Any cardio exercises like running will cause you to burn more fat as opposed to gaining muscle. Don't overdue cardio, but it's still important to try to get at least 30 minutes a day in. You need to focus on weight training. Doing squats daily, and doing leg presses to tone the legs and glutes. You can also buy ankle weights for leg lifts to give you even more muscle tone and definition. Your diet is also a big part of exercise and your overall health. So make sure you are eating healthy foods such as fresh veggies, salads, fruits, Greek yogurt, nuts, avocados, chicken, fish, protein shakes, etc. as the proteins will help build muscle and give you the strength and energy you need to get through your workouts. Avoid sodas and very processed foods and make sure to drink lots of water. Gaining weight in muscle is much better than gaining weight in fat. You can target where your muscles weight gain is, you can't target where you get your fat. Good luck ! (:

Other Answers:

  • Some ppl have a hard time gaining weight to get toned with muscels. You could buy protein pulver at some work out shop. That helps.
  • If you want to put on muscle and are skinny it's pretty simple. Eat right (that means meat, milk, fruits vegetables) and actually work out. Start a daily chart to keep you on track. Make sure you exercise to the point of where the muscle feels "tense" or "in pain" and then after that. And allow *that muscle* to relax while you work on the other, (repeat until you cover your body's major muscle groups)What you will be doing is fueling yourself right and then telling your body "Hey! I need this bigger, I use it, here I have all the nutrients and proteins you need, build up. I need that this much bigger." And although it will take dedication and time, it *WILL* be worth it. (Trust me ;) ) But you have to be willing to do what is hard, not what is easy. Good luck with everything man!
