How to Set Weight Loss Goals

Recommended Answer:

Gaining muscle takes the same amount of focus and preparation as losing weight. Some important facts about gaining muscle: •You can't necessarily gain muscle without gaining some fat as well. •There are no magic foods, powders or pills that will allow you to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. Some people can do this naturally (again, the genes), but most will gain some fat along with the muscle. •Your body is very different from a bodybuilder--trying to gain mass to look like them is not the best idea. They have different muscle fibers than you and some may even be getting a little help from illegal substances. •If you're a teenager, you'll have a hard time changing your body dramatically. It's changing constantly and it will change even more as the years pass. •Gaining weight requires eating more and lifting more Gaining muscle requires that you eat more calories than you burn. For those with high metabolisms, that may seem impossible, but if you try a few of these tricks, you'll find that adding calories to your day is easier than you think:•Choose calorie-rich foods like granola, bagels, biscuits, avocados, olives, corn, meat, nuts, peanut butter, milk, yogurt and cheese. •Add extra calories to your meals by using milk instead of water for soups, sauces and hot cereals. •Sprinkle powdered milk into casseroles. •Add calorie-rich foods (like avocado, cheese and dressing) to sandwiches and salads •Mix beans, meat or cheese into pasta or side dishes •Snack on yogurt, shakes, crackers and dip •Keep a food diary for a week or so to get an idea of what you're eating and where you can add more calories The trick is to add calories without adding too much saturated fat. You can also consider downing smoothies or meal replacement shakes in between meals.Lift, Lift, LiftOnce you get your calories under control, you need to start liftingweights. This will help you gain more muscle and help minimize theamount of fat you gain (although you should expect to gain some fatas well). Folks trying to gain muscle should: •Lift heavy. This means lifting enough weight that you can only complete about 6-8 repetitions of each exercise. The last few reps should be difficult--the last one should be really hard, but not impossible. •Have longer recovery periods between sets •Have more recovery days between workouts •Use spotters to avoid injury •Continue with cardio, but keep it at maintenance level--around 2-3 days of cardio a week to keep your heart in shape •Start with a full body program 2-3 nonconsecutive days a week, if you're a beginner. Allow your body a few weeks to get used to lifting weights before you tackle more intense routines.

How to Use Couch-to-5K to Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:

There is no healthy way to drop 20 pounds that quickly. The more excess fat you have on your body, the quicker you can drop weight. However the only way to lose weight successfully and keep it off is through diet and exercise. You need to start weight training. It will not bulk you up, especially if you have no history of lifting, and most people lack the genetics to look like a body builder anyway. But lifting weights will help build and strengthen muscle, which will increase your metabolism. To burn fat, you also need to get on a cardio regimen. Jogging, the elliptical machine, biking - aim for 5x a week for 30 minutes to help lose weight quickly. You also need to cut calories - aim for eating 1500 a day if you need to drop weight quickly. However, when doing this it is absolutley CRUCIAL that your 1500 are pure nutrition. Cut out refined sugar, high-fat foods, and avoid processed foods because they are full of sugar and sodium.Sodium will make you retain water and leave you bloated, cutting out sodium will help you lose that retained water and lose weight. (You still need some sodium because it is an important electrolyte). Instead, focus on lean proten (chicken, turkey breast) that is baked or grilled (nothing fried - it's added fat and less nutrition!). Vegetables and fruits are a must - raw is best, they lose nutritional value the more you cook them.Look for whole grains, with fiber and low sugar content. When in doubt, look for food items with less than 2g of "SUGAR" per serving, avoid foods with high fructose corn syrup or anything like that in the ingredients list -- you're best off shopping the outside of the grocery store (produce, meat counter, bakery for WHOLE GRAIN BREAD) and avoid the isles filled with processed, unhealthy food.

  • hey omg me too! im 160 wanting to be a lot lower by august 22nd and I found some great solutions that are starting to help me out and im losing weight around my face and arms so what I did was every morning I drank 2 cups of water first thing in the morning by doing this it is supposed to increase your metabolism by 24 percent (about 9 min faster) and just eating healthy like don't starve yourself have some veggies but cut out excess things like dips and sauces and sugar is a killer oh and also its sooo much easier to lose weight by using a calorie counter or journal I recommend myfitnesspal its free and helps you keep track good luck girl im with u!remember exercise wont bring instant results your weight is 10 percent hereditary 10 percent amount of exercise and 80 percent diet
  • For weight loss, dieting is more effective than exercise. Reducing your intake of junk sugar will help as in items 22 and 106 in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htm The natural sugars in fruits are OK as they are metabolised to glucose slowly due to their high fiber content. Fruits are low in calories and are not fattening. Most fruits are metabolism boosting foods and most vegetables as well and that helps for weight loss.

How can I gain weight?

I am 6''1, 150 pounds. The only excercise I do is about 25 pullups a day and 10 reps of pushups through the entire day. My cardio is minimal. I eat about 5 meals a day and still nothing! No matter what I eat I don''t gain weight.

How can I gain weight!?

Lose Weight and Block Fat

Recommended Answer:
Depending on your age, you will need a lot more calories than you need. Also, sleep and the right workout are important if you are looking to gain weight as they help you to develop the right trigger that will cause the body to break out and grow rather than to be laid back.

I would suggest eating a high calorie diet instead of one filled with fat is because your body only requires a certain amount of fat which you can possibly get from the excess calories from your carbohydrate. I also do not suggest so much protein as a fuel source as it leaves behind nitrates which can be put your kidneys and liver under unnecessary stress. I would suggest eating things like potatoes, biscuits, pasta, noodles, rice and bread in order to get the high calorie diet from carbohydrates. If fixing 6 meals up can be a problem due to the lack of time or if you are looking for something more convenient, I would suggest looking to drink 500ml of milk in between your meal for a total of 3 times a day. Increase the amount of milk you drink by 100ml for each serving every week if you realize that you do not gain weight after a week of effort.

The next thing to get right is definitely sleep even before exercise. This is because even if you have the best workout and you get improper rest or insufficient amount of it, chances are this will cause you to lose weight and fall sick. One particular fact most people do not get right is definitely quality. Quality sleep means you need to sleep and wake up all by yourself. This can be difficult but I will still encourage you to do it on the weekend if possible and sleep the scheduled amount of hours on the weekdays when you are busy.

The workout is the main trigger to help you gain weight. This is done by using the workout at http://gohforth.com which I have seen many of my clients used and see effective results. The result of gaining 1 pound every week is quite possible as this workout will help you to trigger major muscles and help with progressive weight gain with little to no down time.

  • Drink a gallon of milk over a span of 3 days. Continue eating lots of carbs, breads, potatoes. Don''t try to eat sugars, but if you workout, while eating lots of carbs you should gain weight
  • EAT is that really hard?!!!lolz
This is my dream hve fun;)
  • You don''t need to stop cardio but here''s what you should do.

    -low heart rate cardio
    -train for strength
    -have a high calorie diet

You burn a lot of fat when your heart rate goes up, but I know ppl that just work muscles, and no cardio and they gain a lot of weight and strength. GL
  • You can always eat a bunch of fast food and stuff but I think it''ll be better if you gained that weight in muscle. I suggest you eat a lot of proteins and good fats and eat alot and then work out more. Here are some links to sites with advice on how to build muscle mass. Best wishes!!

I have a hard time getting out of depression?..?

Can someone help me please?
Also everyone is telling me to take pill etc..but I know I will get addicted and I will be dependent on it, I don''t want that..Can you help?

Lose Weight For Free Fast And The Foods That Help You Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
Okay, I understand. Depression is something that really ruins one''s happiness and ability to see the positivity of life. What I suggest is this:

- Are you being sociable? By that I mean, are you seeing friends all the time, going out with them, meeting new people, partying (possibly)? You begin to feel really isolated if you don''t see a lot of people and communicate with them, and this leads to the feeling of loneliness on both literal and emotional level. See people, arrange things with friends.

- You say you have a full time job. Does this entail slaving away in a room at a desk most of the time? Are you moving around constantly and on the go? If you aren''t, you NEED to change that. Start perhaps by going for walks in the morning or evening (or when you have time) in nature. This means near a river, out in the fields, amongst the trees etc. This will help you feel more in touch with your surroundings and give you peace. There is something very calming about the beauty of nature, and how it simply lives simply. It reminds us of how we should be.
Now, perhaps you should join a gym or sports class. Not to lose weight or anything like that, but to feel good. Exercise gives you those endorphins and keep positivity and wellbeing at a high. Boost those exercise levels and I promise you that you will feel much better.

- Are you sick of routine? Or do you thrive on it? It''s important to have a balance. The chaotic person ends up feeling lost at the end of the day many a time, and so does the routine-loving person when things just don''t go their way. Keep a good sleep routine where you go to bed early and wake up early, you will make the most of your day if you do this. But, even though you have allocated time for work and sleep, you should also allow room for change. I don''t know your life, but if you look at it, you will know which things you need to allow to pass over you and just happen.
Make sure you don''t overwork yourself either. Feeling tired at the end of the day everyday because you HAD to do all of this stuff that doesn''t really matter to you isn''t helping.

- What are you eating? A healthy diet is so important to make you feel good about yourself and about life, giving you a great boost of energy and radiance. I''m not saying cut out EVERYTHING, but one by one, start to cut back on the amount of JUNK food you have each day. Eg: that cookie, McDonalds lunch etc. Replace this with nutrients, like fruit, vegetables, carbs and protein. Perhaps have a banana and wild berry smoothy every morning to boost you for the day (make it yourself though. Too many venues put giant amounts of sugar in them). Perhaps you can do this after your yoga in the morning :)

- Relationships? Are they getting you down because they aren''t working? This is one of the things that —as hard as it is to do sometimes—you need to let go of. Change is a certainty. Similarity and familiarity is something you cannot depend on. Those people that leave you, let you down or make you feel bad are just parts of life, the obstacles. They don''t mean anything good if you don''t let them test you. They are challenges in life you need to overcome and move on from. You are worth loving, and you are the only person who knows how special you are completely, so don''t get sad over the people who didn''t try or failed to see that.

I hope this helps, and I hope you feel better soon :)

Rapid Weight Loss Sucks - Why Losing Weight Fast Doesn''t Work and What You Can Do About It

Recommended Answer:
Losing weight is about 80% what you eat and 20% exercise, so focus on what you''re eating. Change your lifestyle, don''t go on a diet. Eat less junk/fast/fried foods and focus on eating a variety of foods including fruits and vegetables, but also lean proteins (chicken, turkey, fish, lean beef, plain greek yogurt), healthy fats (olive oil, avocado, nuts, hummus), brown rice, oatmeal, milk, low fat cheese, whole wheat bread, etc. If you feel hungry, ask yourself, "Do I want some vegetables or just junk food?" If the answer is junk food, then you''re not really hungry. Drink a big glass of water and wait 20 minutes. If you still feel hungry, but not for vegetables, then go do something else to keep yourself busy like text a friend or read a book.

If you change your lifestyle and get committed to eating healthier and working out, then you will never have to worry about losing weight for the rest of your life! Doesn''t that sound great?! It does to me.

You can''t rush weight loss because you will end up with saggy skin from losing too fast. However, because your starting weight is high, you will be able to lose pretty fast for awhile, but do it smart and you will look great. Exercise is important too, but you don''t have to exercise to lose weight, but it makes you look better. Stick to walking right now and just do as much as you can. Tomorrow, try to do a little more and the same thing for every time you work out. This way you''ll push yourself a little and gain more progress. If you feel burning or stitches, then slow down until they stop.

I would suggest joining a free website called SparkTeens.com. It''s a place where people who want to get healthier can get some guidance and support, but it''s geared towards teenagers. You can connect with other teens trying to get healthier and lose weight and see what''s working for them. Good luck!

Is 1200 calories too little of an amount for an active 14 year old?

To start off, I am not looking for sympathy just an answer. I am a active 14 year old who does track everyday after school, and weight training on the weekend, I am 5 feet and 3.25 inches exactly lol and about 106-107 lbs. Currently I have decreased my calorie intake so I could lose a bit of weight since I gained about 5 lbs after my sports season ended. I am starting to become concerned with myself, yet unsure whether or not I am eating too little? Also for some reason I am not even losing weight and every day my weight fluctuates between 110-105? I am really curious to what is going on, please help/answer if you can, thanks x

Lose Weight Fast - How NOT to Lose Weight Fast!

Recommended Answer:
5 lbs weight fluctuations are common based on water retention, time of day weighed, etc. I ran your height, weight and activity level through a diet calculator and the range you're eating is roughly 100 calories below what they recommend for extreme fat loss. It would seem to me that you don't need extreme fat loss because you're already fairly lean. Also with your activity level, it's important to eat enough or light headedness, dizziness and fainting could occur.

  • Yes very low your body will go into starvation mode. Eat 1500 ! I guarantee you will lose more weight if you eat more
  • I would say at least 2000 calories per day and get your body weight up to about 125-130ish. Eat a lot of protein so you don't just gain pure fat
  • You need AT LEAST 2000 calories, girls are different, but still around 2000. If you are active you need 2000 at the least. Instead of cutting calories you can watch what you eat like fastfood, junkfood, etc.
  • I think 1500 is the most calories you should eat.. That's what I suggest
  • that is a starving amount. if you exercise daily, you are burning calories. i'd say around 2500 cals
