Is ballet a good sport to lose weight?

I've been planning on dancing ballet again, and using it as a workout to lose weight and to slim my body. Also as a hobby. Is it a sport? And can you lose weight with it?

It is outstanding for muscle tone, strength, and flexibility. If it is something you enjoy doing, it would be a terrific exercise activity. If your main goal is weight loss, you may want to also mix in some aerobic exercise (e.g. running or cycling) to help. I absolutely consider it a sport. Good luck!
