Does birth control make you gain weight?

I'm 13 years old (NO. I'M NOT SEXUALLY ACTIVE.) and I have super bad acne. I've tried everything. Anything from the drugstore. I even went to the dermatologist 2 times and the stuff they gave me does NOT work.My stepmother told me that if we HAD to I could go on birth control to clear up my skin.I have a few questions for those of you who are on it.Did you gain weight?(I'm 5'0, 110 pounds. Can't afford to put on anymore.)Did your boobs get bigger?(Awkward, but I'm a B cup... Don't want them to grow, either.)Is it bad to take if you do long distance running? 3+ miles a day & sprints?Thank you so much for your help. I appreciate it (:

How to Lose Weight in Your Legs in a Week

Recommended Answer:

No, birth control pills do not cause weight gain: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/06/110607104927.htm(However, Depo Provera, the birth control injection, may be linked to weight fluctuations, due to the way it could potentially change your metabolism).Yes, your breasts may fluctuate in size during your cycle when on birth control: http://goaskalice.columbia.edu/does-taking-pill-increase-size-your-breastsNo, it's perfectly fine to take birth control pills and do long-distance running.Hope that helps!

Other Answers:

  • Yeah, it usually does cause some weight gain. It messes with your hormones and is generally not a good thing to start taking at your age. Sorry about your acne. Lots and lots of people have it and eventually it goes away.I don't think that birth control is a reasonable way to deal with acne. There are many better options that your dermatologist can discuss with you.
  • Since the side effects are different for everyone there is no way to guarantee your acne will clear up.I didn't gain any weight when on the pill, although I know it does happen to a small number of people. My breasts were still growing when I started taking the pill, but I'm pretty sure they didn't influence my breast growth at all.Exercise has nothing to do with birth control, so it isn't a bad thing at all.
  • 1. I did not.2. Unfortunately, not at all.3. I don't think exercise affects it
  • When I went on the pill after my first pregnancy, I did gain about 5 pounds. I'm 5'2" and about 118 lbs. So as you can imagine I did not need the extra weight. My boobs didnt get bigger. However, with proper exercise and diet (all healthy no starving or extremes) it came off after a few months.

Best Diet and Exercise while on Garcinia Cambogia Premium?

I am currently taking Garcinia Cambogia Premium and have been seeing good results, but I am hoping to improve the weight loss further if possible.

How to Lose Weight After Kids

Recommended Answer:

I agree, I also take Garcinia Cambogia Premium and it has been working wonderfully. As for the diet, I would recommend low calorie food that makes you full easily. Fish, poultry, eggs and soybeans would be good. As for the exercise, you don't have to do anything heavy. I just jog every morning for an hour and sometimes add a few crunches and pushups. Just simple exercises that you can do at home. Good luck!

  • I'm done with my weight loss journey and completely happy with how I feel and how I look right now however losing weight is a challenge for anyone and even losing 5 pounds and keeping it off isn't an easy task. Also I bet you didn't know that 5 pounds of fat is about the size of 8 cheese burgers? That alone should be enough to make anyone want to get on the ball and start a change for the better. Weight loss can be really easy to learn but the problem is nobody wants to put the required effort that is needed to actually do it, instead people continually look for (easy) ways to do it. If there was an easy way to lose weight I don't think 35% of Americans would be obese. There was a time when I also wanted to lose weight and was tired of starting diets only to lose motivation and give up just a few weeks later after seeing no results. However, let me tell you it is literally one of the easiest things you will ever learn once you find a good and reputable place to learn it from and I say that only because the world is filled with magic diet pills, liquid flush diets and a thousand other quick fixes that promise xx pounds of weight loss in the first week and even though it is impossible they know you're going to do it because your desperate. I have probably tried every diet pill, liquid flush diet, and ab rocket machine known to man and have had no success with any of them nor do I know anyone that has ever had any success with them. I have also tried starving myself which works very well for the first few weeks' right before your metabolism comes to a complete stop and eating just the tiny bit makes you gain weight and you end up weighing more than you did before you started starving yourself. Companies promote weight loss to make money not to get people healthy again and that's because they know you're not going to be a customer and buy their products if you're no longer fat. http://fatloossfactor.com is a site I want you to go to when you have 10 or 20 minutes to spare and I want you to sit down and watch his video on weight loss. He helps people every day to lose weight I have never seen someone as committed as him and that will go so far out of his way to help someone. His weight loss program is one of the best I have ever had the enjoyment of doing and it is without doubt the best success I have ever had with any weight loss program. I also couldn't be happier with my body right now and I have never felt this wonderful in my whole life. In the end you just got to remember to stick with it and stay confident in yourself and in no time you can achieve the results you have always wanted. It's not hard to lose weight but most people have a hard time staying motivated and 9 times out of 10 it was because they weren't really committed from the beginning. Anyways I hope I helped you and I hope you make the commitment to change your body and life. Remember it's not easy to take the first step but you did, you're here right now taking it and the rest of the steps will fall into place. Have a wonderful day.
  • I actually do not follow any diet with Garcinia Cambogia Premium since it has lost my eating appetite. What i normally do is exercise a bit for my arms and some push ups to keep the extra skin firmer.

Why Losing Weight Fast is Bad!

Recommended Answer:
Well people say it is not good to lose to much fast so losing 2 lb. a week is healthy. I would just do the math. If you lose 2 lb. a week it be 8 lb. a month. and you want to lose 49 pounds so it be about six months. That is if you lose 2 lb a week.

Also if you don''t like vegetables why not try V8 Fusion. Not the V8 as it is gross. I like the V8 Fusion strawberry banana.

  • It varies.

In all seriousness there have been human cultures that did not eat vegetables. Hundreds of generations of ice age people and Inuit, for example, never touched vegetables.

But if you''re not going to eat vegetables, you''d better live off fat and protein, as they did. Ie, meat and fish, dairy.
  • 1 year
  • Cut off your arm...you will lose 50 pounds real quick.

Otherwise, if you are going to be a bitch about the vegetables, then stay fat. I don''t care.
  • Good luck losing weight without vegetables. Vegetables are one of the biggest parts of losing weight, thats why salad is so popular. If your not gunna eat veggies you might not even wanna bother trying to lose weight quick. Its going to be a very slow and long process.

Are men to blame for anorexia?

Anorexia as in a perfectly healthy woman would want to lose weight. Not in a healthy way but by quick fixes or by starving themselves because men keep on saying no fat chicks and expressing their hatred towards women with any matter or substance.

And some men want to deny and say that girls call each other fat and men don''t. That is bs. Men always say they want slim women and say "no fat chicks"? Also men act like when women gain 20 lbs it is the end of the world for them.

Stop Trying to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
Are women to blame if a guy feels like a loser cus hes not rich?

  • Anorexia in eating disorders in women has nothing to do with men. It has to do with the self-image a woman creates for herself.
  • Sure why not. just blame men for everything. blame us for the food and the weather and a woman''s weight problems.
  • I think it''s more complicated than that. Our culture is to blame in the sense that both men and women are socialized and taught to value skinniness in women to an excessive extent. We all participate in it.
  • There can be many reasons a woman could develop anorexia. I don''t think men are the cause. There may be a few men here and there that contribute but I''ve seen even mothers cause it in their daughters, or low self images, public influences. All sorts of things. So it''s not a man caused illness, although it can be. I also know plenty of men who like a bigger female.
  • No, I find that a most men are not into bone thin women. They like women with enough meat and not to look super bone skinny, like Kate Upton. Anorexia is a mental illness and they see a fat person when they look in the mirror, even though they are super skinny. 20 lbs extra would not be a healthy weight. As long as your range is within the BMI limits, you are not classified as overweight. It makes sense that a guy would not be attracted to a women who was over her BMI (in the healthy weight range) because that exceeds the right amount of a persons normal weight. Being thin is a man''s physical preference. You can''t change that men are attracted to thin women. I don''t think most men are attracted to anorexic women. I think very few (if any) find that to be attractive.

It''s really no one elses fault but your own if you are genuniely unhappy in your own body. Nobody but you controls your diet. There will always be someone better looking than you. You are in control of what you eat, not men. Thumbing me down and blaming others will not solve your problems or get rid of them.

Almost everyone gets called fat, unless you are bone thin. Some women ignore it, some take it personally, and other''s cut back eating. The ones that take it to heart are the ones who have eating disorders.
  • It''s the media''s fault for pushing a unhealthy image to young women. However men do propagate it to by only going after girls who have the unhealthy looks and habits. It is also the parents faults for not teaching girls to have more self esteem. It''s also the girls fault for being to shallow to realize being skinny doesn''t matter that much.
  • no
  • So hold on. It is our fault that we find healthy slim women attractive, so women take that and resort to starving themselves? So we are not allowed to have a preference because "they" put their obssession of vanity over their well being?

This is absolutely ridiculous. You are basically saying men are bad people for having a preference, and I will bet my left nut you have "never" thought of giving a really fat guy the time of day romantically with yourself, yet expect men to do it for women.

What the hell is it with you and "20 lbs". It''s a very specific and repeatative thing you are saying. I can only assume that you gained 20lbs, and your partner left you for it, so now you are complaining on here about it.

Grow up. Men can like what they like. If that makes women resort to making stupid decisions, then that is their fault. We want healthy skinny, not anorexic skinny.
  • No....poor self image is to blame.
  • No, women can be just as judgmental to other women about body image

Can someone help with a work out routine? thanks :) best answer!?

Hi :)
So I want to lose 20 pounds, maybe probably a little less. I''m not really to big, but I have fat hips and not a lot of belly. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good exercises to get rid of belly and hip fat? A lot of it may be water weight, rather then just fat. I am already eating proper and drinking plenty of water. But I need exercises, that I can do at home, as I just got my cast off from surgery and I cannot quite run yet :( so I need some exercises just for now. I am trying to do this in 3 months for my grad. I have weights to work my upper body that''s all. I don''t have one of those exercise balls, but I do have a gym membership so I have access to all of that stuff.
Thankyou for any help :)
Will give best answer :)

Lose Weight With Herbal Products

Recommended Answer:
When it comes to losing weight, you cannot target any specific body part. The weight, no matter where it is coming from, will come off with cardio. Running, jogging, swimming, using the elliptical trainer, jump roping, etc...those will be the most in shedding fat. If you cannot run, I would suggest some jump roping or the elliptical trainer if you have access to one. Swimming at your local rec center or pool is great all around because it works your entire body.

Using exercise balls or doing weight training won''t help you lose weight. It will help you burn calories faster but only in conjunction with cardio exercises.

You''ll definitely want to go to the gym since you have membership. So just do any of the above that I mentioned. Cardio is most effective for weight loss when done with interval training.

Interval training can be done at your own pace at whatever you''re comfortable with. You set your own intervals. The only constants are: You should not do more than 20 min. of interval training per day, and you should not do interval training every day (do it every other day) because your body will get too used to it and the effect will not work anymore.

So here is my routine, as an example:
I like to jog/run so I do, for 20 minutes every other day, a 30 second run (as fast as I can handle) then a 1 minute walk. 30 second run, 1 minute walk, 30 second run, 1 minute walk, for 20 minutes. Then I cool down for 10 minutes with a slow-paced walk.

You can set an interval for yourself like a 1 minute run and a 2 minute walk. Just as long as your walk is longer than your run - and don''t let your walk be too long bc you don''t want your heart rate to drop too close to resting rate. Keep that heart rate up, but keep your run time less than your walk time per interval.

I''ve lost 25 lbs with this routine for the past year. Your diet is also important. I could lose more weight faster if I were more mindful of my diet...but if you eat healthy and keep a 1200-1500 calorie diet if you''re a woman (men, about 1900-2200 calories a day is good), you will lose the weight faster than I did. My average calorie intake per day is about 1700-1800 calories, I''m a woman, 5''4" so that''s a little much on my end.

Good luck!

  • Theres no spot fat loss or Specific toning exercise that works to reduce fat in one area.

If you want to loose fat (especiallt around your middle) you''ll need to cut out carbs and exercise hard to create a calorie deficit.

If you can''t run, swim. Swim daily + follow a ketogenic diet, the weight will drop off rapidly and you''d meet your goal within a month, providing you actually stick to this advise and diet and don''t give up.
  • well do lots of abb exercises lots of leg raises and keep your legs and torso off the ground and turn your torso left to right also look on youtube for abb exercises and you should do them about 5 days a week. :) good luck
  • When I work 14 hr jobs I find there''s no time to hit the gym so I downloaded the YourGym app on my ipad - its awesome! Perfect at home workouts with things I didn''t even ever think of!!! Also I like to a cleanse for any belly issues get the 7lbs in 7 days app or book!! Amazing juicing recipes!! Good luck :)

Eating is very complicated....?

Eat this, don''t eat that...they tell you to eat fish because its good for you NOW don''t eat fish because it has mercury in it. Fruit...eat your daily requirements of fruit..BUT it can be fattening and produce acid. Yogurt is good for you...but on the other hand if you are lactose intolerant. Be sure to drink your milk it will build strong bones...but, to many hormones/chemical/crap in it. Don''t eat meat....OH if you only knew what was in meat...what are we suppose to eat tree bark? Haven''t heard any complaints about that....

The Three Secrets to Lose Weight Fast

Recommended Answer:
You are not educated enough on the subject to fully understand, there is nothing wrong with this. I will explain why.

Fish: Most types of fish are good for you, the ones that are like salmon and bass have lots of omega-3''s and very little mercury. You should eat lots of these types of fish. But wait? There are different types?

Yes, there a bad types of fish like farmed tuna and talapia, shark meat, and shrimp. You shouldnt eat these are the time cause they have waaaay to much mercury. See were the confusion comes from? Only some are bad not all.

Fruit: Most are not fattening at all, but some have high sugar content. This is only bad if you eat waay to much of it. Acidic fruits should be avoided cause lots of people have stomach acid problems. But if your stomach is fine then you can eat all you want. Its not fruit that makes you fat. Its overeating and fruit juices that make you fat. Stay away from juice and only eat the real thing!

Yogurt: It does have some benefits but for most people it is actually bad. There is a lot of wrong information about yogurt. Yes it has probiotics and lots of vitamins. But its also a dairy product thats high in calories and fat. And most all yogurt companies add a bunch of refined sugars to it, this is why yogurt is bad. Yogurt is "okay" to eat but the downsides are worse than the benefits. Eat sparingly.

I am lactose intolerant and so is 15% of the world. There is not a single person in this world that needs dairy products to survive. You can live your entire live perfectly healthy and never eat yogurt or drink cows milk ever. (You are not lactose intolerant to your mothers milk, only animals). Dont drink milk, its horrible for you cause of all the added chemicals and its super high in fat (unless you drink skim, but skim still has chemicals). You dont need milk to build strong bones, dont listen to the stupid crap they try to teach you in school about nutrition, its wrong. Just ask any body builder.
All you need for strong bones is calcium+ vitamin D and exercise.

There is nothing bad in meat? Who are you listening too? Unless your eating crap like hotdogs and salami. This is called GMO MSM. This stands for genetically modified organisms and mechanically separated meats This is not supposed to be eaten. Obviously.

Real meat is 100% fine to eat. As long as its real cut meats like pork chops, steaks, tenderloins, chicken (only with the bones, dont eat that boneless crap unless its 100% chicken breast bought from the store, not fast food they are lairs) turkey and fish. There is nothing wrong with eating this as long as you know it was not genetically modified and grass fed (no eating corn fed animals).

If you want to eat right you must eat a paleolithic diet. The same way ancient man (cavemen) eat. Bottom line every thing you eat must be natural and either grow out of the ground (fruits and vegetables) or eat the plants that grow out of the ground or other animals (animals like cows, pigs and chickens). No refined grains or even whole grains (no sliced bread or crackers or any bread really) nothing prepackaged (no chips or Doritos) no refined sugars (soda pops and anything with added sugar) and little to ZERO dairy.

If you want to learn more about eating a paleolithic diet follow the link below. This is not a diet for just losing weight, this is a diet for feeling amazing and actually being as healthy as possible, just like people ate 10,000 years ago.

Yea I know it sounds hard to eat like this cause what your not allowed to eat is 90% of whats in grocery stores, but if you struggle with your weight and your health I promise you your number 1 problem are breads and grains, #2 is added sugars. Stop that and the fat of your body will die like AIDS patients (no offence). I am living proof. Ive eaten like this for 21 days and ive lost 30 lbs, and I eat until im STUFFED!

http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2010/10/04/the-beginners-guide-to-the-paleo-diet/

http://robbwolf.com/what-is-the-paleo-diet/

But you must work out if you want to lose weight fast (if your a girl, cause im not and I havent been working out at all in 3 weeks). Eating right is a good start.

  • I am with you all the way on this....I really am. This is the one area of fitness that is just overwhelming and confusing at times. I would recommend checking out nutritiondata.com. It''s a great resource to see what''s in the food you eat. Best of luck to you!
  • Ha ha, eating can be complicated, but you have to look at your sources of information.
Fish is good for you because it is high in protein, usually lower in fat and can have Omega-3 fatty acids which are better fats for you than others (Don''t forget, fat is still fat so you don''t want a lot of it). Not all fish are high in mercury. Fish like salmon and pollock are lower in mercury and can be eaten with out worry but certain fish like shark and large tuna have high mercury and should be eaten in moderation.

Fruit is good for you, it has a lot of nutrients and minerals and a source of sugars. Not many fruit is high in fat, the most common exception being avocado.

Milk and yogurt is good for you. If you''re lactose in tolerant it just means your body can''t digest the lactose in dairy which causes you to become bloated and gassy. Dairy''s big health benefit is Calcium and Vitamin-D. A lot of lactose free milk, or dairy or yogurts are now fortified with this so they can be just as good.

If you''re worried about what is in your food, buy organic or locally grown.

Is There an Easy Way to Lose Weight?

Recommended Answer:
The term hardgainer is used to describe someone who lifts weights but
sees very little, or no, tangible results. Most hardgainers are not
hardgainers at all. They are simply people who don''t know how to do
the things right.
So, then, what can you do to get results?
Training Techniques. Many lifters go into the gym and perform the same
workout, with the same weight, over and over again, and wonder why the
results never come. Achieving the results you want isn’t difficult.
Simply make sure you are using Compound Exercises. Make sure that the
majority of exercises in your program are compound exercises. Compound
lifts include: squats, deadlifts, overhead press, bench press,
pullups, dips, rows, stiff-leg deadlifts, etc. Compound exercises are
the key to building strength and muscle. Isolation work, cable work,
pec deck flyes, and most machines won’t give you the results you want.
Progression. Keep a log of your workouts. Every time you exercise, try
to perform more reps than the last time. And when you hit the “rep
ceiling” for that particular exercise (anywhere from 6-20 reps), add
more weight the next time you lift. To make strength and muscle gains,
you must always be pushing for more reps and more weight. Sticking
with the same weight isn’t doing anything. Your body adapts quickly to
current workloads, and you will stop gaining muscle.
Do NOT train to failure. Training to failure is unnecessary, and taxes
the body. Try to stop one rep short of positive failure. Basically,
keep performing reps until you’re not sure you can perform another
rep, and then quit. It is not positive failure that makes you bigger
or stronger, it is the increased workload that comes from progression.
De-loading Periods. When your body feels over-trained, run down, very
sluggish, and/or you have nagging joint aches and pains from an
extended period of training, it is time to de-load. A de-load period
can be one or two weeks, and requires you to hit the gym and perform
your same routine, but using 30-40% weight, or 30-40% fewer reps. A
de-loading period will allow your body to retain its fitness level,
while you recover from fatigue.
Diet. You cannot train properly and then eat junk. Your body needs
the proper raw materials to grow.
Protein. Make sure you are eating enough protein. It is best to eat
5-6 smaller meals each day, spaced 2.5-3 hours apart. During each
meal, try to eat at least 25-30 grams of quality protein. It is also a
good idea to mix up your protein choice (eggs and chicken, seafood and
beef and so on).
Meals. Smaller, healthy meals keep a constant stream of muscle
building nutrients flowing through your system. Try to eat smaller
meals every 2.5-3 hours.
Calories. To grow, you can’t be under-eating. Estimate your lean
body mass (weight without body fat) with a skin-fold caliper, and then
multiply that number by 21. This is a good base daily caloric intake
to start with. For example, if your lean body mass is 150 pounds,
multiply 150 * 21, and you find that you need to eat a minimum of
3,150 calories each day. Of course, every person’s metabolism is
different. If you are losing weight, add 200-500 more daily calories
and see what happens over the course of the next two months. If you
are gaining too much fat, cut back the calories for a couple of
months. Always rely on your lean body mass (via a skin-fold caliper)
to help you decide your best course of action.
Zig zag. It is also a good idea to eat slightly more (200-500
calories) on training days. This zig zag effect assists your body in
gaining weight while minimizing, or negating fat gains.
Follow these simple rules, and you will see results. Train hard, train
heavy, train with compound movements, and eat right.

  • you are probably hyperthyroid or have graves disease, you will find it impossible to build muscle or put on weight if that is the case
  • basicall, on the days u r bodybuilding u need to eat an extra 400 chalories. If ur skinny, an dont eat enough to fuel yr muscles, there is no way they will grow, eat chicken, fish, eggs an milk . Also drink protein shakes after a workout. u need those extra calories fr muscle growth xx
  • If you''re a hard gainer like myself, gaining muscle will take a LONG time, and that is just a fact of life. Keep working out (check out scoobysworkshop.com for some good advice and workouts) and give it some solid time and the gains will come.
  • Your workout is high in repetition and that is the reason why you are not gaining weight. Also, you will need to take into account your activity level as well as your age and puberty possibly if you want to ensure that you get a high calorie diet to help you grow. Lastly, sleep is always a key people do wrong and that is what separates the pros or success from all who tried.

I would suggest eating a high calorie diet instead of one filled with fat is because your body only requires a certain amount of fat which you can possibly get from the excess calories from your carbohydrate. I also do not suggest so much protein as a fuel source as it leaves behind nitrates which can be put your kidneys and liver under unnecessary stress. I would suggest eating things like potatoes, biscuits, pasta, noodles, rice and bread in order to get the high calorie diet from carbohydrates. If fixing 6 meals up can be a problem due to the lack of time or if you are looking for something more convenient, I would suggest looking to drink 500ml of milk in between your meal for a total of 3 times a day. Increase the amount of milk you drink by 100ml for each serving every week if you realize that you do not gain weight after a week of effort.

The next thing to get right is definitely sleep even before exercise. This is because even if you have the best workout and you get improper rest or insufficient amount of it, chances are this will cause you to lose weight and fall sick. One particular fact most people do not get right is definitely quality. Quality sleep means you need to sleep and wake up all by yourself. This can be difficult but I will still encourage you to do it on the weekend if possible and sleep the scheduled amount of hours on the weekdays when you are busy.

The workout is the main trigger to help you gain weight. This is done by using the workout at http://gohforth.com which I have seen many of my clients used and see effective results. The result of gaining 1 pound every week is quite possible as this workout will help you to trigger major muscles and help with progressive weight gain with little to no down time.

First keep doing exercises as doing exercises is the best way to lose any extra pounds in our body. Second keep away from foods that cause gaining weight such as Pepsi, potato chips, chocolates, rice.

  • You can cardio exercises.
    Drinking more water.
    Running is good for you.
You could try a body wrap.It will very effective and good for you.
    Eat more fresh friuts.
Try yoga. It will beneficial for you.
  • yoga is suppose to be good, but also be careful what exercises your doing because if you ''strenghten'' your legs, theyll get bigger because the muscle builds up under the gross fat. you could also try leg lifts. any kind would be good but i say the side leg lift. You can also try the brazilian butt lift, im planning on getting it soon (its a lot of freakin money) but the results i saw people having were awsome: thigh gap, awsome legs and butts (lol).
