Does eating lots of fats help you gain weight?

15 years old, always been very underweight.

I want to gain some fat first, before I start trying to get muscle.

So I''m asking if eating lots of fats (like putting butter on lots of things, drinking full fat milk, eating lots of red meat) will help me achieve this? Will it actually help me gain more weight, or will it simply clog my arteries and give me cholesterol?

Thanks!
I''m a boy, just thought I''d clear that up!

Three Amazing Steps To Losing Weight

If you are looking to gain weight, you can actually do both together. Also, the idea is to eat a high calorie diet made from carbohydrates rather than indulge in fatty food like you mentioned. I approve the idea about using full fat milk but would suggest limiting your red meat to less than 20g per day. The idea is also to get the right workout along with the proper sleep in order to see significant progress.

I would suggest eating a high calorie diet instead of one filled with fat is because your body only requires a certain amount of fat which you can possibly get from the excess calories from your carbohydrate. I also do not suggest so much protein as a fuel source as it leaves behind nitrates which can be put your kidneys and liver under unnecessary stress. I would suggest eating things like potatoes, biscuits, pasta, noodles, rice and bread in order to get the high calorie diet from carbohydrates. If fixing 6 meals up can be a problem due to the lack of time or if you are looking for something more convenient, I would suggest looking to drink 500ml of milk in between your meal for a total of 3 times a day. Increase the amount of milk you drink by 100ml for each serving every week if you realize that you do not gain weight after a week of effort.

The next thing to get right is definitely sleep even before exercise. This is because even if you have the best workout and you get improper rest or insufficient amount of it, chances are this will cause you to lose weight and fall sick. One particular fact most people do not get right is definitely quality. Quality sleep means you need to sleep and wake up all by yourself. This can be difficult but I will still encourage you to do it on the weekend if possible and sleep the scheduled amount of hours on the weekdays when you are busy.

The workout is the main trigger to help you gain weight. This is done by using the workout at http://gohforth.com which I have seen many of my clients used and see effective results. The result of gaining 1 pound every week is quite possible as this workout will help you to trigger major muscles and help with progressive weight gain with little to no down time.

  • It will be both, so don''t overdo it. Gradually put on weight by still keeping a balanced diet, but maybe making your portion sizes a little bigger.

    Good luck!
  • be careful.. too much can spike your cholestrol levels an also add belly fat

    just workout hard
have 1.5 grams of protein for each pound u weigh
an eat 20 x your body weight from calories

    that should be enough
  • no as long as it''s healthy fat and not saturated it shouldn''t give you artery problems. Nut butter is a good choice.
So is avocado. But don''t eat just fats, try to load up on carbs and protein too. You need a good balance. Clif bars
have a lot of carbs in them and if you don''t exercise you''ll probably gain some weight eating them. Adding bread to any meal will add calories. I don''t know about red meat but I''d research the health facts on that more becuase I''m not sure how healthy a lot of that is for a girl your age. I don''t think you have to worry about it too much, though.
  • Don''t put lots of butter on things. The others are fine though. Yes, it should help.
  • it dosen''t matter how you eat fat , it matter how you consume or use fat your. If you eat fatty food then satisfactory level is high . If you eat less fatty and spiced food then your satisfactory level low and you eat that thing more. Mean you can eat meat half kg. but you cant eat creamy butter cake 250 gm.
My think is that to gain weight you need to eat spicey meat. Alternate is high flame butter or ghee.
