Is running 3.5 miles almost every day good or should I rest more?

I have been running around 3 times a week on the beach for 3.5 miles each time but I am now trying to lose weight. I started a diet and now I am trying to work out more by running. I ran yesterday and today my usual routine and feel pretty good, but if I step up my workout by almost doubling the amount of time running per week, is that okay? I don't feel anything wrong, I just want to know if I should gradually work my way up to about 6 times a week or if I can just go ahead and do it every day.
