How big do guys usually get after weigh ins, in the smaller divisions?

I know the heavier divisions guys will gain up to 20 plus lbs after weigh ins. But do the smaller guys like the lightweights and below go that high in weight after their weigh ins?

How to Quickly Lose Weight by Drinking Water

Recommended Answer:

Not quite so much because their metabolism is usually a little faster and their average, walking around weight is considerably less than those fighters in heavier weight classes. Seven to ten pounds though is not unusual from what I have observed the few times that I have attended pro weigh-ins the day before judging those fighters fighting. Even after putting on several pounds they are still easily several pounds or more below their usual walking around weight. Adding too much weight back on like that can leave a fighter feeling bloated and sluggish for the fight and so they are not trying to put everything back on which they have lost. Instead they are just trying to regain any strength they may have lost as well as rehydrate adequately so they don't have any problems being weak or becoming dehydrated during their fight then. When I fought full contact that was always my end goal and I never wanted to go into fight with a full stomach. Instead I wanted to go into the fight slightly hungry still and not feeling bloated or sluggish. MMA type fighting really puts more stress on your core area and I can't imagine fighting in that with anything in my stomach at all.

Other Answers:

  • The heavier divisions, they get bigger because it's the biggest division. From 205-265, that's a huge gap. Most divisions are only 10 pounds different. It's not uncommon for guys to put on 10-30 pounds day after weigh ins. That includes the heavyweight divisions. Theres only so much weight you can put on in a day.
  • About 10 lbs.
  • No, 20 pounds to a big is less percentage of his weight than a smaller guy. Whether your big or small your going to gain back about the same percentage of weight. For example say a 200 lbs man gains back 20lb. A 100lbs man who cut would gain around 10lb back.

Should I wait to get a chest piece until after I lose weight?

I'm currently losing weight and doing a good job so far with 25 pounds lost in a month and a half. I would love to get a chest piece (chest tattoo) but I hear it would be warped by the time I get to my target weight. I'm 6'3" and I'm aiming to lose over 100 pounds. Any help would be appreciated.

Six Simple Ways For You To Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
Your not overweight, you are at a good weight. Some people at 13 are 95 pounds and it's very bad because they are under weight. You still need 40-60 minutes of activity though so you can...

go for walk (Outside or treadmill)
Go swimming
Kick around a soccer ball or play soccer.

for everyday:
1. take deep breaths
2. start by 10-20 minutes of walking/jogging (outside or on treadmill or in one spot)
3. 10 crunches or sit ups
4. lunges
5. 20 push-ups (Don't force yourself to do lots. build your way up)

You can plan your own routine, do the routines about 5 days a week.

Avoid eating chips, pop (soda), ect. You can have them once and a while but not every day. Make sure your having a healthy breakfast. Get lot's of sleep, it's good to have 8-10 hours of sleep. Have nice long baths in the mornings on weekends, it will help you wake up and get your day going.

  • Do not drink soda.
  • Please don't try to lose weight! At your age, you are still developing muscle mass and you need to eat properly, and play hard to develop those new muscle cells. If you play some baseball or hockey and get lots of exercise, you will have an appetite in keeping with your body requirements. Just be a kid, and don't worry about weight yet! Please!
  • You are not overweight, but if you want to drop a few pounds try to cut out junk food like chips, cookies, etc. Try to eat some protein at each meal like peanut butter, meat, cheese, beans, etc. Apples are a good fruit which fills you up.
  • being that weight at your age is totally fine. your body is still growing so you will go through phases will you will weigh more at certain amount of times. if you eat a lot of candy and that stuff then stop eating that. if you eat alot of fast food, ice cream, sugary stuff that will make you gain weight. just do jumping jacks, and push ups. you don't want to push yourself too much because you're not even overweight as it is. good luck :-)

Weight!someone who knows what they're talking about!NO HATE!?

Ok so my bestfriend is overweight she needs to lose 100lbs and doesn't know how to..she's willing to do the excerise etc but some tips for her please? Thanks!

How Thai Food Can Help You Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
When I was 250 I hated working out and eating right obviously. I didn't like the gym or working out so I did something that was fun I started skating 2-3 days a week and just adding more activity like taking the stairs and riding my bike. I stopped eating junk candy chips cake cookies pizza etc and stopped eating after 7. I also started fasting every other day and, I lost 115lbs in about 6 or 7 months. I eat 100 calories snacks on Sunday and is a treat. I still skate 2 or 3 days a week and is fun losing the weight made bike riding way easier so therefore more fun. I also eat healthy everyday not fasting but three days a month. Healthy versions of junk isn't so bad.

  • I know what I'm talking about and losing that much weight will take a combination of diet and exercise.
    A good plan would be:

Breakfast: low fat milk on cooked 9-grain cereal (from health food store), mixed with cooked oatmeal and wheat bran. Add some nuts and berries. Drink hot Ovaltine.

Lunch: Egg, tuna or turkey sandwich on whole grain bread with bean or alfalfa sprouts and yogurt w/fruit. If you had meat loaf for dinner, bring a meat loaf sandwich (NO mayo). On cold days, a squatty thermos of hot chili, split peas with ham or beef stew.

Snacks: Fresh (not canned) fruit: banana, orange, apple, kiwi, grapes, peach, nectarine, cherries, pineapple. No chips and nothing ever from a vending machine.

Dinner: salad with white meat chicken and fresh (not canned) veggies: tomatoes, 2 kinds of lettuce, 2 kinds of shredded cabbage, shredded or sliced carrots, alfalfa or bean sprouts, zucchini, hard boiled eggs, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, tofu, cottage cheese...Instead of dressing, squeeze 1/4 tomato over it.

Or homemade bean/vegetable soups; great way to recycle leftovers.

Or omelet: In blender, whip together eggs, tofu, cottage cheese, onions, garlic powder. Cook with mushrooms, chopped tomatoes.

Foods to avoid: junk food, pastries, desserts, sugar, salty foods, syrup (even canned fruit in syrup), peanut butter, fatty/greasy foods (pork, wieners, chops, bacon, salami, pizza), pasta, potatoes, white bread, rice, canned veggies, ice cream, fast food, soda, chips. And of course no tobacco or alcohol in any form. Both of those add wrinkles and destroy your brain. No oil except olive and mac nut. Coffee also rots your brain.

To keep your skin clear, drink water. Veg. juice is good too. But not canned juice (too much sugar.)

Join a gym; they have all the equipment and staff to show you how to use it to get the look you want to achieve. Much cheaper than buying your own equipment. Also hiking, biking, jogging, bowling, swimming, badminton, tennis...

If you lack energy to exercise, take stress B vitamins.
To lose weight, try an appetite suppressant.
  • Just remember, no exercise can substitute a good diet!!!! doesn't matter what you do in the gym if you aren't working hard in the kitchen too.

If I did this, would it be really bad? What could happen? Or would I lose weight in a okay manner?

If I were to have this everyday sometimes switch up dinner would it be okay?

Breakfast: A half green veggie and half fruit smoothie with flax seed and almonds
Snack: Blueberries and baby carrots
Lunch: Flat bread with hummus
Snack: Flax seed chips
Dinner: Brown Rice w/ 3 oz of fish or steak or chicken
w/ steamed broccoli
Water: 3 Liters, and at least one cup of green tea every other day?

Exercise:
100 sit-ups
20 push ups
2 mile walk or 1 hour
200 jumping jacks
70 squats
20 lunges
30 bicycle crunches
30 medium intensity cycling
100 donkey kicks
15 jumping squats
20 reverse crunches
Everyday

And like two laxative pills every 3 days to clean out my colon?

Can I lose 23 pounds by spring break like this?

Foods to Lose Weight Healthily

Recommended Answer:
Add more fruits and vegetables. Your diet is lacking in enough variety that it's going to be very hard to stick with. I would replace some of the flax seed with alternative nuts and seeds. I'd add in a protein and a fruit or vegetable at lunch. Try alternating the brown rice with other healthy cooked grains and grain-like foods such as quinoa (see if you can find a wonderful quinoa/wild rice/brown rice/red rice mix by Truroots—my husband and I love it).

Completely leave out the laxative pills. (1) you do NOT need to "clean out" your colon. That's a myth. If you are eating healthy, getting enough fluids and fiber, it will take care of itself. (2) taking laxatives constantly can be downright dangerous. You SHOULD NOT DO THIS!

Be careful, too, with your exercise. Don't force it. You might want to alternate different exercises on different days. So maybe walk and do your sit-ups and pushups one day, go bicycling the next day, and mix in the other exercises.

You should be able to lose weight, but remember there is no quick weight loss that works, slow and steady with exercise and a healthy diet is the best way.

Will this screw my diet up?

I have been dieting for 3 weeks. I set myself a calorie tracker. I was doin well and was beneath my calorie intake....til I noticed something. The tracker had all my info except it was set to male. I was eating 1500 instead of 1200. Im afraid I wont be able to lose the weight I need to lose by April. :c I wanted to lose about 30 but after that is it possible?

Tips on How to Lose Weight Fast for the New Year

Recommanded Answer:
Oops.. Haha. No, I'm sure you can still reach your goal by April if you now start following the diet based on recommended FEMALE calorie intake :) before you started you were probably eating more than 1500 cals daily anyway (I certainly do!) so you cut back even though you were following the male version of the diet. It might even be better in the long run because you'll have cut down gradually and given your body time to adapt. It will probably help in keeping the weight off.

  • Its allright your doing fine youll.loose it
  • No don't worry it's not a good idea to go too low. Personally I think 1500 cal a day is good to lose weight. If u also pair it up with a bit of exercise u should at least lose 2lbs a week.
  • If you go to the free diet and fitness site sparkpeople.com they can calculate how many calories you should be eating to lose the weight by April. It's a really great site and has lots of dieting, fitness and health support. I've lost about 51 pounds since joining a while back. good luck =)

HELP! I can't stick to my low-carb diet!?

I'm doing a low-carb diet with my friend. Unfortunately it seems that I have no will power or self control. I am addicted to white bread, cereal and cookies! I can't stop picking at these things every time I go into the kitchen... I would stop buying them but I have foreign students staying in the house, and they want sandwiches and breakfast cereals, and it seems unfair to deny them carbs because of my diet.

Does anybody have any tips, or low carb things that I could pick at when I go into the kitchen as opposed to all the processed junk I have been eating?
Thanks :)

4 Simple Tips On How To Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
The reason you can't stick to a low carb diet is because your body really needs carbs. You have to know there are good carbs and bad carbs and good carbs are great for you and provide nutrients and fiber. The main problem with a low carb diet is that once you start eating carbs again, you will gain back all the weight you lost and probably more. It's very hard to eat such low carbs and impossible for most people.

Complex carbs are the ones that give your body the best fuel. They are usually found in foods high in fiber, which break down more slowly, giving you a steady blood sugar level through the day and making you feel less hungry and irritable when mid-afternoon rolls around.

It's a great idea to get more of these carbs into your daily diet:
Fresh fruit, ideally those with a low glycemic Index like apricots, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries
Non-starchy vegetables
Whole grains and foods made from whole grains, such as certain types of bread and cereal
Nuts
Legumes
Dairy products that are not sweetened with sugar, such as yogurt, sour cream, cheese and milk

Your body quickly breaks down simple or bad carbs, giving your blood sugar a spike and sending you running back to the kitchen or snack machine within hours of your last fix. Unless you're an athlete or need a sudden rush of energy for some reason, it's usually best to avoid these carbs in your daily diet:
Refined grains like white bread, white rice and enriched pasta
Processed foods such as cake, candy cookies and chips
White potatoes
Sweetened soft drinks
Sugar

Stop driving yourself crazy and just eat less food and get some exercise. You don't have to do anything drastic like cutting carbs to lose weight. You can still have bread, just pick whole wheat bread. You can still have a cookie every now and then, just not every day. I would recommend that you join www.myfitnesspal.com. It's free and helps you eat the right number of calories per day to lose weight. There are tons of foods in their database, so everything you eat is probably already in there. You log your food and exercise and the pounds will come off. I've lost 537bs so far using My Fitness Pal! Good luck!

Is this a normal weight for a teen

I'm 14, turning 15 in May, and I weigh about 118 pounds. I'm 5' 4" and I don't play any sports. Before Christmas break I weighed around 110, so in only two weeks I gained 8 pounds. I only eat about 1300 calories a day and I work out about 3 or 4 times a week. Is it normal to gain that much weight that fast, and is my weight a decent weight for my age?

How can I lose some weight for track

I run the 400m & 800m in track and I'm a good, solid runner for our team. I was on the A teams for 4x4 and 4x8 last year. I was hoping to stay there this year, but I knew there would be some good competition from my teammates (my cross country teammate went to state - as a freshman!). As it turns out, the majority of our top mid-distance group is not even participating in track this year. So, while I thought there was going to be competition, now it's likely that I will be a necessary part of both teams.
The best three runners also run in both events, and they are all exceptional runners. I've got talent, but I also tend to have too much fat for the distances I run. While I am very muscular and strong, I usually feel very bulky until I get in shape. Even then, I run with a very powerful stride; I'm fast, but not necessarily "quick." I really want to get to my peak running weight so I can support my amazing team.
What kind of diet plan can I follow to start losing fat now so that I'll be prepared? Also, I tend to eat a lot when I get stressed, which often happens right before a race!! It's awful!! Are there any stress-eating management tips I can try?

Six Simple Ways For You To Lose Weight

Recommanded Answer:
Losing weight is about 80% what you eat and 20% exercise, so look at what you're eating. Eat less junk/fast/fried foods, less soda pop and focus on eating a variety of foods including fruits and vegetables, but also lean proteins (chicken, turkey, fish, lean beef, plain greek yogurt), healthy fats (olive oil, avocado, nuts, hummus), brown rice, oatmeal, milk, low fat cheese, whole wheat bread, etc. Go grocery shopping with your parents to ensure they skip the junk and get some of the items I listed above. If the junk's not in the house to begin with, you won't eat it when you're stressed.

If you feel hungry, ask yourself, "Do I want some vegetables or just junk food?" If the answer is junk food, then you're not really hungry. Drink a big glass of water and wait 20 minutes. If you still feel hungry, but not for vegetables, then go do something else to keep yourself busy. You probably feel sick if you eat a lot and race, so keep that in mind too. You always want to be at your best to run, so staying away from junk and soda will really help. Good luck!

How fast will I lose weight?

I weigh 165 pounds right now, I'm 6' tall almost 6'1". As of several months ago I weighed 183 pounds, but I gradually dropped to 165 over the last couple months. I don't know why, I didn't change my diet or workouts at all. What I'm wondering is. I plan on starting to run/speed walk a couple few miles a day, I eat around 900-1400 calories per day any more, as of a few months ago it was much more. How quickly should I start to lose weight? And how much do you think I'll lose? I have a small layer of fat over my stomach/ab area, that I REALLY want to get rid of. How quickly do you think that will go away. Thanks.
Oh and I have 9% body fat, I'm not sure if that is important.

Lose Weight, No Sweat!

Recommanded Answer:
If you burn 500 more calories than you eat every day for a week, you should lose about 1-2 pounds.
If you want to lose weight faster, you'll need to eat less and exercise more.
For instance, if you take in 1,050 to 1,200 calories a day, and exercise for one hour per day, you could lose 3-5 pounds in the first week, or more if you weigh more than 250 pounds. It's very important not to cut calories any further -- that's dangerous.
Limiting salt and starches may also mean losing more weight at first -- but that's mostly fluids, not fat.
When you reduce sodium and cut starches, you reduce fluids and fluid retention, which can result in up to 5 pounds of fluid loss when you get started.

  • very fast
  • That is a really hard one to answer - very individual and lots of variables.

Water weight fluctuations can hide / show weight loss for example.

Something to think about might be to do use a couple of measurements (waist, thigh, etc) along with a scale weight. Gives you another metric to track. When losing weight - it is usually best to give any changes a few weeks to assess any real impact.

Also, make sure you are drinking at least a gallon of water per day. Long term that will make a significant impact.

    Good luck.
