Trying to watch my weight, gained 5 kilos this month but I LOVE cake. I want some but sugar is a key ingredient and I'm no chef. What can I put in it instead?Okay, what alternatives to flour and sugar can I use?

It's not worth the bother. Those fake ingredients taste awful. Just have some real cake in moderation.

  • You can use one of the sugar substitutes such as Splenda, but sugar is not the only ingredient that causes weight gain. Sugar is fat free, but it's not calorie free. Cakes also call for some type of fat such as oil or butter. Your best bet is to find a reduced calorie recipe.
  • The carbs from the white refined flour is going to convert directly into sugar by your body...I would go with unbleached flour and agave nectar.
  • sugar is NOT your major reason for gaining weight eating cake!! It is the flour!! you can use splenda for baking measure for measure! but that only cuts out a tiny bit of the carb grams of cake. A serving of cake is 1/12th of the whole cake. As a diabetic I have half a serving!! that is half the calories and half the carb grams! the american diabetes dessert cook book considers anything 35 to 50 grams of carb as suitable for diabetics, but they cut all the salt and fats out of the desserts. they use splenda instead of sugar. I do not see the difference between these nasty tasting things and real cake at the same grams of carbohydrate! So just eat half a serving of real cake with real icing!! Only do this once every other week! If you can't get rid of the real cake, make it and take your half serving and take the rest to a neighbor!
  • There is no substitute for sugar--not only does sugar make the cake sweet, it also reacts chemically with the other ingredients to produce...cake. You can sometimes substitute honey, mashed bananas, molasses or agave syrup in some recipes--but you aren't going to save any calories by doing so. Just make your cake with sugar the normal way--then cut it into small pieces and put each little piece in an individual zip-loc bag and FREEZE them--all but one. Eat that one, Freeze the rest--then you'll have them on hand and can eat ONE AT A TIME when you want cake--and you won't overdo it.
  • In most recipes, you can cut way back on sugar and still get acceptable results. If you cut back too much, however, your cake will be gross and then it's not even worth eating. I recommend cutting back by almost half. Skip the frosting in favor of whipped cream or a dusting of powdered sugar. If you bake the cake in a bundt pan it will be moist and good. Just give most of it away and enjoy a couple small slices.EDIT: you can substitute things like nut flours, coconut flour or even flours from other whole grains. There really is no substitute for sugar. No matter what, you have to use sugar or it won't turn into cake. Sure, you'll find recipes that don't require sugar, like that Weight Watchers thing that uses a cake mix and a can of Diet Coke, but guess what's in the cake mix? Sugar, flour and hydrogenated fats. You really are better off finding a decent scratch recipe and just having a small serving of good cake. You can try things like substituting the fat for applesauce or using coconut flour, but cake has calories. That's OK.
  • Substitute applesauce for water and egg and skip the sugar. it sounds weird but it will come out super moist and delicious. Otherwise you can try using a sugar substitute like Truvia, made from the stevia plant. Just remember that it's sweeter than sugar so you don't need as much.
  • I recently made a cake using 100% coconut sugar, bought at my local grocery store. I loved the taste of it, I do not know if you would like it but it definitely has a distinctive taste which added to the flavor (at least for me). The best part of this was that it is a 1=1 substitution so you do not end up using cups and cups and more cups of the stuff. As for the flour, I used the Gluten Free flour of King Arthur Flour.
  • Agave nectar. You don't need to use as much because it is sweeter than sugar. It also has a lower glycemic index so your body breaks it down differently than white sugar.
  • There isn't one for straight up substitutions. Artificial sweeteners taste horrible and are worse health wise than sugar. Honey, applesauce or molasses can be used in some recipes but you've got to adjust other things or they don't rise or have the wrong texture. There's no good sub for flour either. Ground nut meal can be used which is healthier, but it has the same or higher calories.eta: Listen to Christin K. Make the cake as usual, cut it into small portions and freeze them individually.

How can I focus on eating healthy? I always end up eating junk food?

Like 2 weeks ago, I told myself I was going to start eating healthy, and that day, I went to the grocery store, and I told my mom if I could buy healthy things. She said of course, so I bought some wheat pita bread, ham, swiss cheese, so I could make a sandwhiches of that(with lettuce and tomato which we had at home). I also got kiwi's and peach. But that's it! I don't know why, but I always don't know what to get that is healthy. I know what healthy food is, but I don't know, my head just gets empty at the store. and that feeling of wanting to eat healthy goes away after like 3 days. Then I start to eat like a use to and not drink a lot of water. Like a couple of hours ago, I made myself a greasy toasted sandwich, ate kettle cooked BBQ chips, and drank Pepsi. I felt guilty after that and like a fat blob.I'm 14(boy) and wanna lose weight.

How to Lose Weight Drastically

Recommended Answer:

Eat things that have lower calories and taste good! All Yoplait yogurts (and I'm sure some others) are only 90 calories and taste good! Just look for the amount of calories. Usually I'd say the norm is between 120 - 210 calories. Like let's say you want to eat a Pop Tart for breakfast, which is about 220 calories. Only eat 1 and save the other for the next day. That way, you're getting what you want and only half the calories. (Get the fruit flavored ones). Everything has a serving size. I know that a serving size of Doritos is 11 chips. I've started working out to get more fit, not necessarily to lose weight (I'm 17, 5"2, and 108lbs), and I've been trying to cut back on bad foods as well. It's not horrible to have them, just limit how much of it you have. And drink a lot of water as well! Also, you can't lose weight on only eating healthy alone. You should also start working out. I know it's tough, trust me. But in the end, it'll be so worth it! And that's what I tell myself as I'm working out. Good luck!I also ate kind of badly today, but I feel a lot better now having worked out and now I'm eating a Yogurt and drinking water. Even though I put not so good things into my body, it's still great when you do put good things into it afterwards :)

  • Healthy food doesn't have to be things like fruit and veg... Pretty much anything that isn't junk food and doesn't have too much fat or sugar! Just try to eat healthier in general, and don't be too hard on yourself or else you won't be able to sustain it!! Have a goal, eg after 1 month of healthy eating you can do something special too celebrate, this doesn't mean you can't eat anything unhealthy during that time! It's good to have something as a treat every now and then. Just make some simple changes in your diet and you'll be right! If you wanna lose weight you could go for a run each night, too. Good luck :)
  • Try to keep the junk food out of your house- it is hard when you live with your parents, but try to get them to either stop buying it, but it in smaller quantities, or at least keep it out of your sight. It's great that you bought health food! I would recommend starting out more gradually- adding some fruit, veggies and water into your daily eating, and cutting out junk food that makes you feel bad. Don't get rid of all junk food together- you will slip up and binge on it, something that happens to everyone from time to time. I ate poorly today too, and feel guilty about it, but what you shouldn't do is beat yourself up about it, or give up on healthy eating for the rest of the day. Drink some water, and when you feel hungry again, have a healthy snack.

How can I become lactose intolerant?

I'd like to lose some weight, but I really like ice cream. If I can become lactose intolerant though I'll just blast out any ice cream that I eat so I don't gain weight from it. I want to eat ice cream and blow more ass than a Tijuana stripper at a donkey show. How do you become lactose intolerant?

1.Make a hair mask using avocado (make sure its soft), one egg yolk (for protein) and honey. mix them all up and keep in your hair for 20minutes. 2.While in the shower, throw your head upside down for 30 seconds. this provides your hair with healthy blood flow, and quickens growth.3.A healthy diet, take vitamin supplements, drink plenty of water and exercise.and do not tie it into a pony tail, it stunts the growth!4.Massage your roots while in the shower. this helps circulate the blood.5.Use heat defence everyday!6.Use a deep conditioner twice a week.

Other Answers:

  • Well you have to get rid of any split ends. Stop using any straighteners or anything that applies heat to your hair. Use natural product instead of shampoo because shampoo strips away your natural oils. Go on a healthy diet. Do not over wash your hair.
  • You have to stay away from heat Try buying Tre Semme heat Protector .... take hair vitamins & oil your hair (Mainly the ends) & Google/YouTube other hairstyles that would help you stay away from flat irons depending on you hair type you can try going curly
  • First of all - STOP USING CHEMICALS and STRAIGHTNERSYour hair as u said is dry, thats coz ur follicles are not secreting enough sebum n its not reaching ur hair strands. -Massage Oil ur hair twice a week with coconut oil. (keep it overnight). This will give good blood circulation to ur scalp. -Give steam to ur oiled hair for the oil to penetrate ur scalp. (light steam only) -Use mild shampoos / herbal shampoos / home made shampoos (not everyday but 2-3 times a week). This will give ur scalp to produce enough natural sebum. - donot brush ur hair when wet. donot use blow dryers, this will make it more dry n frizzy. let it dry naturally. - avoid using hair colors, or anything artificial having chemicals. ur hair is damaged - give it some time to let it heal itself. - brush ur hair 2-3 times a day. This will allow ur natural hair secretion to spreadout to the hair strands. - Last but not the least - PROTEIN RICH DIET - milk, eggs, spinach, lots of fruit. n atleast some amount of oil in ur food.

How much weight can be lost eating just fruits and vegetables?

I'm a 15 year old girl, 5'4-5'5, 165 pounds. Now, before people assume I'm just a stupid girl wanting to drop pounds fast I actually want to do this to boost my health. I grew up being sick all the time and have already had to have my gall bladder removed in just the last few months. I honestly just want to be healthier and dropping a few pounds along the way doesn't sound too bad either. I've learned that for my height and build that my "ideal" weight is around 117 lbs and that number kind of scares me at the moment so i guess my goal would be around 130-140 and i can work up from there or stop, depending on how I feel about myself. I am an athlete and I play for almost 6 months out of the year, sometimes more, and when I'm not I manage my school's volleyball team which actually is more of a workout than you think. However, I already have a membership at my local gym and I plan to work out everyday after school, if possible, for at least an hour. I have an aunt who eats just fruits and vegetables and makes up for some of the protein she misses out on with protein shakes and vitamins. I have seriously never seen a more healthy woman in my life and she looks amazing for her age(Around 40). I dont really know what foods would be ideal for a lifestyle like this one (veggies that have protein etc) and I'm just looking for information. I dont have a time limit because i want this to be as healthy and natural as possible. So PLEASE refrain from being rude and telling me this is impossible because i personally know someone whos living this way. I'd really help if you could list foods or ways you think would work better. Thank you~

How to Lose Weight Without Getting Saggy Skin

Recommended Answer:

So i think your talking about a vegan diet if you just want to eat fruits and vegetables. A diet as such can be very healthy for you, but only if you do the diet correctly. You wont just drop weight from switching onto such a diet. If you exercise whilst on said diet, you will definitely be healthier and lost fat faster than if you eat meat and dairy. Switching will be difficult for the first week or two, but eventually, you don't even think about it and you will be back to normal (your body has to adjust to the change in diet). You will get less protein on a vegan or vegetarian diet but (assuming you do the diet correctly), it will be easy to get all your daily protein and more. You do not need to take supplements for anything (again, IF you do it correctly). Remember that this diet will not make you continuously lose weight, it will just prevent you from gaining lots of fat, raising cholesterol levels, and so forth. When going on a diet like this, remember that you will no longer get twice or three times your daily protein anymore (astonishing but you would be surprised how much extra protein meat gives you), so you will need to factor in that you are exercising to make sure that you get the proper amount of protein. I think you should see a nutritionist or dietitian about this, as the will often be the best source. Sometimes they may tell you its impossible to have no meat or whatever in your diet. I once went to a nutritionist years ago and they had no idea what they were talking about, they said i would lose weight non stop because i needed meat and dairy in my diet. Now its been 4 years since I've gone vegan and Im healthy (my parents were so worried they had me get blood tests to make sure lol. What your doing is fantastic.

the diffrence between laptops and pc well laptops you can carry about with you but only have around 2hrs of charge then have to be recharged with power adaptor to the mains plus if down loading have to stay on but then gotto keeep a eye the power does not run out a pc can be on 24/7 and can down load and if the pc is hard wired is a faster connection than a laptop thats even web serching downloading ect we have both 2 pcs and 2 laptops but i prefer pc any day but is your choice

Other Answers:

  • It really depends on what you want to accomplish with your device. From a technical perspective, the Desktop PC has the best specifications. The laptop is 'okay'... But not for gaming. And the Playstation... Well... Only gaming and some movies. Not so much for browsing or shopping online. If you are looking at the PS3's bluray, you can buy a separate bluray drive for your desktop. Around $50+.But if it were my choice, the Desktop PC looks best.

How should I attempt to lose weight?

Ok, so I am a large-framed seventeen year old girl who should weigh 160 pounds. The last time I weighed myself, I was 240, but, I have lost something around ten pounds since then. I have been avoiding eating any sugary snacks at all, sticking to diet soda and salty snacks to quench my thirst and hunger. I have been putting off dinner for as long as possible, eating dinner at about five to eight 'o clock each evening. I've been exercising every day for at LEAST forty minutes and sometimes up to two and a half hours -mostly pacing and dancing and things of that nature, very fast-paced. I have seen some fairly fast results, losing that ten or so pounds mentioned earlier, but, I want to have a second or third opinion. I've never really gone on a full-fledged diet before and I thought it would be good to simply ask if what I'm doing is effective. Also, as a side note, I've had weight problems my whole life as well as a perpetually low metabolism.

How to Lose Weight by Walking

I think you're on the right track. Good for you for trying to be healthy and lose weight.Make sure your diet includes lots of fruits and veggies. Many people feel tired whilst trying to lose weight, but the right foods will give you lots of energy. They will also provide you with many nutrients, helping your body to function, and make you feel full so you won't be so likely to snack or binge. Try to aim for 5 serving of fruits and veggies a day. Also make sure you get plenty of lean protein. Try to cut back on salty, sugary and fatty snacks.Your exercise regimen is good. It is important to do fun forms of activity, as you will likely continue them. If you can, I would try to incorporate some more intense cardiovascular activity, such as jogging or swimming laps. as it will be more effective at burning fat. I like to attend exercise classes because I find I can go much harder when someone else is pushing me rather than just myself! Also be sure to drink lots of water. Your doing a great job and I hope you reach your weight-loss goal!

Other Answers:

  • Don't drink diet soda first of all, any soda if possible. Diet is huge but everyone gets bored so maybe like once a week or so and gradually cutting back allow yourself a cheat day. Better than falling off the wagon and having to restart the diet. Exercise is the most important thing, keep doing it and get in a routine. Avoid excess carbs. Also eating late at night isn't particularly a good thing, ideally you should eat sooner and many smaller meals throughout the day. Breakfast should be your biggest meal with a variety of nutrients to help your body burn fat effectively throughout the day. Just google different work out routines and which muscles you want to work on and you should do well. You have the will thats the main thing, the next step is sticking with a routine, the the results will come to you. Good luck!PS: Diet pills and things you see on the TV should be avoided more than those diet sodas. Scams and placebos and nothing but.

Fast Ways to Lose Weight and Keep it Off Forever!

Recommended Answer:
You can''t. If you did, it''s water weight. You cant lose five pounds to be skinny, you have to have your mind on being HEALTHY there''s a difference. Much to your surprise, you actually have to eat to lose weight. Without the proper macromolecules, you wont have enough energy to function, making you lazier. At the same time, you cant eat oily foods. Think HEALTHY like Protein in eggs, and Sugar in fruits. Then get nutrients from vegetables and you''re a ok. Try staying at a 1500 or better 1200 calorie diet WITH proper nutrients.
If you want, you can do pilates, or Blogilates on youtube! My friend introduced me to it and it''s SUPER fun to work out with! It makes you feel healthy and makes you sore if you work. (If you''re sore after a work out, that means you''re still burning calories!)
You can lose about 10 pounds in a month and 1-2 in a week, excluding water weight. 5 pounds is unhealthy to lose in a week!

  • Use the AAA method: aids, amputation, abortion
  • When I ate 1000 calories a day I lost 3lb in the first 3 days and then 2lb in the next 4 days. So I would say 1000 calories per day with sufficient exercise :) hope this helps x
