I'd suggest just running longer and more often to build up endurance. I also know running with a parachute or focusing on lower body weight training can improve your speed as well. Sometimes it's all a mindset when running - that's one of the hardest parts about cross country. Knowing you've practiced and worked hard away from the track can give you the confidence you need.
