How much weight would she lose by doing this?

My mom is trying to lose weight and she's not going to have any snacks or sweet foods or anything between meals. Since she gets up early for work (Around 6 AM) , she won't be eating for another 6-7 hours because her lunch break is 12:30.I'm just a little worried because I don't think it's healthy. It's good for her to try and lose weight but 6-7 hours is a while without eating. I was thinking maybe she could bring a healthy snack like a banana, but she said she doesn't want to do that. Before this whole diet, she ate 3 or 4 cookies between breakfast and lunch, and another 3 or 4 cookies between lunch and dinner. Sometimes she would eat a little more like a poppy seed roll between breakfast and lunch along with the cookies. And also everyday she had a snack after dinner. If she cuts out all of those breads and snacks between meals, how much weight would she lose? She's small (5 feet, 3 inches) . Also, she doesn't exercise much because where she works, she just sits at a desk all day. So the only difference would be cutting out snacks between meals AND added things like ketchup, mayo, sauces, dressing, etc..Also, is this healthy? If not, how can I convince her to bring a small snack to work to hold her over? I don't want her going into starvation mode! :(Thanks!

No I don't think that's good. I'm not like an expert dietician or anything but I know you're supposed to have 5 small meals a day. The occasional treat isn't bad if it's in moderation, but cutting sweets out all together I think is fine.

  • Its a start, but she has to realize you have to keep you metabolism going, keep eating healthy snacks like a fruit or nuts and you wont need to eat as much dinner. It sounds like she has a sugar craving too, tell her to cut out all sugar for a while, her body will eventually adjust to that and she wont even want to look at those cookies anymore. She can still have(homemade) salad dressings, mustard, hot sauces and spices so the food will not be tasteless. Look up the documentary Hungry for a Change to try to convince her. It shouldn't be a diet, it should be a overall lifestyle change.
