is nobody wants to put the required effort that is needed to actually do it, instead people continually look for (easy) ways to do it. If there was an easy way to lose weight I don't think 35% of Americans would be obese. There was a time when I also wanted to lose weight and was tired of starting diets only to lose motivation and give up just a few weeks later after seeing no results. However, let me tell you it is literally one of the easiest things you will ever learn once you find a good and reputable place to learn it from and I say that only because the world is filled with magic diet pills, liquid flush diets and a thousand other quick fixes that promise xx pounds of weight loss in the first week and even though it is impossible they know you're going to do it because your desperate. I have probably tried every diet pill, liquid flush diet, and ab rocket machine known to man and have had no success with any of them nor do I know anyone that has ever had any success with them. I have also tried starving myself which works very well for the first few weeks' right before your metabolism comes to a complete stop and eating just the tiny bit makes you gain weight and you end up weighing more than you did before you started starving yourself. • You will lose weight with that if you burn more cals than you take in. BUT, I'm afraid your body will go into starvation mode since you will be undereating by about 1000 cals.
  • If your male you should aim to consume 2000 caps per day and if your female 1500 try to get a balance of food lots of fruit veggies good grains and protein of course! The occasional bar of chocolate won't hurt or kfc! Have fun

It sounds like you need to see a doctor. Yo Yo dieting is extremely bad for your body, so who knows what damage you''ve done. Your liver cleanses and detoxes your body every single day, so you don''t need anything special for that. Please see a doctor. This is what would be the best for you at this point.

Best Weight Loss Diet - Why Eating Healthy is a Far More Effective Way to Lose Weight Than Fad Diets

Recommended Answer:
Muscle weighs more than fat does. Fat also takes up a lot more space because the tissue is more spread out, where as muscle tissue is very compact and tight.

So when people diet and exercise, they hit that plateau phase because they''ve lost a lot of fat, but at the same time, they''re building up muscle and toning they''re body. That''s why you''re losing inches, but not weight.

I''ve been told to not pay attention to the numbers on the scale because it distorts everything and makes you think that nothing''s happening. Rather, judge your improvement based on your clothes fitting better, your arms, legs, and butt getting smaller, and your heart health, and just your overall well-being.

Hope that helps!

  • cut out refined sugar and watch your carb intake... dont rely on pasta rice and bread... eat plenty of veggies and fruit ( ive yet to meet someone who got fat from eating fruit and veggies) drink plenty of water and dont cut too many calories...that will just put your bod in starve mode. Good Luck

Almost 12 weeks pregnant, pretty bloated, but haven't gained a single pound?

Why is this? I don't understand. I look like I'm farther along, but I know it's bloat. It's kind of embarrassing. I thought bloat would cause weight gain?? I haven't been too sick, so I haven't lost any weight. Had a healthy diet and ate enough. Drink lots of water, and I don't feel gassy, so what could the bloat be from? And why would I not gain any weight from the bloat? Any advice? It sucks because I only have one pair of jeans that fit now so I'm usually wearing sweats. :( Don't have the money for new jeans yet.

Lose Weight for the Summer

Its normal to not gain weight but have a belly. And you should really invest in a belly band they are under 20 dollars and it allows you to wear your old jeans (you can leave them un-buttoned and pull the band over it and you can't even tell!!) I didn't gain weight until I was 16 weeks but I had a pretty big baby bump, I'm 20 weeks now and I have gained 10 lbs and its all in my stomach!! And I'm wearing my same old jeans because of the belly band! the thing is amazing!!

  • Its because its all bloating. The hormone that maintains the pregnancy for the first 12 weeks causes this.

Holiday Weight Loss Tips - How to Lose Weight During the Holiday Season

Recommended Answer:
There is something called the "Master Cleanse" (Lemonade diet). ...I did this a few years ago and lost 10 lbs in about 10 days. ...many doctors are against this, saying that it loses muscle tissue as opposed to fat, but I felt very good after the 10 days, so i can only comment by my own experience.

The Daily Recipe:

7 1/2 cups purified filtered water (not tap)
3/4 cups grade B pure organic maple syrup (not the fake pancake maple syrup)
3/4 cups fresh squeezed juice of (preferably) organic lemons
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

The above will provide a concoction you can drink throughout the day and it actually tastes really good (the cayenne gives it a nice little kick). ...no food whatsoever is allowed during these days of cleansing. ...you may, however, drink plain decaf herbal tea or laxative tea at night. Also, if you want to flush your body further, you can drink a quart of warm filtered water with 2 tsp of organic sea salt (not iodized) in the morning and at night...this salt/water mixture will cause diarrhea within about 1.5 hrs and the taste is disgusting (I just plugged my nose and guzzled it), but I figure if I'm going to do the job, I may as well do it right the first time... ...and it paid off, it was great losing 10 lbs in such a short amount of time.

When I did this cleanse, the first 4 days were grueling, then after that it became easy for me and I felt like i could go on forever (but I believe the max for this cleanse is recommend for 11 to 14 days). ...if you have health problems (like diabetes), disregard this entire answer.

Top Five Tips to Lose Weight

I am in the same boat no joke. I am 20 years old 5'1" and way 160 :'(
I found out my problem is that I don't have a regular schedule. Meaning I always go to sleep and different times and I eat at different times. You need to keep you body on a regular schedule. For example, try to go to bed at 10pm and only flex about 2 hours within that. Then eat at 8am or flex within two hours of that then lunch and so on and so forth.

Also you need to cut out useless sugar and calories meaning pop. It makes a difference over time believe me. Drink more water and tea even it helps boast the metabolism.

Always exercise everyday. One key is to make appointments for your self to exercise and attend them. It can be at home or the gym. Always dedicate 10 min. If you still feel good go 5 min extra. Do this everyday and try to add a couple minutes at a time and before you know it you can do hour workouts like nothing!

Key is to do everything slowly so you don't shock your body. You will get yourself into a routine that will help you out and actually make you feel like its not a drag to drink water or exercise.

I been doing this for 6 months now and actually its been going great I am loosing weight slowly but I am loosing it and feeling ten times better on the inside. If you want to loose weight faster change your diet to cut out a lot of sugars and fats, that will really help.

Hope this helps!! (: remember it takes a while to loose weight but its so worth it in the end, remember slow and steady wins the race and doesn't binge later on bad foods from starving your body (:

PS its all about portion control. People always tell you don't eat bread or pasta but it actually is good for you if you choose the multi grains and the whole wheats. Just its all about portion control. The real evil is that sugar and fats that sneak up in the foods so just watch out for that.

  • Hi! I'm 15 and 5'1 as well and I weigh 112 pounds.
If you want to lose weight, you should:
    Eat 1300 calories a day
Drink only water and tons of green tea (it destroys fat cells)
Exercise! But don't do strength training exercises as they make you gain weight in muscle
Don't eat bad carbs like pasta or bread, etc.
  • You'll need to talk to your parents about the purchase of better food like fresh produce. Then, you'll show gratitude by eating vegetables and fruit. Do that plus very low salt. Don't have any food with altered fats like commercial pastries and snacks. Count calories. Exercise. You'll lose.

How does a skinny guy gain weight and muscle mass?

So i just turned 20 on Christmas. im 5'11'' and have weighed 130 lbs since i was 13. i have a super fast metabolism and cannot for the life of me seem to gain ANY weight. I'm very self concious and cant stand myself everytime i look in the mirror. my overall goal is to get to 180-190 lbs, but if i could reach 160 i know i would feel much better about myself.
Is there anyone out there who knows how someone in my situation can put on a good amount of weight? preferably in a short amount of time...
NOTE: This IS NOT the same as an average build or obese person trying to build muscle. i DO workout, i DO eat well, and i also spend 8 hours a day doing heavy lifting at work. i can sit around all day and eat or workout all day and eat. my metabolism WILL NOT let me gain 1 lb.

Lose Weight As You Get Older - Ezine Articles

Recommanded Answer:
It seems that your main problem is that you are not eating enough. You could be eating well but simply not enough since you are lifting heavy at work for such prolonged periods of time. You need to fuel that with a lot of calories if not you will either stall or worse, lose weight in the process. If you are looking to gain weight, you will also need to spend a bit of time seeing if 8 hours of sleep is sufficient for you. When I was in the army, even 8 hours of sleep wasn't enough due to the highly intensive lifestyle I led then. Here are my suggestions on how to get your workout right, your diet to have enough calories to help you gain weight as well as how to sleep well.

In terms of diet, it is important to consider eating a high calorie diet filled with natural food. The foods you should eat more of are bread, pasta, potatoes, biscuits and rice. This will help give you energy to work on the pitch as well as give you the ability to gain weight by making your calorie intake higher than your output. You can also try adding milk into your diet to help you get the protein you need to help you to repair muscles which is the healthy way to gain and maintain weight. I would recommend starting out by drinking 500ml of milk 3 times each day if you are not lactose intolerant. Weigh yourself once every week and see if your weight increase, if not simply drink a 100ml more of milk each time. Once you spot a gain of 1-2 pounds, then it is time to hit the workout room and get proper rest.

The important thing to prime yourself up to gain muscle mass as weight is to sleep well. If you do not rest enough, your muscles and immune system will take a hit and make gaining weight even harder. Even though this may seem simple, it took me a while to get the hang of it and to apply it on a consistent basis. One test I would like you to try is to sleep and wake up by yourself on a day where you have no activities plan ahead. Take note of how many hours you need to sleep and keep repeating that daily in order to ensure that you gain the weight you need as well as keep your immune system strong so that you will not fall sick which will cause you to lose weight.

The last thing is to spot what workout fits you best. So far, I have found the workout at http://gohforth.com extremely good in terms of helping me and my clients to gain weight. I was able to consistently put on a pound a week without suffering much downtime. There were also months I can gain close to 5 pounds which is an extremely big motivation to spur me on to train, sleep and eat properly. Perhaps you could give it a try and see if it changed your life like it did for me.

  • Your a hard gainer like me, which means you will need to eat more calories than most. For me to pit on ANY muscle I HAVE to eat atleast 3,000 calories a day, sounds like your in the same boat which means you have to work twice as hard as guys who's genetics are better for muscle building. Not only hard work but eating right, like I said 3,000 calories is what I have to eat, no matter what. And they have to be good calories, not just junk! is college the reason I am losing weight?

I am male 6 foot 1, 160 pounds. I don't know if that's considered underweight but I really think im skinny and I let it get to me and it makes me feel nervous and anxiety and whatnot, anyways it seems like whenever I start college I lose a couple of pounds and no matter what I do, I can;t gain it back. Then when summer comes I'll gain 3-5 more pounds. i don't know why it is because I'm not doing anything different. I'm eating the same if not more but I wonder if it might be stress? I've tried taking natural supplements that reduce anxiety and stress and it helps to an extent but I feel stressed and weighed down by all the homework and studying and going from class to class. what do you think and what can I do to solve it?

Tips on How to Lose Weight Fast for the New Year

Recommanded Answer:
Many people lose weight because of stress and that seems to be the case with you. Then when you aer on vacation from college you are less stressed and can gain the weight back. Maybe start a strength training/weight lifting routine. If you don't have access to a gym check here for strength training exercises you can do at home. Strength training/weight lifting is really helpful for a whole variety of reasons, including long term weight control, for building muscle, for toning, for improving appearance and posture, and for boosting your metabolism.

Top Five Tips to Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
Ok at 13 it is about a healthy lifestyle NOT dieting so I'm happy to see your questions are based around that and not "what diet will make me skinny!" :) So here is answers to your questions:

1. Will you lose fat? most likely yes. Will you lose weight? Possibly not. Why you ask? The simple answer is muscle weights more then fat so if you are doing a lot of toning exercise (the kinds of exercises you need to burn fat in the areas you have listed) then it is likely as you burn fat you will gain muscle. So don't be dis-heartened if the scales don't reflect your hard work. The best measure fore fat lose is actually measurement. Get a tape measure and measure around your tummy (using your belly button as a guide) around your thighs and around your bottom. Do these measurements once a week this will give you a good indication of weather or not your exercises are working.

2. Fat burning stomach exercises? The basics; Sit ups, crunches, reverse crunches, side crunches, planks and bicycle legs. Start at 20 each of sit ups, crunches, reverse crunches, side crunches (20 each side) and bicycle legs (20 each leg) and 30 sec plank then work up progressively until you are doing. 100 of each and a 90 sec plank you will see a difference very quickly.

3. Thigh exercises. There exercises are for tights and gluts; lunges, squats, single leg squats, 90 degree hold on a wall. Again start off at about 20 of each and 30 sec wall hold and work up to 100 and 90 sec.

4. Lower leg fat? The above exercises will help with this but basically it is about running walking, hill sprints etc. also calf raises will help.

5. Calories. Ok here is where I want to try and get you to change your thinking. Instead of "how many calorie should I be eating" you should be asking "what foods should I be eating more of and what should I be eating less of to maintain a healthy weight?" My advice for losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight is as follows;

To drop the weight you need a protein rich carb limited diet. The reason for this is the bodies favourite source of energy is carbs which come from starchy foods such as potato and breads etc. If your body is not getting these carbs it will start burning fat to get its energy.

As I guide I normally say; Have one large meal a day consisting of 3 handfuls of veggies (leafy greens are best) not potato or sweet potato etc. If you can eat them raw even better. and a palm size piece of protein (meal). On top of that you want 1 smaller meal consisting of a piece of fruit and a salad. Then allow yourself 2 small snacks. Such as a handful of nuts or a health bar. To kick start your metabolism in the morning start the day with a glass of warm water with lemon juice, if you can't stomach that try green tea. I hope this information helps. If you need more information on diet and exercises email me at zrarmstrong@me.com and I will help you out.

  • If you exercise you will lose weight!

Best way to lose weight is Cardio (running, cycling, swimming), anything that makes you sweat.
If you have the time, it is best to exercise at least for 30min

I can't tell you exactly what burns what, because that depends on your genes, your body.
Someone will lose but fat, someone will lose stomach first. Usually the thing you want most gone, will be the last to go.
Everything will burn eventually something faster, something slower.

As for calories, I'm not a doctor, and a doctor should be the only one who can tell you that.

  • First off, don't stress about weight - it's easy to let yourself become obsessed with it. Best way to lose weight is to eat sensibly and be as physically active as possible - dull answer I know but there are no magic answers worth wasting your time with.

Once again, try not to keep weight-loss in perspective.

    Good luck!
  • 20 pounds = 70,000 calories.

Let's set the goal at 700 calories a day:

    1) Cut out 200 calories a day from your diet. This could mean substitution water for juice and soda, not using butter, and skipping the pasta and bread.

    2) Since walking a mile burns about 100 calories, walking five miles a day will take care of the other 500, for a total of 700 per day.

You will lose a pound a week, and it is so simple.
  • Hi, here is a simple way to do that;
Have some Special K at least once per day and have your fill of the many different types of Veggies salads out there at least twice per day. Alternate between Salad and Cereal as the mood arises and you should be on your way.

  • For crying out loud, do not try to lose weight very quickly. It can be very, very, very dangerous. Even surgery comes with risks. The best way to lose weight is proper diet and exercise. Eat less and get more cardio. It takes work, but it's worth it.
  • Diet pills are not good for you, they are bad news. They are bad for you. The only way to lose weight I exercise and moderate food intake.
  • To lose that fat and slim formula when consumed with warm water washes the extra fat from the body that makes you slim.
  • Losing the weight is no easy task, there are probably a number of reasons why you have trouble keeping yourself trim and healthy: not enough time to concentrate on a proper diet, food cravings, hunger pangs, lack of motivation– everything contributing to make you leave half-way in frustration. But diet pills can really help you to start anew and continue with your weight loss campaign.

But you should do well to remember that not all diet pills are safe (some can even be down rightly dangerous) and proven to clinically to help you lose weight. Don’t be disillusioned, for if you do a little research on your chosen diet pills by going through the reviews and testimonials, you may easily be able to find out some diet pills that might help you lose weight safely and naturally.

The temptation to start consuming just any type of diet pill is huge. Although you may lose weight with this approach, we suggest that the most effective way of losing weight is by using a combination of three methods. Diet pills can definitely work and show you how 2 lose weight fast, but their effectiveness is tremendously increased if you use it in conjunction with regular workout and a healthy diet.

How much weight lost if I eat 100 caloies a day?

I've managed to eat 150 calories today and burn off like 300 or something(but sometimes I can burn up to 600 or slightly more). How much weight will I lose a week if I continue to do this?
I'm 5'1 113lbs
I've been trying to do the math but it's pissing me the hell off and I can't figure it out. :/
Please don't tell me not to do this, it won't affect me. I'll obviously still do it to find out myself.
Thanks :)
Oh and I've heard about starvation mode but I don't believe when they say if you eat 100 calories every day and burn 300 you won't lose weight.

You will lose some maybe 5 to 10lbs. But as another user said eat 500 calories. That will give ya more energy as well. Hope this helps meg. Sorry for being rude to before that was wrong of me.

  • you're a top contributor in this section but you dont know how bad this is for you...?

when you eat so little calories, your body starts holding onto your stored fat and end up using your muscles as the source of energy. if you eat anything, your body will break that down and store it as fat. so in the end, you end up losing muscle and having more fat than when you started
  • Lol I eat 500 calories a day and I have people complaining on how it's bad, but that's not gonna stop me. Try to eat at least 500, 100 is very little. Drink lots of water though. But good luck(:
