Are whey powder shakes good for losing weight?

I want to lose weight so I thought more protein would help? Is Whey powder shakes good for weight loss?

How to Use Free Weights to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:

It says on my bottle that whey protein powder should not be used as a fat loss supplement. To lose weight you need to follow a calorie deficit !

Other Answers:

  • No. It's a simple protein which can be absorbed and digested fast. Unless your body's going to make use of the protein (E.g. right after a workout) then it will get turned into glucose. http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/glossary/g/gluconeogenesis.htm If you want to lose weight, eat foods that fill you up. Lentils, meat, eggs (especially eggs), vegetables porridge (meh). Whey protein does NOT fill you up. I could down 4 shakes in 1 minute and still be hungry an hour later.
  • Proteins are good, I am taking them at evening when I am getting hungry, but they can help you only for don`t overeating at night hours. This what I can advice is pure green coffee bean extractRead reviews on this website, there are hundreds of reviews of people who already taking ithttp://pure-green-coffee-bean-extract.comJust open the "VIEW DETAILS" pages and scroll down then you will see all the reviews and can make a decision is a good product or not, buying anything without reading reviews is a really bad idea I think.

How to Lose Stomach Weight

Okay so if you want to lose weight just follow this. I helped one of my friends who was originally 200 lose 80 pounds in 2 months. And my cousin who was 180 lose 40 pounds. They just followed these rules of mineEat healthy - eat mostly fruits, vegetables, and whole grains (brown rice, whole wheat bread/ cereal) - eat less red meat/ fatty dairy products - eat lean meat (I.e poultry and mostly seafood) and fat free dairy products/ eat tofu/ bean curd ( tastes good and is low calorie protein source) - eat big breakfast, skip lunch, small dinner ( don't skip breakfast it is essential and if u do u will just get super hungry doing the next meals, plus it's unhealthy) - avoid eating outside (ESP fast food restaurants) if absolutely have to you should get a salad or small subway sandwich - avoid can products/ instant packages (instant noddles) - avoid toppings/ sauces (ketchup, mustard, etc) soy sauce is okay but not too much cuz it contains a lot of sodium - eat less than 2500 calories per day (keep watch/ you should be keeping record) - 40% veggies, 20% fruits, 30% grain, 10% meat/ dairy products - eat fruits for desert, no ice cream/ junk food; or skip desert entirely - drink a lot of water (about 10 bottles a day) - eat a lot of watermelon (consists of 95% water, low calories, taste good, makes you full easily) - no bags of chips/ vending machine food/ soda no matter what!!! - it's better to eat whole fruits, then juices or dried fruits, not only cuz of processed sugar but cuz it is condensed. For ex one raisin has the same amount of calories as a grape.- also most important of all learn to control yourself! Its easy for one to dream of losing weight but its hard to actually do it!Exercise!!! - run, swim, and bike ( these are the activities that burn the most calories) if u can't run just walk! I suggest run at least 20 miles a week, or walk 40 miles! And it's not as hard as it sounds! Trust me! At first it may seem hard eventually it wont - you could join a sport team - get a gym pass and a working out buddy so you guys can push each other, otherwise you might get lazy. You can do your running here on the running machines/ ellipticals - do push ups, sit ups, crunches ( but this is not a must but rather extra/ doesn't burn much calories but rather changes your fat into muscle)Sleep!!! - sleep more, earlier - the more your sleep, the more calories you burn ( due to breathing/ not eating for a long time) but don't sleep too much. 10 hrs/ day is good!

Army rangers question?

I have been thinking about joining the army.
Really interested in trying out for ranger school. Not exactly sure how it works, but do you sign up for the military and be able to try out for it, or do you have to already be in the army for a certain amount of time before you can try for it.
I have been working out for a while now, and I wont sign up until I am physically ready for it. What are some ways I can prepare myself physically before signing up? I''m new to this idea so still trying to think of what I should prepare for.

Also, I am only a greencard holder, not a citizen yet. Will that be a problem?
Thanks in advance everybody!

Lose Weight the Right Way and Keep it Off

First of all your physical preparations are way too far out for anything you''ll be able to benefit from in Ranger school. I went into the Army in the best shape of my life but with the way BCT is structured now you hardly get to run and the workouts are a joke. Top that off with the fact that kids have gone soft and file complaints every time they get smoked and you create an environment where those who go in great shape end up coming out in average shape at best. That being said don''t slack on PT before going in. Your best way in would be to go in beast shape, blow the PT tests out of the water and show the Drills you aren''t a S%#tbag and be offered a chance to go to RASP. In that case if you pass and do well afterwards you''d definitely be able to go to Ranger school at either PFC or SPC.

If you don''t get a chance to go through RASP you will proceed from BCT to your unit and when you "go" to Ranger school (if you go at all) will be determined by your unit. They pick who they send and when they send them so you will have little control over this. All you can do is work hard and try your best while expressing your interest in going and hope that someone cares enough about your career to take the time and set you up with a slot for Ranger school. As I said before there is no set timeline for this so its impossible to give you an answer. Could be a few months, could be never.

Final route is become an officer (not going to list all the ways to do that you can read somewhere else) and go Infantry as your branch. After IBOLC if you pass everything that is required of you, you will 100% get a chance to go. You also won''t have to complete a pre-ranger course although IBOLC is sort of a pre-ranger course in and of itself.

Can''t answer your greencard question but I believe you can obtain citizenship through joining the Army... don''t hold me to that.

Also to that garbage above by some of these bro''s who aren''t Rangers. Rope climbing? Really? If you can''t climb a rope already don''t even bother trying to be a Ranger. As for swimming if you are a decent swimmer you will be fine the swim test is a joke and is more about conquering your fear of heights if you have one. Honestly the run to and from the pond is harder than the swim test especially if you put all your junk in a trash bag. (You''ll see when you get there what I mean) I''m sure these other guys would tell you if they''d gone to Ranger school but they either haven''t or probably failed in the first week. As for weight training I lift weights 6 times a week. While sure this might not help with what I did in Ranger school you need to remember the Rangers are a fraternity. Do you want some yoked guy joining your fraternity or Baby arms McGee? See my point... Either way you will come out looking like a starving child. I personally lost 30 pounds (205 to 175) but it comes back quick.

Finally you don''t try out for Ranger school unless I was just too awesome and missed the sign for "Ranger School Tryouts". As I said before you have to express interest and prove yourself then your unit sends you. Not oh hey lets send everybody who wants to go to survival island to fight to the death. Winner goes to Ranger school. Although I might have just thought of a great idea. At best you''ll be competing with guys from your immediate unit who want to go but its usually not an issue because either not that many people want to go or not that many people want to do the work to send their soldiers.

....I keep reading more of these responses and finding garbage so here comes some more

You do not need to be Airborne qualified to go to Ranger. In fact if you can avoid it do so and go to Airborne after. It will be one less thing to worry about getting injured doing, especially considering the fact Florida''s drop zone was as hard as pavement and covered in thorn bushes.

Also to Mr. Full Battle Rattle up there who probably doesnt even know what that means, thats a terrible idea. Save your knees as much as possible before and especially your back. You can ruck to prepare but don''t go killing yourself because Ranger school is a grind and it all adds up.

Finally I believe the last point I need to respond to is that they have programs to get you ready? Are you kidding me guy? They expect you even in pre ranger to be fully ready and capable to go. They don''t get you in shape they give you a gut check and then make sure you aren''t mentally challenged and aren''t wasting the time of 4th 5th or 6th RTB. You better show up in shape to pass Ranger school to the pre-Ranger course or I promise you won''t make it through...as you shouldn''t if thats what you really try to pull.

  • You can ask you''re recruiter about ranger school and have him find ways to get you into ranger school after basics or whatever time he can get you. You don''t have to be in the army for a certain time to be allowed into the course. There are a lot of 2nd Lt.''s and Privates who go. You also don''t have to wait to be physically ready. Usually, you are sent to preparation programs and are given time to prepare with other soldiers and instructors who will prepare you. Its best to just join anyways cause'' there are many workouts in the military that can help you. Workouts like putting on full battle rattle and walking or running with your buddies on a path that goes around base. Also, there are requirements like going to airborne school (I think) and other stuff.

Being a green card holder is fine cause the military helps you get citizenship.
  • It isn''t a problem that you are just a greencarder holder, as you can join the Rangers with the green card aswell.
Firstly, you have to be an Army Corp before signing up for Ranger School. You need to get through Basic Training, ofc before that, take the ASVAB. After getting your Basic Training you will be named a fully graded soldier of the U.S Army. The most important thing is that you have to apply for the "Army", not the Navy or others, because Rangers are the best light infantry forces in the world, and they are recruiting only from the Army.
Also try to score the best marks at your APFT and others, because Rangers don''t accept every Army Man who applied for the Ranger School.

For your preparations(Fitness Trainings), make a schedule. This schedule must be an priority for you and you should respect it. Make push-ups, sit-ups etc. as you''ll need a great resistance. Start swimming, and swim not occasionally, but everyday if you can.
Go and start rope climbing because this is another main task you''ll meet. Also go at the gym and start lifting weights, but don''t get too shaped because this won''t help you, it will just make your trainings harder.

Well this is what I will start doing from this summer, hope this helps bud'', and wish you luck!:)
  • Ranger School is an Advanced Combat Leadership school. You can NOT enlist for it and you can NOT do it out of basic unless you are one of the very very few 11x OSUT soldiers that get selected to go.

Why isn''t my stomach getting flat? I''m getting really exhausted and frustrated about it?

I''ve been exercising and dieting for a month and of course that''s not that long and I shouldn''t be expecting too much. But I have learned over the years of on and off long term exercising and dieting, that my stomach never gets sculpted and ''flat''. It''s just really frustrating.

I am prone to constipation if I eat too many hard foods and I am a regular bloater. My stomach type is not like your usual, so it doesn''t get that nice flat look. I don''t eat chocolate or sweets and when I do it''s in moderation and my diet, though not too strict, is fine. I''ve been trying my best to use alternatives for high in fat foods and I''ve been eating protein, carbs, and gluton regularly (I know gluton is bad for you but it;s in like everything, so it''s extremely hard to avoid it, especially with my family who are not too healthy)

As for my exercising, I run 30-35 min 5 times a week and do 30-60 min ab, thigh, arms, and butt workouts 3 times a week. I''ve been doing this for a full month now, and I''m planning on continuing and see how I get in June.

But still, I''ve been seeing really good results for my thighs and a little on my butt, but my stomach is pooching and I''m getting REALLY exhausted about it.

what should I do? At this point I''d do anything. Should I cut out something, or eat less of it? Or what kind of exercises should I lean toward?

Thanks to whoever answers or gives advice. It''s extremely appreciated.

Hope my tips prove helpful for you.

  • chg your diet up veggies fruits and leave the refined white stuff alone, constipation will do this to your tummy, never go more than a day without an effortless bm
  • your drinking cold drinks like soda
  • When you run, how fast do you normally run? If you just jog then that could be the reason. I find that sprinting for intervals during a run helps a lot because when you sprint you really work your abs (google some professional sprinters and look at their abs) and so you will build muscle there and through having muscle you will burn off fat from that area. If you are talking about a bloated stomach and not a fat pocket, then this has to do with your diet or you may have a food allergy, such as wheat or gluten, or lactose intolerance. If you can then get a lactose test. Or try cutting gluten out of your diet for 2 weeks and see what happens, if it''s not that then try the same with wheat. A lot of people are sensitive (if not intolerant) to dairy.. I know that milk bloats me, unfortunately it also makes my skin really nice and is a good source of protein for me (I don''t eat much white meat and never red meat). Drinking a peppermint tea after each meal also helps with digestion and will naturally flatten your stomach. Drinking small amounts of water often throughout the day is another tip that should keep your stomach flat.
