How many calories should a sedentary teenage girl take in daily to lose weight?

5'4"12216 years oldI have been trying to get back down to my healthier weight of 112 but havent been successful for a long time. Have you ever just felt completely defeated at times because something so seemingly simple ends up seeming impossible? That's what it keeps feeling like. And I fall to the wrong solutions too often: eating too few calories, fasting, eating just right then getting impatient and eating too few, then bingeing. It's very unhealthy. So, does anyone have the answer for my title question? I am sick of wasting away all this effort and just want to be healthy. Thanks!Oh and I am a vegan, am too busy with yearbook and other school stuff to want to squeeze in exercise. It is what it is, some people aren't a lick interested in working out. I'm a low key, chill kind of person. I am always reading, doing my artwork, doing yearbook (ALWAYS busy with that) and other IB school stuff, so relaxation is my best friend- and working out has always been out of the question. So, calorie wise --whats the intake to lose weight?---sorry, I'm very wordy---

How to Lose Weight Without Diet Pills

Recommended Answer:

Personally I think your 122 is pretty normal. If you want to get it down, you really have to just diet properly and start exercising. And I don't mean exercising for 1 month to lose weight and then never doing it again... this would be pointless wouldn't it? Permanent lifestyle changes are important.Eat only lean white meats and green veggies. You can have a few fruits during the day too, that's completely ok. Do no drink anything fattier than skim milk. No orange juice, soda, etc. Only water during the day.You don't mention exercise at all, so like i said before; start exercising. Many young girls do not have this concept of working out and exercising and they end up having to starve themselves or go on crazy low calorie diets to lose weight. This isn't the healthy way to do it. Go jogging, ride a bicycle, or walk on the treadmill/elliptical for 30 mins a day. You will def. get down to 112.Good luck! Work hard, be dedicated and make it your goal. Forget facebook, twitter, all that useless garbage and think about your own being. Focus on your goals and make them happen step by step, day by day.

  • the recommended amount of calories that a person should consume in a day is 3500 calories and 30 grams of fat. In order to lose weight you'll need to cut back to 1500 calories and 15 grams of fat. this is the safest reduction in calorie and fat grams that's recommended. Another great way to lose some pounds is to cut back on the amount of sugar you eat everyday. By not drinking sodas you could ten pounds in a year easily.
  • Omg I'm 16 too! I have lost 40 pounds last year so I know what you're going through. I think you should consume 1200 calories a day to lose weight. You should also divide your meals throughout the day and watch your portion size. Good luck!

How to Burn Body Fat and Lose Weight

Eat healthy and exercise, cut out soda and junk food. Eat plenty of veggies. Get your friends involved in your workouts, you can talk and have fun while exercising. Makes it feel less like work. Also, to those who are complaining about a young girl being on birth control. Birth control also helps regulate periods, I took it around that age for that reason when I was younger, it could be her reason too. Educate yourselves before you talk badly.

  • You won't loose 20lbs. Even if you did you'd have to stay on that diet to maintain it.Why the fuck are you on birthcontrol at 14 anyway?

  • It sounds like it wouldn't be too skinny. Don't lose the weight in an unhealthy way.Congratulations on your progress!
  • No, it won't be healthy. Best to stay at your current weight. If you hit 100 pounds, you're gonna be super skinny and unhealthy looking.
  • You're only 13 so i guess thats alright but if i was a girl i would start gaining weight once i get 15 because 100 lbs can be unattractive you should stay at 110 and get to 125 when you grow more which you will but you can do whatever u want
  • Hun your 13 and weigh 116. I'd stop there. You are in the perfect weight. That's really healthy. I am 15 and weigh 85.5 don't try to lose weight. It is not healthy. Stop where you are. Your fine. Don't become to skinny. Don't ruin your life.
  • Forget the exercise. Just drink cabbage juice. Cabbage juice is really delicious once you get used to it. You will fart a lot and may lose friends but you will be thin and beautiful, when I was on the diet I had gas all day long, my grandmother told me my house smells like she was back in Poland. Cabbage is very healthy, you can also drink sauerkraut juice as it's even better for you because it has probiotics. If you juice your cabbage make sure you drink it within 5 minutes as it loses it's power. 6-8 glasses a day. I also suggest wearing a panty shield but on your butt side or an adult diaper as it may cause a bit of anal leakage till you get used to it.My friends have lost 15 lbs in a week on this diet. It's very healthy and gives you great skin and hair-(just look at mine!) . Also prevent cancer and detoxes your body. You will be as clean as a whistle inside.

How can I schedule my days?

Hello. I am 21 years old and only 5''0 tall. I am not sure of my weight but last time I checked (which was sometime last year, I was between 86 - 91 lbs. I''ve been living a very unhealthy life. I usually sleep between the hours of 1 AM - 4 AM or even later than that but never after 8 AM no matter if I am going to school or not. I also have classes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting at 8 AM - 9 AM and another class at 10 AM to 11 AM. I prefer to do my homework at night because during the day, many things distract me (like other people being awake, the t.v. being on, music being played, etc.) so I usually go to sleep when I get home after classes, wake up around the hours of 4 PM - 6 PM, eat and watch t.v. (I am a really slow eater and it''s so bad that I actually hate eating most of the time) for an hour or so. It is usually between the hours of 7 PM - 9 PM when I am finish eating and finished cleaning the table. After this, I use the laptop, having free time for a while then doing my homework. When I am done with my homework, around the hours of 12 AM - 2 AM, (or before 1 AM if I have classes soon) I just lay in bed using my cell phone. This is almost literally my schedule every single day. I want to add exercise to my schedule because I''ve been told that exercise helps build muscle and would help me gain weight and also boost my appetite. The only form of exercise I do is walking and riding the bike. I''d prefer not to go to the gym only because I don''t have anyone to go with. Also, what foods should I eat to be healthy and gain weight? Most of the food here in the house, I don''t like so I end up looking for food but never find anything I want to eat. What should I do about my life?

Special Foods to Eat to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
The first step is that you know you''re being unhealthy. I would recommend cutting out your nap and using that time to exercise instead. Then, turn off your cell phone at midnight and go to sleep then. You''re not going to be missing anything important at that hour anyway. If you can sleep from 12am-7am, that''s a start in the right direction. Getting enough sleep is important for so many reasons and little naps throughout the day aren''t as good for you as one long night''s sleep. You''ll feel better during the day and have more energy.

A good way to gain weight is to eat food high in healthy fats such as nuts, peanuts, seeds, peanut butter, almond butter, avocados, hummus, and oils, which are great sources of healthy fats loaded with nutrients and calories.

Don''t eat anything that is low cal or fat free or light. Eat full fat everything. Try comfort foods like mashed potatoes with butter or macaroni and cheese. Drink high-calorie juices instead of water and choose high-calorie condiments such as mayonnaise, ranch, thousand island, and Caesar salad dressings. Dried fruits are a concentrated source of calories that can be tossed on salads, yogurts, cereals, desserts, and trail mixes -- or eaten alone.

Eat more frequently and that will help you get hungrier more often too. Exercise will definitely help you work up an appetite. Just like it''s not easy to lose weight, it''s not that easy to gain it either for those who are underweight like yourself. It may take time to work your way into this new schedule, but I bet you will feel a lot better overall. Good luck!

Army rangers question?

I have been thinking about joining the army.
Really interested in trying out for ranger school. Not exactly sure how it works, but do you sign up for the military and be able to try out for it, or do you have to already be in the army for a certain amount of time before you can try for it.
I have been working out for a while now, and I wont sign up until I am physically ready for it. What are some ways I can prepare myself physically before signing up? I''m new to this idea so still trying to think of what I should prepare for.

Also, I am only a greencard holder, not a citizen yet. Will that be a problem?
Thanks in advance everybody!

Lose Weight the Right Way and Keep it Off

Recommended Answer:
First of all your physical preparations are way too far out for anything you''ll be able to benefit from in Ranger school. I went into the Army in the best shape of my life but with the way BCT is structured now you hardly get to run and the workouts are a joke. Top that off with the fact that kids have gone soft and file complaints every time they get smoked and you create an environment where those who go in great shape end up coming out in average shape at best. That being said don''t slack on PT before going in. Your best way in would be to go in beast shape, blow the PT tests out of the water and show the Drills you aren''t a S%#tbag and be offered a chance to go to RASP. In that case if you pass and do well afterwards you''d definitely be able to go to Ranger school at either PFC or SPC.

If you don''t get a chance to go through RASP you will proceed from BCT to your unit and when you "go" to Ranger school (if you go at all) will be determined by your unit. They pick who they send and when they send them so you will have little control over this. All you can do is work hard and try your best while expressing your interest in going and hope that someone cares enough about your career to take the time and set you up with a slot for Ranger school. As I said before there is no set timeline for this so its impossible to give you an answer. Could be a few months, could be never.

Final route is become an officer (not going to list all the ways to do that you can read somewhere else) and go Infantry as your branch. After IBOLC if you pass everything that is required of you, you will 100% get a chance to go. You also won''t have to complete a pre-ranger course although IBOLC is sort of a pre-ranger course in and of itself.

Can''t answer your greencard question but I believe you can obtain citizenship through joining the Army... don''t hold me to that.

Also to that garbage above by some of these bro''s who aren''t Rangers. Rope climbing? Really? If you can''t climb a rope already don''t even bother trying to be a Ranger. As for swimming if you are a decent swimmer you will be fine the swim test is a joke and is more about conquering your fear of heights if you have one. Honestly the run to and from the pond is harder than the swim test especially if you put all your junk in a trash bag. (You''ll see when you get there what I mean) I''m sure these other guys would tell you if they''d gone to Ranger school but they either haven''t or probably failed in the first week. As for weight training I lift weights 6 times a week. While sure this might not help with what I did in Ranger school you need to remember the Rangers are a fraternity. Do you want some yoked guy joining your fraternity or Baby arms McGee? See my point... Either way you will come out looking like a starving child. I personally lost 30 pounds (205 to 175) but it comes back quick.

Finally you don''t try out for Ranger school unless I was just too awesome and missed the sign for "Ranger School Tryouts". As I said before you have to express interest and prove yourself then your unit sends you. Not oh hey lets send everybody who wants to go to survival island to fight to the death. Winner goes to Ranger school. Although I might have just thought of a great idea. At best you''ll be competing with guys from your immediate unit who want to go but its usually not an issue because either not that many people want to go or not that many people want to do the work to send their soldiers.

....I keep reading more of these responses and finding garbage so here comes some more

You do not need to be Airborne qualified to go to Ranger. In fact if you can avoid it do so and go to Airborne after. It will be one less thing to worry about getting injured doing, especially considering the fact Florida''s drop zone was as hard as pavement and covered in thorn bushes.

Also to Mr. Full Battle Rattle up there who probably doesnt even know what that means, thats a terrible idea. Save your knees as much as possible before and especially your back. You can ruck to prepare but don''t go killing yourself because Ranger school is a grind and it all adds up.

Finally I believe the last point I need to respond to is that they have programs to get you ready? Are you kidding me guy? They expect you even in pre ranger to be fully ready and capable to go. They don''t get you in shape they give you a gut check and then make sure you aren''t mentally challenged and aren''t wasting the time of 4th 5th or 6th RTB. You better show up in shape to pass Ranger school to the pre-Ranger course or I promise you won''t make it through...as you shouldn''t if thats what you really try to pull.

  • You can ask you''re recruiter about ranger school and have him find ways to get you into ranger school after basics or whatever time he can get you. You don''t have to be in the army for a certain time to be allowed into the course. There are a lot of 2nd Lt.''s and Privates who go. You also don''t have to wait to be physically ready. Usually, you are sent to preparation programs and are given time to prepare with other soldiers and instructors who will prepare you. Its best to just join anyways cause'' there are many workouts in the military that can help you. Workouts like putting on full battle rattle and walking or running with your buddies on a path that goes around base. Also, there are requirements like going to airborne school (I think) and other stuff.

Being a green card holder is fine cause the military helps you get citizenship.
  • It isn''t a problem that you are just a greencarder holder, as you can join the Rangers with the green card aswell.
Firstly, you have to be an Army Corp before signing up for Ranger School. You need to get through Basic Training, ofc before that, take the ASVAB. After getting your Basic Training you will be named a fully graded soldier of the U.S Army. The most important thing is that you have to apply for the "Army", not the Navy or others, because Rangers are the best light infantry forces in the world, and they are recruiting only from the Army.
Also try to score the best marks at your APFT and others, because Rangers don''t accept every Army Man who applied for the Ranger School.

For your preparations(Fitness Trainings), make a schedule. This schedule must be an priority for you and you should respect it. Make push-ups, sit-ups etc. as you''ll need a great resistance. Start swimming, and swim not occasionally, but everyday if you can.
Go and start rope climbing because this is another main task you''ll meet. Also go at the gym and start lifting weights, but don''t get too shaped because this won''t help you, it will just make your trainings harder.

Well this is what I will start doing from this summer, hope this helps bud'', and wish you luck!:)
  • Ranger School is an Advanced Combat Leadership school. You can NOT enlist for it and you can NOT do it out of basic unless you are one of the very very few 11x OSUT soldiers that get selected to go.
