I weighed 357 pounds and lost 222 pounds. Then I got sick and dropped to 113 pounds and had to gain 22 pounds. Now I maintain my weight at a heart healthy 135 to 139 pounds. I used a weight concept called The Food Faucet. It is really easy. I could eat the foods I already have and like. The concept is about eating the foods you already eat in a different order and different amounts for your body's needs. It's super easy and worked for my husband, daughters, and a couple of friends too.It worked so well that I wrote a book about it. More friends have tried it and it still worked great. I believe with all my being that the whole world could get healthier and happier if they'd just read it. It's my goal to see to it that anybody and everybody that needs to make weight changes gets the opportunity to read it. I believe it could save every over- and underweight person, a lot of heartache. The book has BMI calculations and weight charts so you can figure out your ideal weight. It has experiments to show how the stomach and your foods work together and lots of helpful hints and suggestions. I'm told it's good, interesting, and works well. You can get the book at www.thefoodfaucet.com. The website has my before and after pictures. They are awful looking pictures, but they are all I had. When my weight was bad I didn't really like to take pictures, but they certainly get the point across. There is a contact form on the site for more questions.I wish you wealth in health.

How to Fast and Lose Weight Safely

Recommended Answer:

I believe that you can really achieve your goal as long as you follow the proper healthy weight loss program. Just never give up of your desire to loss weight. Eat more high fiber foods. Whole grains, apples, pears, and lima beans are a great source of fiber as are many breakfast cereals. Drink plenty of water while dieting. And take your diet one step at a time for the best results and be sure to incorporate extra physical activity into the mix.

  • The first thing you need to do is increase your caloric intake. You don't want to go below 1200, especially given the amount of exercise you're doing. You should probably be eating 1500-2000 calories, from lean proteins, whole grains, and fresh fruits and veggies. If you stuck with under 1000 calories, not only will you not have any energy, your body will hold on to as much as possible and try to create new fat reserves. Also, talk to your doctor. You're currently at a healthy weight. If you lose 20-25 pounds you will be in the hospital and facing serious health issues, assuming you're not dead. You'll need to work with a medical professional to draw up a healthy diet and probably need regular blood tests to make sure your organs aren't failing. If you lose 25 pounds then your body will begin destroying your organs for fuel in a desperate attempt to keep you alive. You could die of a heart attack or other major organ failure, or just land in the hospital and have to deal with the health repercussions for the rest of your life.

16 Reasons to Lose Weight

I''m a kid just like you, and I''ve tried everything I could, but eating less is good and eating healthier things like salads every day could clean your body out and help you lose weight, I am trying a tricky diet that I made myself, you can try it if you like, I will eat a "protein" bar called slimful - 90 calories, then skipping lunch, eating only fruits and vegetable for dinner,- 200 calories (Trust me theres a lot of items that equal 200 calories) mashing them up in a blender. And working out a lot. Hope This helps.

  • it depends on your initial weight. The more you weight, the more you can lose safely.
Diet means everything you eat. There are bad diets and good diets. Do you think it''s healthy to eat greasy bad food? It''s much more unhealthy than a proper diet.
go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food

Why is it that so many people want to drop pounds without working out?

Not just on this site but all around me I see people wanting to lose weight without exercising or eating right. They want starve themselves,go on strange liquid diets, diet pills, every cheat out there. Yes, dieting and exercising is hard, very very hard, but it''s so much more rewarding to know your doing it right! I also don''t get all the questions about how they can lose excessive amounts of weight in a small amount of time. Is it a lack of dedication? Impatience?

How To Lose Weight Fast and Safely

Recommended Answer:
Because they don''t know any better. If they new the proper methods of exercise and nutrition, they wouldn''t be fat in the first place.

  • Becuase being fit is fun, but working out isnt.

    The science:
Humans (unlike many animals) make short term judgments on things a oppose to long term judgment. Meaning: when we see working out, we think "no enjoyment". We don''t tend to think about the enjoyment we''ll get down the road.
  • Because people expect scientist to come up with a product that will make them healthy and fitter without putting the work in
Because why should they exercise if maybe some magical pill will do it for them (sarcasm)
  • To lose weight and keep it off, you need to make a permanent lifestyle change. Most people approach diet and exercise as something transitional, that they need to do "for a while." That''s why they''re more likely to adopt strange fads. Also, let''s be real: losing weight with a proper diet and lots of exercise is still REALLY HARD, especially if you have a lot of weight to lose, and many people who turn to fad diets have tried more conventional methods and failed.

Low-calorie diets are deprivation diets and those are bound to fail. When you exercise more, you get hungry, but you''re told to eat less. And everyone''s first piece of advice to a fat person is to eat less, but there''s an assumption that the person is fat because of over-eating. What if the fat person isn''t over-eating? Does he have to drop down to starvation rations just to lose weight? Eat less and exercise more, while seemingly sound, are a recipe for disaster.

So I get the fads. I also get that real change, the idea of fundamentally altering how you relate to food, how you organize your time, and how active you are, are difficult and scary.
  • Lots of reasons for that including lack of motivation, lack of self discipline, laziness and ignorance in some cases.

Also, in some rare cases it can be a genetic problem

If a person is genetically predisposed to be overweight, it can be extremely difficult to find the self discipline to change their body, but it can be done.

I guess that would mean that the primary reason is lack of self discipline.

Losing a lot of weight quickly is generally a bad idea and frequently it will be regained as quickly as it was lost.

This is why dieting alone doesn''t generally work.

To get to a specific weight requires self discipline and changing your entire focus as well as eating habits and activities.
  • Some people are just LAZY and dont want t put in the time and effort instead they wnt to take the easy way out

How To Lose Weight Fast and Safely

Recommended Answer:
this is why they recommend that you take your measurements & monitor things like your resting heart rate, blood pressue, & your fasting blood sugar & cholesterol levels. & not rely entirely on that number on the scale.

when I started exercising, I actually gained weight the first 4 weeks. If I had only been relying on the scale, I would have quit. but I had done those other things I mentioned above. I checked by blood pressure, resting heart rate, & measurements weekly & my fasting blood sugar & cholesterol levels every 12 weeks. In that first four weeks, I gained almost 10 pounds but I lost 2" off my arms, waist & thighs each & 4" off my hips. I went down almost 4 sizes, my blood pressure dropped from borderline high to normal & my resting heart rate dropped from 80 beats per minute to 60 beats per minute.

what happened was: I burned fat but I put on muscle (muscle is heavier & more compact than fat). that initial muscle was needed to increase my metablolism in order to help burn more fat. once my body put on enough muscle to help increase my metabolism, I started losing weight.

my recommendation:
you''ve only been doing this program for 3 days. commit to it for 12 weeks. no matter what the scale says you are going to continue this program for 12 weeks.

get an exercise journal ( this is one I like: http://www.amazon.com/BodyMinder-Workout-Exercise-Journal-Fitness/dp/0963796844) or do a search online for a template you like & make one of your own. set it up for 12 weeks

take the following measurements:
weight, neck, chest, upper arm, waist, hips, thighs, calves, blood pressure (if you don''t have a monitor then go to your local pharmacy--there will either be a machine that takes your blood pressure or the pharmacist will do it for free or a small fee), your resting heart rate (count the number of beats in 6 seconds & multiply by 10. a normal range is 60 to 90 beats per min w/ the lower end being ideal). optional: you can have your sugar & cholesterol checked (again check w/ your local pharmacy. many will do these readings for a low fee. some do them all the time, some only do them once a month.)

the measurements you can do at home you will check weekly. the measurements you need help with, you''ll check monthly. blood sugar & cholesterol you can check every 3 or 4 months but really only need to check once or twice a year. (this means no weighing yourself between official weigh ins. the weight fluctuations you''ll experience throughout the week will just make you crazy.)

the idea here is if you can see you are making progress in other areas then you''re less likely to get frustrated because the scale doesn''t say what you think it should say

whats the best exercise to lose belly fat?

How to Lose Weight in 2 Weeks by Eating Healthy Food

Recommended Answer:
Any form of cardio will make you burn calories and fat. Including eating healthy and drinking lots of water.

  • well I did basketball too, and it doesn''t do too much to keep you in shape. I played for my high school and you pretty much just sprint and stop all the time. you should try jogging for long periods of time. also crunches and sit-ups don''t really work all that well because it just works on the abs under the fat. what you want to work out is the core. you do that by running, doing planks, slow bikes, and leg lifts. do these in circuits or sets and your stomach will be smaller soon

also cut back on carbs, meat, and dairy. it''s bad for you and makes you fat
  • well, i don''t think any of it works.. until you hit the gym!!! Perhaps, going to gym is better to say hmpph n hide your stomach a bit when posing for photos or when wearing tight t''s :)
  • You don’t get to choose where you lose fat.
    You can’t target weight/fat loss.
Why? First, you must understand: the only difference between people whose muscles (or “shape”) you can see, and those whose you can’t, is a layer of fat. There is no such thing as more “toned” muscle. Muscle is muscle is muscle. “Looking toned” simply means that you have less fat covering your muscle. Everybody on the planet has a six-pack. You just can’t see it.
To lose this fat healthily, it is suggested that you do approximately 30 minutes of cardio exercise a day, give or take, be that walking or running or spending it on the rowing machine, the choice is yours. Also a healthy balanced diet wouldn''t go amiss. Sadly there are no short cuts to achieving the body that you aim for. If you want to achieve it safely and healthily, it requires patience and perseverance.

Does eating less affect your sleep?

I've been eating 500 calories or less since Monday and I've noticed I'm becoming more tired. Does eating less calories make you tired?

How to Lose Weight Fast: 14 Things You Can Do to Lose Weight Quickly!

Recommended Answer:
Yes, eating so few calories can make you tired. If you do not get enough nourishment and calories, it is like you are trying to drive a car somewhere, without enough gas in the tank. The car slows down, and stops, before you arrive. Because it has run out of fuel.

500 calorie diets may have even more dangerous risks than just getting more tired. You might want to do some more research before continuing with this. Besides, there are easier ways to lose fat, that will actually give you more energy. Like eating a more reasonable amount of food, and doing a few quick (10-20 minute) kettlebell workouts each week. Plus eating foods that boost your metabolism, like coconut oil.

Speaking of sleep, people who are sleep deprived who start to sleep more at night, and do not diet, often lose weight naturally. Getting the right amount of sleep actually helps your body have the optimal hormonal balance for fat loss.

"On average, we need about 7.5 hours of quality sleep per night, he says. “If you are getting this already, another half hour will not help you lose 10 pounds, but if you are a five-hour sleeper and start to sleep for seven hours a night, you will start dropping weight.”" -Dr. Breus, PhD, author of Beauty Sleep and the clinical director of the sleep division for Arrowhead Health in Glendale, Ariz.

Hope that helps!

Walking to Lose Weight - Fitness Tips For Any Season

Recommended Answer:
It is okay to have a some fat (you really do need to have some fat on your body in order to be healthy). The weight increase is probably due to muscle increase (muscle weighs more than fat). Remember to stay away from sugary beverages (they add too many extra calories into your diet). Since it seems that you are being healthy, my best advice is to be happy with yourself. And remember the saying "meat is for the man, bones are for the boys" because men really do like some meat on their women and they do not like to hug a women that goes "crunch". Good night.

  • diet and do more exercise!
  • Eat healthy(kale is very good), try a new sport, don't go to the gym and lift weights.
  • The problem could probably be with the food that you are eating and the intervals (meaning the duration of time between each meal) that you are eating in. If you are eating fatty foods (rich in saturated, trans fats) throughout the day its not going to help even if you lived at the gym. The fastest and easiest way to lose weight is to combine healthy food with going to the gym. You don't necessarily have to go on a diet, just the word itself usually stops people from wanting to lose weight. Just eat better more nutrient dense food. (Instead of a donut and coffee for breakfast, with very high sugar and calories, try omelets, a bowl of fruit, and a glass of orange juice, not that many calories and very nutritious and really not that bad to eat) Just make small adjustments in your diet and I'm positive you'll see results instantly.
  • Gym is good but , instead go for swimming !!
daily1hour morning and 1 hour in evening swim gives you a faster results !!
  • Take the stairs.
Park way in the back of the parking lot and take the extra walk.
    Avoid fatty foods.
    Set goals.
  • Gym helps but it does not work well if you are not maintaining a good diet.
