Can you lose body fat by not eating very much food for a week or so?

I think its called fasting or cleansing your body or something? Today I've only had a small slim jim and a salad and its almost supper time, I drink plenty of water and don't drink pop or anything that has sugar. Will I lose fat and weight if I keep this up for a week or so?

Actually, you lose more water weight and muscle tissue than fat when you cut calories to low (or out completely)...so there is some weight loss, but not so much fat loss...your body also tends to regain the lost weight (as fat) fairly quickly when you start eating again as it will store extra calories for future famines...

  • I've been fasting ever since I was a little girl, naturally that is. My body just tells me when I'm tired of food and I will not eat for 2 or 3 days. Of course I have to drink Juices and water but I don't have to eat. I am really fine. I notice it is really good to balance my mental health. My digestive system and to cleanse my stomach and just my entire being. I noticed that when I used to eat meats as a main course in a meal a lot then I would want to fast more. But now that I have a fish diet on the weekdays and whatever I want to eat during the weekends, then I fast less. I love fish! lolFasting to loose fat is very much possible. I will gain about 2lbs of fat over a span of maybe 6 months and when I fast for about 2 or 3 days every 3 months (this is my bodies natural rhythm, you'll have to find your bodies natural rhythm) I will loose about 1.5lbs of that body fat. I am a petite person, so this will vary depending on what body type you have. I wouldn't suggest fasting for a week. That is a long time to go without food and it begins to make your body unbalanced. If you're new to fasting, I wouldn't encourage that. Do this: Eat fish and romaine lettuce (mixed with corn, or beans, or your favorite healthy stuff ) during the week. Then on the weekends eat controlled portions of things you like, meats. Fast once every month for 2 to 3 days. You will start to notice a difference. Drink water and Juice like Orange juice to keep you alert. You can even drink Almond Milk...they have a chocolate flavored one that I LOVE! lolI wish you well on your weight loss, just don't be extreme, because extreme measures that push you past your limits will always have a reverse effect.
