Why have i stopped losing weight?

I am 155 lbs and 5'4.5''. I've been working out every other day. Sometimes it's a short workout like 10 minutes, or 17 minutes and something I do insanity which is 30 ish minutes. I have been trying to watch my calories intake so that i eat about 1200 - 1300 calories a day but I don't seem to be losing any weight. The first week I was losing pounds and inches around my waist, but it has completely stopped and hasn't changed at all for the past two weeks. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong? On days I do insanity I eat around 1400 - 1500 calories.

Why no weight loss despite exercise and a reasonable diet?

My whole life, I have not been afraid of athletics, and have gone through some periods where I do a solid amount of exercise and other periods with very little. But, it seems, no matter how hard I exercise, even with a reasonable diet of, say, 1200-1800 calories, I don't lose weight, nor does my waist get smaller -- no more than an inch or so. It's not like I am thin already. Most charts would put me at overweight or obese. I can get up to the point where I can run a 5K at an OK pace, do 50, even 100 pushups, situps, etc., but, still, my body weight and dimensions barely budge. At well over 200 pounds, going faster or further distances is problematic, but, still, I'm probably more athletic than 90% of people in their 40s. This has been going on my whole life, even though I played plenty of sports in my day, through college, and seem to have a good level of cardio and a very high level of physical strength. What could I be missing?

How to Lose Weight in the Feet

Recommended Answer:

It sounds like you are genetically programmed to be this size and weight, especially since you say it's been going on your entire life and you get enough exercise and eat healthy. It is healthier to be physically active and considered overweight on the charts than to be physically inactive and thin or average on the charts. Metabolism generally slows down a bit after age 40 and if you are more athletic and fit than 90% of people in their 40s, that is great! Muscle is more metabolically active than fat, so people that let the muscle turn to fat really have an uphill battle to get in shape. You sound pretty healthy to me. I don't think you have anything to worry about, and you should just embrace your body type. = )There' are a lot of people who could benefit from eating healthier and doing both aerobic and weight bearing exercise. This probably doesn't apply to you, but just thought I'd mention it. Hypothyroidism, an under active thyroid, is one of the main reasons many people can't lose weight.

Other Answers:

  • Although you may not want to hear it you are underestimating your daily caloric intake - it HAS to be more than you state.
  • are you sure your weight is not mainly muscle?A lot of athletes come into the obese category because they have so much muscle and it weighs more than fat.Otherwise you might just have a really slow metabolism-does it matter that much though? If you're fit and you look ok I wouldn't worry about it

Can stress cause you to lose weight even if you keep eating the same?

Im already skinny to begin with, so I can''t afford to lose any weight. Ive been stressed out lately and notice my ribs and hip bones are sticking out. I don''t know why because I am STILL eating the same amount as always. Would stress still make me lose weight? What can I do? This is really just stressing me out more.

Lose Weight and Block Fat

Recommended Answer:
Yes it can. It can increase your metabolism and weaken your immune system. Try to take some supplements like multi vitamins and calcium. The calcium is a natural relaxer and the b vitamins will help the stress. Try to sneak in extra calories with nuts and milkshakes. Try toasted pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate for antidepressant effect. Please see a doc or counselor if stress does not get better!

  • Yes stress really affects tour body negatively and cause you to loose weight, try different relaxation techniques like meditation or yoga, or exercise, talk to someone or write how you feel down in a diary.

Its just one of those things xx

The Problem With Losing Weight

Recommended Answer:
I would say you sound like a fairly healthy ''young man'' although your calorie intake is a little low i would increase by 800-1000 more aday depending on how active your days are.anything under 2000 and your likely to lose weight which is not good if your 12 stone and 6"1

  • You sound reasonably healthy to me.
It wouldn''t hurt to up you calorie intake to 1,500 - 2,000 calorie''s - since you are pretty active.

What Do You Think The Fastest Way To Lose Weight Is?

Recommended Answer:
When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don''t eat wheat then you don''t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don''t eat junk food, and you don''t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It''s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

  • I started a diet on the last part of February and have lost almost 15 lbs since I started this. Nothing weird, no supplements, or something that is going to give you cancer down the road. I started trying to lose weight in October and prior to starting this diet I had lost 15 lbs on that diet. Altogether 30 lbs. but, as you can see it took me months to lose what I have now lost in weeks.

The secret? I eat as much as I want, whenever I want. But there''s a couple of caveats. 1- Everything is 100% raw. Vegetables, fruits, nuts and water. It''s not easy, but it''s definitely giving me results that I''ve never seen before on any other diet. 2- I''m avoiding grains. Although you have to cook most there are some you can go around. For example, corn can be eaten raw, it''s very sweet and tasty actually. And oatmeal can be sprouted. But I''m avoiding grains altogether. On this diet, I don''t crash, I have energy all day long. It''s the most amazing non-secret there is. I have a very physical job, I''m bike riding routinely, average 1-2 hrs a day. Did I mention I''m 42?

As long as I eat when my body tells me to eat, i.e. hunger, I''m ok. If I ignore it and be stubborn, I suffer quickly as I''m being very active. I am easily eating a plastic bagful of groceries daily (mostly fruit, very little greens and occasional vegetables). I seem to require more and more food and seem to be losing more and more weight and yet continue to rise higher and higher in energy. The math doesn''t add up but yet, it''s there and undeniable!

If you don''t want anything that extreme, I have had results (not nearly as good but good) with removing things from my diet. If you want something less extreme just do the following. Remove all sugar, dairy, red meat, and grains (wheat, corn, rice, oatmeal, barley etc.). Guaranteed results. If you''ve never paid attention to the ingredients on a package, this equation pretty much excludes you from any pre-packaged foods or fast food. You''re stuck to eating vegetables, fruits, legumes, potatoes, chicken and fish (i.e., a healthy diet). As far as exercise goes, load up on potatoes before you know you''re going exercise, that or bananas, dates, raisins, nuts. You get the picture.

    Best of luck.

p.s. I had prepared myself moderately for the raw diet. I did so by removing any prepackaged foods, sugar, fast food, and regular bad health food for months before attempting this. I say this because this diet will accelerate and clean your system. If you''re consuming massive junk now and try to do this you will experience a massive detox sometime in the first month of eating raw. I suggest easing your self into it. The second diet plan is what I went with. And that''s no easy task in and of itself. But energy seemed to be an issue until I went raw.

p.s.s. A little note on the sugar equation, especially when considering your drinks. All alcohol is sugar, end of story. Sweetened drinks are 99.9% of the time sweetened with high fructose corn syrup, sugar, or artificial sweetener. It''s all crap and your body reacts to each of those with similar responses . . . fat storage! I drink mostly purified water but when I choose a sweetened drink it''s sweetened with stevia (sweetened in my own kitchen).

Lose Weight in 24 Hours - 4 Easy Tips to Losing Weight Fast

Recommended Answer:
The healthiest way to loose weight is to have 6 small meals a day. This is the way people are supposed to eat so it doesn''t stretch out your stomach and make you want more food. I started using this method a while ago and It really works. A balance of healthy eating and exercise is a great way to lose weight. So here it goes:
6 times a day (every 2-3 hours)
-fist size amount of protein
-fist size amount of healthy carbs(try to avoid non-natural sugars and processed foods)
2 times a day:
-fist size amount of veggies
Once a day:
-1 tbs unsaturated oil
-drink 10 cups of water (not all at once though)
-have a multi vitamin
Then, the excersise:
-train with weights (no more that 45 mins a week)
-preform at least 30 mins of aerobic excersise 3 times a week
-take it easy on one day of the week.

Hopefully this helps ;)

  • 1. Spell right
    2. Eat right
    3. Exercise right
  • That''s extraordinarily unhealthy and almost not possible.

Plus, it depends on your height.
  • It''s not dieting that you should worry about, I eat anything I want and I''m still thin.. This is because I exercise :-) Literally once a day (I usually do it at night) have a 30 minute exercise routine where you build up a sweat and then you''ll start burning off fat. I do sit-ups (20, 4 times), press ups (as many as you can) and what ever else I feel like which is body fat burning. Sometimes I look up on youtube different exercise work outs and they''re always about 30 minutes.

This way you can lose the pounds and don''t have to control your eating habits as much as you would on a diet.

What Do You Think The Fastest Way To Lose Weight Is?

Recommended Answer:
It's really not as complex as you might think. Seriously. Eat REAL food...eat SIMPLE. You don't have to follow a crazy strict diet. Eat to your needs. A little tip....if it has a food label with ingredients, it isn't real food. Fruits don't have that...vegetables don't have that...chicken doesn't have that...you get the idea
As far as exercises go, I know that you say you want to focus on loosing the weight first and getting the muscles later...but they are one in the same. Muscle mass burns fat. The more muscle you build the more fat you will burn. So what I am telling you is that you need to lift and lift HEAVY. You need to lift weights that challenge your body. If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you. Yes, you will want to do cardio as well to get your heart rate up and help you burn those calories and fat as well. But TRUST ME when I say you want to incorporate the weights...probably focus on them even more than the cardio.

  • Eat Crackers And Drink Water For A Week
  • At 150 pounds don't try to lose 5 pounds in a week. Shoot for a pound or two a week and in 6 months you will lose 26+ pounds. This will be better for your body. Develop good eating habits and exercise at least 3 times a week and you will be able to accomplish your goals. I have lost 12 pounds in 7 weeks by keeping the same lifting pattern and giving up junk food and soda.
