how can an 8 th grader lose 20 pounds?

Okay so im a 14 year old girl and i weigh 135 pounds im only 5''1 so im kinda chunky. Im going into high school next year and id like to lose about 20 pounds 15 is okay too. I am also a diabetic so i cant starve my self but i can do like all liquid diets with orange juice milk and water. I need to know what foods and excercises to do. Im in pe so im active for about 30 min a day anyway but i can workout after school as well. What foods should i eat and what workouts should i do? This is not to impress anyone this is because I want to be healthy thanks for you answers:)

Take the first weeks to start slowly. Instead of taking the car to some where close by, walk there and forget elevators, take the stairs. Then start running/jogging [do you have a treadmill?] if not, just KEEP MOVING!

I like to do pushups, squats and jump rope. I hate going out when it''s hot so I can do this at home in front of the tv even. Also, I bought some tension bands for exercise and they''re good for resistance exercises [think weights w/o the heaviness]

As for food, don''t think of it as a diet, just healthier options. Eat grilled chicken, veggies [remember the greener, more colorful the better]. For salads, keep it interesting and mix it up. It''s all about experimentation to avoid getting into a rut. I like eating lentils, beans, grains, etc. Also avoid soda, clear/dark, whatever, it''s bad for you. Drink water, lots of it.

Is there a friend you can start doing all this with? It''s really good if you have somebody that lives close to you who can go through this for motivation/support. Or you can email me!

As with anything, just hang in there but don''t let this completely take over your life. Keep in mind that the best ''makeover'' is your attitude. Be confident in 8th grade and don''t let anybody get you down. Good luck!

  • eat some fruits and veggies, also some fiber, makes a fruit salad with yogurt and stuff make some protein shakes i had one before that taste like snickerdoodle (look up recipes, my mom always made them for me) im 15 i weigh 114-120 im pretty lazy but i have a fast matabalism, i use to eat whatever i want now i cant so im starting too work out and when i do for 2 days i end up beig able to run really fast amd more fit, its different for everyone but those foods will help. try jogging and walking for 15 or maybe 20 mins and then at the end run as fast as you can (strech before all of this) then when you get home wait for a while then start doing some sit up and push up and stay in a push up position as long as you can. it will help if i did this for a week id loose alot of weight because my matablism but im lazy :D . and drink 8 ounces of water and orange juice. good luck hun.!
  • Well since you''re still growing you should be eating mostly whatever you want but the foods to stay away from would be like: fastfood of any sort, packagedsnacks, most sweets, and greasy foods. These are all unnatural foods to your system and contain unhealthy additives. Foods to eat would be anything fresh, green, and hand prepared. Meat without sauces will usually be fine but stay away from greasy, fried, or charred meats (Really charred meat is cancerous but not weight related). Eat what you consider healthy and don''t be afraid to eat anything. Eat whatever you like but just be conscious of if its healthy or not. Whatever you do, do not be bulimic. Exercises like jogging, running, stairclimbing, etc, will help your fat burning but will most likely cause you to gain weight (muscle that is!)
