Which is safer? Adderall or ephedrine?

Please only answer the question at hand, lectures will be ignored.

I've been suffering with EDNOS for 3 years, and have major binge/purge tendencies. I find I cannot restrict my eating, I either eat nothing, which I find myself able to do for up to 5 days, or I eat everything in sight and then purge. I overeat even if I have not been starving beforehand and am not hungry, so it is not due to hunger. I am of normal weight (female, 6'0 tall, around 145 lbs although this varies depending on my eating, or lack of).

I find the only way I have been able to eat normally is by taking adderall or ephedrine and then planning my meals. I have done my absolute best over the previous years to follow healthy eating plans, but without the use of either of these drugs, I simply haven't found the willpower. Something in my head just takes over me.

Obviously I do not want to become dependent on drugs, so I simply want to take one or the other for a few weeks to try and break my eating habits. However, I want to know, if there is a difference, which one is safer in terms of likelihood of addiction and damage to the body? (I don't think I could do much more damage to my body with these drugs than I have with my eating - I have lost my period, find myself weak and feel faint most of the time, my muscle tone has become incredibly weak, I find myself unable to concentrate, have become very depressed, etc)

Please no suggestions about going into treatment. I am an A* grade A level student with hopes of going to Oxford and do not feel as if I can afford to disrupt my studies. Thank you.
I am not attempting to brag about my 'credentials', I am simply explaining why I do not feel that going into treatment is an option.

You may be an "A" level student with hopes of getting into Oxford, but you obviously have not caught on to the facts that:
a. You are attempting to trade one body-damaging addiction for another
b. You are not going to be able to break the cycle of addiction without professional help. Eating disorders are notoriously difficult to treat with professional help, much less trying to go it alone by self-medicating.

Sorry if you interpret advice that you are seeking as a lecture, but I don't see the point of answering "either/or" questions that give me a choice between "should I kill myself with a bullet or by hanging" as serving any purpose either.

How to Lose Weight and Keep it Off - Don't Read This If You Aren't Serious About Losing Weight

Eat lots of food, than train for reps of 5-8 than diet and eat clean

  • Weight training would be best, muscle weighs more than fat so the more fat you loose from weight lifting, the more weight you gain from muscle, win win for you.
  • Check out this great product:

  • That is right. But you can check on the link below to know other ways.
  • If you are looking to gain 15-20 pounds, I suggest you look into sleeping well, doing the right workout while you are in the gym and eating an even higher calorie diet to help you to put on the weight you need. I would suggest going on a high carbohydrate when it comes to diet to help you gain lean muscle mass that will help you on the pitch.

I would suggest eating a high calorie diet instead of one filled with fat is because your body only requires a certain amount of fat which you can possibly get from the excess calories from your carbohydrate. I also do not suggest so much protein as a fuel source as it leaves behind nitrates which can be put your kidneys and liver under unnecessary stress. I would suggest eating things like potatoes, biscuits, pasta, noodles, rice and bread in order to get the high calorie diet from carbohydrates. If fixing 6 meals up can be a problem due to the lack of time or if you are looking for something more convenient, I would suggest looking to drink 500ml of milk in between your meal for a total of 3 times a day. Increase the amount of milk you drink by 100ml for each serving every week if you realize that you do not gain weight after a week of effort.

The next thing to get right is definitely sleep even before exercise. This is because even if you have the best workout and you get improper rest or insufficient amount of it, chances are this will cause you to lose weight and fall sick. One particular fact most people do not get right is definitely quality. Quality sleep means you need to sleep and wake up all by yourself. This can be difficult but I will still encourage you to do it on the weekend if possible and sleep the scheduled amount of hours on the weekdays when you are busy.

The workout is the main trigger to help you gain weight. This is done by using the workout at http://gohforth.com which I have seen many of my clients used and see effective results. The result of gaining 1 pound every week is quite possible as this workout will help you to trigger major muscles and help with progressive weight gain with little to no down time.
  • Approximately 28% and it won't matter on the size of engine either
  • yes unless you work harder

Is 1200 calories too little of an amount for an active 14 year old?

To start off, I am not looking for sympathy just an answer. I am a active 14 year old who does track everyday after school, and weight training on the weekend, I am 5 feet and 3.25 inches exactly lol and about 106-107 lbs. Currently I have decreased my calorie intake so I could lose a bit of weight since I gained about 5 lbs after my sports season ended. I am starting to become concerned with myself, yet unsure whether or not I am eating too little? Also for some reason I am not even losing weight and every day my weight fluctuates between 110-105? I am really curious to what is going on, please help/answer if you can, thanks x

Lose Weight Fast - How NOT to Lose Weight Fast!

Recommended Answer:
5 lbs weight fluctuations are common based on water retention, time of day weighed, etc. I ran your height, weight and activity level through a diet calculator and the range you're eating is roughly 100 calories below what they recommend for extreme fat loss. It would seem to me that you don't need extreme fat loss because you're already fairly lean. Also with your activity level, it's important to eat enough or light headedness, dizziness and fainting could occur.

  • Yes very low your body will go into starvation mode. Eat 1500 ! I guarantee you will lose more weight if you eat more
  • I would say at least 2000 calories per day and get your body weight up to about 125-130ish. Eat a lot of protein so you don't just gain pure fat
  • You need AT LEAST 2000 calories, girls are different, but still around 2000. If you are active you need 2000 at the least. Instead of cutting calories you can watch what you eat like fastfood, junkfood, etc.
  • I think 1500 is the most calories you should eat.. That's what I suggest
  • that is a starving amount. if you exercise daily, you are burning calories. i'd say around 2500 cals

How to Lose Weight "Naturally" (I guess)?

How To Lose Weight Fast and Safely

I went from 240lb to 160lb and then was ripped as hell! You need to skip rope! Seriously! Once you've mastered how to skip it without tripping up which isn't that hard but no ones perfect lol. Everyday 5 to 7 days a week do about 20 mins of rope skipping and remember you only need to jump a tiny bit of the ground! Only a tiny bit not real high so don't worry. And in about 20 mins of skipping rope that's 1 min of rest every 5 mins. You lose 700 calories in total I went from 240lb to 160lb in 2 months :) eat less and load up on vegetables! If u can't skip rope then do the crosstrainer or tredmill and in about 2 months u will see a life changing difference :) but remember! If its not intense and u don't sweat sh1t loads then you won't lose weight! Needs to be intense :) this is all true no BS. I know I've helped, have a nice day bro :)

  • Aww the best thing to do is run and eat mostly fruits and veggies
  • get a personal trainer
  • It's very simple. Start measuring your portions. For instance: 1 cup of Brown RIce Pasta-cooked (or whole grain pasta) is 1 serving size. 1/2 cup of tomato sauce.
1 cup of Whole Grain Cereal topped with strawberries or 1/2 cup of blueberries...is one serving
1 cup of Brown Rice-cooked is a serving size.
Salads, 3 egg, eggwhite omelettes with shredded cheese, or a sandwich on whole grain bread with turkey. lettuce, tomato, and mustard....
Water in place of juice or soda...for dinner 1 piece of protein, 1 cup of whole grain starch or 1/2 sweet potato, and 1 cup of veggies of your choice.
This will help you drop pounds in no time.
  • try to walk everywhere you go
walk to school, to the mall, to friends houses
it will help you lose weight faster
and stop drinking any soda, including diet
no white, no sugar, no flour, no pasta, no bread
    eat protein more
  • Hoe, Step Back! Far back!
Turn on music and dance like wild. Let your hair down once in a while. Go back to the days of wild childhood. Close the door of your room, turn on your sound system to the highest volume possible (but a little lower than the level at which your neighbors start to complain) and then do the wackiest dance that you can think of. Jump on your bed and jump off it again. Roll all over the floor. Pretend that you are Michael Jackson or Madonna (you will never see them keeping still) and do ever boogie move that you know.
  • Pare your portions. Whether you eat at home or in a restaurant, immediately remove one-third of the food on your plate. Arguably the worst food trend of the past few decades has been the explosion in portion sizes on dinner plates (and breakfast and lunch plates). We eat far, far more today than our bodies need. Studies find that if you serve people more food, they’ll eat more food, regardless of their hunger level. The converse is also true: Serve
yourself less and you’ll eat less.

What is the best way for a teenage girl to lose weight?

I'm 16 years old, about 125 lbs, 5'7", and like every girl on the planet, I would like to be skinny.
I was a very competitive dancer from ages 6 to 15. I hit puberty about the same time that I quit dance and it hit me hard. I used to do about 26 hours of dance a week and now I do about 5.
Dancers are known for having very strong and muscular thighs, which is what I have. On top of that I had a six pack, which is now gone. So mostly my problem areas are my little pooch of a tummy, no thigh gap whatsoever, and love handles.
I do not overeat but I don't necessarily eat healthy foods either. My diet consists of Starbucks chai tea and a breakfast sandwich every morning, usually not eating at lunch but snacking throughout school, then around 3 when I come home I'll snack, then at 7 I will have dinner with my family.
I have terrible knees which is why I was forced to quit dancing and cannot go for a run or go on the treadmill either.
I am not the kind of girl that is obsessed with her weight or anything either. I am very confident in my body, but would like to lose these stupid love handles for summer!
Please give me links or just describe things that I could do to lose love handles, get a thigh gap, and get a flat tummy.

Please don't tell me to stop getting starbucks because that problem could be solved by me slapping you....and no, I will continue to have my tea.

Any suggestions help! Thanks so much!

  • Eat less food than your body will use. Maybe, cut the amount of snacks in half. You shouldn't be eating in class anyway.
  • Core: 100 crunches a day.. 50 in the afternoon, & 50 at night before a shower. I'm not so sure about your love handles or your thigh gap... sorry. That's all I know. You could take a look on Pinterest, great ways to lose alot of non needed fat.

Rapid Weight Loss Sucks - Why Losing Weight Fast Doesn't Work and What You Can Do About It

Recommended Answer:
It's good to serve a well balanced dinner so you don't feel as guilty eating snack foods throughout the night, even though they will be healthier ones that you previously served at the sleepovers. Having a good dinner will also decrease your appetite, and you won't feel the need to eat food all night long. Rather you will enjoy each other's company and maybe have a group work out session!

For dinner, include as many food groups as possible. Here are some possible meal ideas:
1. Make it Italian themed. Serve whole wheat spaghetti with either tomato sauce or a butter, garlic, and parmesan cheese sauce. Grill chicken or pork cutlets to put on top off the pasta. Have a side salad or roasted vegetables with garlic and olive oil. Broccoli, asparagus, and cauliflower are my favorite roasted vegetables. Also serve a fruit salad for dessert instead of sugary treats. It will still satisfy your sweet tooth without a lot of extra calories.
2. You could also try to have a comfort dinner but with a healthy twist. Serve turkey meatloaf instead of meatloaf made with greasy ground burger. Have a side dish of whole grain macaroni and cheese (made with low fat cheese and milk.) You could also serve baked sweet potatoes instead of the pasta. They are more nutritious than regular potatoes too. A canned vegetable such as peas or red beets is a good vegetable component.
3. One other idea would be to serve a meatless dinner which is the epitome of healthy for some people. Toss boiled ravioli or tortellini with butter, garlic, lemon-pepper seasoning, and parmesan cheese for a quick coating. You can mix in a little low fat cream cheese and milk for a creamy sauce that resembles alfredo without all the calories. Toss in some fresh spinach and diced tomatoes for your vegetable component. Broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower are all good choices as well. It's a one pot dinner that couldn't be easier to throw together. It's simple, uses normal ingredients, and everyone is sure to love it!

For your evening snacks, you can still have your favorite foods but try to make small changes that will cut back on some calories. Here are some examples:

chips/pretzels --> choose baked chips with low sodium (tortilla chips are really good) and whole grain pretzels
dips --> if they are cheese dips, make them with low fat ingredients; salsa or hummus makes a great dip too (consider a vegetable tray with low fat ranch dressing instead of chips and dip)
popcorn --> get the lightly buttered popcorn with low sodium; sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top to satisfy sweet tooth
candy --> choose gummy candy over chocolate as the calorie count is lower
brownies/cakes --> make dessert bars with fresh fruit instead such as apple crisp or strudel bites

  • Hummus, veggie dip, salad, quinoa, tofu, fish, grilled chicken breast, etc. There really are TONS of options.
  • Get a veggie tray/fruit tray and some granola & trail mix & all-fruit smoothies. Yum. I would also say veggie dogs but vegan buns are hard to find. There are some vegan breads out there however.
