Hi- For the past month I did a 1600 calorie diet, not eating back my exercise calories, and I didn't see any improvement. I posted on calorie count, where I track my cals, and it was pointed out for my height and weight (5'11", 152 lbs) I'm not eating enough and I probably slowed my metabolism down. the suggestion was to start eating more.Well, for the past 4 days I've been eating around 2000 calories and exercising, and I've definitely gained 4 lbs.I eat very healthy, but this is really frustrating me. How many more days of this is it going to take to 'fix my metabolism'? Could I just go to 1800 calories, which is what I should eat to lose weight and wait for my metabolism to catch up?Any advice is really greatly appreciated...thanks :)

Your body has evolved so that when it doesn't get enough calories it goes into starvation mode and tries to retain as many as possible. I have never taken Alli. Some of the side-effects I''d read about, to me, just weren''t worth it to even try it. I haven''t taken anything to help with weight loss except chromium picolate. In all honesty, the best kick start to a diet is to kick the food and eating habits to the curb that helped you gain the weight, and pick up sensible eating habits and sensible exercise habits. 30 lbs in a year is a good bit to have gained, make sure you speak to your doctor. Unless you just really decided to feast last year and not exercise at all, gaining that kind of weight can be a sign of a problem...anything from depression to a metabolic or thyroid issue. Just mentioning that because if there''s an underlying issue such as that, losing weight can be nearly impossible until the underlying problem is resolved. Although, with depression not caused by metabolic or thyroid problem, losing weight can be very possible if you can get and maintain motivation, and with the weight loss, many times comes relief of the depression.
