What are my best options for 50-70 pounds of weight loss?

Let me start with my basic stats. I'm 24, 5'4, 199-205 pounds. (Yes, 199-205. It's basically a different number every single day. Yes, I am also a scale addict.) Now that that is out of the way. This may be a lot to read, but bare with me and please try to read it all. My highest weight was 230. That was last June, 2012. I lost that solely with stress alone. Nothing I did to contribute, but I welcomed the weight (on the scales, anyway) with open arms. The weight was very obvious on the scale and photos, but I still wear the same exact clothes I had one year ago. Next, I've spent years trying to research every single weight loss tip I could get my hands on. I went to Disney World recently and after being outside in the horrid Florida humidity for 13+ hours a day and walking every where, I managed to drop from 211-198. BOY my surprise when I weighed 198. I felt amazing. I haven't weighed 198 in a very very long time. Since then, the scale has ranged back up to 205. I'm sure that has something to do with me being inside back at work all day and not walking every place I go. Now, to the point... I WANT/NEED to lose weight. Need is more like it. My physical and mental health pretty much depend on it. Not that I have any physical issues at this point, I'm sure as I age, they will come. My goal weight is about 140 pounds. I will try to see as I go which weight makes me healthy and not just skinny. WHERE do I START? I've read cleansing, clean eating, low carb, no meat, 500 calories a day, don't eat after 7, don't eat before 6, don't workout too much, don't get to intense, don't hold out on workouts, do workout for 7 days a week, don't have cheat days, make sure you have cheat days! Seriously... I know this question has been asked and seriously abused, but from this point, I have done my research and I end up back here just reading instead of doing. I am to blame, but I am also asking simply for the best advice. I prefer answers from people who have been here or helped those who have. If you've always been fit and thin, you may be rolling your eyes saying "you should have known you were too big years ago." FYI, just an added note, I've been over 180 pounds since the age of 14. I work 12 hours a day. I'm typically up around 4 am to get ready for work and I go to bed about 9. That's about 7 sleep hours a day... My questions are - What advice do you have? What did you do to kick start your weight loss? How long should I set my goals up for? Should I start and online blog to find support? Thank you if you're still with me!Female! Sorry.

The Best Way to Lose Weight With Hypothyroidism

I lost 170 lbs. in the Pool over 16 months at the beginning of my weightloss journey because I was unable to support my own body weight. I used ankle weights and wrist weights with webbed fingered gloves to create resistance as I got stronger. (Mostly walking in the therapy pool) as the weight started coming off I added in weight resistance weights, dumbbells, etc, and also swimming laps. Also you can switch to herbal or ayurvedic medicines which are very useful and will help you in losing your weight up to a great extent, these medicines have no side effects even if you take them for long time and i myself had its experience for lossing weight.

  • Male or female? Ronnie can be either one. Here's a good low-carb food/exercise plan:Breakfast: Cook 9-grain cereal (from health food store) in water with rolled oats and wheat bran. Make a pot of it on weekends and nuke 1/2 cup each morning. Then stir in low fat milk or yogurt, banana, walnuts and berries. Drink hot Ovaltine. Breakfast should be your largest meal of the day to raise blood sugar level which falls during the night.Lunch: Egg, tuna or turkey ½ sandwich on multi-grain (not just whole wheat) bread with bean or alfalfa sprouts, yogurt, fresh fruit. If you had meat loaf for dinner, bring a meat loaf sandwich on whole grain bread (NO mayo). On cold days, a squatty thermos of hot chili, split peas with ham, or beef stew.Snacks: Fresh (not canned) fruit. Nothing ever from a vending machine. Fruit smoothies. Dinner: salad with white meat chicken and fresh (not canned) veggies: tomatoes, 2 kinds of lettuce, 2 kinds of shredded cabbage, shredded or sliced carrots, alfalfa or bean sprouts, zucchini, green or red peppers, hard boiled eggs, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, tofu, cottage cheese, spinach...Instead of dressing, squeeze 1/4 tomato over it. Or homemade bean/vegetable soups; great way to recycle leftovers.Or grilled fish with steamed veggies.Or omelet: In blender, whip together eggs, tofu, cottage cheese, onions, garlic powder. Cook with mushrooms, chopped tomatoes and green or red peppers. Avoid junk food, fast foods, gluten, pastries, desserts, syrup (even canned fruit in syrup), peanut butter, fat/grease (pork, wieners, chops, bacon, salami, pizza, chips, fries), pasta, potatoes, ramen, popcorn, white bread, rice, canned veggies, ice cream (it's lard + chemicals), chips, tobacco, alcohol (kills brain cells).coffee (carcinogenic). no oil except olive and mac nut. Sodas (loaded with toxins; leads to stroke, obesity, kidney damage, high BP and inhibits bone growth in kids), anything with sugar (cancer cells feed on sugar, it wreaks havoc on your liver, mucks up metabolism, impairs brain function, makes you more susceptible to heart disease and diabetes), To keep your skin clear, drink water, tea, veggie juice, unsweetened fruit juice.Join a gym; they have all the equipment and staff to show you how to use it to get the look you want to achieve, but you have to ask them. Much cheaper than buying your own equipment. Go hiking, biking, jogging, bowling, swimming, rowing, jump rope, play tennis, badminton, volleyball, soccer, jumping jacks, lift weights, trampoline? To tone your tummy, do sit ups, push ups, pull ups, leg lifts, butt raises and crunches. For more energy, take Super B complex. Try appetite suppressants.
  • If you truly want to lose weight then listen to this.1. Do not eat any bread, or anything that is not gluten free.- Try to limit your sugar intake.- Do not eat anything whole wheat.- Cut down on carbohydrates, and eat more foods like steak, vegetables and fruits. Our bodies are not meant to eat a seeds that have been crushed, mixed with other chemicals that we don't know about, baked, and turned into bread. Bread is bad for you.We are meant to eat meat, fruits and vegetables. During the cavemen times we roamed around picking strawberries, eating raw deer meat etc.
  • First thing to work on: stop being a scale addict. You are making it so difficult on yourself to be pleased with potential results. If you step on the scale everyday, or even after every workout and every meal, you're overdoing it. Lol relax, try to put longer periods in between stepping on that scale. That way there might actually be some differences instead of that constant back and forth after every little thing. Use that motivation of when you weighed 198, you mentioned several times how surprised you were and how you felt amazing. Use that as some raw motivational power!!! I absolutely adore you for saying that you want to get healthy, not just skinny. The reason this questioned is asked so often and “abused” is because everyone is different, so different things work best for different people. You have to figure out what works BEST for YOU. For the record, I'm typing this while reading your question so you are basically getting my feedback as I read :DI've never really been overweight, but I'm in my second year of college and starting to really miss all those sports and practices in high school that kept me really in shape. However I took it upon myself to take some fitness courses in college on the side to give myself incentive to workout. I felt amazing working out everyday, but for the average person there's just not enough time for that. It's been a while since I've done anything and I just don't feel as good as I did, so today I actually went on a run for the first time in a long time which is causing me to feel super enthused about it. I've done this so many times before, though, so I KNOW that this “enthused” feeling won't last long, so I have to keep finding more motivation to keep going. I like your idea about finding support, having people supporting you and also people who are going through positive changes along with you could definitely help. Some things that I like to call “life hacks” would be, parking a little further away (though don't do this in “sketchy” areas or at night for your safety) or take the long way to get somewhere when it comes to walking (for example, I take the many many stairs at my college instead of the elevator) stuff like that. Also, portion control is a big helper for many people, including myself. Of course eating healthier foods is best, but also eating less at a time, even if that means having more, smaller, meals instead of dominating lots of food maybe twice a day (I need to stop doing that). What I did to jump start this “health kick” that I am currently on: (Pardon me because I am very biased, because I am a distributor for the It Works company) but I use this product (completely natural ingredients, all healthy, 8+ servings of fruits and veggies, gives me tons of energy, and makes me feel less hungry/I get fuller quicker so I don't overeat anymore). It's called “Greens” and it's basically powder more or less that you add to water (or juice if desired) and drink. Simple! I drink Greens mixed with water in the morning when I get up and afternoon (not at night time because it makes me too energized/awake). Ever since I've started drinking this with water, I feel noticeably better in a lot of ways. This healthy, energizing product, can definitely help in weight loss (I've lost some weight recently)! There are also lots of other products for weight loss and other supplements that are also all natural and work very well with exercise or even just to boost your body with the daily activity you do (but still, it works best with exercise). I will stop ranting soon because I don't mean for this to be an advertisement, just a possible option to boost your health and results and all the like. I will link my company provided distributor site so you can check out some products if you'd like. The Greens (for people who become a loyal customer, which means you'll buy it for 3 months) should be 33-36 dollars including shipping. There should not be a tax because it is considered vitamin/supplements or something like that. I'd also check out Fat Fighters and/or Thermofit. Fat fighter is about 23 dollars and the thermofit is about 39 dollars. (I'm only providing this info so you can see somewhat price ranges and know now if you're even interested.) Sorry about the long answer and now basically an advertisement, I just really like these products and am really rooting for you to get healthy very fast because your question was very detailed and I can tell that you want this more than most people. Good luck, set small goals instead of one big goal and cross each off your list as you go! I'm rooting for you.http://gethealthywithalee.myitworks.com/shop/category/#65 (the link goes right to weight loss stuff where the fat fighter and thermofit are located, you can go to supplements tab as well to see these Greens that I talked about.) Long question gets long answer I suppose, haha!
  • Slow down, hon.You saw for yourself on your Disney trip-- the secret to weight loss: use up more calories then you take in.That's it... that's the big secret. That's how it works. It doesn't matter what exercise you do. It doesn't matter what you eat. All that matters is the simple formula: eat fewer calories, spend more. Now certainly you'll feel better and it will be better for your body if you eat healthier foods like salads and lean meats, but even if you just ate cake and doritos all day, as long as you were eating fewer calories than you were spending you would lose weight. So don't worry about which diet to pick-- pick the one you can stick to most easily. And don't worry about which exercises to pick-- pick the ones that are convenient and you will keep up daily.Because the other part of the formula is sticking to it-- because as soon as you go back to eating more calories than you spend, you gain weight. Also, don't worry about how quickly or how slowly it happens-- the body will go through up and down stages as it re-adjusts. Just worry about it being permanent-- a lifestyle.

How can i gain muscle? I am a hard gainer?

I am basically what you call an ectomorph or a hardgainer...in other words it is hard for me to gain weight/muscle.I currently measure 172cm and weigh around 55kg. I am motivated and i want to start gaining muscle but i dont really know what to do, as stupid as it might sound. I wanna be doing the right stuff, and not waste time. So do you guys have any workout recomendations? Also what supplements should i take? Thank you

How to Lose Weight Quickly

Recommended Answer:

If you're an ectomorph (very thin/skinny) or near ectomorph you will have difficulty gaining weight because of your somatype, not because of metabolism. So, if you want to change that and add some pounds there are two ways to do it. Both may work and neither may work. Your success is going to ultimately depend on your body chemistry which is inherited (genetic).FATThe difference between naturally fat and naturally thin people is the number of fat cells in their body. An endomorph may have as many as 250 billion adipocytes (fat cells) while the ectomorph may only have about 50 billion. There's no way to change your total adipocytes or their distribution throughout your body. How fat or thin you are has almost nothing to do with metabolism. You can try adding fat by eating more food. You should eat a proper diet which is about 50/20/30 (%calories from carbs/fats/protein respectively) and just consume more food. You should NOT eat junk food, increase your carbs, take supplements, consume more fat, etc. Just eat a proper, well balanced diet in increase the portions (serving sizes). If you are able to add body fat, you will have no control over where the fat goes or how it looks. In other words, the result could be "skinny fat" which is probably less appealing aesthetically than skinny. And, of course, if you don't like the fat, you'll just have to lose it to get back to where you were.MUSCLEYou can try adding muscle. It is always good to try to add muscle because muscle is the best metabolic investment you can make. Here are some of the benefits of strength training.• Stronger bones & increased mineral density (osteoporosis protection)• Stronger body & musculature (improved protection from injury)• More robust organic and systemic fitness (more survivable in crisis) • Improved cardio-vascular function (better than "cardio")• Higher basal metabolic rate (~5-50 cal/day/pound of muscle)• Easier fat loss (more efficient lipid consumption)• Greater calorie consumption (prolonged afterburn)• Supports body sculpting (hypertrophy)• Slows natural loss of muscle mass (sarcopenia) over age 30Adding muscle is a very slow and difficult process. Watch this video for more about that ---> http://www.youtube.com/user/scooby1961#p/search/0/Xcuhi6RaZ24 . On average males can add no more than about a pound of muscle per month and females can add about 20% less and that is only under ideal circumstances which are rare. However, if you're a teen, you may find adding muscle to be almost impossible because you will not have your lifetime maximum of testosterone (the muscle building hormone) until about your mid20s. Adding muscle means very intense (and painful) training for a few hours per week and usually requires a gym or gym facilities. It also requires some understanding of how to train (exercise physiology, kinesiology, muscle anatomy, etc) which usually means some time spent with a personal trainer. Adding muscle is a difficult and long term process and, once the muscle is added, the training must continue to maintain the muscle.Ectomorphism is an unhappy an occurrence because being very thin can effect self esteem and inhibit social interaction. However, the ectomorph will usually, in adult life, find it easier to achieve and maintain an ideal or close to ideal body weight because people naturally tend to grow fatter and/or more robust as they grow older....especially with proper diet and training. In other words, being underweight now may be paying it forward. You may reap the benefits with a nice body while your midlife peers are fighting the battle of the bulge.Note - Do not use pills, tonics, supplements, shakes, or other products which claim they can help increase body weight without first checking with your doctor. The scammers are very much aware of the plight of the ectomorph and there are scores or companies with products and advertising all designed to capitalize on your misfortune for their profit. Don't be a sucker. So, they may not be ideal. But those are your two options. Fat and/or muscle. Now, read this --> http://www.eatright.org/Public/content.aspx?id=6852#.UDnVaKAUOFAGood luck and good health!!♠

What is the difference between "if" and "that" in this sentence?

I wrote this sentence;I ate three doughnuts. They were really good, but now I'm worried if I will gain weight. Some English speakers corrected it for me as;I ate three doughnuts. They were really good, but now I'm worried that I will gain weight.I used "if", because I thought it expressed future possibilities.Could you explain what is the difference in these and the reason that I can't use "if" here?Thank you very much for your help!

How to Lose Weight Eating Every 2 Hours

The corrected sentence is grammatical, but doesn't mean quite what you want to say, which is only a *possibility* of gaining weight. The problem is "worried if"; the two words don't go together that way. You're using them as a kind of shorthand for "worried about the possibility that", but we don't use it that way in English."If" can express future possibilities but only with certain verbs, and I think they all have a sense of "questioning"--I wonder if I'll gain weight, I don't know if I'll gain weight. "Worry" doesn't include that meaning.I think the best would be:I ate three doughnuts. They were really good, but now I'm worried that I might gain weight.

Other Answers:

  • The only reason I can give is that the word "that" implies that you are worried specifically about gaining weight, whereas the word "if" seems to imply that you will be worried after you gain weight. This is what the first sentence seems to imply: "If I gain weight, I will be worried." Which doesn't make sense.Mainly, "that" just sounds better to American English speakers.Hope that helped!
  • I see where your confusion is. I'd be confuse too! Lets see if I can try to help. (:You should have said; "I ate three doughnuts. They were really good, but now I'm worried (that) I'll gain weight,". Saying "I'm worried if.." implies you'll be worried IF you do gain weight later, not that you are worried now that you might be in the process of gaining weight because of the doughnuts.
  • The first sentence is not horrible, and people will certainly understand you.If you "worry", you are imagining a bad situation. Even though the situation might not happen, your worry is real. You are saying "This is my worry: I will gain weight." It is understood that your worry might not become reality.
  • The only difference is that you are worried THAT you will gain weight. THAT is correct, and if is not. It's not that big a deal, though. When you figure how many GROSSLY incorrect grammatical errors most English speakers make all the time, this is very minor.
  • The two sentences which we are concerned with are:I am worried if I will gain weight.I am worried that I will gain weight. The above sentences are both compound sentences. They are made of two complete thoughts connected together with conjunctions if or that:I am worried. ..and ..I will gain weight. Both of your compound sentences are correct, and they make sense. However they do not mean the same, and I think those who corrected you, did not correct your GRAMMAR but they found it obvious that if you ate three doughnut, they would have no doubt that you would gain weight. As far as they are concerned there was no IF about it that you would gain weight. However, your IF sentence could make good sense too because it is possible that the three doughnut were all you had all day, and in that case you would not gain weight from them.
  • The word "if" has nothing to do with something happening in the future. It has everything to do with expressing a condition. It marks something that is necessary for something else.To say that you're worried if you will gain weight is to say that gaining weight in the future is a necessary condition in order for you to be worried now. Since your worry is a present tense situation and the weight gain is a future tense condition, this sentence doesn't make much sense. The word "that" doesn't mark a condition. It simply marks that the following clause names or describes something. That you will gain weight is the thing that worries you. You're worried now about a future possibility. This usage of the word "that" is optional if it is obvious that the subordinate clause is nominative. You could simply say "I'm worried I will gain weight."
