Does coconut oil make you lose weight?

My mom just showed me this Asian tv show about losing weight and this one girl prob I'm her mid 20s lost like 10-20 pounds by adding coconut oil into her foods when cooking. Is this fake? I mean there were pictures and I heard its really good for you. BtwI'm talking about like organic coconut oil. I want to lose pounds really fast because I don't lose weight quick unless I burn 1000 calories a day but that's too much for me so I'm thinking about buying coconut oil.

How to Lose Weight With Shift Work

Extra virgin coconut oil is an amazing fat source. Don't listen to the guy that said that its "bad" because its saturated. Fat is not bad. Your body needs fat. When fat is unsaturated that means that it oxidizes more easily and releases free radicals in your body. I would not cook with coconut oil. I would eat it straight. Make sure its organic as well.As far as loosing weight its not a secret. Get rid of the junk food (chips, pop, etc.) and start exercising.

Other Answers:

  • No, there is a lot of saturated fat in coconut oil. Avocados are a much better weight loss food.http://www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/nutrition/healthy-eating/avocado-health-benefits-3-reasons-you-should-be-eating-them.html

jogging is an excellent exercise because it let you lose weightevenly throughout your whole body. If you want to lose weight inspecific areas, you should target them with exercises. If they areyour problem areas, they will be very difficult to tone. You will haveto work double on them. The best approach is this:1. Lower/control your daily calorie intake (control for normalweight, lower for overweight).2. Run/jog to lower your overall body fat percentage.3. Target your problem areas with exercises.an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on astool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture, for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make surethat it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or youwill damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of yourbody back, until it's parallel with the ground. Stop for a second andmove it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week addto the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week, guaranteed! Your stomach would be flatter and stronger. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than thesecrunches - I came up to three hundreds and there was no results ATALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

Juice fast??? Questions?

Hey i alreay know about the movie "fat sick and nearly dead" and decided I want to try the juice fast. I already juice once or twice a week but I have other food as well and only a glass of juice. I''m already dieting but I have gotten to the state of my diet where it''s just not working anymore, I have already lost 30 pounds, but I want to lose like 40 more. So my question is how long should I do the juice fast and how much juice do I need per day and also I usually make my juice with celery, carrots, and apples. Should I use more if a variety? Like ginger, tomatoes, lettuce, citrus fruits, etc? Thanks

Stop Trying to Lose Weight

Juicing daily is a bad idea. It takes a lot of time, you throw away much of what you''re paying for as well as much of your nutrition, and you may suffer GI problems more often, especially if you juice veggies, not to mention that juicing is not as healthful as you think. In general, juicing on a daily basis is a bad idea. My juicer is sitting in a cupboard somewhere gathering dust. If you wan to drink healthy, drink water.

The problem with juicing is the process eliminates much of the fiber and some of the nutrition available in the fruits and vegetables. However, it passes on the sugars and calories in concentrated form. The result is you miss the normal digestive processes and the satisfaction that goes with it so you''ll be hungry sooner. What you throw away when you clean your juicer is part of your food and that''s not only part of what you''re paying for, it''s part of what your body needs. For example, the fiber you lose when extracting juice will help keep that 15-20 foot long GI tract (smooth muscle) healthy and you regular.

Also, when you drink your juice it goes much faster because there is no mastication involved. That makes it easy to dump the sugars into your stomach before your blood glucose increases and suppresses your appetite. So, you can drink the juice and get all the fructose of ten oranges in half the time it takes you to eat one orange making eating rather than drinking the obvious best choice for dieters and the best way to get all nutrition the fruits and veggies have to offer.

Also, if the fruit or vegetable contains a systemic bacteria such as e.coli (which caused an epidemic among spinach eaters in the US a few years ago), you''ll get much more of the bacteria by juicing. The same applies to contaminants such as pesticides which are sometimes spilled in the fields and end up in the food in trace amounts. Juicing not only concentrates the good substances, but the bad ones as well. This is particularly important as green leafy vegetables are a major source of food poisoning. More here --> http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/255645.php

Time is another problem with juicing. If you can save one minute per day at the end of a year you''ll have six hours to spend doing what you want. That''s dinner and a movie. When you find out how much time is takes to shop for fruits and veggies, prep them, juice them, and clean up after, if you juice daily you''re going to spend about one whole week of 24 hours days (168 hours of your life) doing nothing but making juice each year.

Eating food is a natural process. Extracting juice and drinking it, it not a natural process. Generally, the natural way is better because we have evolved using it.

Fasting for fat loss is a bad idea also because it teaches you nothing about maintaining normal or low body fat so when you stop the fast (you can''t fast foever), you will regain the lose fat. Here''s why that''s important.

When you lose fat, you weigh less and, hence, burn fewer calories. Your BMR will be lower so you''ll have to eat less on maintenance than when you were heavier. And, losing the fat is only the beginning. Once fat is lost, you have to keep it off for the rest of your life and that may include such difficulties as the "Freshman 15", college drinking culture, soirées and social drinking, pregnancy, somatopause (age-related slowing metabolism), a more sedentary lifestyle, affluence and access to more expensive, tasty, and fattening meals, etc. This truth is born out by the fact the 3 out of 4 adult Americans are overweight or obese. That''s means only 1 in 4 adult Americans has a healthy weight. (See: http://www.obesityinamerica.org/statistics/index.cfm ). It only gets more difficult to stay slim as the years roll by. It never gets easier. So, now is the time to establish good eating habits...the kind that will keep you svelte and fit in the days ahead and for the rest of your life.

You should plan your fat loss program around good science and nutrition information and not around pop pseudo-documentary films.

Good luck and good health!!

100 situps a day???????

Hi! I do 100 situps and 2.5km of running/walking a day. I started the sit ups 11 days ago but just started the running today. I''m going to do this until the 26th of February. Results? And don''t say "You gotta eat the right things" I''m only young so I''m trying my best.

BQ If I can''t get abs or anything with just that for around a month, how long then?

Three Reasons Why You Should Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
The results are that you will maybe sweat a little during the exercise depending on the temperature.

100 sit ups a day won''t get you anywhere until you actually learn to workout your abs at the right intensity so your abs gets the soreness a day or few days after. When you workout your muscle tissue gets torn apart from the stress that is added to the muscle, then they recover to adapt to the new stress added which makes the muscle bigger and stronger than before.

Cardiovascular exercise is not ideal for those wanting to lose weight. Though doing so much cardiovascular exercise will show effect, like those who are in a marathon, or loves to dance, etc. Most people whose mind set is to "lose weight by doing some cardio" won''t see much progress, because it can be one of the most time-consuming way to see progress, and the results can fade away quickly by just eating out of the strict diet for a day for some.

Most people who does everyday cardio are just losing water weight through sweat. Drink a sip of water and it''s like you did nothing. If you want to burn the fat, actual fat, you may need to concentrate on weight training. Build muscle, increase your metabolic rate. Increased metabolic rate means your body will be burning more calories, and this burns away the excess body fat.

If you''re a female and are worried about getting a body like a bodybuilder, don''t be. As long as you don''t eat like one and train as intense like one, you wouldn''t get bulky.

Unless you''re clearly overweight don''t quickly judge your progress by just looking at the scale. You could have gained a pound or two, but it''s possible that you could have actually lost few percent of body fat and just have extra weight added from muscle, waste, food in your body. If you''re still growing, you could have gained the weight through weight from organs, and growth in bones.

  • You won''t get abs in a month, but you shouldn''t kill yourself trying either. Its a life time effort and you can''t expect over night things like this. People train for years to get rock hard abs. You not get it in a month

Keep working at it and stay healthy and dnt be discouraged

    Cheers
  • that sounds good enough. you should add some pushups too, maybe 50 at least.
  • Abs r like any other muscle and u got to work hard and diet well and drink lots of water ! Train it just like ur biceps! But not the same excercises of course
  • Incorporate cardio in your workouts to burn fat on top of your abs.
  • Once you get abs, they won''t stay forever. You have to keep exercising right so that the abs will stay.

Will I lose weight if I go on a liquid diets?

Will I lose weight if I go on a liquid diet

What''s the Quickest Way to Lose Weight? - In One Week

Recommended Answer:
You will at first, but you will gain it back and add even more weight after you go back to a normal diet. In other words, don''t do it. It does you no good in the long run. You just need to eat in a healthy way and you will eventually get to where you want to be weight-wise. Quick fixes never work.

  • Hi... liquid diets are not good for u... i know we all saw 50 cent do it but he looked terrible and was starving.... u need a good meal plan... eating right... which means if ur a man ... u need to get the right amount of protein, carbs, and fats. eat 4 times a day... but eat the right stuff... and exercise... i use to be 240 pounds but with the right exercise routine (cardio .. cardio .. cardio) and right diet e.g.

breakfast: 3 egg whites, slice on wholemeal bread, tea/coffee
lunch: chicken breast with veggies and beans
snack: almonds, fat free popcorn, fruit
dinner: salmon with lemon and veg mix

    Exercise routine 4-6 days
    morning run 30-40 mins
    free weights - 30 -40 mins
    ab workout - 20-30 mins

its all about living healthy ... i guarantee that a liquid diet will drain you and have you looking like a pale faced mummy. You put the weight straight back on as soon as you stop the diet. Please try and stay away from it.

Weight loss at 14 weeks pregnant without nausea?

I''m almost 14 weeks pregnant, 120lbs 5''2". I''ve lost 5 pounds so far and eat every hour, on the hour and have been staying away from rigorous exercise. I can''t figure out why I could be losing weight with all of my calorie intake.
I had issues gaining weight with my daughter and only got up to 120 with her. I''ve been eating as many carbs as I can and my doc is concerned and wants me to keep an eye on food intake.

How to Lose Weight in 2 Weeks by Eating Healthy Food

Recommended Answer:
Dont worry that is fine! I lost 20 lbs my first 4 months. I am 5''2" as well and was 127 when I started. I never threw up once from nausea. My diet did change I didnt want to eat anything but fruit and salad but it was all the time. I wouldnt be worried about it. I ended up gaining my 20 back plus 40 more. As long as you are eating healthy and taking your prenatal vitamins... There is nothing to be worried about.

I would go to the docs just to put your mind at ease! :)

  • If your weight loss is causing you to be concerned, honey, then I would call your doctor and make an appointment to get checked out. There are many reasons why you could be loosing weight, and to find out why, you should see your doctor to put your mind at ease.

Maybe you have a high metabolism, and you need to eat foods that will "stick" with you during the day to keep you filled up, so talk to your doctor and see what you can do.

    G♥♥d luck :-)
    (((hugs)))♥♥♥
  • I would figure out how many calories you are actually eating and then talk to your doctor. List the items you are eating every day. You don''t really want to lose weight.
