I need to run better?

I'm a cross country runner, and I'm not that great. Neither are my times. And that's my problem! I need to start getting better times, and placing! I think my fastest 5k time was 28:02 (I know, I suck). I'm tired of being on the bottom! I'm on varsity this year and I don't want to be last, I don't want to suck! Plus my boyfriend wants to go to some of my meets, and I bet you know how embarrassing it is just to sweat in front of someone you like, so to sweat AND do terrible? I'd rather not! Please give me ways to help me run faster, better, anything! Please!

I'd suggest just running longer and more often to build up endurance. I also know running with a parachute or focusing on lower body weight training can improve your speed as well. Sometimes it's all a mindset when running - that's one of the hardest parts about cross country. Knowing you've practiced and worked hard away from the track can give you the confidence you need. And who cares if you sweat? Shows you're working hard and if someone doesn't like you because of it, it's just their loss. Hope this helped!

  • practise run 5k everyday or run everyday make a goal I use to suck then I made a goal to never stop running keep close to my fast friend and get in top ten or twenty and I do. make a goal to practise whenever u can or to run 5k in 25mins then 23mins then 20mins then 18mins until u reach a good fast goal.Goodluck hope I helped:)
