Will I lose weight by doing this?

I am 175 pounds, 15, a girl, and 5'6. I am trying to lose weight. My mom doesn't buy much fruits and vegetable, so I'm pretty much stuck eating pretty bad food. Like I'm not eating potato chips and ice cream all the time, but I'm still not eating good, like Cheerios and chicken a lot. I do eat fruit and vegetables, but not that often. I eat 1200 calories a day, and I've lost about 3 pounds in a month. Is what im doing alright? My mom just doesn't like to buy fruit because she says it always spoils. And if I don't go with her, she gets gross stuff. And I don't have time to always go with her. Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated(:
