If I swim everyday intensely during the week for 2 hours, how much weight will I loose?

I am a 180-pound 6"2 15-year old kid. If I go on a well-balanced diet while swimming 2 hours, 5 days a week, will I loose weight? If so, how much?

WHAT does INTENSELY mean? If you were to swim 3000 yds (2750m) per hour, you'd use about 1000 calories per hour. Two hours ... well, you can do the math. Then count your calories. Swimming (2000 calories) plus your daily need for energy (calories) to stay alive (about 2400 calories) means you are using 4400 calories per day. A pound of human fat contains about 3500 calories. So, if you do nothing with your diet and you are eating 2400 calories per day, you'll be using (4400 - 2400) = 2000 calories per day that you are not eating. So, divide 3500 by 2000 which is 1.75. Therefore, you'll lose ONE POUND every 1.75 days which is 4 lbs/wk.However, if you were to drop your caloric intake to around 1400, you'll lose almost one pound per day. But, DO NOT DROP BELOW 1400 per day. If you take in too few calories, your body goes into, what is called, starvation mode and when you start to eat a more normal number of calories you will gain back the weight you lost and possibly more. It is good that you want to eat a well balanced diet. The big thing is that the diet you choose should be on that you will follow for your entire life (only the calories will change). You should ALMOST eliminate fast foods, snack foods, any food that has sugar added to it (that includes any ingredient that ends in the three letters "-ose" - high fructose corn syrup, sucrose, galactose, etc except for cellulose and the sugar in fruit is OK, too, as long as you are eating the fruit, not fruit juice). Reduce salt ... do NOT use a salt shaker. EAT LARGE AMOUNTS OF PLANTS (cellulose). Cut down on animal fat. Use olive oil (and other oils) instead of butter. Eat organic foods as much as possible. Finally, I don't want to be negative BUT ... I seriously doubt that you will be able to complete two hours of intense (3000 yds/hr) of swimming. If you are a non-competitive swimmer, you'll be LUCKY to complete 2000 yards in two hours. Regardless, good luck.
