Is it normal for overweight women to feel self conscious about visiting the gynecologist?

Before you criticize me, know that I am on a strict diet and I am losing weight.I am afraid I may have ovarian cancer but I don't want to go to the doctor because I am overweight. What should I do?

How to Lose Weight in 5 Days

Definitely go!!! Ovarian cancer is nothing to wait around for. I don't mean to scare you, but don't let body image stop you from potentially saving your life. Think about it this way: on the off chance you do have ovarian cancer, the symptoms will worsen so badly that you will have to go anyway. So either way you need to visit the doctor. They'll probably do an ultrasound and blood work. Nothing major and will take only a few minutes.I'm at a normal weight, and I still feel weird having a stranger, like a dermatologist or OB-GYN, see my body. But they have seen hundreds of women and nothing phases them. They have seen it all and then some. Doctors are trained to be 100% professional, and they understand that many patients do feel self-conscious. Perhaps bring it up with your doctor when you go. She may help put your fears at ease. But I think every woman, no matter how she looks, is a little nervous going to the gynecologist. It's normal and you're not alone. I wish you the best of luck!

  • I'm very self conscious too but this is very serious. Cancer is a serious problem and you need to get it checked out.
  • I think most women are self conscious when they visit the gynaecologist.Ovarian cancer is serious. You should go to the doctor and have it checked. Don't die in shame.

Will this work out schedule help me lose weight/get fit?

So I am looking to start going to the gym again. I plan to go to the gym 4 days a week and working my way up to 6. I want to do an hour of cardio (walking/running) and another hour of weight training each day (working out different muscle areas each day). In two months, will I be able to see a great difference? I am at ~150 pounds and I want to lose ~25 pounds for the summer. Does my plan sound like it will wok? Thanks for any input =)

Why Losing Weight Fast is Bad!

This regimen will never get you to a 25 pound weight loss in 3 months if all else stays the same. One of the biggest misconceptions about exercise is that it is really useful for weight loss (at least in the amount you describe). If you jog for an hour, you will burn about 300 calories, and weight lifting for another hour might burn 150 (one takes a break between sets and does not lift continuously). So, you will--at best--perhaps drop 5-8 pounds.

BUT--what happens with many people is that after they work out, they feel they EARN a treat and get a bag of chips or a cupcake or whatever, and all the work is out the window; for others, the workout makes them hungry and they eat more.

Exercise is great for your mind and your heart...and can help weight loss at the level you plan, but not give you as much as you want. Here''s what to do: NO STARCH at dinner, that is, no potatoes, rice, pasta, or corn. Meat/fish/chicken, veggie and salad. No bread (except low-carb bread). And NO SNACKING between meals...that raises insulin levels and helps build fat. And no diet drinks or sweets...just water. Good luck.

Is weight loss usually linear? TEN POINTS?

I lost 55lbs and gained 15 or 20 back. I am super depressed and discouraged to restart because I feel like I am just backtracking and relosing weight that I''ve already lost.

Part of the reason that I gained is because I started college and was more focused on school than a healthy diet and exercise.

Does this type of thing happen to a lot of people? Is weight loss always linear, or do people often face hurdles like this?

How can I get motivated and stop beating myself up over this?

The Truth About Losing Weight

Recommended Answer:
Every person who diets goes through the same thing. This is why diet companies make boatloads of money. The best thing you can do is read everything you can about nutrition and use it to your advantage. Knowledge will beat any diet product any day of the week. Starvation is not the solution. So far I lost about 30 pounds by following a few simple rules:
1. Don''t drink ''diet'' soda. Actually, don''t drink any soda at all. Stay away from products with aspartame. Aspartame makes you sluggish and will make a road block to your weight loss. I''ve noticed this in several close relatives who have had allergic reactions to it, and made big improvements when they stopped using it.
2. Try to eat all natural foods, with as little chemicals as possible. Your body will thank you.
3. Do a ketogenic cycle. This means eat lots of meat and eggs, starting with a big breakfast, with adequate amounts of fat, and no carbs. Bodybuilders have been using this method for decades, to lose fat and retain muscle. Make sure to eat some potassium/magnesium and drink lots of water, as this will help you prevent kidney stones. Adequate amounts of water is also beneficial to weight loss. Do the keto diet for a week or so and then for a few days eat regularly (but still healthy) with a moderate amount of carbs. Repeat as necessary. I lost about 8 pounds the first 2 days.
4. Work out about 3-4 days a week, around 1/2 hour to an hour per workout session is plenty.

I gained two pounds, and everyone says I look better. :(?

Now I need to lose five!!!

Have you ever had one of these days?

Easy Ways to Lose Weight and Burn Excess Fat Safely

Recommended Answer:
Absolutely have had one of those days. I used to be obsessed with the numbers on the scale and took that as a key to whether or not I was making progress. Problem is (and I'm sure you heard this and thought it was bs) lb for lb muscle takes up less space than fat. Your body also burns more calories to maintain that muscle than it does fat. If you've been working out, eating right and people are seeing a difference, you are probably losing fat and developing muscle at the same time. Check out the picture on this link. http://www.onemorebite-weightloss.com/muscle-to-fat.html
and whatever you do don't give up. I wouldn't see a change and I would give up and have a 5-10lb yo yo going, but now I'm finally making progress that I can see. Give yourself at least 8weeks. Good luck :)

  • Well you probably do look better than if people are saying that you are.
  • If you look better don't gain more weight
  • Talk to 3 trusted people, that will tell you the truth, and ask them what you should do :)
