Is this an okay size for a 14 year old girl?

I'm 5'4 and weigh 55kg. I really want to lose some fat because my thighs are 20 inches and my hips are 35inces. Is this quite big for a 14 year old? And also can you give me some tips I could use to help me lose weight during the school time?

How to Lose Weight With a Six Week Program

Recommended Answer:

Hi freoughmore!Don't worry about your weight too much but there is some things you can do. Firstly remember to drink lots of water (average around 8 cups daily). Have a glass before every meal to stop overeating. You must eat lots of protein- meat such as chicken and other sources of protein is from beans such as lentils and also eat nuts. Also take a multivitamin with dinner. Eat fresh salads and vegetables with dinner and as snacks. Celery is a great snack as it has next to no calories and includes vitamins. (Note that you should avoid cheese, sugary cereals and bread-especially white)For exercise you should aim to do 60-100 sit ups daily, don't do too much as your muscles need time to heal. This is a great way of burning belly fat and tones the muscle. If you have a stationary bike use it for 30 minutes daily (doesn't have to be vigorous) this loses fat from thighs and legs also gives them nice definition. If you don't have a bike go jogging or running for 30 minutes daily because it has the same effect! If you do this you should be able to lose a few pounds quickly. Good luck!!

  • You're 14, you shouldn't be worrying about your weight. Just make sure you eat lots of fruit and veg, drink lots of water, don't eat too much rubbish and do exercise :)
  • I'm the same height as you and although I weigh a little less, you're at a very healthy weight for your size. If you still want to lose weight, do a lot of cardio! It burns fat everywhere and worked well for me. I lost weight easily when I cut out sodas and junk food (which wasnt easy at all) and started working out.

Tips for Losing Weight Fast - Burn the Fat or Eat the Muscle?

Recommended Answer:
Eat a diet low in carbohydrates (such as bread and pasta) and without processed foods. An iteration of the paleo (paleolithic) diet is optimal. Your diet should be comprised of lean meats (beef, chicken, some cuts of pork and fish), vegetables (particularly dark and leafy--spinach, kale, beets, squash, etc.) and fat (olive oil, clarified butter). Eggs are also acceptable, but dairy and fruit intake should be limited. Protein shakes (containing few carbohydrates) may also be used.

Emphasize muscle development with minimal fat loss in your workout plan. Weight training is integral. As a general rule, you should work towards a system of 5 x 5--that is, five repetitions, for five sets, of any weight movement. Your body must be adequately challenged. After you''re used to your workout program, lift the heaviest weights you can, while still managing to complete five sets of five reps. This is the only way you will see a dramatic change in your body.
Do compound lifts, or weight exercises that recruit the greatest number of muscles. The following compound lift exercises are ideal: deadlifts, squats, bench presses and pull-ups. If you are unsure of correct form, ask a trainer or a fellow gym-goer for assistance or pointers.

Finally perfect your body by doing cardio and ab exercises for that chiseled look!

Holiday Weight Loss Tips - How to Lose Weight During the Holiday Season

There is a book called Skinny B**ch by Rory Freeman and Kim Barnouin.

It is a book specifically designed to help girls become slim and healthy, it has all the science behind the way it is done and an eating plan. There are success stories of it on youtube and I really, really advise it.

You could try swimming as a form of exercise as is uses all of your muscles and is very relaxing, it will also help your breathing and heart rate.

  • You need to change up your exercise. And look at your diet again, the quality of the calories matters just as much, if not more than the quality. Don''t let your mind defeat you, you''ve lost a good bit of weight, you''ve just hit a plateau is all, it''s temporary and normal part of losing weight.
  • This is literally a life changer, Paleo is the best diet you can get. I''ve got 4% body fat because of it and I will recommend it to everyone i know. Try this book: http://goo.gl/sQwlD . Also diet is only 70% and biking may not be enough insanity will be way more effective, take a look here: http://goo.gl/zFloi
  • It is possible that your body got used to that weight and now it wont lose more, the body hs its own type of smartness I guess. I don''t think your calorie count is healthy, you can eat more than that and sould because you need calories if you are an active person. It''s also possible that your problemis genetic, did you ever look for tyroid problems? Some people have them and unfortunately don''t know about it. Also look for what products make you gain more weight or lose weight and how to build a healthy diet. http://myhealthdiaryhowtoloseweight.blogspot.pt/

Should Ketosis Feel Good?

When I am in Ketosis during a low carb diet I don''t really feel that great. Most low carb advocates talk about all the wonderful benefits of Ketosis (and I have lost tremendous amounts of weight and lowered my blood sugar with it!), but I don''t have a high level of "well-being" during this phase. It''s kind of like right before you realize you have a cold and you have a day of "woozies" (or kids will get cranky) etc.....Is this normal? Or should I be feeling like I am at optimal health during this time? Any suggestions on how to improve my sense of "well being" during this phase?

Thank you

Weight Loss - Are You Fighting With Yourself to Lose Weight?

Are you eating enough calories? Is your dietary fat ratio >65%? Are you eating a nutrient dense diet? Are you staying hydrated?

When you restrict carbohydrates, you quickly deplete glycogen stores. Glycogen holds 3x it''s weight in water, so depleting them is like wringing out a sponge. This causes dehydration & an electrolyte imbalance because you lose a lot of salts with the water. It''s very important for low carbers to increase their salt & potassium intake. Salt & potassium have a yin/yang relationship.

Salt and water work together to do important work in your body, including stimulating your metabolism, helping you detoxify, support your adrenals and making sure your nerves, hormones and immune system function properly.

I recommend dissolving half teaspoon each of UNrefined salt, potassium & ascorbic acid (vit.C) in 6-8 oz of water & drink every morning to replenish electrolytes. This can be done up to 3x a day if necessary. I buy a salt substitute (NuSalt, NoSalt, Morton''s Salt substitute, etc) for a cheap form of potassium. This should alleviate fatigue, headaches, dizziness or constipation caused by dehydration. Make sure you drink lots of water.

I really think this salt solution will help you feel much better. I would also recommend taking a vitamin B complex & a multivitamin daily. Have you had your vitD levels checked, they are lowest this time of year which can lower your immunity & sense of well being.

Lately, I''ve been taking tsp each of UNrefined salt, potassium & ascorbic acid (vit.C) and adding this to my drinking water jug & drinking this all day long. I have noticed a difference & plan to continue.

Refined salt may not be healthy, but UNrefined salt is vital to good health.

Unrefined salt contains over 80 minerals. Natural (unrefined) Salt is 85 % Sodium Chloride and Processed (refined) Salt is 98 % Sodium Chloride. The refining process ensures that salt won''t go rancid, but eliminates all of salt''s life-sustaining properties.

I recommend eating these 2 items daily. If you need additional fat or calories, you can add a tablespoon of virgin coconut oil to the ground flax seed cereal. I highly recommend virgin coconut oil for people needing quick energy - fats provide sustained energy, but coconut oil is the only fat that is converted to quick energy like a carb.

Half an avocado mashed with mayo seasoned with cayenne & eaten with pork rinds or celery.

Ground flax seed (4 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 min for daily fiber needs.

I''m a proponent of low carb diets & highly recommend a fat based diet to maximize health. All carbs >9g per hour trigger insulin & insulin doesn''t allow other hormones to function when it dominates the bloodstream. People think a low carb way of eating is for weight loss when actually it is for normalizing the body & allowing the body to finally function properly & is just as good for the underweight as overweight.

This is an example of my idea of a near perfect 2200 calorie diet (70% of calories from dietary fats & 100% of RDA for all dietary nutrients) & a good example of Atkins life plan - I would actually include much more vegetables, but this is an example of the basics to cover 100% of RDA for all dietary nutrients. Males would need 2500 calories though.

This has 108g total carbs but after subtracting fiber (which has no calories) only has 56g net carbs.

Perfect diet -

4 cups Romaine lettuce
2 med tomatoes
half cup sweet red pepper
1 cup kale
1 avocado
4 each strawberries

1 oz raw Almonds
1 oz chia seeds
1 oz flax seeds
3 oz raw sunflower seeds

2T butter
half cup coconut milk
1oz cheddar cheese
8oz plain yogurt
1oz canned oysters (about 4)
4oz can sardines
2 lg eggs

99g - protein
56g - net carbs - 108g total carbs less 52g fiber
170g - fat

total calories 2200

  • NO. Forced ketosis is very bad and having high levels of ketones is deadly.

Having high ketones makes you feel sick and should not feel good at all. Period.
