My body is thicker now sense before I started working out?

I am 22 years old - 5'8 and about 158lbs. I have been working out recently for an hour and a half a day - 5 days a week - for 3 weeks now. I am not noticing myself getting smaller, (which is kinda my goal) but instead I feel like I am becoming thicker. My legs are harder, but wider. I do a full hour of cardio and a half hour of weights. I am not cutting back on the amount of food I eat but am slowly changing what I eat. I have been juicing fresh organic vegetables and fruits and I have been trying to eat as clean as I can, with the exception of a burger here and there. My question is: Is it normal for people who are just beginning to work out to "swell" ? If I continue, will they eventually tighten ? Any advise or comments on what I could do differently? Any info is much appreciated. Thank you

How to Lose Weight With a Six Week Program

Recommended Answer:

Don't listen to miguelzunga unless you want to get very sick. There is nothing wrong with having a burger, you need protein and carbs and fat, as long as you aren't loading it up with bacon and four cheeses and gooey sauces and a side of large fries. And ODing on water does nothing for you, that's a factoid anorexics on Y!A like to trot out, water is good for your body, but it has nothing to do with weight loss.Muscle weighs more than fat, and is tighter/harder and more compact, so while you "feel" thicker, even you are noticing you are getting smaller. Don't psyche yourself into body dysmorphia, you're doing everything exactly right, just keep it up.

  • Well as you said a burger here and there lol maybe you're not being fully strict on your diet. If you really want to lose weight you should do this : 1. eat nothing BUT vegetables NOT FRUITS because the sugar can hold you back 2: drink nothing but water 3. Exercise That's all you need to slim down and I promise you that you'll lose weight .. Faster way to lose fat is to jump rope it burns more calories in an hour then running.
  • Clean out your diet. Don't fully limit yourself because then you'll binge. Just be smart. Have a burger with no cheese or no condiments. Have egg whites, while wheat. And lots and lots of water.
