Eating before bed to gain weight?

I heard that you can gain weight if you eat before bed, and being 5'1 and roughly 83lbs, I think this might be a good idea (don't worry, I'm not anorexic and my doctors say I'm completely fine so no need to worry). I also eat a lot during the day, sometimes I eat more than my friends who are over 100lbs surprisingly, so I know I have a pretty good diet. If this theory is true, what foods can I eat right before bed to gain the most weight?

30 - 40 lbs. Take it slow. Keep an eye on your nutrition, that's most important. Exercise seems good for now. Ramp it up as you lose weight. You'll also have to change your nutrition plan as you lose weight. Good luck buddy. I applaud you for your effort. Be patient and seek support as you continue on this journey. It's about creating new habits and lifestyle changes.

  • Erm i dont know
  • I lose around 10 lbs/month. I am a female who started at 221 lbs, and I am at 151 lbs now. So I mean because you are starting at a larger weight than what I started, I believe you can lose maybe 20 - 30 lbs/month in the beginning. There are online calculators to predict how long weight loss takes, how much you will lose by a certain date, etc. You could always put your information into those. Here are some I found in a search: http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=ArTeCHQIy2hCgqsq38c1MkWbvZx4?p=weight+loss+goal+calculator&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-622
  • By september, maybe 10lbs is reasonable. By oct 6th I'd say you could for sure lose around 15-20 lbs. Good luck! way to take initiative. :)Mine please http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtNr_NXJymmjn6cIcu_UDTAd53NG;_ylv=3?qid=20130807110740AAwwoUX
  • I'm done with my weight loss journey and completely happy with how I feel and how I look right now however losing weight is a challenge for anyone and even losing 5 pounds and keeping it off isn't an easy task. Also I bet you didn't know that 5 pounds of fat is about the size of 8 cheese burgers? That alone should be enough to make anyone want to get on the ball and start a change for the better. Weight loss can be really easy to learn but the problem is nobody wants to put the required effort that is needed to actually do it, instead people continually look for (easy) ways to do it. If there was an easy way to lose weight I don't think 35% of Americans would be obese. There was a time when I also wanted to lose weight and was tired of starting diets only to lose motivation and give up just a few weeks later after seeing no results. However, let me tell you it is literally one of the easiest things you will ever learn once you find a good and reputable place to learn it from and I say that only because the world is filled with magic diet pills, liquid flush diets and a thousand other quick fixes that promise xx pounds of weight loss in the first week and even though it is impossible they know you're going to do it because your desperate. I have probably tried every diet pill, liquid flush diet, and ab rocket machine known to man and have had no success with any of them nor do I know anyone that has ever had any success with them. I have also tried starving myself which works very well for the first few weeks' right before your metabolism comes to a complete stop and eating just the tiny bit makes you gain weight and you end up weighing more than you did before you started starving yourself. Companies promote weight loss to make money not to get people healthy again and that's because they know you're not going to be a customer and buy their products if you're no longer fat. http://fatloossfactor.com is a site I want you to go to when you have 10 or 20 minutes to spare and I want you to sit down and watch his video on weight loss. He helps people every day to lose weight I have never seen someone as committed as him and that will go so far out of his way to help someone. His weight loss program is one of the best I have ever had the enjoyment of doing and it is without doubt the best success I have ever had with any weight loss program. I also couldn't be happier with my body right now and I have never felt this wonderful in my whole life. In the end you just got to remember to stick with it and stay confident in yourself and in no time you can achieve the results you have always wanted. It's not hard to lose weight but most people have a hard time staying motivated and 9 times out of 10 it was because they weren't really committed from the beginning. Anyways I hope I helped you and I hope you make the commitment to change your body and life. Remember it's not easy to take the first step but you did, you're here right now taking it and the rest of the steps will fall into place. Have a wonderful day.

Has anyone managed to help get their parents back on track of their health, diet and fitness?

My mom is 54 now and is overweight. I've worked as a personal trainer. I know what she needs to be eating and have tried on many occasions to show her exercises to work out. She liked working out when I was able to make it to help her with the exercises. She had lost 10 pounds. But she gradually started working out less. She would say she was stuck at work every night. I'd ask her to work out in the morning if that was the case and she would say she's too busy getting ready in the morning. Other days, she'd get home and want to watch tv - saying she was too tired and had had a long day.My family has heart problems. Her dad had a heart attack when he was about her age. She is overweight and is gaining weight back. Her mom, my grandmother, was apparently so upset to see she had gained weight that she had stayed up all night worrying that first night they stayed over to visit. Not only has my mom stopped working out, but she has begun eating poorly again. I had a talk with her yesterday about getting back on track. For several months, I had stopped trying to get her to work out and eat healthy...and tonight, she went out for a rich dinner from Boston Market (full of sodium, fat, calories). I cannot understand why it's so difficult. I terribly want to see her get healthier. She always says she would like to lose weight. But she has no desire. As a personal trainer, I *know* that you cannot help a person unless they truly want to be helped. I understand that all I can do is provide her with the information and with the resources. But at the same time, it's bothersome to have to sit and watch....I - as well as most of you I'm sure- want a parent who has mobility, livelihood, and health into old age. I also think it would nice if she could find someone to date again so that she isn't lonely. There have to be ways to get your parent motivated to losing weight and sticking to a healthier, more active lifestyle. Thanks for answering lex. I've actually tried bringing her out to the pool - she used to love swimming and was on the team as a kid. She really enjoys swimming but never gets out to the community pool (which is a two minute walk). I've also tried kickboxing. I've suggested we get a hitting bag. I figured that would be less of a chore. She simply says that yes, that would be nice. I've gotten her to exercise on a bike while watching tv but she won't do it frequently because she wants to eat dinner with tv and go to sleep.

How to Use Honey and Cinnamon to Lose Weight

It sounds to me that you've approached this situation like any personal trainer in a gym would approach it, but you didn't approach it like a daughter would.I'm a gal who is pretty buffed. I can run a mile in less than 8 minutes. I love to sprint whenever possible. I'm in very very good shape.I hate exercise. I can't stand it. It's a chore... no, it's torture. It's so boring. And then there's the guy who always has to give you all the unwanted advise... God I hate the gym.I love martial arts though. I love the intense training. The focus. The power. The art. Some have even told me how much money I'm "wasting" because I spend $70 for martial arts classes instead of taking advantage of the free gym membership offered by my landlord. Perhaps financially that is a waste, but let me put it this way. I GO to martial arts classes willingly. I don't even set foot in the free gym. Nor would I ever.My point is that your education and knowledge is actually what's betraying you here. You showed her one way to lose weight. And when it didn't work out, you feel a sense of defeat. Plus, what you showed her does nothing for the root cause of the problem, which is her loneliness. Consider other things that are exercise that are far more enjoyable than doing whatever aerobic exercise to jazz music. Consider focusing more on her need to socialize than her need to exercise, and perhaps find something that can accomplish both. Dancing is a huge thing. Tai Chi classes are a lot of fun, and while I haven't seen anyone particularly lose weight in the ones my school offers, there have been a lot of friendships develop. Plus, they're moving and feeling a sense of accomplishment other than in just pounds. Moving is better than sitting. Don't get stuck in this rut of your own knowledge. She doesn't think the same as clients who are paying you, so you can't approach it the same.I guess as a personal trainer you can go on arguing with me about how none of what I suggests offers a "whole body workout" which is ideal for weight loss, blah, blah, blah, blah. But right now you haven't been able to keep her interest on anything you tried, so try something else. Something beyond just exercise.EDIT: Ah, thank you for the clarification. So it sounds to me like your mother is "the magic pill" type. Basically as you already know, there's a difference between people who want to lose weight, and those who only think they do. Those who really want to lose weight tend to find a way to do it if they can, and those who can't, still end up better off, looking and feeling healthier even if they aren't actually lighter. Then there's the others who find losing weight would be nice, but will only do it if they can get a magic pill that they just have to swallow in the morning and they're done.Unfortunately, you cannot build that desire in another person. You can only encourage it if it's there. Often times there's a deep seated problem where losing weight just simply doesn't seem worth it, even if it would be nice. Your mother could be loneliness. You may have to work on her socializing first before you can tackle the problem with her weight. Finding her a social circle whether it be art, dancing, or school where she can feel rewarded and valued before she can tackle her weight problem.

How to Lose Weight Fast With Green Tea

Any cardio exercises like running will cause you to burn more fat as opposed to gaining muscle. Don't overdue cardio, but it's still important to try to get at least 30 minutes a day in. You need to focus on weight training. Doing squats daily, and doing leg presses to tone the legs and glutes. You can also buy ankle weights for leg lifts to give you even more muscle tone and definition. Your diet is also a big part of exercise and your overall health. So make sure you are eating healthy foods such as fresh veggies, salads, fruits, Greek yogurt, nuts, avocados, chicken, fish, protein shakes, etc. as the proteins will help build muscle and give you the strength and energy you need to get through your workouts. Avoid sodas and very processed foods and make sure to drink lots of water. Gaining weight in muscle is much better than gaining weight in fat. You can target where your muscles weight gain is, you can't target where you get your fat. Good luck ! (:

Other Answers:

  • Some ppl have a hard time gaining weight to get toned with muscels. You could buy protein pulver at some work out shop. That helps.
  • If you want to put on muscle and are skinny it's pretty simple. Eat right (that means meat, milk, fruits vegetables) and actually work out. Start a daily chart to keep you on track. Make sure you exercise to the point of where the muscle feels "tense" or "in pain" and then after that. And allow *that muscle* to relax while you work on the other, (repeat until you cover your body's major muscle groups)What you will be doing is fueling yourself right and then telling your body "Hey! I need this bigger, I use it, here I have all the nutrients and proteins you need, build up. I need that this much bigger." And although it will take dedication and time, it *WILL* be worth it. (Trust me ;) ) But you have to be willing to do what is hard, not what is easy. Good luck with everything man!

Sounds like what I had last year, glandular fever. I threw up every day for three weeks and ended up in hospital because I only weighed 6 stone. I'd go to your doctor regardless, because although glandular fever cannot be treated (it is a virus) you may have something else that needs to be checked before it gets any worse. Hope you feel better soon, and I hope it isn't glandular fever but something nicer!

Are (for example) 800 chicken calories the same as 800 cookie calories. From a weight loss standpoint?

So to be clear, the following is all hypothetical and just a question for future reference. So here goes: say my doctor says I need to lose weight and puts me on a 2000 calorie a day limit. If I have oatmeal for breakfast at 600 calories, a ham and cheese sandwich at 600 calories for lunch and for dinner (here comes the question), I have 800 calories of chicken or pasta or something. Say another night I have the same thing up until dinner. If for dinner, I replaced dinner with 800 calories of cookies and thats all I ate that day. Would their be any problem with either of these two meals from a calorie standpoint or in the "world or weight loss" are certain calories not the same of other calories? Thanks

The calories remain the same, but there is a huge difference in sugar, fat, carbs and protein, which ultimately lead to weight gain or loss.

Other Answers:

  • Calories are calories. However NUTRITION between the two is tremendously different. The 'feeling full' factor also comes into play, sugars let you crash way too soon.
  • From a nutrition standpoint no, leaner healthier foods will fill you up better and edge a bit more weight loss... however calorie maintenance is calorie maintenance, so yes you can loose the weight. Here is a little insight: http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/08/twinkie.diet.professor/index.html
  • Technically, all calories are is energy. So 800 calories is = 800 calories no matter where it came from. But from a weight lost standpoint , you shouldn't be eating cookies. Cookies are made of unnatural fats so its harder for the body to absorb completely, resulting in fat(the kind that's on your appearance) . Chicken is natural, so it's made of natural components. The body can easily process that. The body will use the chickens energy much faster than the energy of cookies. I hope that answered your question!
  • NO, not all calories are alike, I have lost 50 pounds, I am seeing a nutritionist for help. I keep a food diary, writing down everything I eat, every meal, every snack, every day. She have been food coaching me, giving me advice, she wants me to eat less carbs (breads & cookies) and more proteins (chick & lean meats). I have already added. She only wants me to have pizza 1 or 2 meals a week. You also want to limit your calories from fats. Once or twice a week you could maybe have a lighter breakfast and lunch, then have the same calories worth of cookies as a snack that day.
  • Calories are NOT all just Calories, you can get calories from different things, a couple hundred calories from carbs and protein, is NOT the same as the same couple hundred calories from sugar or fat. The person that said there all the same is a moron. People make WAY too much work out of diet, eat healthy exercise and you'll be fine minus and underlying medical issues. 99.99% of people already know what's healthy and whats not.
