Is it bad to have scars?

So I am in love with my best friend, but I can''t tell him so I''ve been sort of down lately, and I was wondering if scars really were that bad? I always thought that cutting was bad and stuff, but it really helps sometimes. It helps me relax, and it''s not like I''m cutting super deep or anything. Even though it bleeds a lot I''ve never felt like passing out so I don''t think it''s dangerous. I always clean my ecacto knife off and cover my cuts to avoid infection. My skin heals pretty fast, and it just gets a purple white ish mark where the cut was. I cut along my hip and upper thigh, so no one will ever even see it (since I''m a boy and wear long shorts) it feels really nice to cut and it lets me relax and think things through. I''ve been doing it for about nine months, and I''ve never had any issues with it. It hurts when I bend over, but the pain is nice and is a quick release during the day. It helps the emotional stuff go away, and stops me from being so sad. The only thing that is bad, is that once I got blood all over my bed sheet by mistake. There was so much on it I had to throw it out. I guess that was when I was starting and didn''t have a routine. I usually only make 15 cuts a night, and they are only an inch long, and barely bleed for more than a few minutes. It''s been working well, and the cuts are all concealed when I wear boxers. Do they make you take your underwear off when at the docter? My mother said she wanted to take me for a check up since she noticed me loosing weight.

anyways, I mean, is it really that bad to do? And does anyone know how to get it to feel even more real? As in a different way to cut, or a special kind of knife or blade? Lots of people say not to, but I don''t think they understand that it''s not hurting me.

Well, actually, it IS literally hurting you.
Now, I''m not gonna preach whether or not to cut yourself, because even though I think there are better ways to handle sadness, that''s not your issue.
However, if you''re in love with your best friend, you should probably tell him about the cuts...
Perhaps that you''ve been feeling sad, and hopefully that will help.
If he is a true friend he''ll accept you, and your cuts just fine.
If I hadn''t known about my partners scars before we got intimate, I would have been shocked.
But I knew beforehand, and that really eases the situation.
Learn to talk to your friend, and if your relationship grows beyond that, accept it, don''t hide anything from him, as it could devastate him emotionally that you were hiding something that major in your life from him.
Trust him.
And it certainly isn''t bad to have scars, I''ve taught my girlfriend that her scars are a mere reminder of the past, and how much better life is now.

  • ARE YOU CRAZY! Judging by what you have said you are the first person I have ever met who is genuinely suffering from self harm. Other teens are all like "Oh no, I self harm myself to stop the pain, ahh it hurts" but I know YOU are for real because
    a. You are convinced it''s fine
    b. You don''t think it hurts
    c. It relaxes you
Please I''m begging you I know you think it''s fine but TALK to an adult. One who you trust and you know won''t judge you. Please.
  • Sahara must be twelve. I would say that upwards of 40% of all people have been a cutter at some point, even if it was only for a short time. It''s no one''s business if you cut, don''t ever let someone try to force you to tell them about it, they could try to use it against you.
