How to Lose Weight Fast and Keep it Off

Recommended Answer:

You have asked a terrible question. The reason is simple. I you're going to go to all the trouble of doing what is necessary to lose fat, you're probably going to want to keep it off. Here's why. When you lose fat, you weigh less and, hence, burn fewer calories. Your BMR will be lower so you'll have to eat less on maintenance than when you were heavier. And, losing the fat is only the beginning. Once fat is lost, you have to keep it off for the rest of your life and that may include such difficulties as the "Freshman 15", college drinking culture, soirées and social drinking, somatopause (age-related slowing metabolism), a more sedentary lifestyle, affluence and access to more expensive, tasty, and fattening meals, etc. This truth is born out by the fact that 3 out of 4 adult Americans are overweight or obese. That's means only 1 in 4 adult Americans has a healthy weight. (See: http://www.obesityinamerica.org/statistics/index.cfm ). It only gets more difficult to stay slim as the years roll by. It never gets easier. So, now is the time to establish good eating habits...the kind that will keep you svelte and fit in the days ahead and for the rest of your life. So, ask yourself if you want us to tell you what you should eat for the rest of your life. Especially when the secrete to losing fat is finding food items you enjoy that will keep you well nourished and feeling full without going over your BMR ( http://www.calculator.net/bmr-calculator.html ) in daily calories and we can't know what you enjoy. To find out how the best minds in nutrition in the world (at the US NIH) have recommended for decades we lose fat, read my answer about how to lose fat --> http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=As615QJM4X_3ID9_05qmmlXty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20111028185603AAVcP4D You must make your own food choices. So, do your homework and find the foods that work for you. They won't be the foods that work for us.Your body has no choice but to follow your brain. So, you should feed your brain a steady diet of good information if you want to be all you can be. It's YOUR body and it has to last a lifetime so it's worth the investment. Don't ask questions of random strangers with no credibility in this or other online forums. Use high quality resources for information instead. The basic principles of health, fitness, and nutrition are not that difficult or hard to understand. Avoid the internet unless you're using trusted sites in dot gov or dot edu domains. The dot coms are usually driven by profit motive and you'll find bad information in most websties including WebMD, Livestrong, Bobybuilding.com, etc. and especially in this forum and others like it. And, avoid magazine and other cheap commercial informational products about fitness, glamour, muscle building, fashion and fads. Don't be part of the "herd" unless you want to look, feel, and perform like the "herd".Use books, especially late edition text books on subjects such as nutrition, anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology...especially exercise physiology. You can find excellent information resources at your local public or Uni library or for sale cheap online at Amazon.com and Ebay.com. Always follow the science. Use critical thinking. Be skeptical and do not believe anything without cross checking it with trusted sources. Grow your personal knowledge base and everything else will follow with relative ease. You have one body and it has to last a lifetime. It's worth the investment to learn how to care for it properly. Why did I gain a weight after I've been eating healthy?

I am 14 and weigh 108 pounds... I'm trying to lose weight so I started eating healthy. I just started yesterday but instead of losing I gained a pound! I'm now 109. All I have eaten is carrots, strawberries, cheerios, vanilla Greek yogurt and a little tiny piece of chicken with a tiny bit of rice yesterday and the same thing today. I haven't eaten anything unhealthy today or yesterday and yesterday I had soccer practice and we did a lot of push ups and sit ups and ran like two miles so I burned a lot of calories. I know that muscle weighs more than fat but is it possible that I gained a pound of muscle in one night? What am I doing wrong?

How to Fast and Lose Weight Safely

Recommended Answer:

you're too young & light & physically active to diet.you're growing & building muscle. your poor starving body has latched onto that healthy food you ate because it's afraid you're going to do something stupid like starve yourself to maintain an unhealthy weight.

Other Answers:

  • your body weight fluctuates 5 lbs throughout the day because you eat food, you drink stuff, and then yu release it in the form of urine and feces.
  • You are still going through puberty so yes your body is constantly adding muscle and weight and y are you trying to lose weight. 108 pounds is way to little wight for someone your age to be losing weight
  • How tall are you? Unless you're under 5' tall, you don't need to lose any weight.Stop with the crazy and weighing yourself constantly before you develop an eating disorder.
  • Make sure you weigh yourself at the same time of day every day as your body can fluctuate a lot through the day. and also if your 14 and only 108 than you might already be healthy depending on how tall you are.
