Why do I gain weight after a workout?

For example, last night I did about a 400 calorie workout along with dieting so my weight should have gone down, however my weight went up by .4 of a pound, which doesn't make sense to me. Would my weight go down tomorrow or in a few days if I didn't work out? I heard its because of swollen muscle but not really sure what causes it.
