How do I lose weight?

I'm 15 years old and I'm a girl. I weigh 140 pounds and I'm 5 foot 1. I have been playing football for about 6 weeks. We have some pretty intense workouts and we're on restricted diets, but I've gained weight. Yeah, yeah, muscle weighs more than fat, I know. I've gained muscle but where's all the fat going? Nowhere. How do I get rid of the fat?

okay, to get into shape , speed up your metabolism, rid yourself of excess fat and lose weight ,,,,,do as follows: Stop drinking & smoking (if you do this regularly) eat fruits & vegetables all you can (buy a slow cooker /food steamer & rice/pasta cooker to make it easy on you)...(vegetables might not seem "tasty", like junk foods,, but can be as you aquire your taste to them..and are loaded with energy and nutrients)...avoid all junk food, cokes, sweets, etc...and drink mainly water (green tea , juice & milk being the other options you drink). If you eat meat ,,use only steamed, baking or grilled methods for preparing fish or chicken. also, do an hour of walking each day at least. or some type of excercise. * you should lose about 10 lbs per month ** for a very quick, healthy "snack"..try eating French Vanilla or Natural Plain yogurt with honey mixed in with it..you can even add nuts to it. It is a famous thing to eat in Greece. ***also learn how to make "huumus" (look online for very easy recipe)..it fills you up and is very low in calories and is very tasty.

  • You can't spot reduce fat, so if you're looking at a certain part of your body like "Why is this fat still here?", you're pretty stupid. As for getting rid of fat, just do lots and lots of cardio.
  • First of all, you don't just lose FAT--you lose WEIGHT--that means that if you diet excessively or too drastically, you can lose muscle along with the fat. Cardio training causes this--it kicks up your metabolism very high WHILE you're doing it, but afterwards, your body does not retain that high level and actually conserves fat in your cells while resting. You're doing workouts now--and presumably, you're building muscle--which is good for you. Your metabolism will stay high all the time. Don't change anything just yet. Especially if you're working out hard right now. Adding cardio can actually slow down this process. And don't focus on the NUMBERS--at your height, your weight may be fine--it is more important to find out how much fat you actually have over all--by doing BMI measurements. You need between 21-26% of your total body weight to be in fat to be and STAY healthy and fit.

Why do people insist on spreading the myth that carbs make you fat?

Although the average caloric intake of the Chinese is higher than that of Americans (2640 vs. 2360 for adult males), and despite their smaller stature, the Chinese are much thinner than Americans. This may be attributed partially to the greater level of physical activity in rural China, but the evidence also suggests that it is explained partly by the composition of the diet. The mainstay of the Chinese diet is cereal grain. Carbohydrate intake accounts for 70% of the caloric intake in rural China compared to about 40% in the U.S. More importantly, only 15% of the calories consumed by rural Chinese men comes from fat, compared to almost 40% in the U.S. Although the total amount of protein is more or less comparable in these two populations, the source of the protein is very different: in the U.S. over 70% of the protein is derived from non-fish animal foods compared to only 7% in rural China.

(fat vs carb)So let's look more at the science. Glycemic load. Complex and simple carbohydrates. What's it all got to do with food? As I stated above, lentils are a staple on the Slow-Carb diet from 4HB. The diet bares a mocking resemblance to the Atkins diet, but with a few small changes. Lentils are an absolutely fantastic food for weight loss because they take too long and too much energy to digest. Even if a food is high in carbohydrates, if it is slow digesting, it will have a low glycemic load.Off the subject of lentils, let's think about what carbohydrates most Americans eat. Sugars and flour make up most cereals. McDonalds, KFC and Subway have lots of bread and potato. Pizzas and garlic bread. (bread + bread) Breakfast biscuits. blah blah blah. Most, if not all, carbohydrates consumed by the average american is a simple, easy to digest carbohydrate which results in blood sugar and insulin spikes. Greasy burgers. Greasy pastries. Greasy pizzas. It's all food which has been oiled up. Science shows that liquids will digest faster than solids. Therefore, oils will cause more weight gain than, say, pork fat, of which can be found abundantly in Chinese diets. That's basically all the fat they have.
