Anyhow, I''d recently gained 20lbs back and am kicking my butt into gear to lose that, plus an additional 10lbs.
My question is this: Should I keep my cheat day, or continue to go as hard as possible?
I have decided that I want to cut the cheat day because I am literally a junk food addict. I experience withdrawal when not eating junk, and whether or not I can have junk dictates my happiness. I am literally depressed when I can''t stuff my face with greasy, sugary foods. I feel that by eating these foods once a week, I am reinforcing the cravings and keeping myself addicted. I want to cut junk food completely out of my life. Of course I will eat out or have a slice of cake occasionally if the occasion calls for it, but no more weekly binges.
How can I accept the fact that junk is no longer a part of my life? I feel like the only thing that got me through the weeks on my diet before was thoughts of junk food on Sundays. That is no way to live. i don''t want food to control my life anymore.
How can I finally end this cycle? Will it get easier not to eat junk overtime? How can I not be depressed over my loss of junk food?

Three Amazing Steps To Losing Weight

Cheat days are one of the stupidest things I''ve heard of. Most people use them as an excuse to consume 3X more calories than they should. No, you shouldn''t keep the ''cheat day.''
Instead allow yourself a healthier, tasty treat each day. Spread out the extra calories so that you don''t sabotage yourself. Plan it right into your meal plan for the day. I love those jumbo blueberry muffins. They are high in fats and carbs so I make sure to balance it out and keep my calories for the day where they should be. Make sure you burn a few extra calories too if you go over your calories for the day; but try not to make going over for treats a regular occurrence.
Binging is a mindset. If it''s allowed sometimes then you really haven''t stopped the behavioural pattern that is making you gain the weight. Think about why you binge. Do you think you''re ''owed'' the treats for doing so well? Do you restrict your calories too much and give into cravings for high calorie junk foods? Do you just really like the taste? If so, isn''t there any healthier options you could snack on instead? Is it boredom? Is it thirst? Figure out why and then fix it.
- You have to decide what is more important:
Healthy, fit body or junk food.
Personally, I choose health over junk. A slice of pizza every once in awhile is okay. Binging once a week is not. It can and does still lead to weight gain as you''ve discovered.
You have to start training yourself mentally to be happy with eating healthy and exercising regularly instead of being miserable when you don''t eat crap. It''s hard to do but once you train and discipline yourself saying no to garbage becomes a whole hell of a lot easier.
