How to Set Weight Loss Goals

Recommended Answer:

Heey, kid. Look, before I start this, just know that I'm not being one of those people who go on and on about 'oh, that's way too unhealthy' or 'you'd die doing that.' Trust me. I've been struggling with weight loss for years, and those people annoy me too. I'm not exactly the pinnacle of healthy weight loss anyways. But seriously, it's extremely doubtful that you could do this. In a month, anyways. You'd literally have to have the absolute minimum calories every single day, as well as exercise a whole heap. And you'd inevitably give in one day, binge on all the food because you're so hungry, and gain back any progress you'd made. Trust me. I've been there.Try take it slow. I know it's frustrating, geeze, but it'll end up with better results. I'm not saying go ridiculously slow or anything, but just..lower your expectations.Alsoo, I reckon getting down to 40 kilos is too low. Try going to 45kilos. That's about where I'm headed, and you're the same height as me too, and close to my age.Aaaas for actually doing it - You're gonna need to start drinking a fair amount of water. Forget any other drinks, water's where it's at now. No empty calories, and it helps flush your system out. Try and minimize the amount of white carbs you have, and if you can, eliminate chocolate and sweets, and junk food in general. You're gonna wanna exercise a fair amount - try swimming and running, but you need to include strength exercises in your workouts as well. More muscle means more fat burning - though keep in mind that muscle does weigh more than fat. Also, I've read recently that spinning in circles like a little kid helps with weight loss, as does taking short cold showers. I'm going to link to the article I read that in in the source bit below. There's some other tips in there that are great as well.Sorry for the long answer, but I hope that helps a bit. :) It's not often my years of googling get put to the test. xD Also, feel free to email me if you want any more advice or anything - sephyxoxo@gmail.com

  • I had to lose 20 pounds before my daughter's wedding, had to. I was dieting, exercising and still nothing helped. I read about Raspberry Ketone Premium, and that was the magic bullet I needed. I got down to the size I wanted and was proud to stand at my daughter's side with all our family and friends watching.

Scared of going under for surgery, help?

I'm 18 and graduated about a month ago. My weight is 150 kg ( 330 lbs ), before I start college I want to lose weight. I have tried multiple diets over the years and nothing seems to work! My dad had a restriction operation ( weight loss surgery ) a little over a year ago and he went from 170 kg ( 380lbs ) to 90 kg ( 190 lbs ) in that time period. So I convinced my parents that I needed to do this and they were on board from the get go! I went to meet the doctor a while back and I went for a blood check up and everything, I was very excited. Today we get a call from a receptionist telling us that the operation is on Wednesday ( 2 days from now ) and that I have to be in my hospital room the night before. At that very moment it was the most amazing news ever! Now, I'm very worried about the surgery and going under. In my country hundreds of people had this surgery because we have a lot of obese people, this comforts me. We rarely hear a story of someone passing away from this surgery. Also the same doctor who did the procedure on my father is doing it on me. I am also afraid of not waking up which sounds ridiculous I know but I'm just scared. However, I'm not scared enough to not want this but I just worried I guess. Ever since I was a kid I was bullied because of my weight, heck even my grandmother made fun of me. I don't have a lot of friends because I hate myself for being fat and so I don't appeal to other people. I was always quiet because being fat made me feel less of a person than anyone else due to the snarky comments and bullying. I hate being known as ______ the fat guy. I even turned down summer jobs I dreamed of as a kid because I'm afraid of being made fun as. I feel like I wasted a lot of my years because I was too ashamed of myself, and I want that to stop. So do you have any great tips to calm down? It will also help if you share a story about you or something you've heard related to this subject.

However, I'm not scared enough to not want this but I just worried I guess. Your line sums it up!!! You go for it girl! It's really no different from going to the dentist and being knocked out while they take out a tooth. Think of all the terrible things people have to endure and live with and you have this opportunity to change your life. I know this is random but I just moved abroad and I've been feeling really down and lonely and I find that listening to my fave music REALLY CALMS me down. Maybe you should stick on a few upbeat tunes too? Seriously, chin up! I know it's scary but you just have to brave. Picture yourself strutting down the street in your new look! You can do it!!!!Good luck!!!

How to Lose Weight Even After Menopause

Recommended Answer:

If you weigh 180lbs, eat 180grams of protein. That's it, don't listen to the bogus take this and that so you won't lose muscle. It's simple, if you weigh X then eat X grams of protein.

Other Answers:

  • Simple. Take a BCAA ( branch chained amino acid) it is essential for keeping muscle while loosing fat. It allows you to keep muscle during your cutting period ( caloric deficits). If your body has more calories then it uses everyday then you body is more able to gain muscle and put on weight, the same goes for when your body is burning all the calories you take in and more, your body will go to your stored fat as an energy source. During your cutting period, you will loose a small amount of muscle that cannot be avoided. The same goes for gaining muscle without some amount of fat. So just get a BCAA and be sure to eat lean proteins. Good luck.

What do you think about exercising & eatting?

since i was About 10 years old i ate everyday. you would not catch me without eatting, im talking about every 5 or 10 minutes i grab a bag of cheese puff (chips) or just a muffin with water on the side (always drinking water). so i was thinking about since im getting older i should work out but i always think why should i work out? i dont get fat havnt even gotten fat since i was 1 still not getting fat!! im trying to gain weight but when i eat it goes inside the toilet (to me waste of money but i love eatting so i shouldnt write that).i had weight about 137 pounds back in September. now i dont know my weight but i heard from my mom yesterday she told me "your legs are getting thick" that was her comment when i got under the dryer (hair salon) when she told me 2000 firecrackers exploded in my head because i really want weight put on my body about 180 pounds then work out to get that "pear body shape" i be the happest girl on the planet if i got a pear body shape figure... so what ya think about working out & eatting at the same time?example glutes then stop to eat a muffin. squats then stop for water. ... leg weight then stop for muffins or chips...

How to Count Carbohydrates to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:

You left out some important information...your age and your height. So, I'm going to assume your about 16, very tall, and you don't want to put on 180 pounds but you want to weigh 180 pounds. If that's close to being correct, you just need to eat a good and proper diet and let your body grow. If you want to exercise, create a list of realistic and achievable fitness goals and then you can map out an exercise routine. Just wanting a pear shaped body at 180 pounds is not a fitness goal. Now, here's the story. If you're an ectomorph (very thin/skinny) or near ectomorph you will have difficulty gaining weight because of your somatype, not because of metabolism. So, if you want to change that and add some pounds there are two ways to do it. Both may work and neither may work. Your success is going to ultimately depend on your body chemistry which is inherited (genetic).FATThe difference between naturally fat and naturally thin people is the number of fat cells in their body. An endomorph may have as many as 250 billion adipocytes (fat cells) while the ectomorph may only have about 50 billion. There's no way to change your total adipocytes or their distribution throughout your body. How fat or thin you are has almost nothing to do with metabolism. You can try adding fat by eating more food. You should eat a proper diet which is about 50/20/30 (%calories from carbs/fats/protein respectively) and just consume more food. You should NOT eat junk food, increase your carbs, take supplements, consume more fat, etc. Just eat a proper, well balanced diet in increase the portions (serving sizes). If you are able to add body fat, you will have no control over where the fat goes or how it looks. In other words, the result could be "skinny fat" which is probably less appealing aesthetically than skinny. And, of course, if you don't like the fat, you'll just have to lose it to get back to where you were.MUSCLEYou can try adding muscle. It is always good to try to add muscle because muscle is the best metabolic investment you can make. Here are some of the benefits of strength training.• Stronger bones & increased mineral density (osteoporosis protection)• Stronger body & musculature (improved protection from injury)• More robust organic and systemic fitness (more survivable in crisis) • Improved cardio-vascular function (better than "cardio")• Higher basal metabolic rate (~5-50 cal/day/pound of muscle)• Easier fat loss (more efficient lipid consumption)• Greater calorie consumption (prolonged afterburn)• Supports body sculpting (hypertrophy)• Slows natural loss of muscle mass (sarcopenia) over age 30Adding muscle is a very slow and difficult process. Watch this video for more about that ---> http://www.youtube.com/user/scooby1961#p/search/0/Xcuhi6RaZ24 . On average males can add no more than about a pound of muscle per month and females can add about 20% less and that is only under ideal circumstances which are rare. However, if you're a teen, you may find adding muscle to be almost impossible because you will not have your lifetime maximum of testosterone (the muscle building hormone) until about your mid20s. Adding muscle means very intense (and painful) training for a few hours per week and usually requires a gym or gym facilities. It also requires some understanding of how to train (exercise physiology, kinesiology, muscle anatomy, etc) which usually means some time spent with a personal trainer. Adding muscle is a difficult and long term process and, once the muscle is added, the training must continue to maintain the muscle.Ectomorphism is an unhappy an occurrence because being very thin can effect self esteem and inhibit social interaction. However, the ectomorph will usually, in adult life, find it easier to achieve and maintain an ideal or close to ideal body weight because people naturally tend to grow fatter and/or more robust as they grow older....especially with proper diet and training. In other words, being underweight now may be paying it forward. You may reap the benefits with a nice body while your midlife peers are fighting the battle of the bulge.Note - Do not use pills, tonics, supplements, shakes, or other products which claim they can help increase body weight without first checking with your doctor. The scammers are very much aware of the plight of the ectomorph and there are scores or companies with products and advertising all designed to capitalize on your misfortune for their profit. Don't be a sucker. So, they may not be ideal. But those are your two options. Fat and/or muscle. Now, read this --> http://www.eatright.org/Public/content.aspx?id=6852#.UDnVaKAUOFAGood luck and good health!!♠

What brand/type of laptop should I buy?

I am an editor who needs to be able to open big PDFs. My current laptop is a 4 year old Acer (which I haven't been terribly happy with...) I need something that is fast (I would like a quad-core, but they're generally too expensive) with good RAM. I need to be able to have many windows/programs open at a time without my computer lagging or freezing. I need a bigger hard drive (bare minimum of 500GB, preferably 750. I don't want a size under 15". I do not know what brand to buy. I need something very reliable. I do not want to spend more than $500-$600.Any ideas?

Systems with high end parts with low prices are to be viewed with suspicion. They have to cut corners somewhere to get the price down. What cost you less today is going to cost you more tomorrow.Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. Lenovo will not allow people to read instruction on how to access the BIOS menu or to get info on their puters on their web site unless you connect to them thru Facebook. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. Could I have a thyroid problem?

Hypothyroidism typically affects women over 60 but I was wondering I it is possible that I have it at age 17??? I have the following symptoms but idk if they are unrelated or not
Depression
Extreme fatigue regardless of amount of sleep
Dry brittle hair
I have been overweight my entire life and was obese at age 16 but I have dedicated myself to losing weight and have since lost 50 pounds

Why Losing Weight Fast is Bad!

Recommended Answer:
The extreme fatigue and dry hair could also be a sign that you are NOT eating correctly.

Ask your Doctor for a blood test for thyroid. Its simple, quick and will make many other possible causes visible.

Take care and feel better soon.

  • Yes it does. Where did you hear it only affects women over 60? That''s bull. I have it an I not 60. So go to doc an get checked. It can cause a lot of problems if left unchecked.

Fast Ways to Lose Weight - Do Such Methods Exist and Are They Effective Over the Long Term?

Recommended Answer:
When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don''t eat wheat then you don''t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don''t eat junk food, and you don''t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It''s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

  • Fall in love.
  • You don''t need to lose weight , forcing the body to lose weight is not good for a girl of your age , because you meed proteins to help your body grow correctly without any problem. of course that not eating junk food and just good natural food will make you grow correctly and healthy.
  • You''re only thirteen love. You shouldn''t be worrying about that.
You also didn''t mention how tall you are, which is really important.
If youre 5''4...being 100lbs would make you look ill!
Just eat clean-fruits, veggies, nuts, water, lean meats
And exercise daily, 30-60 minutes of cardio (anything that gets your heart rate up!)

LOL my phone auto-corrected it. Sorry!
I meant to say "only" but it changed it to "not"
    I fixed it. Sorry!
  • You have to cut your portion sizes. Don''t fall for fad diets where you don''t eat any protein etc. As a young still developing person you need to be sure to have a well rounded balanced diet. Be sure to get protein and calcium in your diet etc. Try to avoid the bad foods altogether such as sweets and fried things and cut your portions.
  • drink plenty of water. weigh yourself every other day. eat fiber. work out an hour 5-7 days a week.
  • that much is also okay but if you want to reduce weight up to 100 lbs then do exercise and don,t eat too much fat .eat balanced diet

Easiest way for teen girls to lose weight?

We are 15 and 14, and we want to lose atleast 20 pounds before summer, we will exercise, but we dont have enough time to exercise more than an hour a day, and we are bad eaters, is there any way we could eat better without starving ourselves and just eating salad? HELP US, WE WANT BIKINIS. :D

Stop Excusing Yourself From Losing Weight and Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
Eat healthy and exercise. Do some resistance training along with cardio. But the most important thing is to EAT BETTER. There''s no way you''re going to get the bikini body you guys want without eating healthy. Don''t eat just salad, that''s the worst thing you could do to yourself and a terrible myth. Eat a round meal of carbs, vitamins and minerals (salad part), and protein. Don''t worry, girls don''t get "buff" by lifting weights or doing resistance training. There''s a function in the female hormone that suppresses muscle gaining, so you won''t get buff but you''ll get toned. If you don''t have more than an hour, commit a few days to cardio, then the other days to resistance. But if you don''t mind me asking, what do girls that are 14, 15 have that keeps them so busy they only have 1 hour?...Just a question.

Anyways, best of luck. And yes it''s gonna be hard as hell. But please don''t do anything stupid like starving yourselves. Good luck.

Turn on music and dance like wild. Let your hair down once in a while. Go back to the days of wild childhood. Close the door of your room, turn on your sound system to the highest volume possible (but a little lower than the level at which your neighbors start to complain) and then do the wackiest dance that you can think of. Jump on your bed and jump off it again. Roll all over the floor. Pretend that you are Michael Jackson or Madonna (you will never see them keeping still) and do ever boogie move that you know.
