If you can eat 2000 calories a day, why does it matter where it comes from?

I.e. so many studies say to cut down on sugar, sweets, fatty foods, red meat, packaged foods, gm foods and a whole lot else. But isn't this kind of like the whole pound of feathers / pound of rocks argument? Why should it make any difference if your calories come pure lard that's caked inside your oven or from raw fruits and veggies?Btw I mean why should it matter if your sole intention is to lose weight [not necessarily to be healthy]. Thank you.

Sugar and carbs are stored as fat if not used for energy...like white sugar and the junky carbs especially. Fruits and veg keep you lean and won't store as fat if you remain within your caloric range of course...you could eat a ton and be slender. So...unless you are working out 2-3 hours a day, then yeah you could eat more junky carbs...but it's sugar/ carbs is what is one of the main contributors to weight gain, then you have the bad fats. Watch the good fats too, too much of them will put on weight like nuts, olive oil, omega's. Stick with lean proteins and the veggies and fruits are the good carbs and limited good fats...even though fruit has sugar it's a different kind(forget exact name) but you could eat all the fruit and veg you want. Stick with brown rice, plain old fashioned oatmeal, and whole grains preferably spelt bread...whole wheat isn't as great as people say it is. And as for granola...it's not as low fat and healthy as people think. It's all sugar. In addition, processed food just makes you hungrier...there are many studies on that. Junk food,etc. You will fell fuller eating healthier foods...most contain fiber which fills you up. So yeah I think a diet consisting of 2000 calories of healthy foods would maintain your weight...or won't make you as hungry. Eating 2000 calories of junk, as I said...will turn to fat so you'd probably gain if you don't burn it by exercising...and if it's a lot of junk, you'd have to exercise a lot. If your body isn't getting the proper nutrition it needs, you are going to be hungrier.

  • Not sure. I just eat whatever but in smaller portions through out the day so I don't get hungry. Goes together well with my cardio lol

Too self conscious to go on a run around the neighbor hood?

I am an introvert, I have anxiety, I'm shy, and I have the self confidence of a potato. I literally don't even want to go on a walk because I think people see me and think weirdly. I live near my school, and so do a bunch of people, so I'm scared I'll bump into someone I know, or they'll see me from their house or something.I feel like people in cars laugh at me. I know it probably sounds silly, but I can't help it. It's the only thing stopping me from running. I want to live a healthy active lifestyle. I don't want to wait till New Years to make a resolution, I want one now :cI can't get to a gym, and I don't even have room for a tread mill. How can I overcome this 'running in public' issue?Please help, thank youuu! and sorry if this is long ♥

I feel the same way.My solution: I have stairs in my house and I run up and down for 30 minutes every two days. I have lost 10 pounds doing this. I also go for walks at the local lake which is a 4 minute drive away. I used to go for runs in town at 5 AM but I'm too lazy to keep that up. You could try jogging from 5 AM to 6 AM and the only people you'll see are the ones driving to work. Jog on an empty stomach to burn fat reserves.You will feel less shy jogging in public if you take a buddy along.

  • I'm done with my weight loss journey and completely happy with how I feel and how I look right now however losing weight is a challenge for anyone and even losing 5 pounds and keeping it off isn't an easy task. If you want to lose weight in a healthy way that actually lasts, you're not going to lose weight very quickly. But you will be much happier in the long run. 1.) Think positive. By thinking negatively about yourself, you attract more negative things. Know that you're beautiful no matter what. 2.) Do not skip meals! You should be eating about six small meals a day to keep your metabolism up. By not eating, you're actually going to gain more weight because your body will store fat.3.) Eat healthy. It's ok to have a treat or few a day, but keep it at a low. You should be eating a good variety of fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, nuts, dairy, some bread. 4.) Drink lots of water. It fills you up, keeps you hydrated, and can help you lose weight more quickly. 5.) Get active! After 7th grade, I joined a swim team. Swimming is such a great sport and tones you up and burns a lot of calories. Go on walks everyday, play tennis, soccer, go in runs, join a gym; try to get at least 60 minutes of exercise a day.   • Do a lot of interval training aka cardio and body toning. Drink 8 glasses of water. Start eating food in 5 small portions. Don't starve yourself though. When you starve yourself your metabolism slows down and you tend to put on weight. Also drink green tea it helps too. I know cayenne pepper helps speed your metabolism. Don't try to lose weight fast because you'll have to deal with a lot of skin. Try to eat more healthily. Cut out sodas and junk foods out of your diet. I'm not saying cut sugar out of your diet.
