Recommended Answer:

Eating 500 calories or less will make u fat.. your metabolism will backfire then anything u eat will turn to fat.. you need to find out your maintenance level and cut 500 calories form that

Other Answers:

  • 3500 calories is a pound. And don't be dumb starving yourself lowers your metabolism making you burn fat slower than you already do. Just do intense exercise. In 2 hours I was able to burn about 1000 so do lot of cardio work and in about a week if you go almost everyday you'll have worked that pound off
  • You binged because you're not getting enough calories. 500 is not healthy, you should be getting at a minimum 1200 calories a day. Frequent bingeing is not healthy and will cause bloating, a healthy diet with adequate calories and nutrition will bring you to a healthy weight!
  • Megan you need to compromise. 500 is too little for you to be eating and 3000 is too much so what say we reach a middle ground of 1600 to 1800. My guess is that you are pretty active and given your age growing as well which all needs energy. If you eat less your body is self sacrificing and that is not a good thing. On the other hand when you eat more than you need, all that is absorbed by your body will be stored as yep fat for a rainy day when you only eat 500. So the best way to win this is to eat a healthy diet and enough to maintain you weight. The most important thing here is you Megan, and as long as you are a good person, with healthy eating habits and exercise habits you will feel good, healthy and attractive. Smile and the world will smile back. All the best and keep us posted.

Did I do enough today?

Okay so I am trying to lose weight...I''m 5''9 and 135 pounds but I want to get down to 115-120.

I ate: (all vegan, from a vegan cafe)
-large plate of mashed potatoes (at least 3 scoops)
-three triangular pieces of apple-baked tempeh
-gravy on top of half, peanut sauce on the other half
and...
-one piece of Dove chocolate
-zip fizz energy drink (10cal)

For my workout, I did:
-30min on elliptical (low intensity, higher speed)
-20min jogging on track
-20min walking

Do you think I burned off that meal? I''m worried...especially about how many calories were probably in that lunch...

Lose Weight Fast - How NOT to Lose Weight Fast!

Recommended Answer:
Vegan does not mean that every food choice that remains is healthy, nutritious, or even good for weight loss. What you listed for today does not look good regrettably.

- potatoes = starch/carbs, not very nutritious either. Let me put it this way, endurance athletes (e.g. marathoners, triathletes, etc.) that do not eat grains, eat potatoes as their go-to replacement for carb loading. I do not know how much is a scoop, but anything more than one scoop sounds like overdoing it. That is not to say you should restrict what you eat, but instead I think you should eat something else as well during this meal (no vegetables are listed, or fruits).

- tempeh = awesome choice, I do not know about the quantity because I am not familiar with the portion size and the cafe you are talking about, but certainly good for protein and fiber.

- most gravies are basically nutritionless, peanut sauce must have peanuts in it which are great but only in moderation. Bear in mind that all nuts (although peanuts are technically legumes) are high in fats, and even though they are healthy fats, you have to balance your intake. I am guessing tons of sugar is in this though. Watch out for sodium too.

- the darker the chocolate the better, but candy is candy.

- I do not know what that drink is, but if you want to lose weight it is easier to cut out carbonated beverages.

What matters here is not just calories, what matters is a lot more. I really recommend you read more about how to eat healthy if you are serious about losing weight. Your sugar and sodium intake plays a huge role in your weight management as well. If you are overweight, you can lose weight just by counting calories, but if you are regular weight (or under based on your height), you would have to be unheathily drastic in your calorie deficit. If you are one of those people who sees their weight fluctuate wildly from day-to-day, the cause is likely linked to sodium consumption. You have to watch everything, not just calories.

how much you burned depends on a lot of factors, but generally for people around your weight I would guess the following figures:

- 20 minute walking ~ 60 calories
- 20 minute jogging ~ 180 calories if you were jogging at say, 5.5 mph (which is what I always see girls running at)

- 30 minute elliptical ~ 250 calories given you had low intensity (which can only mean low resistance I guess). You know, an elliptical is really only reported to be advantageous over running if you set it at a resistance high enough to make it have an effect. Otherwise, it is more like a carnival ride than it is a workout. You can feel it when you burn more or less calories, so if it felt easy, then you did not need to use that much energy (calories are a unit of energy).

If you are on machines, do not take the numbers that seriously, even if you enter in your age and weight information, machines just have poor calculations.

I would recommend you eat more veggies, fruits, and whole, unprocessed foods if you want to take advantage of a vegan diet. Beyond that, you should be taking supplements to cover all the deficits that are just so hard to fill from just a vegan diet.

It does not sound like you burned it off. Three scoops (or a large plate) worth of mashed potatoes sounds like at least 400 calories, three pieces of tempeh are appreciable, and the not-so-secret devastators of any meal are sauces/gravies.

You did not really do 70 minutes of cardio, you did 50 minutes, I do not think walking counts when you are not overweight given how little energy it takes.

Much of what you consumed sounds like empty calories. It is the empty calories that make you gain weight, those are the kinds that are wasteful for your body, so it just stores them instead of using them for anything. That is the definition of weight gain.

  • Lay off the mashed potatoes next time. They might be vegan, they''re still not healthy no matter how good they taste.
  • Whoa whoa whoa there sweet heart. If you are trying to lose weight you shouldnt be taking in that many carbs. You need to be on a high protein, low calorie plan. I am a motivation coach and I created a 30 day challenge that will definitely help you. It free so no worries, there are no risks involved (: Go to www.YoungNhealthy.com and click on the 30 day challenge tab! I hope this helps (:
  • You did an hour and 10 minutes of cardio so you probably burned off the meal, especially if you ate it before 3pm. My concern long term is that you are not using a weight training program to assist you in burning calories more efficiently & even when you are not in the gym.

    Good day, though.

ok to anyone that beleaves eating a 1300 calorie diet is to little read this artical?

i just got told by adrian bryant a american athlete, personal trainer, fitness author, blogger and entrepreneur that i could eat 1300 calories a day in exercise but he recommends exercising before eating now this is a guy that really knows his stuff on fitness in for anyone that beleaves that you would go into starvation mode at 1300 like i said look at this artical http://www.nowloss.com/starvation-mode-myth.htm then tell me what you think

Walking to Lose Weight - Fitness Tips For Any Season

Recommended Answer:
No, he's just dispelling the myth of 'starvation mode', which basically implies you do not lose body fat when you eat too little. The reality is you most certainly do lose body fat, but you also lose large amount of lean (muscle) mass, as is evident from the photos in the article of the starving men. I personally would rather lose weight gradually, maintain as much lean mass as possible, and look fit and healthy rather than a concentration camp victim. Eating 500 calories below maintenance is what is recommended for fat loss. That means for the average man who burns roughly 2500 calories a day, 2000 calories will result in a loss of 1lb fat per week. The average woman who burns around 2000 calories a day can lose 1lb per week on 1500 calories a day.

What workout should i add to my day?

I am 21years old, 228lbs and 5`09. I work in a leather mill. Its always hot. I never sit down. I basicly walk and lift deer skins all day. The only time i sit is on break which is only 15 mins. I work anywhere from 8-12hrs a day depending on how busy we are. I am trying to get my wieght to at least 200lbs. I have started eating better and i have started losing wieght. I start at 240lbs 2 months ago. I am wondering if i should add a workout to my daily routine and which workout. I eat about 1200-1500 calories a day.

Best Exercise to Lose Weight For You

Doing an effective whole body conditioning and weight loss workout
can be done entirely at home without any fancy equipment. A couple of
dumbbells is all you will need. (Even if you don't have dumbbells
there is usually something lying around the house that is heavy enough
to substitute in for them).
Here is a list of 20 exercises you can do right in your own home for
a great whole body conditioning and fat loss workout.

Exercises:

Group 1:

Bodyweight Squats
Bulgarian Split Squats
Y-Squats
Prisoner Squat
Reverse Lunge
Step Ups
One Leg "Get Ups"

Group 2:

Push Up and Point
Mountain Climbers
Decline Push Ups
Push Ups/Stick Ups
Step Up and Press
Squat and Press

Group 3:

Plank

One Leg Deadlifts

Pick one exercise from each group and do them all back to back for a
mini circuit of 3 exercises. Do each exercise for a timed interval of
10 seconds for a total of 30 seconds per mini circuit.
As you get better at them work up to doing each exercise for 20
seconds for a total of 60 seconds per mini circuit.
Take 30-60 seconds rest between mini circuits.
For beginners do a total of 3 mini circuits to start. Working up to 4
or 5 as you get better at them.
Once you're ready to move to the next level add a second mini circuit
by choose 3 different exercises (one from each grouping). Do your
second mini circuit with the same time of work to rest ratio as your
fist.
If you feel you are already at an advanced level you can add one or
two more mini circuits up to a total of 4 mini circuits. These 20
exercises are just an example of what is possible, there are dozens
more that would work in this mini circuit style, you can incorporate
any exercise that you like into these mini circuits. This style of
workout is a great complete whole body conditioning and fat loss

Foods to Lose Weight Healthily

Recommended Answer:
Well, first of all, you are a normal 13 year old girl. When we look at ourselves in the mirror we tend to only see the imperfections. That is NOT a good thing. By seeing ourselves only for the problems we want to fix we miss a lot of perfect parts. This tends to lead to eating disorders, unhealthy eating habits and even obesity. You are at an age where everything is changing so quickly from week to week, and it is changing for all of your friends as well. This is a very critical time in setting good habits. Go to your doctor for a physical evaluation before starting any type of weight loss regime, eat 4-5 small meals throughout the day as opposed to 3 normal sized meals and always drink plenty of fluids. Preferably water, and exercise sensibly. I am a 66 year old nurse, I am also an x bulimic (I threw up to maintain a low body weight) since age 9. I am 5'9+" tall and at age 32 I was hospitalized for a collapsed stomach and I weighed 78 pounds. If anyone were to ask me that very day what I would love to do, I'm sure I would have replied "lose this stomach". It was a very trying time in life , very secretive, very lonely and extremely misleading with my personality. You don't ever want to be like I was honey. It has been 23 years since I was like that, and today if someone were to ask me what I would like to do with my appearance, I am sure I would say "lose this stomach!" Although we will NEVER see ourselves as others do we have to realize the number on the scale is nobody's friend so I suggest not weighing yourself, ever! If you feel comfortable in your clothing great if not then address the problem. Keep a journal of the foods you eat their values and the exercise plan to burn it off. Never deprive yourself of any food you truly enjoy because you are afraid of gaining weight. You are at an age where it is important to get enough nutrients into your body to deal with it's changes. If you rob yourself of enjoying your meals you won't be happy or thin. Depression actually assists in weight gain, why? lack of exercise. Zumba/Sumba (not sure of the correct spelling) dance is the exercise of choice for anyone wanting to address any part of their body they are not happy with. It is invigorating, fast paced and extremely effective and the results start to show immediately. Give it a shot that tummy will be flat as can be by next month guaranteed. But remember this is a routine you must stick to if you have weight issues, like food and want the healthy approach to this. If you find that this is too difficult for you take it back a bit, you don't have to lose all your weight in one day right? If for any reason you feel you are leaning toward a distorted body image causing you to make unhealthy choices, please, I can't stress this enough, please seek medical attention. I will keep an eye out for you asking questions in that direction and I will be right here giving my hard learned advice. Your body is a beautiful thing, protect it, guard it with your heart and your heart will thank you for it by letting you feel beautiful all the time ok. So you go for that physical, get a journal, write down your positive and negative points and the approach you plan to use to correct it. Run it by the doctor, if all is well with your physical health and you get the go ahead for your plans, go for it, knock yourself out. Make every minute of flattening that tummy of yours enjoyable, and not all "Mexican" food is bad for you generally it is the procedure used to prepare it that causes the calories to soar to those delicious levels right. So learn good preparation and good eating/exercise habits and enjoy life to the fullest. You are in my prayers. Good luck to you. Cleo

  • you can do this by doing HIIT training ( high intensity interval training ). It's a training method which raises your heart rate to its max and you burn calories long after you've finished training. An example is whilst on a treadmill or road, run as fast as you possibly can for 30 seconds or a minute and then very slow jog/ walk for 2 minutes and repeat 6 times !
  • Liposuction
  • Play basketball
    Go swish some 3's
  • Here's what you should do:

    - Go 5 - 7 times a week to the gym and run on the treadmill for 45 - 60 mins (try not to rest a lot)
    - In the gym, you wanna get really sweaty, so don't run slow, run fast!

    - Instead of eating 3 BIG meals a day, eat 6 SMALL meals a day. Don't be afraid to eat a lot of break fast because your body needs a good amount of food in the morning.

    - Eat LOTS of fruits and vegetables.

Sleep 9.5 hours to 11 hours every night.

You'll lose weight in no time ;)
  • Running is going to help lose weight but you got to do some kind of ab workout to get the flat belly. Drink water when youre thirsty or going to eat and if you get hungry in between meals eat some fruit. Dont go eat some junk food and you say youre family eat meat almost all the time. Eating meat isnt bad but cut down on your calories.
  • If your not into working out simple ways to loose weight. With out really changing your life style is cut all pop and beer out but I hope your don't drink since your only 13. And simply replace that with water. I weigh the same and just did what I told you to do I dropped 20 pounds by drinking water. I'm 21 and have a kid so it's even harder for me to loose wight so I know this will work for you. Also walking is soooooo good for you. And just keep in your mind that if you really want to loose weight then your stick to the diet you give your self. Have have to work for it if you really want it

Does the zumba wii game really work? & if so, how long should it take to lose 70 lbs?

I just recently started going to Planet Fitness, & I want to lose almost 100 lbs. I go 4 days a week for about 2.5 hours. How long should it take to lose this much weight with going to the gym and the zumba workout wii game.

Fastest Way to Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
Losing weight is one of main problem for some people. If you are one of them, there are many ways to lose weight, You can go to the gym, or control your diet. However, there is actually a medication for that. It is called the ACAI. ACAI is a world known preparation, which is used in order to help people lose excess weight. The preparation is 100% natural thus the possibility of side-effect appearance is very low. ACAI should be used in combination with a healthy diet and physical exercise in order to achieve the maximum effect. It is effective. You can get it at livehealthmart.com

  • You would have to go through an extreme lifestyle makeover to lose 40 lbs by June. And I don't think you can do it. You don't have the patience or the will power and I'm basing that just on the way you wrote this question. You're not willing to put in the hard work, so you see no results and then move on to the next thing you think might work.

Cut your caloric intake by 500. Exercise 6 times a week for at least 45mins. Do at least 25 mins of cardio and 20 mins of weight training/calisthenics.

If you can keep that up for 5 months, you will have lost around 35lbs.
  • The best way is NOT quick. Studies have shown that weight lost quickly is usually regained quickly. Go for a steady loss of 1-2 pounds per week. This is a sustainable pattern that builds an eating habit you can maintain, and thus maintain the weight loss.

There is no easy weight loss. If it were easy, there wouldn't be obese people - nobody really wants to have those problems. It takes discipline and effort, and not a little patience. However, if you really want to turn your life around, the effort is definitely worth it!

Find a buddy for accountability. I'd suggest someone who has already lost weight. They'll understand what you're going through and will understand the benefits and how good it feels!
