Does a growth spurt help you lose fat and weight?

I'm about 5'2, and a 15 year old guy. I run Varsity Track and workout 5 to 6 times a week. For some reason I just cannot lose weight. I've changed my diet and lose more calories than I intake daily. But I just can't seem to lose it. Will my growth spurt help me on the journey to losing weight? My friend was overweight but over the summer he grew a few inches and now he is really skinny. I thought maybe he worked out more than me, but I've ran most of the summer, played basketball almost everyday, and ate more veggies and fruit. So will a growth spurt help me to lose weight?

Think about what you're asking. You're asking if you can grow and lose weight. Growth means increasing your volume and that means increasing your weight. Growth means adding more of everything from muscle to organ tissue to bone...etc. However, it does not mean adding more fat. So, it is possible to grow in height and body materials without adding fat thereby creating a slimmer look. It can, however, also mean adding more body fat such that the result is the opposite of looking slimmer. It's all up to your DNA...your genome. If you don't like the result, read on.We are all 99% nature (genetics) and 1% nurture (changeable). Here is what we can do to sculpt our bodies.1. Add fat - Adding fat for all but the extreme ectomorph is a simple matter of eating too many calories over a long period of time. We have no control over where the fat will be deposited on our body.2. Lose fat - Fat loss must begin with diet. Exercise can help but no exercise can make someone lose fat if they eat too many calories. We have no control over where the fat leaves our body.3. Add muscle - Adding muscle size requires a commitment to very hard strength training (anaerobics). We don't get big muscles from aerobic ("cardio") exercise. It only comes very slowly from working out against substantial resistance.4. Lose muscle - There is no healthy way to lose natural (genetic) muscle. We can, however, allow our muscles to atrophy or grow smaller by not using them. We can also "waste" muscle by starving them of nutrition. These, of course, are not a healthy options but they are the only way to make lean muscle smaller (less volume). That's it. That's all we can do without surgery. Avoid junk food, fast foods, pastries, desserts, anything with sugar (cancer cells feed on sugar), gluten, syrup (even canned fruit in syrup), peanut butter, fat/grease (pork, wieners, chops, bacon, salami, pizza, chips, fries), pasta, potatoes, ramen, popcorn, white bread, rice, canned veggies, ice cream (it's lard + chemicals), soda (loaded with toxins), chips, tobacco, alcohol (kills brain cells) and coffee (carcinogenic). No oil except olive and mac nut. To keep your skin clear, drink water, tea, unsweetened veggie and fruit juice. Join a gym; they have all the equipment and staff to show you how to use it to get the look you want to achieve, but you have to ASK them. Much cheaper than buying your own equipment. Go hiking, biking, jogging, bowling, swimming, rowing, jump rope, play tennis, badminton, volleyball, soccer, jumping jacks, lift weights, trampoline? To tone your tummy, do sit ups, push ups, pull ups, leg lifts, butt raises and crunches.

How to gain a few pounds healthily?

Hi, I'm 17 and currently in the process of enlisting into the air force. (I am enlisting early, I have a year of high school left). I'm 5'4" and when I do my physical exam in about two weeks, I must be at least 110 pounds to pass. They weigh you naked. I am 108pounds with clothes on. How much do you think I weigh without the clothes? (Not to sound weird/perverted...) & How can I gain a few pounds? I have stopped jogging and I attempt to eat more during my meals (It doesn't take much for me to become full) and my parents have been encouraging me to eat lots of peanut-butter, milkshakes, etc. What are some healthy ways to gain some weight within two weeks?

How to Lose Weight Fast by Not Eating

Recommended Answer:

the best way to gain weight is to eat more frequently during the day (5-6 meals instead of 2-3), Don't overdo it on junk food because it's going to make you feel sluggish. Eat healthy food with a higher calorie density- add cheese to food, drink 2% milk, have higher calorie snacks like avocado, nuts, 2% milk fat yogurt, etc.

  • Well, you could gain weight by getting more muscle. Here's a website since I'm not exactly the healthiest girl out there: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/pauline5.htm
  • add just a bit more pasta and bread into your meals, or you can lift weights, muscle tends to weigh a lot
  • Forget about being healthy. Just pig out every day for the rest of the week and eat as much as you can. You can lose any extra weight during your Air Force training.

Whats a good laptop for my preferences?

I'm going to college in a month, and I'm getting my laptop tomorrow for my four years at the university. I want to be able to do everything fast, slow computers do not work for me. I also cannot stand an unreliable computer, I need one I know will perform when I need it to. I also NEED to be able to game, I don't see how I will be able to game on a console much in a college dorm with three guys I don't know. So I will have to switch to PC gaming. I want a computer that will be able to run games I enjoy at a high quality. I'm not really into action packed fps's, so I won't need a PC that can run battlefield 4 at max settings, I do enjoy games like DayZ, Amnesia, Dark Souls, and mainly RPG games. I have a budget of anywhere between $300-700. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to walk into best buy and feel rushed to pick a computer.Oh yeah! I also play alot of FIFA, alooooot of FIFA.

I would go with ASUS or HP. ASUS has the best warranty when it comes to laptops. Some of their models come with a two year warranty. Their higher end comes with a one year accidental warranty. HP can give you a reliable best bang for the buck laptops or they can give you give you a superior system if you step up in their high end systems.Look for a Intel i5 or above or AMD A8 APU or above combined with a dedicated graphics chip. Do not buy anything that has Intel graphics.Brand buying adviceYou get what you pay for. Systems with high end parts with low prices are to be viewed with suspicion. They have to cut corners somewhere to get the price down. What cost you less today is going to cost you more tomorrow.Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. Lenovo will not allow people to read instruction on how to access the BIOS menu or to get info on their puters on their web site unless you connect to them thru Facebook. They do this so they can spy on their users. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony should be avoided because of their heavy modification of Windows and the drivers. If you remove some of the bloat they install, you can cripple the system.Acer, Gateway, and eMachines should be avoided period. Low end system that are driving the race to the bottom.Dell once made a good system and fell from grace. They are now struggling to regain their place in the market. Customer service is one of many problems with this company.Alienware are glorified Dells and are more name then product. Priced extremely high for what you get. They do perform but you can get the same for less by looking around, just not packaged to be eye candy to the gamers.Samsung has a history of using cheap parts in critical areas. Capacitors has been one area Samsung has a known history of going cheap, causing units to fail early. For that reason I would avoid them.ASUS and HP do not modify Windows as bad as the other manufacturers. They have excellent build quality. They might add a lot of bloat but they also makes it easy to get rid of it.Ultrabooks are the higher end of Wintel laptops but they have some of the same concerns as Apple. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. For the money your going to spend on it you can buy a much better laptop with more power.Hybrids are the worse of the worse. The flip or detachable touch screens are just a disaster waiting to happen.Never buy an All In One. They are far worst then laptops of any kind to service and they have a higher failure rate. Choose wisely.:)

  • For me the dell xps ultra book was very good. Also Alienware laptops are very reliable especially the x18 laptop. Final recommendation don't buy an apple computer. They are to expensive and honestly they really don't worth the price.

weight loss is measured by energy in and energy out. To lose weight you need to cut back on the energy your consume and increase the energy you burn. So yes cutting calories will help, but you really should just add exercise and make healthy food choices.
