How can I focus on eating healthy? I always end up eating junk food?

Like 2 weeks ago, I told myself I was going to start eating healthy, and that day, I went to the grocery store, and I told my mom if I could buy healthy things. She said of course, so I bought some wheat pita bread, ham, swiss cheese, so I could make a sandwhiches of that(with lettuce and tomato which we had at home). I also got kiwi's and peach. But that's it! I don't know why, but I always don't know what to get that is healthy. I know what healthy food is, but I don't know, my head just gets empty at the store. and that feeling of wanting to eat healthy goes away after like 3 days. Then I start to eat like a use to and not drink a lot of water. Like a couple of hours ago, I made myself a greasy toasted sandwich, ate kettle cooked BBQ chips, and drank Pepsi. I felt guilty after that and like a fat blob.I'm 14(boy) and wanna lose weight.

How to Lose Weight Drastically

Recommended Answer:

Eat things that have lower calories and taste good! All Yoplait yogurts (and I'm sure some others) are only 90 calories and taste good! Just look for the amount of calories. Usually I'd say the norm is between 120 - 210 calories. Like let's say you want to eat a Pop Tart for breakfast, which is about 220 calories. Only eat 1 and save the other for the next day. That way, you're getting what you want and only half the calories. (Get the fruit flavored ones). Everything has a serving size. I know that a serving size of Doritos is 11 chips. I've started working out to get more fit, not necessarily to lose weight (I'm 17, 5"2, and 108lbs), and I've been trying to cut back on bad foods as well. It's not horrible to have them, just limit how much of it you have. And drink a lot of water as well! Also, you can't lose weight on only eating healthy alone. You should also start working out. I know it's tough, trust me. But in the end, it'll be so worth it! And that's what I tell myself as I'm working out. Good luck!I also ate kind of badly today, but I feel a lot better now having worked out and now I'm eating a Yogurt and drinking water. Even though I put not so good things into my body, it's still great when you do put good things into it afterwards :)

  • Healthy food doesn't have to be things like fruit and veg... Pretty much anything that isn't junk food and doesn't have too much fat or sugar! Just try to eat healthier in general, and don't be too hard on yourself or else you won't be able to sustain it!! Have a goal, eg after 1 month of healthy eating you can do something special too celebrate, this doesn't mean you can't eat anything unhealthy during that time! It's good to have something as a treat every now and then. Just make some simple changes in your diet and you'll be right! If you wanna lose weight you could go for a run each night, too. Good luck :)
  • Try to keep the junk food out of your house- it is hard when you live with your parents, but try to get them to either stop buying it, but it in smaller quantities, or at least keep it out of your sight. It's great that you bought health food! I would recommend starting out more gradually- adding some fruit, veggies and water into your daily eating, and cutting out junk food that makes you feel bad. Don't get rid of all junk food together- you will slip up and binge on it, something that happens to everyone from time to time. I ate poorly today too, and feel guilty about it, but what you shouldn't do is beat yourself up about it, or give up on healthy eating for the rest of the day. Drink some water, and when you feel hungry again, have a healthy snack.
