How can one reset their appestat?

I feel as if I have lost the ability to feel full. Is there an eating program (not a diet) that can help people get back in touch with their hunger/appetite signals? I am just slowly overcoming an eating disorder and I think getting my stomach to be able to feel that "full" feeling again would greatly help my recovery. If anyone has any suggestions It would be very much appreciated.

It may be dangerous for me to recommend an approach without understanding what kind of eating disorder you've recovered from. I am not a medical professional, so my opinions are based upon my own experience with food addiction. This may or may not apply in your situation.None the less, there some general guidelines for healthy eating that apply to the vast majority of people. It's very helpful to consume a balance of nutrients without overdoing rich foods such as dairy (milk, cheese, eggs, yogurt), meat (beef, pork, poultry, fish), salt, sugar, fat, caffeine, alcohol, refined oils, and food additives. The optimal diet for humans is a Whole Food, Plant Based (WFPB) diet as recommended by the top nutrition researchers in the world including: T. Colin Campbell, Neal Barnard, and Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr.If you have a tendency to overeat, a balanced WFPB diet will eliminate the addiction to junk food and provide you with very filling fiber and phytonutrients. The biochemistry involved in overeating and food addiction is very well explained in the following book:"Breaking the Food Seduction: The Hidden Reasons Behind Food Cravings---And 7 Steps to End Them Naturally" by Neal D. BarnardThe advantage of whole plant based foods is the fact that the fiber makes your stomach feel full and the phytonutrients give you a feeling of satisfaction. I personally follow a week long water fast (consuming only water) once every six months or so, under the careful supervision of a medical professional. This resets my appetite. It is safe if your blood work and other vitals are carefully monitored by a knowledgeable medical professional. For more information, read:"Fasting and Eating for Health: A Medical Doctor's Program for Conquering Disease" by Joel Fuhrman (Author) , Neal D. Barnard (Foreword) It's the WFPB diet that allows for rapid weight loss, but fasting helps patients learn to sense real hunger versus symptoms of withdrawal from addicting food like substances. Again, work with a medical professional who understands fasts. Some clinics offer resort like settings to teach you everything you need to do to follow a healthy diet. From a psychological perspective, it's very helpful to understand how we are genetically programmed to eat. I recommend the following book:"The Pleasure Trap: Mastering the Hidden Force that Undermines Health & Happiness Paperback"by Douglas J. Lisle (Author) , Alan Goldhamer (Author) I hope that this information will be of help to you.

How do I gain muscle with a very high metabolism?

I am 20 yearsold, 6'1, and I constantly weight between 170-175 pounds no matter what I do. If I am constantly working out I stay the same. If I sit around like a lazy bum and down donuts I still am between 170-175.

If you're an ectomorph (very thin/skinny) or near ectomorph you will have difficulty gaining weight because of your somatype, not because of metabolism. So, if you want to change that and add some pounds there are two ways to do it. Both may work and neither may work. Your success is going to ultimately depend on your body chemistry which is inherited (genetic).FATThe difference between naturally fat and naturally thin people is the number of fat cells in their body. An endomorph may have as many as 250 billion adipocytes (fat cells) while the ectomorph may only have about 50 billion. There's no way to change your total adipocytes or their distribution throughout your body. How fat or thin you are has almost nothing to do with metabolism. You can try adding fat by eating more food. You should eat a proper diet which is about 50/20/30 (%calories from carbs/fats/protein respectively) and just consume more food. You should NOT eat junk food, increase your carbs, take supplements, consume more fat, etc. Just eat a proper, well balanced diet in increase the portions (serving sizes). If you are able to add body fat, you will have no control over where the fat goes or how it looks. In other words, the result could be "skinny fat" which is probably less appealing aesthetically than skinny. And, of course, if you don't like the fat, you'll just have to lose it to get back to where you were.MUSCLEYou can try adding muscle. It is always good to try to add muscle because muscle is the best metabolic investment you can make. Here are some of the benefits of strength training.• Stronger bones & increased mineral density (osteoporosis protection)• Stronger body & musculature (improved protection from injury)• More robust organic and systemic fitness (more survivable in crisis) • Improved cardio-vascular function (better than "cardio")• Higher basal metabolic rate (~5-50 cal/day/pound of muscle)• Easier fat loss (more efficient lipid consumption)• Greater calorie consumption (prolonged afterburn)• Supports body sculpting (hypertrophy)• Slows natural loss of muscle mass (sarcopenia) over age 30Adding muscle is a very slow and difficult process. Watch this video for more about that ---> http://www.youtube.com/user/scooby1961#p/search/0/Xcuhi6RaZ24 . On average males can add no more than about a pound of muscle per month and females can add about 20% less and that is only under ideal circumstances which are rare. However, if you're a teen, you may find adding muscle to be almost impossible because you will not have your lifetime maximum of testosterone (the muscle building hormone) until about your mid20s. Adding muscle means very intense (and painful) training for a few hours per week and usually requires a gym or gym facilities. It also requires some understanding of how to train (exercise physiology, kinesiology, muscle anatomy, etc) which usually means some time spent with a personal trainer. Adding muscle is a difficult and long term process and, once the muscle is added, the training must continue to maintain the muscle.Ectomorphism is an unhappy an occurrence because being very thin can effect self esteem and inhibit social interaction. However, the ectomorph will usually, in adult life, find it easier to achieve and maintain an ideal or close to ideal body weight because people naturally tend to grow fatter and/or more robust as they grow older....especially with proper diet and training. In other words, being underweight now may be paying it forward. You may reap the benefits with a nice body while your midlife peers are fighting the battle of the bulge.Note - Do not use pills, tonics, supplements, shakes, or other products which claim they can help increase body weight without first checking with your doctor. The scammers are very much aware of the plight of the ectomorph and there are scores or companies with products and advertising all designed to capitalize on your misfortune for their profit. Don't be a sucker. So, they may not be ideal. But those are your two options. Fat and/or muscle. Now, read this --> http://www.eatright.org/Public/content.aspx?id=6852#.UDnVaKAUOFAGood luck and good health!!♠

Well, if your interested in a challenging yet gentle and big breed horse, I'll give you a list of a few and tell you about them!(:Saddlebred:Averaging 15 to 17 hands (60 to 64 inches, 152 to 163 cm) in height, averaging in 15 to 16 hands. Though I have ridden and worked with many 17-18hh saddlebreds before! Saddlebreds are known for their sense of presence and style, as well as for their spirited, yet gentle, temperament. The breed have well-shaped heads with a straight profile, long, slim, arched necks, well-defined withers, sloping shoulders, correct leg conformation, and strong level backs with well-sprung ribs. They are used in saddleseat, but are very flexible. My own saddlebred happens to compete over large fences in hunters and XC as well as a great hunter flat horse or basic dressage! There incredibly gorgeous, especially I there movemnts and have a lot of energy and high spirit but very light. Awesome horses!Friesian: The breed's conformation resembles that of a light draft horse, Friesians are graceful and nimble for their size. The breed has powerful overall conformation and good bone structure, with what is sometimes called a "Baroque" body type. Friesians have long, arched necks and well-chiseled, short-eared, "Spanish-type" heads. They have powerful, sloping shoulders, compact, muscular bodies with strong, sloping hindquarters and low-set tails. Their limbs are comparatively short and strong. Overall the breed is a great driving kind of horse for its flashy movement or road hack. They are big power houses and are good for any fast paced flat disciplines. However, the breed is very strong and aggressive. A good type of rider is someone who is light in he seat an bridle, but can control. Your a rough rider, which can sometimes set off stronger horses like this breed for they need controlling yet careful riders! They are fun otherwise and wild!Other bold breeds that are gentle yet powerful and big are warmbloods, Oldenburg's, holsterins etc...

  • What's the point if you only ride him/her once a week? You probably wouldn't have a great bond, and if you are doing heights, and you only ride the horse once a week/6 days of turnout, the horse might not be AS fit for heights as you hope (he probably can reach them), if you only exercise him/her once a week/have any physical exertion for the horse. Turn out is just to get rid of the extra energy, but they won't "work out"And you won't be able to check in on your horse, which you probably should doIf you want a horse, just look up the breeds, and read about their specialties

Eating and still losing weight?

I was diagnosed with IBS and gastritis about a month ago and a month before that I had lost 10 pounds because I was always nauseous. I was put on Levsin, which has helped tremendously, I am eating normally (probably more than before) again and am still losing weight. I've always been average weight for my height and the Levsin is the only thing I'm doing differently and I started taking that about a month and a half ago. I googled it and can't find weight loss as one of the side effects so has anyone else had this experience with Levsin? And if it makes a difference, my gallbladder was taken out 2 years ago.

Go to one of the sites such as www.myfitnesspal.com and record your food and calories and exercise for a few days and see where you stand. Maybe you are not eating as many calories as you think. And Levsin can cause nervousness and excitability which could conceivably lead to some weight loss.

3 Wonders Why Using Hypnosis to Lose Weight is Effective

Curves complete offers meal plans, exercise, and coaching and you can expect your member fee for the 3 month plan to be $199. You only need to pay 100, I believe, up front, and you can work with your coach to pay the other 99 over the course of your three month plan.

6 month you could be looking anywhere from 300-400, but keep in mind this plan is for HALF a year, and your coach will be there for you to motivate you and track your progress. You will meet once a week for this. I was about 15 pounds over weight, and lost about 10 of it! :)
