How to set up a Weight Loss Pool with 15 people? Does it matter our start weight? ie:%body fat? Help W/Math?

So Im wondering...... what is the best way to do a weight loss pool? This is where we all chip in $10 or so and the winner (who loses the most) takes home the pot.I have started a weight loss group, and although we are in the obese category, more of us are medically considered to be "morbidly obese" which is fine because we are working on losing weight as a team, and together between all 15 of us have lost over 100lbs. So Im wondering, is FAIR for people of different weights to have an equal opportunity to win this? What if Sally weighs 300 and Jim weighs 400?Jims weight would fall off quicker than Sally's. So how would this fair? OR would I need to have 2 separate weight groups? Thanks for the help with the mathematics here =)

How to Lose Weight Taking Apple Cider Vinegar Pills

Recommended Answer:

One solution would be to measure percentage loss rather than absolute loss. ie if Jim lost 10lbs his percentage loss would be (10/400)*100 = 2.5%If Sally lost 8lbs her loss would be (8/300)*100 = 2.7% so she would win.

How to Lose Weight in Just 4 Weeks

Recommended Answer:

If I were you I wouldn't even bother looking at the kills, because you have to remember that you're going to be getting smaller, but you're burning all the fat and replacing it with muscle, which takes up less room for the same amount of weight. Keep doing what your doing and you'll see the results, don't worry so much about losing wait, instead worry about losing fat.

Other Answers:

  • u will lose it in 4-6 weeksif u keep at it...an eat right...drink green tea...
  • You will lose weight very quickly... To quickly. What you doing is very dangerous bumping up that quickly, and your diet of less then 2000 calories is dangerous as well. If you continue on this exercise kick you will get hurt. First slow down 3 miles a day will be good enough to slim down while lifting weights. Second your diet should be 2000 calories a day, with a focus on vegetables and protein, not less the 2000. Third check your weight, losing 2lbs a week should be the MOST you lose and stay healthy. More then that can be a cause for worry. If you do as I just told you, you should slim down at a good pace and safe.

How can I become healthy?

I''ve been eating a lot of junk lately and I''m putting on weight... I don''t wanna carry on like this. I want to lose the weight and be healthy. I have had a lot of problems lately which contributed to me bingeing on junk. For breakfast I have pecan and maple cereal or crumpets with a lot of butter. Really not a good start to the day. I know porridge is better in the morning so I''ve been having that for a few days. For lunch I just have a sandwich or something else. Mostly something unhealthy like Chinese food or McDonald''s. I work evenings so I don''t have dinner, I end up having chocolate, bakery stuff, microwave meals, etc which is really bad for me. I really need to change my ways, but I don''t know what exactly makes a very healthy lunch or dinner.

Can you give me some suggestions on what I can have that is good for me? I don''t want to eat junk anymore, I want to be healthy but I just don''t know what to eat. Please help?

Why Don''t I Lose Weight?

Recommended Answer:
Well if you want to be healthy diet isn''t the only thing you should be concerned about. Health is mental, physical and social.

But for the sake of your question let''s focus on the Physical. First off it seems like you''re not eating any vegetables or fruits. So that''s where you should start. Add more vegetables and fruits to your diet. If anything you should be eating more vegetables and fruits than anything else in your diet.

Add more protein and healthy fats to your diet. These help nourish your body and keep you going strong all day long, not to mention that they keep you full and prevent you from overeating.

Stay away from sugar and processed foods. That means no more take-out chinese, no more mcdonalds, no more sweetened cereals or chocolate. For your carbohydrates stick to veggies, fruits, and whole-grain.

Lastly, drink a lot of water. stay away from drinks with calories and sugar.

And that''s really all you need to do. good luck.

How to treat people who never gave you the light of day before you lost weight?

Most of the people in my high school go to my college, I went to school with them for 5 years, they never acknowledged my existence in high school or in college...except recently when I lost a lot weight. I was always nice to them, hoping they would be friendly back, but they weren''t, some of them even picked on me, which really scarred me.

They now say hello to me, and start conversation. I really dont want to be nice to them, it feels wrong to continue being nice to them. I have no idea how to treat them.

You will find fake people everywhere, unfortunately.
I understand what you''re saying with regard to not wanting to speak to old colleagues who were inconsiderate in the past. However, it will do you no good to hold onto bitterness and to be blatantly rude to them.
What you can do is ignore them especially in situations where you aren''t required to respond to them and generally just brush them off and show a lack of interest. If they stop to speak to you, say hi and give very vague responses and pull yourself out of their company as quick as you can by simply saying that you have to go or you''re busy. It''s hard to learn how to ignore especially when you''re a nice person and your immediate reaction is to be polite and friendly. Don''t make a big deal out of it, just focus on the positive people and don''t make time for those who bring negativity into your life.
Personally, I never add or talk to such persons on social networks either and I delete/block when I have to and I do not care what they think of me.

Congrats on the weight loss! No harm in feeling proud of your accomplishments (and the fact that people have noticed ;)). Keep it up! All the best.

  • Be nice to them, but don''t be friends. If your horrible to them your just as bad as they are! You''v seen them for what they really are and know your a better person. Walk away with a smile.

Is this a good cheat meal? Best answer 10 pts!?

I have a very clean diet. im very active, im in boxing, i weight train, and i do this program insanity. i lost 11 lbs so far. i want to lose about 9-13 more lbs. my goal is to get toned abs.Well at the end of the week i usually give myself one cheat day and tommarow i plan to have a movie night by myself and have a popcorn, 4 candy bars (2 recees, 2 poptarts, snickers, hersheys bar) Can i do this? I mean i did it last friday and went on to losing a good 3 lbs this week!

Easy Ways to Lose Weight and Burn Excess Fat Safely

Recommended Answer:
You can do it but it will slow down your progress. Keep this in mind: to maintain your body weight, you need 2000 calories a day. A pound of fat is 3500 calories. A safe weight loss plan has 1000-1500 calories a day. Your cheat day seems a bit excessive and you really don''t need to eat 2 reeses, 2 poptarts, snickers, hershey, and popcorn. Keep the popcorn (a movie must) the poptarts (has grains and some nutrients) and reeses (for the peanut butter), drop the hershey and snicker for another day.

Honestly, it all depends on what you want for when. If you''re like me and want abs as fast as possible, don''t do this. If you''re also easy to stop your diet (like me), don''t pig out because you''ll start craving it and won''t want to stop.

  • That''s a lot of sugar bro. Just go to mcdonalds.
  • theres not really a "good" cheat meal/day. it is what it is. it doesnt affect you that much so do what you want on your cheat days
  • i have a cheat day scheduled for most fridays

you should try to eat more meat instead of carboloading. carbohydrates turn straight to body fat

keep the chocholate avoid the poptarts replace it with some meat
  • I wouldn''t if u are doing insanity. Keep pushing hard.
  • Why so much? that''s just greedy and not even a cheat meal that''s just binging like hell and it''s highly unhealthy...I seriously do not recommend eating like that, your arteries will be clogged to hell eating like that, and you''ll gain weight back very fast....eat something much smaller.
  • I think that is a perfectly good cheat meal. It may not be the best thing for your body, but if you are only doing this once a week and still losing weight then go for it.

I also do insanity, and it really is a great program, and if you want to loosen up once a week and eat what you spend all week losing, it is up to you.

You may want to, every week you do this cheat meal, maybe cut down some of the unhealthy things you eat during this cheat meal. Until you get down to say 2 chocolate bars and a popcorn. If you are still losing weight and going to movies and having fun then keep going, just make sure you only do this once a week.

Six Simple Ways For You To Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
Your not overweight, you are at a good weight. Some people at 13 are 95 pounds and it's very bad because they are under weight. You still need 40-60 minutes of activity though so you can...

go for walk (Outside or treadmill)
Go swimming
Kick around a soccer ball or play soccer.

for everyday:
1. take deep breaths
2. start by 10-20 minutes of walking/jogging (outside or on treadmill or in one spot)
3. 10 crunches or sit ups
4. lunges
5. 20 push-ups (Don't force yourself to do lots. build your way up)

You can plan your own routine, do the routines about 5 days a week.

Avoid eating chips, pop (soda), ect. You can have them once and a while but not every day. Make sure your having a healthy breakfast. Get lot's of sleep, it's good to have 8-10 hours of sleep. Have nice long baths in the mornings on weekends, it will help you wake up and get your day going.

  • Do not drink soda.
  • Please don't try to lose weight! At your age, you are still developing muscle mass and you need to eat properly, and play hard to develop those new muscle cells. If you play some baseball or hockey and get lots of exercise, you will have an appetite in keeping with your body requirements. Just be a kid, and don't worry about weight yet! Please!
  • You are not overweight, but if you want to drop a few pounds try to cut out junk food like chips, cookies, etc. Try to eat some protein at each meal like peanut butter, meat, cheese, beans, etc. Apples are a good fruit which fills you up.
  • being that weight at your age is totally fine. your body is still growing so you will go through phases will you will weigh more at certain amount of times. if you eat a lot of candy and that stuff then stop eating that. if you eat alot of fast food, ice cream, sugary stuff that will make you gain weight. just do jumping jacks, and push ups. you don't want to push yourself too much because you're not even overweight as it is. good luck :-)

Switching up my gym routine?

I normally use the treadmill everyday for an hour and I'll usually walk fast on 3.5-3.7 without an incline and then run for 20-30 mins (depending on what my asthma lets me run) on 5.0 without an incline and then the last 20 minutes I'll walk again on 3.5-3.7.
After that I use the machines and do my own pilates moves in an area of the gym and leave. I'm thinking of switching it up this time though because I've been doing this same exact routine for a while now almost everyday and my body is probably really used to it so I want to switch it up.
So my question is..what should I do instead? Should I do 30 minutes on the treadmill, some weights, back on the treadmill then pilates? Should I do treadmill, weights, elliptical, pilates? I don't know, I only find the treadmill to be the most effective for my body compared to the elliptical or any other machine. I'll probably do this new routine for 10 days and then switch it back up to lose weight more effectively.
Can someone help me figure out a good routine or should I just stay with the one I'm on now?

Top Five Tips to Lose Weight

I always have so much trouble trying to come up with a routine and timing myself, or counting sets and reps so I find that it's easier to just do a workout video for exercise. I use p90x or insanity and I like both of them because the routines aren't the same. p90x you can pick what muscle groups you want to workout and insanity is split up by DVD's ( 60 days long) and the intensity increases each DVD. I like it because it takes like the least amount of time compared to going to the gym.I’m not a gym rat and my schedule is pretty tight so this was a good solution for me. You work out from home, so it cannot get more convenient than that. Could be an easy fix for wanting to switch up your routine!

How does a skinny guy gain weight and muscle mass?

So i just turned 20 on Christmas. im 5'11'' and have weighed 130 lbs since i was 13. i have a super fast metabolism and cannot for the life of me seem to gain ANY weight. I'm very self concious and cant stand myself everytime i look in the mirror. my overall goal is to get to 180-190 lbs, but if i could reach 160 i know i would feel much better about myself.
Is there anyone out there who knows how someone in my situation can put on a good amount of weight? preferably in a short amount of time...
NOTE: This IS NOT the same as an average build or obese person trying to build muscle. i DO workout, i DO eat well, and i also spend 8 hours a day doing heavy lifting at work. i can sit around all day and eat or workout all day and eat. my metabolism WILL NOT let me gain 1 lb.

Lose Weight As You Get Older - Ezine Articles

Recommanded Answer:
It seems that your main problem is that you are not eating enough. You could be eating well but simply not enough since you are lifting heavy at work for such prolonged periods of time. You need to fuel that with a lot of calories if not you will either stall or worse, lose weight in the process. If you are looking to gain weight, you will also need to spend a bit of time seeing if 8 hours of sleep is sufficient for you. When I was in the army, even 8 hours of sleep wasn't enough due to the highly intensive lifestyle I led then. Here are my suggestions on how to get your workout right, your diet to have enough calories to help you gain weight as well as how to sleep well.

In terms of diet, it is important to consider eating a high calorie diet filled with natural food. The foods you should eat more of are bread, pasta, potatoes, biscuits and rice. This will help give you energy to work on the pitch as well as give you the ability to gain weight by making your calorie intake higher than your output. You can also try adding milk into your diet to help you get the protein you need to help you to repair muscles which is the healthy way to gain and maintain weight. I would recommend starting out by drinking 500ml of milk 3 times each day if you are not lactose intolerant. Weigh yourself once every week and see if your weight increase, if not simply drink a 100ml more of milk each time. Once you spot a gain of 1-2 pounds, then it is time to hit the workout room and get proper rest.

The important thing to prime yourself up to gain muscle mass as weight is to sleep well. If you do not rest enough, your muscles and immune system will take a hit and make gaining weight even harder. Even though this may seem simple, it took me a while to get the hang of it and to apply it on a consistent basis. One test I would like you to try is to sleep and wake up by yourself on a day where you have no activities plan ahead. Take note of how many hours you need to sleep and keep repeating that daily in order to ensure that you gain the weight you need as well as keep your immune system strong so that you will not fall sick which will cause you to lose weight.

The last thing is to spot what workout fits you best. So far, I have found the workout at http://gohforth.com extremely good in terms of helping me and my clients to gain weight. I was able to consistently put on a pound a week without suffering much downtime. There were also months I can gain close to 5 pounds which is an extremely big motivation to spur me on to train, sleep and eat properly. Perhaps you could give it a try and see if it changed your life like it did for me.

  • Ur so lucky! Im 123 and 5'7, and i cannot eat ever!

Grrr. Go to a vitamin store, like GMC, or Vitamin World, and ask for help. Dont go to wal mart, or be cheap about it! Buy protien shakes, and vitamins that build muscle. Get a gym membership, and use it! Along with the vitamins, working out will quickly gain MUSCLE.
  • Start weight lifting and drinking that muscle powder stuff they sell in stores next to the granola bars. Make sure you increase the weight you lift gradually and try not to eat a ton of junk food.

  • Your a hard gainer like me, which means you will need to eat more calories than most. For me to pit on ANY muscle I HAVE to eat atleast 3,000 calories a day, sounds like your in the same boat which means you have to work twice as hard as guys who's genetics are better for muscle building. Not only hard work but eating right, like I said 3,000 calories is what I have to eat, no matter what. And they have to be good calories, not just junk! If you want more help email me at: ryancrow813@gmail.com also you'll have to commit to a good workout program!! Email me and I'll go more into depth of what you need, us hard gainers gotta help each other out!

Water fasting , I'm interested not motivated?

How much could I lose in 7 days of water fasting ?

Foods to Lose Weight Healthily

Recommanded Answer:
I agree. you might lose a few pounds but it slows down your metabolism & you'll be soo hungry that you'll eat more than usual & probably just gain even more weight back. you should try dieting low-carb. you can lose A LOT of weight that way, if you need to. however, if you don't want to really eat at all, you could always use the master cleanse aka lemonade diet. look it up online. I lost a good bit of weight when I went on it. you go on for at least 7-14 days (no more than 14). it's A LOT easier if you have a juicer cause you'll be juicing A LOT of lemons & I think you can use limes, too. either or.
either way, this is a lot better than just giving up eating because every time you feel hungry, you just drink more of the lemonade concoction...you can get the recipe for free online, if you don't buy the book. I'd buy all of the stuff, except for the lemons, that you need for the diet off of amazon (link below), though, cause they have these huge packages with everything you need in them, with great prices & it's cheaper that way.
still, good luck with whatever you decide! "D

  • Nothing that you won't gain back the minute you start eating again.

Forget this, it is a stupid way to try and lose weight.
  • Instead of water fasting, I recommend intermittent fasting. Keep yourself at a caloric deficit, but keep the calories within an 8 hour eating window, fast for 16 hours. You could also do a 24 hour fast once a week.

How does working out cause muscle growth?

I need to write a 2 page report on it so i need to know what working out does to cause muscles to be larger and stronger. (I would like links but you can just tell me if you are very descriptive)

Top Five Tips to Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
working out put stress on the muscle.
muscle fatigue takes place at certain moment.(muscle fibers are torn)
brain judges the situation and signals our gland to secret growth hormone to repair muscle.
secretion of hormone uses extra energy to regenerate new muscle fibers.
likewise muscle growth takes place as per the workout you make your body used too.
the body needs at least 6 months to get used to the weight of newly build muscles, so u need to workout and maintain diet for at least 6 months or body simply loses new muscles with time.

Thank you, and any other suggestions are appreciated.

Fastest Way to Lose Weight

Unfortunately, it's impossible to predict. It's like asking how much weight will I lose from my butt when I lose weight. However, breasts are 100% fat, so it's likely that you will lose *some* weight from there. But, I have lost 57lbs so far and haven't gone down even 1 cup size. You don't have much weight to lose, so I'm thinking as you get closer to 125-130, you should see some difference.

I can tell you that I know how hard it is to have big breasts as a teenager. You're doing the right thing by counting calories and eating healthier.

You could also join a free website called SparkTeens.com. It's a place where people who want to get healthier can get some guidance, but it's geared towards teenagers. You can connect with other teens trying to get healthier and see what's working for them. Good luck!

If I burn more than I eat how much weight lost?

I ate 200-250 calories today. I will burn off 700 from my workout. So I have a total of negative 450 calories to negative 500 calories today.
I am 5'1 113. Will this make me lose weight? If so how much?
Please don't say 'don't starve' or whatever. And please don't give me tips on eating more calories because I won't. I'm actually easing myself into a water fast so yeah. Just please answer the question!
Oh and if I eat 0 calories and burn 500-600, how much weight lost then?
Thanks so much! And just give me guesses please I know it's not entirely accurate.
